Ohhhhh, thatttt tunnnelll!

Yeah, um guys, I remember a tunnel while in beast-form while swimming that was below the water before we entered into wonderland here.
I think we should check that secret door though. *Terin moves towards the door, grabbing Tyndal on his way by. He mutters to Tyndal* If I ever, EVER try to do something like that again, beat me senseless. Thanks.

Terin 'The Beast' Talonshift wrote:

Terin's had a rough day, what with have his eye eaten and all.

Terin thoroughly searches the filthy room, flinging waste every which way. His exploration dislodges a number of the disquieting mushrooms, forcing him to talk increasingly loud over their disquieting chorus. Fortunately, his treasure hunt pays off, as he locates an exceptionally well-made dagger and a gold ring, both of which Penkus identify as “his.”

Both the armor Tyndal found and the dagger Terin located are masterwork.

Eldin pushes upon the surface of the door, which gives way under pressure, unsealing a little from the bottom. Fingers under the crack in the door, he hefts upwards and the door slides easily into a recessed area. Unlike the previous chamber, this area is cool and dry, and smells considerably less unpleasant. Long years of neglect are apparent, for age-old cobwebs and dust trails litter the room, interrupted only by a dried trail of slime where the otyugh must have entered and exited the chamber.

Three large sea chests abut the opposite wall of the chamber.

The chests are locked.

Tyndal whispers back. Don't worry...got ya covered.

He looks at the chests. "About fricking time!"

Embile' Oyos!
Terin casts detect magic and scans over the dagger, armor and ring. If any show signs of magic he will concentrate to determine aura, if not he will turn to examine the chests and the area around them.

The newly acquired items do not radiate magic, though they are all of exceptional quality.

The chests are tightly sealed against submersion, and do not themselves radiate magic, but you receive a faint sensation the contents of one of the three chests are responsive to your scan, even though no light leaks from the trunk.

I still travel the same path, Traveling Priest, I am as well as can be expected and Yes, I have control over my mind. I made a mistake here, one I will have to live with....for a while.
The eye wants vengence on Vanthus, as do I for the crimes against nature that he has done, so for now our paths seem to run together. The eye gives me certain powers that will help in our quest so it is a necessary evil for now. I will need you when the time comes, but until then know that I will have control or I will tear it out with my beastial claws and destroy it.

"Can I have it when you're done?"

We shall see Seann.
That chest there has a magical aura within it but I can't tell what it is from or any particulars.....take care. I will be ready to heal if need be.

Fiendish Symbiont

Spoiler:
Admit it. He bugs you and you want to knife him in his sleep. You can tell me. Who am I going to tell? Let's open some chests!

Male Human Fighter 3

Harven, you want to check this over first?

Tyndal readies his crowbar to open them up.

Jackpot!

You worked hard for it; it's about time you got a payoff. By the way, if you ever want to assume trap checks, you can make a list of rolls in advance if you like. Sort of a "if we hit a door or chest we always do this..."

The chests are each DC25 Break, or DC25 Open Locks.

Male Human Fighter 3

Taking 20, with Tyndal's Strength of 16 and Crowbar (+2), he can hit 25.

(But not sure if you can take 20 on a break check)

Sure, those chests aren't going to scurry off or anything.

Tyndal tears into the first chest, clawing and battering it to pieces with his prybar, causing a cascade of copper and silver coins to spill forth from the ruined container like a glittering, jingling waterfall (assuming someone was psycho enough to count it all, it’s 7500 copper and 1500 silver). The coins range from the common to the exotic, some dating back before the founding of Sassarine.

Do you wish to break into the other two chests as well?

Male Human Sorcerer 2

"If we break the chests, what are we going to carry all the coins in? Just a thought that's occurred to me just now," says Anders as he helps to collect the spilled coins.

“Good point … but how do we get three great big heavy chests out through an underwater passage?”

By not making a big deal out of it and hoping the DM isn't gonna worry about little crap like carrying treasure about. Doh! Too late.

Um ... look over there! What in the world can that be??

Eldin Farstrider wrote:

Yeah, the thought had occurred to me already, but I hadn't come up with a decent "fudge over" yet...Maybe something in one of the other chests would help?

Eldin thinks for a moment. “Alright, let’s see what’s in the other chests. Anything valuable looking and portable we’ll take now and then try to find our way out of this place. Once we are sure we can get back to the city, we can return with some sturdy sacks and retrieve the rest of these coins – so long as we do not spend too long about it, they will likely still be here when we return. Mister Maelglum, if you would be so good…” the priest gestures to the other chests.

