Background

Spoiler:

Bri was born to a normal family in a normal house in a normal part of Keepers Dale. Her mother, Ceri works in a bakery as the head baker and her father, Jone works in the Keepers Watch in a position that he would rather not talk about. Her parents were very strict in the sense that they raised and wanted her to be a part of society rather than reverting to her Halfling tendency and be a mischief maker/finder. As a child Bri knew that being like her mother was the last thing she ever wanted to do. After school Bri would make her way to Demons Gate to have a look at what new exotic things the shops had. She became good friends with a guild member that was a part of the Devious Dancers. Bri being of mischievous mind decided that she wanted to join the group once she was old enough. She would go there every day after school and stand off to the side of the performer and practice whatever they were doing. Once Spring came Bri knew that they would be leaving and she was going to go with them one way or another. Early Spring came and the group decided that it was time for them to head out. Bri ran home and told her mother that she was joining the guild and that she was leaving. Her mother told her that was no life for any daughter of hers and that Bri needed to finish school and find a respectable job. Bri not knowing what to do and knowing that her father will speak with the guild decided that she had better do as her mother says but secretly she was planning how she would meet up with the guild.

Upon graduating from school Bri’s mother had setup a job for her at the bakery. When the day came for her to start her mother went to wake Bri up and found an empty bed. Knowing that if she ever went to work at the bakery she would never be able to leave and have the adventures she dreamt about with the Devious Dancers, Bri left her house in the middle of the night and made her way to Dragon Spines. She had heard that the guild was headed towards Orthal. As she left Keeper’s Dale she knew that she would be back and just hoped that her family would forgive her.

After wandering around through Forlorn Bri learned the hard way more than one time that at home she was a daughter of a semi important man and a gentle woman but out here she was alone and she needs to stick up for herself and never, not even once let her guard down. If she shows weakness she will never be respected. She makes friends with a few other halfings, Rou and Sein, which she stumbles upon in the outskirts of town. They are about her age and teach her how the “correct” ways to be the best she can be. They teach her how to pick pockets and manage to get most everything that she wants by watching for the right person who has what she wants. For the first time in her life Bri feels like she belongs. But at last, Rou and Sein need to keep moving, something about meeting the wrong sort of fate if they are found. She says her goodbyes and watches as her friends leave. Bri turns and heads down the road as she is certain that her parents will be after her.

After a few years of wandering and getting into trouble Bri hears that there has been some trouble in Keepers Dale and heard her father’s name mentioned. She heads back to Keepers Dale through Dragon Spines past Demon Peak. Along the way she sneaks up on two humans and tries to get a peek at any goods they may need to part with. The larger one with the scars on his face catches her. After a long deliberation she somehow manages to befriend them and learns that they two are heading to Keepers Dale. Thinking that it may be a great way to get back in town unnoticed and have some protection, Bri decides to travel with the brothers, Fair Tuon and Roderick.
