Indicating the room to the northeast (to the right of the den).

Perhaps we should hole up in there until everyone is well?

Male Whisper Gnome Scout 1 / Ranger 1

"OK, sounds like a plan. If you guys (motions to those still standing) want to bring them (motions to those who are paralysed), I'll duck in and check the room out."

Spot Check (1d20+8=16)

The 10’ by 15’ room is untidy, but thankfully dry enough to lie down comfortably. A few supplies are scattered about, mostly wood pallets and a few moldy tarps, though Harven spies an aged but well made bronze pry bar among the debris.

With a little work, the party manages to snap the ramshackle door back into place with a loud pop. The room appears solid and defensible, should anything hungry sniff you out.

After helping to drag in one of the wounded, “Vanthus” busies himself by poking about the tarps and pallets.

Eldin lies rigidly and awkwardly for the next fifteen minutes or so, before sensation begins to return to his extremities.

Terin sits up after about a minute and a half and stares at Eldin for a moment before elbowing him and saying "Get-up, you big drama-queen, the paralysis wasn't all that potent!" 15 rounds, dude, not minutes! ;P

He's had a rough day, what with being encased in slime, set on fire by Seann, and all.

Let me know if you want to attempt to rest long enough to recover spells (if you do, the oddball volunteers to help watch).

Per the discussion thread, you now all have 3 action points each to play with.

Male Whisper Gnome Scout 1 / Ranger 1

Harven spends most of his time hunting through the rubble and what not. He pulls out the bronze crowbar, "Sean, you lot your crowbar earlier didn't you, well, I found you a new one."

Male Human Fighter 3

"Its wonderful to be able to speak again...move again...not being eaten alive by acid again. Remind me to never pull on dead bodies that don't want to come out of the water. Ugh."

Tyndal hears something about a crowbar and pulls out his, now bent into a "C" shape from the warehouse explosion.

"I need a new one. Pretty sure this one is done for"

"I don't think that was, er, me; rather, it was our mutual acquaintance here, Mr. Maelglum," states Seann, lapsing back into his normal (convoluted) pattern of speech. He remains a bit pale, though.

Male Human Fighter 3

"Well, what's the plan? We going to rest or keep moving? The less time I spend in these sewers, the sooner I can get back to the tavern."

Still watching regularly, just so you all know. Giving you some time to make up your minds; figured you'd be busy checking on the status of your items and all. :)

Male Human Fighter 3

Speaking of resting, I'm not a caster and don't trust "Vanthus". Tyndal will stand watch with him.

ah .... that makes more sense.

"After the couple of days that I've had, I think I'd rather just lie here for a bit," grumbles Eldin, but he stands, brushing down what remain of his burnt and slime ridden clothes.

"Alright, what next? Do we continue onwards? It may be worth making sure everyone is at full strength before that," he says, eyeing the wand of curing. "Who remains wounded?"

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid 3 Experience points-3000

I have a slight wound, stings like fire though. (14 of 18hp)
I am quite prepared to press onward without wasting valuable resources as yet.
I have no real idea where we should head next so I will follow the rest of you guys' lead.

SoB. Lost all yesterday to the coming ice storm, now I'm a full day behind online and irl. If Mike drops off the boards, just check the barometer in Detroit.

The picture I'm getting is quick respite without full rest; sound right? Might want to scour the other room for treasure from that last fight too.

Male Human Fighter 3

"I got a scratch, but nothing that will slow me down"

Down 5hp

"Now that everyone's feeling better, lets check that room"

Search Check (1d20+1=5)

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid 3 Experience points-3000

*Taking 20 on the searching*
I could stand to take a bit more of a break, lets just take our time on the searching.

“We’d do best to have you two at full strength, if we run into any more trouble,” says Eldin. He gratefully takes his wand back from Harven, then touches it to himself, Tyndal and Terin, allowing the positive energy to flow into them. (9 hp for Eldin, 8 hp for Tyndal, 5 hp for Terin – used 3 charges)

Once that is done, he assists the others in searching the chamber. (Aid Another search check: 11.)

During the careful search, the cleric makes time to wander over towards Seann. "Don't beat yourself up about the fire," he says in a low voice. "You did well - that was what broke the beast's back in the end, and were it not for my mishap with the lantern, little harm would have been done."

While a search of the room proper proves unfruitful, a glittering object at the bottom of the vacated pool catches your eye.

"Even so..."

Seann seems distracted, and doesn't finish his sentence.

Male Human Fighter 3

"Ooo shiny!"

Tyndal wades into the slimy pool to get the shiny object.

Eldin claps Seann on his muscled shoulder. “The gods have blessed you friend, we’ve all seen that. I’m sure they have more in store for you that immolating your companions. Why, I have served Fharlanghn faithfully for many years, but I have never had such an obvious manifestation of my God’s will as we saw occur to you within this hour. Do not sink into despair but look inside you. It would not surprise me if the gods have seen fit to gift you with some form of clerical power, and that is truly something to be joyful for.”

Tyndal, forced to take a quick plunge under the surface of the pool to snatch at the object, finds the water here is neither cold nor entirely unpleasant. The glittering article turns out to be the silvered clasp of a small, oiled leather pouch.

Contents:

Spoiler:
1 gold piece
4 silver pieces
A masterwork dagger made of cold iron.

