Utak |
One human fighter ready for action.
I shall complete his background over the weekend, hopefully meshing him with either the half-orc warlock or the human ranger in some way.
Well met Mr. Clawed.

Man, I'm pretty amazed with the stats that I have. Can someone double check it to make sure it's right?
Blue Wizard |
Utak/Blue Wizard I was wondering about linking up as relations or whatever to give us a start together. Are either of you interested?
Cheers
Fine by me, so long as it's DM friendly. I was planning on being from Forlorn. Is that a problem? I'm all for party harmony, and have always like having a good reason for the party to be acting in accord.
Fair Tuon Clawed |
Possible relationships are below, perhaps Utak/Blue Wizard and Dreamweaver can take a look and see what you all think?
1) All from the same village, probably Forlorn to fit in with Roderick. Either good friends or very competitive seeking to outdo one and other.
2) Mine could be from Forlorn and his surname could be Hafspan, in which case we could be brothers. Fitting the half-orc is not beyond the bounds of possibility but I know Utak has his own background ideas.
3) Met on the road and have travelled the last few weeks to Keepers Dale.
4) A mission of Obad-Hai to help the locals. Or my mercenary could be a protector for the warlock, hired muscle to keep him alive?
Cheers

Sect, your stats look fine to me. Then again, as Dreamweaver can attest, whenever I post on these boards, I really suck at math. :)

Would either of you have a reason to be in the Dragons Spines?
If yes, could work and I will elaborate if it is ok with Dreamweaver.
If no, then I will have to go solo.
Cheers

How about this?
The ranger and the fighter come from Forlorn (possibly related) they have traveled north to fight the grim fight in the words of Roderick.
Along the way they pass the Dragon Spines. Tuon wants to find out more about the link between psions and demons and there is a place in the Spines where he may learn more. They go there.
Meet the warlock but do not learn a great deal more. The warlock then decides to join the party to Keepers Dale.
That is loose but it fits the geography.

And then the dwarven druid tells them to get off his yard, and sends his badger after them.

LOL
This is my Warlock. I do not have any stats on him yet. Just wanted to get a post up. Will also explain his name in due time.
While searching through the Dragon Spines, you enter a cave ....
During play, if Dreamweaver would like to take it this way, is when we would meet.
I like to be mysterious and secretive Mwahahahahahaha.
Roderick Hafspan |
I like the fighter/ranger brother duo. If it's all the same to you, I'd like to be the younger brother. Not quite following in the (family?) warrior footsteps, a bit wilder perhaps. Maybe chaotic good?
I'll check back tomorrow and Monday and we'll hammer this out.
Also, I'd like to say thanks for letting me in. I'm really enjoying this so far, and we haven't even really begun!
French Wolf |
Sect I was just trawling the previous emails and noticed you asking about thoughts on dwarven druids.
Druids one of my favourite classes (I have a half-orc druid in a convention campaign and he goes everywhere with a shillelagh spell).
Dwarves are the first race I ever played so they hold a special place in my heart.
Great combination.
Cheers

Spoiler for Dreamweaver and Roderick to read
Her life changed when the smooth talking chancer called Terisini walked in one day. He took a shine to her and over the next few days, he stayed on and on and on. Ageera was bowled over by the attention and the obvious charm.
She remembers the trip down to the waterfall well. The water was clean and fresh and somehow Terisini always managed to keep her warm. The evitable occurred but by then Ageera had to face her father alone and he was not pleased. He arranged for her to marry quickly and quietly, so Ageera found herself with a woodcutter for a husband – Geneal Hafspan.
Nine months later, her first son was born, Tuon. He was blond and liked by all for his laughter and thoughtfulness throughout his childhood. A few years later Ageera fell pregnant again, she did not mind as her husband had turned out to be a good man. Better than Terisini who she had never seen again.
Roderick was born on a moonless night with a piercing cry. He proved a more difficult child, but one who formed an instant bond with his brother. Tuon and Roderick shared everything and became thick as thieves.
Then on a sunny afternoon, by the waterfall, the family was shattered by a wild and rabid wolf. It came out of nowhere and before anyone could react, Geneal lay in a pool of his own blood. The wolf turned on Ageera and savaged her leg. In a trice, Roderick and Tuon attacked with their daggers. Bravely they fought the monster with its slavering and foamy jaws ripping at them. Tuon was tripped and the wolf went for his throat and face. Roderick saved him in a mad rush and the wolf took a dagger through the neck. Now unarmed, Roderick tried to run, but was rooted to the spot by indecision, to stay and die with his family or run and leave them to the wolf. The animal was dying, but not quickly enough, it madly lurched at the boy and would have taken his life when Tuon rose from the ground, his wounds partly closed. With eyes like glittering rubies he ripped the creature down the flank finishing it off.
In the aftermath of the battle, Ageera died from her wounds in a rabid fever and Tuon nearly joined her. For two weeks Roderick faced life alone and that changed him. When Tuon recovered, one secret that Tuon shared with his brother was his mindpower. This probably came from his father, but his mum had sworn him to tell no one. Also Tuon was no longer fair and the villagers renamed him Fair Tuon Clawed. It stuck.
Roderick and Tuon followed their own paths, one as a woodland warrior and the other as a fighter and mercenary for hire. They lost contact with the village. It held too many bad memories. Eventually both decided together to move away and Keepers Dale was the decision partly because of its softer attitude to psionic power. Perhaps here Tuon could learn more about the powers he possessed?

