Skidd draws his spear and quickly runs over to the thief. He does not attack, but motions for Hat to get behind him.
"I believe I'm to be your escort. Step lively now! That's it! Lively!"
Readying an action to stab (and spend an action point)should the thief try anything not according to plan.

As everyone clears a path to the door thief drags Bri toward the exit keeping a watchful eye on everyone.
Balance check to move outside of the slippery area 15-4 = 11
To move outside the door would take two rounds so unless anyone objects I will assume everyone is waiting for him to let her go and just move the full twenty feet.
As they step outside the door the little thief smiles. "Nice doing business with you."
He take his glowing blade from Bri's throat and brings the pommel down hard on her head.
Attack 19 -4(nonlethal) -4(in grapple) +5 = 14
Automatic critical Damage 1+1+4 = 6
Fort DC 16 to remain conscious.
I made an executive decision and make the Fort save for my wife. (I am sure I will not hear the end of it for a while.)
Fort save 9+1 = 10
Bri's head explodes with a sudden pain and her companions slowly fade as her vision darkens.
Throwing the unconscious halfling into the door way the thief turns and runs off down the street.
OK here we go.
Bri is currently 0 hp's from nonlethal damage and on the floor in the doorway. Anyone passing through the doorway must make a balance or jump check DC 5 to not step on her and cause an additional 1d3 nonlethal damage (except for Skidd, his is automatic 1 damage.)
Without a successful jump or unless someone pulls Bri out of the doorway no one can immediately run after the thief.
The thief is thirty feet down the road and everyone is still in the shop.
Listen check DC 15
Scardd is up.

\-*^/ |

Listen Check (Roll 19+0=19), Jump Check (Roll 2+3=5) *phew*
Scardd sees his Halfling friend fall to the thief. With a growl of infernal rage, he leaps out into the street barely clearing Bri. Ignoring the sounds of the authority now coming this way and the warnings from the magic-user, he stops briefly to locate the thief.
DM:
Spot Check, if needed (Roll 19+0)
I am assuming there is a crowd of people and the same rules apply as before. (4x speed DC 20 Reflex or Strength Check) Reflex Save (Roll 5+3=8) If there was a crowd of people, Scardd got knocked to the ground.
If there is not a crowd of people, then Scardd will use his Eldritch Blast. Ranged Touch Attack (Roll 8+4=12), Damage (Roll 6+0=6)

** spoiler omitted **
Scardd leaps through the door into the street and with a quick look around spot the thief running several yards down the road. Channeling his rage he sends a burst of energy flying down the road but the still diminutive thief darts out of the line of fire.
Between the City Watch charging down the street and the crazed looking half-orc unleashing magic bolts several bystanders start to scream and people start running to get off the street.
Now just roll 1d100 and if it is less then 20 you are hampered by a panicked pedestrian and can only move you normal speed. Anything above 20 you can Run to hearts content.
Bri will remain unconscious until she is healed or naturally heals 1 point, so unaided she out for an hour I do believe.
Hatt is up.

Sorry about the delay
Galen runs out the door, trying to jump over Bri, but his armor trips him up.
Jump 2+1 (with armor check penalty)=3
Damage roll 3=2hp nonlethal to Bri. Sorry, NaniGalen yells to his horse, "Filaren, attack!"
Attack roll 16+4=20 Damage 1+3=4
Dispite the temptation to let you stomp on her because I think it's funny Tuon moved her in his round so you make it out the door just fine.
The horse gives a snort and stampedes after the thief increasing the frenzy of panicking bystanders. Hearing the load hoof beats the thief turn just in time to catch a front hoof on the shoulder.
Staggering he manages to keep his feet and run on.
Behind Galen and Scardd three men dressed in long red coats brandishing swords break through the crowd. Seeing people running from a large half-orc dressed in ripped and tattered clothing they quickly level their swords in Scardd's direction. "Put down the spear and don't move."
Creed it up.