"We might need all this cashy money later. After this little adventure is said and done, I'm going to be needing more than a few stiff drinks. I don't care if we have to go to the Abyss and back, as long as I get about twelve ale-and-absinthes out of the deal."

“This Vanthus Vonderboren certainly strikes me as an evil and lawless man … but I cannot see us having to journey to the Abyss to track him down. If we ever do, I’ll buy you those drinks.”

Seann Eoghan wrote:

"Ah, my apologies then. I suppose the planar rift here has just made me somewhat nervous ... and yes, I think we could all do with a drink once we get out of here ... speaking of which ..." Eldin turns to the queer little man and asks "Vanthus, what do you plan to do once we get back to the city?"

At some point, Eldin quietly asks Terin if Penkus' eye recognises, or can tell him anything about the qlm.

Eldin Farstrider wrote:

I'll let Terin reply to that, unless he needs more info.

Shoot, I had forgotten Harven doesn’t have Open Locks. He could hit with take 20, due to his dex, but it’s trained only. Aight, smashy-smashy time. Poor Harven, always mistaken for the rogue.

Eldin Farstrider wrote:

Can’t I stay with you? I’d like a drink too! Maybe we could find something new to eat, before my children come.

Deciding some questions are better put off until later, the party hacks into the second chest with enthusiasm. Forcing open the lid at last, Tyndal unveils to the party a dozen velvet bags, ten of which contain gold pieces (100 even in each bag) and two laden with assorted gemstones.

As Tyndal pummels the final watertight coffer to flinders, there is a great commotion of shattered glass as multicolored liquids spray out from the chest, dousing the fighter; more of a mishap than an actual trap. As the remaining fluids drain away into the floor, Tyndal alternately grows fish scales, skin made of bark, and then vanishes momentarily, before returning to normal. On the plus side, he feels absolutely fantastic.

An anguished cry escapes the queer little man, perhaps sensing something the rest of you do not. Stifling his torment, he proceeds to give Tyndal “the stink eye.”

Sifting through the soggy remnants of the chest, you recover a wand of some sort, and a small jade coffer, inside of which is ensconced a light brown gemstone. A small scrip affixed to the inner lid identifies this as an “elemental gem,” whatever that means.

Eldin Farstrider wrote:

His real name is Lerod, he was left by Vanthus when they were attacked by a giant bug creature. Looks to me like his mind may have been compromised. Poor soul...

We need a Rogue, someone needs to multiclass, either Harven or Terin is probably the best option but it really screws up Terin with spells. Post thoughts on the discussion thread all. Maybe just get a wand of Knock or something.

Eldin eyes the shattered remains of the potion bottles sadly. “I should have had Fellian teach me his trick with picking locks before I left Cauldron,” he says. “We need a locks guy.” He then eyes the queer little man thoughtfully for a moment. “Are you any good with locks Lerod?” he asks.

Once that conversation is resolved…

“Well, I think we can split up those smaller bags between us easily enough, and the wand and this elemental gem – interesting – should be easy enough to carry. Let’s take that for now, try to figure our way out of here, and come back for the silver and copper if its feasible later.”

Eldin Farstrider wrote:
“Are you any good with locks Lerod?”

“Which one of us is Lerod again? Hmm, ok, but I’m only changing once.”

On the subject of locks.

“I’m not sure, but I’d be willing to give it a shot.”

Feel free to make some Knowledge Arcana or The Planes rolls to determine what the elemental gem does.

Male Human Fighter 3

Tyndal flexes and grins like a maniac. "I feel....BETTER!"

He does a little dance, being full of energy. He takes whatever he's offered to carry. If he still has room, he will fill his pack with silver coins.

"Sorry about that last chest. They never taught us much about lockpicking in the army. We ready to go? Cuz Im ready to go. Man, I feel good!"

M Human (Oeridian) Wizard (Transmuter) 1 / Favored Soul 2 (Lirr)

Knowledge (arcana): 12 + 8 = 20
Lnowege ( religion): 10 + 8 = 18

EDIT: I belive that should be read as 'knowledge'.

Knowledge Smalidge!

Seann recalls the orc shamans using these items against his people in the wars that ravaged his homeland. Those were red, and brought forth fire elementals to burn the fields, farms, and families, so Seann surmises the brown gem corresponds to some other type of element, likely earth.

The gem activates by breaking or smashing it in some way.