Have most of my character fleshed out and on paper. Just have to type it in the profile. Probably will do that tomorrow.

I added in skills, equipment and such to my profile. I think I'm ready to roll.
Checked over your character and there are a couple of things
- You get one more feat human bonus, first level, track, and my bonus feat see the start of the thread- Whats your favored enemy
- What is you bonus language
- Could you put your stats for your attack and damage for all your weapons.
Once you resolve those I think your ready and after I review everyones I will look into XP bonus for backgrounds and other extras.

A couple of affiliations... sort of.
Scouts of the Spine
This group is made up primarily of rangers and scouts the are hired out to guide and protect expeditions that venture into the Dragon Spine and Demon Wastes. Fighters are recruited on a as needed basis for protecting the expeditions the Scouts lead.
Devious Dancers
This is a gypsy theater/performer guild that travels all over the three kingdoms. Its base of operations is located in Keepers Dale and the guild member usually spend the winter here and leave for the summer to perform.
Keepers Marshals
This is a group of bounty hunters that work in mostly Gilead and the surrounding area but their results have caught the attention of Forlorn and Durador to the south.
These groups above could also be a reason to head to Keepers Dale to find employment.
DM Dreamweaver |
I'm good with that, but I'd like to know if you have info on races in this. If not, then I'll get to work writing up my background.
I will post some thing tonight about the Dwarves in Valinor but don't worry Nani hasn't even started on her character yet (pesting her doesn't seem to help much) so you aren't holding anything up.

Dwarves of Valinor
The are three large dwarven clans in the three Kingdoms, the Alagor in Durador, the Hammerhand clan south of Keepers Dale and the Warlan clan in northern Gilead.
The Alagor clan lives at the base of the Three Devils and work their mithral in the volcanoes there. The majority of the clan lives in Mirord and sells their goods there. The Alagor dwarves do not like being shut up in underground caverns and prefer the one air which most other dwarves don't understand. Any of the dwarves that work foundry and metal shops find they hate any cold weather once they are away from there volcano's.
The Hammerhands live in an underground kingdom south of Keeper Dale. The entrance to the underground city is kept secret and very few non dwarves are allowed into the city. There are two dwarven brothers that own a shop in Keepers Dale and use it to trade goods and every six months the two brothers return home with a large caravan of goods.
The Warlan clan live in Norgath in the northern region of Gilead. The seasons at Norgath are always cold with only few short weeks of summer weather and the dwarves attitude often reflects this harsh region. They are often cold and have a survival of the fittest attitude.
There are several smaller dwarven clans spread around the Three Kingdoms but most are not well known. One such clan lived north of Keepers Dale but it was said that the kingdom was destroyed and the few survivors now live in the Dragon Spine mountains in small groups.

I think I got it, provided:
2. Demon is an acceptable favored enemy. If not, then what would be a common choice for a Man of Forlorn? Whatever would most plague his childhood surroundings most would be fine. I'm also considering "Animals", as they've killed his family. Let me know what you think.

For Blue Wizard
Was everyone able to download the maps and look at them? I downloaded the second one and you can't seem to zoom in very well so I will try to fix that tonight.
DM Dreamweaver |
The maps are great. Other than the zooming issue they helped do a background no end.
Could still do with a hand on the language front. Is it PHB like the deities?
Cheers
I am using the PHB Deities
for Tuon
The only other thing is you need to add you Autonomous bonus to your skills and then you are all set.
Nani Wahine |
Whilst you do that background, Nani, could you have a chat with your better half (that should put the cat among the pigeons) about how Bri meets and starts travelling with Roderick the ranger and Fair Tuon Clawed the mercenary?
If I can help then just shout out.
Cheers
I am busy today with having no kids and trying to get as much work done as I can but I was planning on doing my background tonight after we get back from going out to dinner. I will most defiantly come up with how we all end up together (or rather will have Colter do it :))