Just had a post ready to go for Galen. This was assuming that Bri was not an obstacle because Tuon has her now.
For anybody interested:
Galen issues Fighting Challenge. If the thief continues to run, Galen issues the command for Filaren to attack.
Not sure if Filaren is trained to Attack. Handle Animal Check (Roll 5+8=13). If Filaren is trained to attack then the DC is 10, if not the DC is 20. Filaren’s Initiative Roll (19+1=20)
Filaren’s Attack w/ hoof (Roll 17+4=21), Damage (3+3=6)

WTF I have been busy since yesterday at about noon and I finally get a chance to look at the boards and I find myself knock out with people stepping on me and throwing me around like a little rag doll. Gee thanks there hubby for taking me out there. I am sure you were thinking, "Whats a little tap on the head going to hurt?" Well maybe you should be nice to me since I planned for you to go skiing on Sunday while I go and pick up the kids. humm to late to edit your post! Sucks to be you!

Utak |

This is why I don't like to DM for my wife. But she is more like. "Is the goblin cute? If he is cute, then I don't what to hurt him." Then I am like, "No he's not cute, he's a goblin. Roll the damn dice." :)

Bri Leagallow |

Are they cute? I am not as interested in the ones I am hurting but rather those that grace me with their presence and just what they think about short, loud mouth, hyperactive little ones! PS I have to go get work done now so won't be able to keep up with the chat but on a side note I think the hubby is doing a great job and I actually enjoy him taking his anger out on me especially since it is to cold up here for us to paint ball all we have is this right now, and paybacks are always so much fun!

Fair Tuon Clawed |

Fair Tuon with Bri in his arms goes berserk.
"Galen, you are no better than that thief! Creed and I both told him he could go. Stop fighting in the street and be a bloody knight with some honour. You are breaking my word."
Hearing the approach of the guards, Tuon smiles ice cold.
"This is out of hand." He adds emphatically.
Tuon turns away from the shop and carefully moves down the street in the opposite direction with the little halfling girl.
If he sees the local militia he will try to duck out of sight.

Skiddifig Hahdrik |

"In the knight's defense, he didn't really return the money. But why listen to me? After all, I'm a mage, and mages are obviously liars. Not to mention that i am a halfling and therefore not to be trusted. So why should you listen to me? Who cares if I advise you all to be careful? Let's all run and attack the thief!"
He looks very annoyed, mainly at the half-orc who ignored him and saw fit, instead, to start sending magic at the thief.

After failing to find a way around the back of the shop Roderick darts out of an ally. Seeing the horse chasing after a small halfling Roderick thinks to himself Thats bizarre, it's that Galen's horse. and then he sees that the halfling eyes and puts it together. Grabbing an arrow he lets one fly but the arrow flies high and pierces the wall across the street.
Attack 8+4=12
As the large horse thunder along next to the thief his vision distorts as he starts to grow back to normal size. Now with his longer legs he puts his head down and runs as fast as he can down the street.
The thief is now about 150 feet from the front of the shop.
Roderick is about 100 feet from the shop front down the street in an ally.
Tuon, Bri, Creed and Skidd are walking towards Roderick and are about twenty feet from Galen and Scardd.
The three City Watch, Scardd and Galen are right outside the shop.
It would seem that the thief has gotten away, but if anyone wants to pursue thats fine.
Scardd is up.

DM Dreamweaver |

I would say we are out of Init, but the encounter is not over. Lets see if you can stay out of jail.
The thief take one last look behind him before he rounds a corner and disappears from sight.
The apparent leader of this group of the Watch is dressed in a long red coat and when he walks you can see the tail of his chainmail armor under it. He has short brown hair and you would guess that he is no older than 25. On the back of his coat is the embroidered image if two large peaks with a circle at the base and on his right shoulder he has an image of an eagles head.

Holding his sword high he looks Scardd over, "What is going on here, you attacking passerby? Put down your spear and get down on your knees." The other two watchmen fan out around Scardd ready for trouble.
The leader of the group looks over to Galen, "Haven't I seen you before?" Suddenly he straights a little. "Your part of the Swordstars... Wha... What are you doing with this trouble maker?"