“Sounds like a one use only item then Seann,” comments Eldin. “Hang onto it for now. We should save it for when we really might need it. Now, Terin, lead us towards the tunnel that you found earlier.”

M Human (Oeridian) Wizard (Transmuter) 1 / Favored Soul 2 (Lirr)

Seann nods in assent.

"No such thing as a bad magic item. They all have their uses, even if it's just to look pretty."

Yes, Kimo-sabe.

*Terin moves towards the edge of the water and points downward.* It was down there and will most likely require a bit of swimming to navigate. Perhaps we should figure out who is our best swimmer and send them down with a good length of rope trailing them.
Swim +5 in beast-form.

Not much of a swimmer here...

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid 3 Experience points-3000

Hey Eldin, you have some rope? Lets tie your length and mine together incase the tunnel is especially long. We can take our time tying(take 10) them together. Then I will shift into Beast-form and the best rope handler left can tie it around my midsection. I will swim through the tunnel and see where it leads. Anyone else have some rope, I wouldn't mind a couple more lengths tied on to ensure we have enough length.

Male Human Fighter 3

Tyndal rummages through his pack. "I got 50' of rope here."

He hands it to Eldin and fills the empty space with more silver.

Seeing the Queer Little Man giving him the stink eye, he walks over.

"What's wrong with you? I already apologized for the potions. We have a problem?"

“Good idea Terin,” says Eldin, rummaging in his pack. “Ah, here it is, a fifty foot length of strong silk rope.” He hands it over to Terin. “That’s 150 feet … anyone else got any?”

He then looks over to Tyndal and the queer little man. Ever the diplomat, he speaks up. “I don’t think there’s any problem – it was a group decision to open the chests in that way, so no-one is to blame. We’ll get back to the surface, all have a drink together and all will be well with the world; agreed?”

M Human (Oeridian) Wizard (Transmuter) 1 / Favored Soul 2 (Lirr)
Tyndal Maelglum wrote:

"Psst. You probably shouldn't bring that up. He's squirrely as it is. And I'm none too happy about it, either. I mean, don't get me wrong, it was an accident. We do need a good lock-picker-type, though. That just proved that blunt instruments don't solve everything."

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid/4

Terin takes his time binding the ropes together and ensuring a good knot at each connection.(taking 10s).
"There. That gives us around 150' of line. I will shift now and would the one of you who is best with knots take your time and tie the rope to my midsection. "Knot" too tight..."
Terin shifts into Beastform and begins taking deep, controlled breathes to saturate his lungs and bloodstream with as much oxygen as possible.

Just checked – Harven has 100 foot of rope and with a dex of 20 is likely to be good with knots. I’m not sure if mevers will be around much, so I think it’s probably safe to say that Harven will volunteer his rope (make it 250 foot rope total now) and his services in checking knots (take 10 result is 15)

Tyndal Maelglum wrote:
"We have a problem?"

“Sorry Tyndal, I just thought maybe we could all be one big family.”

Harven happily hands over the rope. You see him wince a bit as he ties off his end of the rope, and when you inquire about it, he mentions he has been experiencing ever-increasing abdominal pain.

“We better get him up to the city quick. He’s small.”

We’re going to gloss over the fact that your packs are stuffed to the brim with coins and say it’s still a DC15 swim check to get through the tunnel, which is about a 70-foot swim, followed by another 20 up and 50 over. Even though technically you can’t take 20, um, that’s just silly to have you potentially drown now).

Indeed!

...swimming...

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid/4

I have a +5 or more in swim(I think I have some bonus for beastform)and could take 10 to hit the DC for the swim so we could assume that Terin makes several trips to assist the party through the narrow tunnel and into freedom.

Male Human Fighter 3

Tyndal nods at QLM and jumps into the water.

He knows its going to be a difficult swim with his armor on, but he's got no choice.

Swim Check (1d20 2=19)

(He can also strip from his breastplate after arriving and swim back to help others. Without armor, his "Take 10" is 18)

That'll work. If I can squeeze it in before my appt. I'll post where you pop up in the city.

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid 3 Experience points-3000

Someone should compile a list of our supplies, gear and Phat Loot that we found. We are gonna want to sell off the unusable, identify the unidentified, and buy better gear. I nominate anyone but me to make the list, I always miss stuff when making a list.
Also are we current on XP? I know we aren't close to leveling but I wanted to make sure we are up-to-date since we are probably having a bit of a reprieve here.
