Are you entering the Open Call?

I'm just wondering who was submitting queries for the Open Call.

I haven't seem some of the names that usually posted in the old Dungeon Black Hole and Critique My Query threads around the boards lately (Zherog, Great Green God, etc) and others (Logue, Pett, et al) are ineligible because they are already involved in Pathfinder and GameMastery.

So aside from myself, who else is entering?

*I've got my query "done"... it just needs editing down from ~1000 words to the 800 word limit. But I'm not going to submit it until the weekend, just in case I think of a better idea.

I'm entering of course.

EDIT: Wrong guy! Whoops! For some reason I'm always confusing G-cubed with Steve Greer. I think it's because Steve looks like GGG's avatar.

I'm considering it. I've had several adventures go through the RPGA before, but never submitted anything to Dungeon or Dragon (or Paizo) before...

Sovereign Court

I'm working on one, but I'm still going in circles on basic concept.

It takes me about a month to come up with basic adventure concepts sometimes, which is why I'm so fond of published material. On the other hand, I don't have a month. So we'll see.

My entry's almost done too!

I wish.

No fair.

Nick out.

psst. Nick, pass it along and I'll have someone else in my gaming group submit if for you. They'll even thank you for the "inspiration" in the bio ;-)

I am going to submit an entry. My writing is mostly confined to scientific papers, but this sounds like a great opportunity.

Mine's alredy done in my head, and half done on paper. I'm struggling a bit on the monster (Frostburn stole all my ideas before I even had them :( )

If I can find time to kick out 800 words in the next couple of days, you bet I'm entering.

I'm endeavoring to pick up the proverbial gauntlet as well. And hopefully, I won't be nearly as verbose as my answer here. ;-)

::mumble:: fancy-shmancy vocabulary...

I probably could enter, and thought about it, but I'm already a freelancer who does regular work for Paizo and thought it would A) look bad and B) eat up an opportunity that would be of more benefit to someone else, if I did enter and actually got the job.

Plus, looking at the names here, I can see that I'd be going up against some tough competition...

So, I decided not to enter. Best of luck to you folks! I'm already eager to read the winning adventure when the time comes. :)

I'm having a go - worst anyone can say is 'No, thank you'.

Working on it.

Yup. Basic plot has come together.

I'm going to start drafting it tonight, if possible.

We have a secret club house where we sit around all day hang out and talk about girls. As the winner of the last such Paizo contest I'm feeling pretty game for this one.

And guys -and you know who you are- may the best cabbage submission win.

Liberty's Edge

I need to parse out another 15 words, but once I do that, I am most certainly in.

My submissions to Dragon were getting closer and closer to acceptance, so I am entering. I will consider myself successful if I get into the selected 10 even if I do not get the final publication. Baby steps, gil. Baby steps.

Filed down? Never! Sharp, we likes 'em sharp!

Hey, good luck you guys. Can't wait to see who gets to join the writing team. This is exciting! :)

The Rogue has entered the building.

Silver Crusade

I'm planning to enter. I have some ideas that I plan to pull together this weekend.

Liberty's Edge

I'm thinking of tossing my hat into the ring - if I can get something together between now and the weekend, as I'll be away...

Sovereign Court

I would really like to send in something, but right now it's crunch time at my university, and I'm not sure if I'll have enough time. Maybe if they do another one of these sometime in the future I'll give it a go. It would at the very least give me an adventure idea that I can use with my gaming group!

Though with Savage Tide, Pathfinder, and the Gamemastery Modules, I don't know when I'll get some of my own stuff in...

Dark Archive

I've just about completed my submission. Writer's block plauged me for several days but a winning idea came to me a few hours ago. I hope the editors enjoy reading my submission and are hungry for more.

I've sent something in. Of course, I only noticed typoing 'carved' as 'caved' after I posted it, of course.

*sigh* Ah well, we'll see how it goes. I tried to write in a different style while answering the questions to stand out a bit. We'll see how it works.

Scarab Sages

I've sent my submission in as well. As noted above, the worst that can happen is that someone says "No".

I've tossed in mine as well. The competition here is looking pretty steep. I only hope I've got something good enough to make the cut.

Honestly, I'll be overjoyed if I even make the Top 10. Winning doesn't matter to me all that much.

I've submitted mine as well. (I mentioned this on the other Open Call thread, but since I started this topic... I figure I should post on this one as well, lol)

Well, just sent mine. Good luck to all the applicants, and may the best module see print!

I've submitted mine, and am hoping for the best. Even if my adventure doesn't get picked, I'm still running the damn thing. The open call sparked my imagination big time, so even if it doesn't get picked, I have to thank Paizo for that.

I did, and it is my first submission of any kind to any rpg company, so I'm nervous. But I've been writing and DMing for years. It was my major in college...The writing, not the DMing haha. So who knows, right? Good luck everyone.

I went skydiving for the first time yesterday, and decided that if I survive I'm going to get something published. Today I jump on the paizo website and spot the open call.

It Is A Sign! Hehehe.

Submitted mine on Wednesday.

Same here. It was a very good exercise, and now the story that I came up with won't die until its played.

Liberty's Edge

Mine hath been submitted! Only about 550 words but I believe it was enough to get everything I needed across.

The Exchange

I have to give an acknowledgment to Wes Schneider for my posting in the Open Call; By GenCon, with the close of Dungeon and Dragon, I assumed I'd never had a chance to write for Paizo and didn't even consider going to their seminar on Sunday.

Thankfully, Wes talked me into checking it out, which got me & my fiancee excited about submitting monsters for the ecology and doing anything we could to be involved. So thank you, Wes, for getting me back on track.

Even if I don't get in the Top Ten, it was a blast doing any sort of adventure writing again (I'm putting in 35 hrs as an intern at a local high school and then have 12 hrs of classes for my Masters program each week, plus homework and putting improvements and repairs on PhysChic's and my new house :D. Needless to say, we don't game very much right now, and she's running us through Hollow's Last Hope and Crown of the Kobold King).

Good luck to everyone, and I hope to eventually hear (or even share) the great ideas that were offered that didn't quite make the cut.

Dark Archive Contributor

I'm in. Managed to throw something together, I guess we'll see how it goes...

My went off this weekend. I'm in!

That's my problem too: hectic time in my life, with the possibility of a lot of big changes (such as moving and getting a new job). I did write up a draft submission, but I don't have time to refine it. Even if I did, I don't think I'd have time to actually write/submit anything else if I was successful. And judging from what Mike said (below) I decided that I'll sit this one out. Hopefully when they do the next one, things won't be so crazy around here.

When is this slated to be published if the completed manuscript has to be in by Jan 1st 2008?

May 2008, I think.

Yes, it's a very aggressive schedule.

Don't enter if you can't write that many words by the deadline.

If you win but you're late with your final submission, expect to never work for us again.

So don't be late. ;D

550 tightly written words and Im in. Thanks for the chance at greatness, guys!!!

Hey Triple G, you got any cool or intriguing titles?....

...oh. Wait.

nevermind.

It looked like it was going thru noon tomorrow, but I sent it in before midnight, their time, just in case that was a typo. Ending at noon? Cool, my kind of schedule.

Spoiler:
Anybody else make the Red Raven the item in flight?