Skiddifig Hahdrik |

"Ahem, if I can explain. These folk here, see, were victimized by the thief. They were rather angry and were probably going to kill him when I intervened and...ah...shrunk him. I am in a magic shop, after all. But they were still quite angry. The knight was going to take him captive, but this thief was cunning. He took that child captive." He points to Bri. "And threatened to slice her windpipe. Of course, everyone here--possibly exempting me--cared for the girl, so they surrendered, and I can't very well have a murder on my hands--that's not my job, I just reduce the killing--so I surrendered as well. The thief did leave, I'll give him that, but he pounded the hilt of some strange glowing sword onto the child's head and knocked her out. He then fled without leaving the money. As I've said, these folk cared for the child, so that ugly man there--the one with the scars--went and began nursing her. I think 'tis worth pointing out that that man--he points to the tattooed man--is obviously a priest of some deity and just healed the girl. She should be up shortly.
"So, please, I believe that I'm the most neutral party, save perhaps her"--he points to the elven woman--"she didn't participate at all. Perhaps you should ask her? She may also have a word to say about those folk"--he points to the party members--"destroying her merchandise..."

I hate invisible castle.
Diplomacy 5+3=8. I don't suppose Hat can aid me by meowing and nodding his head?
Oh well, maybe Skidd will annoy the watch so mush that he'll let me go...you guys are on your own, though.

Creed of Kord |

Tuon puts the waking halfling down.
"Thanks Creed, she looks small but she's quite heavy," he grunts.
"That's because they eat so damn much." Creed says with a crooked grin, "Hah!"
Turning towards the talkative halfling...
he points to the tattooed man--is obviously a priest of some deity and just healed the girl. She should be up shortly.

Creed interjects, "I am no priest." He says to the leader of the guards, by way of answering the halfling's question, "I am a disciple of the Strong One, called and gifted by Kord Himself. But, I am no priest."
"I have, however, been robbed by a thief and a coward who attacked and wounded my friend. Those assembled here tried to stop him," with a broad smile he adds, "and failed, yeah? Hah! A good chase, though. Hah!"

Bri Leagallow |

Tuon puts the waking halfling down.
"Thanks Creed, she looks small but she's quite heavy," he grunts.
Bri slowly feels herself waking up and instantly remembers the thief. In a groggy voice. "Tuon there is no reason to bring my weight into the topic. What is going on anyhow? Where did that half pint go? Did somebody squash him like a little bug? And why does my head feel think a Giant stepped on it?" Bri asks while she places her hands on her head. Bri notices the Guard talking to the group and there being a question of the group being in trouble. " Well it is about time that somebody took notice. Did you catch the thief? The nerve of him thinking that he could take me as a hostage and then put a knife to my neck. Didn't he notice the size of my companions, must not of had any brains in the little head of his. Well don't just stand there, tell us how you plan to catch the thief?" Bri try's to take a few steps closer to the action but finds herself a little wobbly so she sits down on the ground instead.

Creed of Kord |

Bri try's to take a few steps closer to the action but finds herself a little wobbly so she sits down on the ground instead.
"Perhaps you should sit a moment," Says Creed. "The thief played his game well--as thieves do. Don't concern yourself with him. If I meet him again, the outcome will not be the same. Haw! Or, maybe it will, yeah? Hah!"

Skiddifig Hahdrik |

Skidd finds himself warming to the large man. "Yes, maybe it will. You folk didn't exactly perform well in this battle. The child even got herself captured! You really need to be more careful, young lady", he says, looking severely at Bri. "Or you might be killed."

\-*^/ |

Scardd, being told to drop his weapon and kneel, remembers back to waking in the cave shackled and imprisoned. He was not about to let this happen again, but he is also aware that he is out of his element here in a city.
Still holding his spear and letting out a growl, the Half-Orc looks to Galen, one he truly trusts, for his wisdom.

Bri listens as the other halfling talks to her. " So whats up with calling me a child? Last time I checked you were the same size as me and for the record if you want to keep calling me a child I will start calling you shorty. Got there shorty!" Bri says this as she punches him in the shoulder with a little of her might. "Next time I will aim for you head there shorty so watch your mouth! Plus I wasn't killed nor was I really that close to dying as you can see I am doing just fine." Bri says and does as she stands up with a little help from her inner stubbornness.
