BACKGROUND
One year ago, a determined young man returned briefly to the decrepit shell of his family manor. Empty, crumbling and burnt, Tuon Du Lac swore an oath of vengeance against those responsible.

A Broken Home
Towards the end of the Inheritor Wars, Mitre Manor was raided by the armed forces of Duke Constanza. Earl Pheros Du Lac held out for two days until he died at the spells of the Shard warmages. The Earl's liege, Duke Lasson, eventually managed to repulse the offensive but was left with neither the time nor resources to help Lady Du Lac repair her home. Thus the manor fell gradually into abject disrepair. The slow erosion of Tuon's manor testament to his father's forgotten service.

The Bottom of a Bottle
Nicoline, Mouvea and little Tuon grew up in this poverty with their lonely mother, Dalephi. Two loyal retainers lasted several years until old age took them. The dwindling largesse of his mother's family ended up paying for her denial, in the form of wine and brandy. Lady Du Lac left her children to fend for themselves. They sold one noble treasure after another in the nearby town of Morgan's Ford. Merchants grew rich making deals with those naive youngsters, something which Tuon did not realise until adulthood.

Fedrog's Horde
Unfortunately the brutish ogre sorcerer, Fedrog, and his raiders chose the manor for their next target. One summer night they pillaged and burnt the house and farm buildings in an orgy of chaos and fire. tuon and his sisters barely managed to escape with wolves and hounds on their heels. They headed for the river and their rowboat, but as they pushed out from the bank a grizzled wolf leapt in, knocking Nicoline overboard. It started savagely ripping at Tuon's face until Mouvea stabbed it deep in the ribcage. Frantically they searched for their sister, but Nicoline was gone. Bereft and injured, they let the river take them downriver to Morgan's Ford.

Morgan's Ford
Mouvea and Tuon were taken in by the first person they met a veteran soldier called Kelios. He had been fishing that day, but what he brought home made his barren wife extremely happy. Kelios and Laerta received several charitable gifts from various people beholden to the children's dead father, perhaps these were meant to assuage the guilt of the fallen manor. Nevertheless the teenage years proved a strong foundation of the boy and girl, giving them a chance to heal and find happiness. Also Laerta had a gift for music and she passed that love onto Tuon. They regularly performed at the markets and festivals in the area. Mouvea married a local farmer and left in happiness.
One day, Tuon met the travelling gnome bard, Nicodemus, and he became his apprentice (with the blessing of his foster parents). Tuon was a curious and ambitious sixteen year old, which meant that the next five years were a whirl of sights and sounds. He developed a keen ear for the harp and a his reputation grew with each new song and story. The gnome and him parted friends with vague promises to meet again one day at the Duke's Winter Festival.

Full Circle
It was the friendly merchant, Tabithe, who brought Tuon back to his ancestral home. She showed him the devastation and reminded him of what the Shard mages, Dukes, and ogre horde had done to his idyllic land. Old and wise, Tabithe explained who badly the trade routes and towns had declined in that time. The apprentice bard left a changed man, one with a purpose to help restore and give hope to the Land.

Targets
1) The grain merchant and antiquarian, Blenaud Tressup, took most of Tuon's family wealth and paid a pittance. He should learn how being poor feels.
2) The ogre Fedrog is owed many times over for the harm his horde did.
3) Duke Lasson or Duke Constanza should pay recompense for the fall of the manor.
4) The Shard warmages killed his father.

Other Hopes
1) To find his missing sister alive and well somewhere.
2) To rebuild Mitre Manor.
