It started at over 500 words but I managed to trim it down to 199.
Oh, the lost flavour text! You guys are killing me with these restrictions.
Best of luck to absolutely everyone who submitted! I can't wait to see what the winners came up with!
I would also like to know what the total number of entries received was, for my own morbid curiosity, and to get a feel for how many pages the judges had to sift through.

submitted after i got home from work tonight. felt pretty good about my first attempt, then totally changed my mind and submitted a much cooler item. hope the staff and everyone else agrees.
Well, I finally got it written out and submitted, now I'm just wondering how the time exchange affects the submission deadline. I really suck at time-zones. I think it's pretty cool, I have just a couple of reservations about things I hope may go unnoticed... who am I kidding, gamers miss nothing. Ah, smurfnuggets.
P.S.: Um, I attempted to use "smurfnuggets" as a curse word, and ... my avatar appears to have changed to papa smurf... how? why?

Well, after tearing my hair out since the start of the contest and creating things only to destroy them, I finally settled upon something and I think it will work. This was a lot tougher than I thought! I'm more of a monster maker. ;)

I make a lot of MI (Bazaar of the Bizarre being my favorite regular). No countries and only a few monsters, so hopefully this will get easier (but not too easy... I do want to play. O:)

hi there, everyone. Just wanted to say hello and wish everyone luck who entered the contest. This is my first post here, too, so I guess it serves as my general "introduction" to the community. I see a lot of excitement over the contest, so all the best, and I look forward to seeing what develops.

I have to admit; that was the hardest part of the contest. Trying to find the submission process.
I initially clicked under the banner heading to 'log in and submit your entry', and from there, everything else I clicked sent me round and round the FAQ.As I did it today, and I couldn't remember how far behind Pacific time was, I began to fear I'd missed it.

I found it eventually, though. I didn't look below the big Superstar banner, since that's a place I'd already been.
I thought there'd be a form with spaces to fill in your real name, address and tel no. I wasn't expecting to do it like a regular post thread, and thought I'd just posted it to all the other members to see (until I saw the acknowledgement).
A bigger shiny button needed next time please, for the sake of my sanity!
Finally got this done... I remade an item I designed back in the times of second edition AD&D, which was hugely popular with my players then. :-)
Wow that was harder than I thought. I had to redo it three times. In the end I just kept it simple stupid. Good luck everyone!
It was far closer then I'm comfortable with but the button has been pressed and may the gods be kind.
Submitted and done. Just hope I didn't goof on the format or language skills.
Sigh... time for my first post... was really excited about all this, but work got in the way of developing my best ideas. So in the end I submitted a simpler item, only to realize three seconds after publishing that I'd forgot something :(

The deadline for submissions has passed, and the judges are deliberating! From more than 850 entries, only 32 finalists will be chosen to continue in the RPG Superstar competition. The finalists will be announced right here on November 28 at noon Pacific Time. The contestants' next task will be to design a country to the judges' specifications by December 3; their submissions will be revealed on December 5 along with the judges' comments, and then you'll have until December 11 to discuss the entries and vote for your favorite!

fortunately, i have improved AND augmented critical, so i'm all the way up to 1 in 5!
Done, finished, edited....then edited again, and again and again.......ah submitted. :) 200 words exactly now it's the waiting part. I figured either way, good or bad, at least I can say that I tried.I did notice that the turn around time for the country is pretty quick, I'm very curious to see the rules for that part.

Fortunately, I typed my entry using my falchion, so my odds have improved considerably.
