Ok, I'm curious about some of you, why did you select the particular name your using on the Paizo D&D threads? What was the reason or madness behind your selection?

I like kobolds, and I liked the idea of a 'Kobold Cleaver' who was a kobold. Also, the avatar fits.

At the tail end of 2nd edition (I hadn't played D&D really since 1st edition), WOTC announced that they were going to publish 3.0, so I thought this would be a good time to get back into the game.
Since pretty much all of my D&D memories stemmed from 1st edtion of the early to mid 80's, during which I would listened to a lot of music as we played, I got kinda nostolgic about it and wanted to go with a name I would hear in the 80's music, so I picked Eileen, from the song "Come On Eileen" by Dexy Midnight Runners when it was time to roll up a character.
Eventually, I started using the character name on Canonfire, and it seemed to make sense to use the same name here when I thought I would check out Paizo.
That's pretty much all there was to it. My character name.

I began playing D&D when I was a tween, and the first set of adventures that I ever played in were in the World of Greyhawk, around Eyebite Castle (against the wizard Shiner). These were the Greyhawk Blue Box days with the long haired fella in the green tunic riding a Griffon on the cover.
Great memories of playing D&D at sleepovers that seemingly never ended, while consuming more Mountain Dew than humanly possible, and eating so many Cheetohs that my hands were orange for a week.

I've used this nickname for some 13 years now. See, when I was young and not quite old enough, I couldn't figure out a good nickname for playing Duke Nukem 3d on the brand new intarweb. So, after going through the nicknames "The Spider", which I was made fun of, and "Tyu", which was mostly me just randomly clicking buttons, I was stuck.
So I had this old MODem made by a company called vERA. Years later one of my friends said that I was being female (I'm a guy) since in Spanish everything that ends with -era is feminine. Realized I was fairly confident in my masculinity and have kept it ever since.
EDIT: I'm going bald, felt the avatar should too.
I am one of the "chosen/fallen" from the never-ending wheel of time series. I got wiped out from that reality by balefire so decided to migrate to this plane and settle-down living life as a middle-class American teenager.

This is the nic that finally stuck after trying several others at different boards. Originally, this name went to a villian that I created. He was a Cambion demon that was the son of a Demon Prince, Graz'zt. He was an assassin and general for his father. Later on, I was trying to think of a new nic when mine was taken and I picked this one. After a while, I liked it, so when I started to post at Paizo, I used this nic. As for the dragon avatar, I like dragons, especially silver ones, so I picked a dragon as my avatar.

Back in 1st edition, I had a female human cleric of Diancecht called Themes, like the river in England.
When I first got AOL, I used that name as my first screen name. AOL suggested adding some numbers to screen names. Somehow, 86 just seems to roll off the tongue. In most D&D related websites, like here, I use the same name as a screen name.
Strangly, on the WOTC notice boards, I am Hammerclaw, the last name of my first female dwarven warrior in the Dungeonworld play-by-mail game.

I could not think of a 'fun' name and did not not see a reason I would want to create a new identity. (Some of you guys might know each other in 'real life' if you used your real names.)
Now if I could change my Forum Name, I would become 'Duncan & Dragons' (hence my Avatar). Either that or 'Fantasy Freaker' since that was my families nickname for me when I played too much D&D as a kid.