Male Human Fighter 3

"The water's not bad at all. Looks like a pouch of coins and a pixiesticker. Anybody interested?"

"Where to next? And is the wierdo coming with us?"

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid 3 Experience points-3000

I could hold onto the dagger if no one else would like it, sure is a fair bit better then my current one, although I don't use it in combat much...
I believe the little man will be accompanying us, much as the idea bothers me, but yes, I think we should press on.
Are there any further chambers in this area to be explored? What are our list of choices.

Tyndal Maelglum wrote:

The Queer Little Man finishes swallowing “something” he discovered on the floor of the chamber and pipes up with, “Here I am! Ready to go to…’The City!”

Terin 'The Beast' Talonshift wrote:

I'm the map, I'm the map, I'm the MAP!

As far as unexplored areas, you've the former den on the upper left, a set of double doors to the southeast, the buzzing room from before, and a tunnel leading west.

Male Human Fighter 3

Tyndals hands the dagger to Terin.

"Since we're healed..how about the buzzing door?"

"I just don't understand it. I've never offered a prayer to ...anyone, as far as I can recall. I don't even know who ...or what... has decided that I'm worthy of their 'divine attention'."

Just checking in. I'll be awake for another half hour.

That is down tunnel further and I don't believe we have ensured that this area is clear of danger yet, my suggestion is to finish this immediate area before the Buzzing Door. Perhaps into that Den-looking room?

I go where you go.

"Agreed Terin," says Eldin. "Let's get going."

Hmmm ... has the Superstar contest slowed things down a bit here?

Eldin Farstrider wrote:

Heh, yeah, across the board forums wise I have been noticing it. No worries though, take your time. Will give a den desc. in a bit.

The companions creep slowly from the large main chamber into the “den” area indicated by the Queer Little Man. The square room is 10 feet square, abhorrently grubby, and smells of rotting meat and wet animal. Thankfully, these beasts are at least intelligent enough not to defecate where they sleep and eat.

As you scan the room for potential danger or treasure, you detect a faint mewling noise, and you notice the accumulated debris in the far corner quiver lightly as something beneath wriggles about.

Male Human Fighter 3

Tyndal will move the debris away with his boot.

"Anybody want a freaky carrion-dog puppy?"

M Human (Oeridian) Wizard (Transmuter) 1 / Favored Soul 2 (Lirr)

"I ... don't really think that's the best of ideas."

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid 3 Experience points-3000

If there are pups we need to kill them. To let them live without a mother would be torturous to the beasts. Killing them would be the humane thing to do.

Tyndal pushes aside the rubbish, revealing the remnants of a litter of newborn Carcass Eaters. Several of the tiny creatures have perished due to neglect, and more than one petite carcass displays needle-like post-mortem gnaw marks.

The sole remaining pup, all matted fur and wrinkly skin, rolls out of the nest with a welcoming yip and looks up at you with deep black, clueless eyes.

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid 3 Experience points-3000

I don't know what it is lately, this will be the 3rd puppy I've killed in game in the last 3 months....Guess I need to take a "Puppy Slayer" PRC or something...maybe Favored Enemy:Pooch....

Terin pulls out his new dagger, tests it's edge and looks at the pup with steely eyes "Sorry fella, twould be a worse fate to let you suffer and die." And he runs the blade across it's neck, releasing a flow of blood.

Male Human Fighter 3

"Poor puppy. Buzzing door, double doors, or tunnel?"

Cripes, I thought the puppy eyes would at least garner a momentary twinge of guilt. Nature is a unsympathetic master, it would seem. That’s a pass on raising animals companions then…rofl…

Good choice!

Those things are dangerous, and they eat up all the good food nearby.

The strange man plunks himself down onto the floor and begins to shovel handfuls of rat-puppy entrails into his mouth with gusto.

Male Wood Elf (+2str,+2dex,-2con,-2int) Druid 3 Experience points-3000

Twould seem that our new "friend" is a tad hungry... I think we should try the double doors next gang. Hey, "Vanthus", the liver is one of the most nutritious parts, it is that part right there. *points to a small, dark and bloody piece on the floor.*

I gave up the animal companion ability in favor of Spontaneous Rejuvenation. No pets for me! ;P

Male Human Fighter 3

"Harven, you want to help me check the doors?"

Tyndal moves away quickly, as the sound of Vanthus gorging himself on the puppy makes him ill.

Seann visibly blanches. He shoots a disgusted glance at the queer little man. "I've eaten sheep's stomachs and fried spiders, but my gods, man. I draw the line at raw dog entrails. That's barbaric, it is."

The mage shakes his head, makes a face, and walks quickly towards Tyndal.

"I can help with that."

Unabashed, the man finishes gorging himself, then places a few extra puppies into his pockets for later.

Examining the entryway with the double doors hanging ajar, Seann, Harven, and Tyndal realize they are on the other side of the left fork not chosen from earlier. From here, the three men make out the main junction continuing straight ahead, and the tight service tunnel they originally entered by is just down the tunnel and to the right.

Hey DM, I know you have a bunch of stuff going on but I am lost in these sewers, could you post a quick drawing showing where we have been/are and what is left to explore? I am having a horrible time making the descriptions work in my head.
