Golarion Map?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Grand Lodge

I thought I saw a map of Golarion somewhere, but I can't remember where or find a reference to it... is there one, or am I losing my mind? If there is, where is it?

Thanks!

Paizo Employee Creative Director

We've released a map of Varisia, but no map of Golarion yet.

Silver Crusade

not sure if it has bee discussed elsewhere, but will there be a big poster map made available of Varisia? One thing I've always loved about campaigns settings is the poster map that comes with the setting.

thanks

This map will first appear in January's "Pathfinder Chronicles Gazetter," and is currently in "draft" condition.

Eventually, yes. Probably as part of the Rise of the Runelords Map Folio coming out early next year.

You referring to a Golarion map, or just a big Varisia map? I'm so wanting a Golarion map...

He means a Golarion map. We already have a Varisia map.

Sweet!

And, no, I'm not Anonymous Coward #28 :)

Thanx for the welcome to the boards. I couldn't change my name for the message boards, so I went with an anonymous one, which I think you can change after so many posts...

The reason I asked the above question, is because the post above Erik's asked for a large poster map of Varisia (print.) I was asking for a map of Golarion (not necessarily print.)

D'oh! No—you can change it at any time up *until* you make 10 posts—after that, you're locked in.

As a cartophile I certainly can not wait for this. I'm enjoying this world much more than I expected I would. It might even supplant my 20+ year home-brew and even Greyhawk. First I need the maps though, the beautiful, silky colorful maps.

Speaking as yet another cartophile, is there any chance you could at some point show us the original T-Shaped Map for comparison purposes and curiosity's sake?

Sorry, it wasn't meant as a dig so much as a reference to Slashdot...

I can imagine that we might do a comparison of all of the versions of the map as a blog post some time down the road, but it is still, alas, months away.

We have a first draft of the final map here in the office, though, and it is really sweet-looking.

Is there any hope of seeing at least a rough outline of Golarion with some familiar locations pointed out (like Absolom, Falcon's Hollow, Varisia, etc.)? It would really help put the things we already have into some sort of a perspective.

Would it be safe to say that old Thassilon was larger than the present-day area that encompasses Varisia, and that it extended east on the map (I know that some of it went CRASH into the sea back in the day west)?

Absolutely. Thassilon consisted of seven differently sized nations, and of those seven, I believe only four or maybe five would fit on the Varisia map. Overall, I'd hazard a guess that Thassilon was about 150% larger than the Varisia map.

I suspect that when we get the final map in we'll probably be putting it up on the blog as a preview, but I really doubt you'll be seeing much before that. It's no good to release information that's still in a state of flux and change.

How many continents will Golarion have? And will the core races be the common races on every continent?

The main area of focus will contain two continents. There are at least three others, and a mostly-submerged destroyed continent a la Atlantis.

Thanks for the info, Erik! Will all the continents feature the typical human/elf/dwarf/gnome/half-elf/half-orc/halfling arrays of races? I mean are these the common races on ALL the continents?

Ooooh please please include a Thassilon map later on in RotRL as a player handout. My player running a pathfinder guild character would absolutely love that.

I'm wetting my pants in anticipation, hoping that Minkai is part of those two aforementioned continents of focus.

No campaign of mine is complete without the obligatory, inexplicable ninja attack.

Yes, I wear a diaper every time I peruse the messageboards.

Probably for the best.

What could possibly be taking you all so long? Do you not realize your fan base is made up of MTV minded, sugar fuelled, ADD rattled, teenagers?

Oh…and do charter subscribers get some kind of discount/bonus on the Pathfinder Chronicles Gazetter? You know…'cause I am all about the discount/free stuff.

I love the idea of a full globe map.

But you know, I think wetting your pants over it is perhaps a little extreme. Have you considered a catheter?

FYI, try to make sure it isn't any larger than a 14 french........ ;-)

Good idea. I'll get one. And a colostomy bag. And an IV full of Mountain Dew. I'll never have to leave he Paizo boards again!

I wonder if you will be mapping the other continents.

I do know about other people, but if you sold a pdf of the continents you are not focusing on, some of us would probably be pumped to personalize them. I love getting an unlabeled professionally done map that I can label myself. Even just a projection of the whole globe...

Whatever you do I'll be happy though--from the looks of Pathfinder 1 you are delivering what you promised.

I can never find it on the blog....

Me either, thanks man.

Not sure where to ask this so sorry about hijacking this thread. Does anyone know where I can find information on a massive hole across the mountain range just East of absolom? Saw it in a low res map and it has piqued my curiosity.

Are you referring to the large crater? If so, that would be the Tyrant's Grasp, which was created at the end of the Adventure Path of the same name.

Do you mean the mountains over on the continent across the inner sea from Absalom? On the north side of Qadira? There are a couple of passes through those mountains but I'm not sure what you mean by a "massive hole"

Giant hole east... Perhaps you are looking for the Pit of Gormuz, from which Rovagug's spawn are disgorged and sent rampaging across the lands

Ah yeah, for some reason my brain fizzled out on 'mountain range.' Definitely looks like the Pit of Gormuz is the hole in question.
