Thanks, Sebastian. I've been there for a couple of months and it's a decent gig. I do mock-ups for everything coming out in the fall for Workman Publishing, including a licensed product that is near and dear to science fiction types. I don't know if it's okay to talk about some of it, even if I just do grunt work, since there was an NDA active for a little while.
For my own stuff, there's Adam Daigle's "The Havenmire Gauntlet" from Highmoon and some work for forthcoming Kobold Quarterly issues and a fairly large Open Design project.

I have a second job doing freelance translation work.
As I have often said in these forums (fond as I am of blowing my own horn), I write a lot (including my own Campaign setting), with the concommitant dream of getting it all published one day.

Newspaper reporter. Officially, I cover public safety, but I refer to it as the murder and mayhem beat. Fun stuff, although once or twice a year I get stuck writing about some horrible crime against a child, which makes me want to crack my staff of the magi and blow up the world. Violence between consenting adults doesn't bother me.

I teach British literature and writing for EFL students in a Chinese University, HIT Weihai branch.
I also do technical writing and editing for EFL textbooks.

I've worked for various local contractors and builders in the past, but about a year and a half ago I joined the maintenance staff at a brand new hospital in Willliamsburg, Va. I've been on evening shift ever since (3-11:30).
I used to do internal systems mechanics, we mostly did steel framing and ceilings in various professional firms and sometimes for stores.

The pay sucks, but I love my job :)
(luckily, my husband has a job that pays actual money...)
This one so far takes the most dedication and has the greatest rewards. Hats off to you ma'am! Thanks for all the great mothers out there who took the time. And that includes you Mom. :)

Back on topic: If I haven't already mentioned it, I'm a hydrogeologist. I thought I'd said so, but the thread lacks a dot, and obviously we should all trust computers more than our own brains (never mind the November 17 post by someone with my name saying the same thing).