I was promoted to Detective about a year ago, and selected for the Narcotics Unit about three months after that. We have no dress code and no rules about personal appearance, so I have not shaved or cut my hair in about nine months. One of the ladies in Records started calling me Wolfman due to my new look, and it stuck. 174 is my badge number.
Because I started using this name playing online games about 12 years ago. It suited my abrasive humor and badass skillz. It stuck.
I ran out of creative things to say.
In the Society for Creative Anachronism, my persona is Wulfhere Forloren, a teutonic Saxon of the Migration Period. This originally reflected my desire to have a persona contemporary with some of the historical roots of King Arthur (...and wear pants, rather than hosen).
T'was thus that I came to be "Wulfhere" or "Sir Wulf" online.
It was either this or Jimmy Jam Jambles.
Arctaris is the name of a villian I designed (but sadly have yet to use) and I liked the name. I needed a name when I joined so I went with Arctaris.
I was not originally into rpgs. I had suffered through a very, very bad series of experiences at the hands of dedicated rpgers. (Who happened to be terrible people, all gaming aside)
Then, a really, really good friend, who was helping me through some things and was herself a DND player asked me if I hated the games, or the people I had been playing with. I suggested that dungeon guys all sucked. She asked me "what about dungeon girls?"
So I agreed to play in an all-female group, and discovered I *loved* rpg sessions. They soon started calling me their new Dungeon Girl. As a monkier, it took. Soon I was gaming with other friends, of both genders.
Then I started gaming with more casual acquaintences,. once I had the confidence to defend myself against unwelcome attention and behavior. That happened at about the same time I got very much into the Riot Grrrl scene (I love Bikini Kill, even now). Thus when a store was putting together lists of people looking for games, id ecided to use a nom de game, and decided to be listed as Dungeon Grrrl.
I insisted, ebcause at first the store owner refused to use grrrl, because he didn't like the word and associated it with man-haters. I had to point out he was allowing things like Suckubus and Brabazon, which certainly had some policitcal bent, just in a direction he liked. He saw my point, and decided since he didn't have a problem with me, he didn't need to have a problem with my chosen name.
So when I first started getting online, I stuck with my gamer name, Dungeon Grrrl, originally in my livejournal. Because I had to fight for it, I always use it.

I find it interesting that there are several other people who took the name of a favorite villian.

You may not be (what else would you expect from flea-bait?) but we kobolds are inherently goodness. Tiamat told me herself.
A few years back I was working nights, and working 12 hour shifts to boot. So I had several days during which I had a lot of time on my hands. During this time I sort of had a "message board epiphany" and started signing up for and posting on a whole bunch of boards.
KnightErrantJR came about from the confluence of several of my interests. When I was chatting about Dragonlance, KnightErrant made sense as a reference to the Knights of Solomnia, and I was playing a paladin of Deneir in Baldur's Gate, so it worked for my Candlekeep handle as well when I chatted about the Realms. I was posting on Catholic forums, and I'm a Knight of Columbus, so basically, this became my multi purpose name that fits all the way around.
And the JR at the end are my initials . . . not junior, but its amusing to see how many people assume that.

Late night gaming sessions, beverages had to come in something and the man they call Boxhead came into being...
I shortened it for you folks, since you seemed like good people.
And for anyone who cares, the true man they call Boxhead was converted in minis form in Warhammer 5th(?)ed as a huge Khorne Lord riding a Juggernaut chariot, went to the Canadian Grand Tournament in 2000 and was subsequently retired to my shelf of minis I don't get to play with anymore... Comeplete with Coca-Cola box head and all...
Boxhead is no longer restricted to non-alcohlic beverages.
The Stinky Pete is my trail name from a few years ago on the Appalachain Trail. The shirt I happened to be wearing for this one 18 day trek had an incredible ability to smell terrible, and the guys I was with would always know if I was infront of them. It just kinda stuck after that. I just remove the capitalization and the spaces when I'm online.

I'm glad this thread was started, as I'm always curious about these things. I have a passion for names in general. That said, I obviously lack imagination, b/c I just shortened my real name. Doh! As for the avatar itself, I really really enjoyed Downer.
It was a screen name I created back in the $2.95/hr. AOL days (1993 or so). It was originally the name of a magic system I created for a campaign. I liked it as a screen name and it stuck. Now, 14 years later I identify with it quite a bit and use it on every forum I've ever posted on.

My nickname for over 15 years has been Flash, and when it came time for me to get an e-mail address, funnily enough "Flash" was taken on Hotmail. I tried Flash121 (21 & 121 being my favourite numbers) and variations upon that theme, and finally found that flash_cxxi was not taken.
I have used it online (and as my login for my computers) ever since.
EDIT: Oh, and I use this Avatar because nearly all of the charcters I play are Female (something like 80/20) and I like the pic (it is only my 2nd Avatar pic and the 1st was Female also).
Tsulis was the name of a wizard I was playing. Ilike names with wierd spellings and silent letters.
I really want to play a halfling rogue named Fpuck.
It's my favourite dinosaur. Well, not technically a dinosaur, but a precursor to them.
