Surfing amazon.co.uk I found even more Pathfinder Goodness in the pipeline for 2008:
Pathfinder Chronicles.
Ken Marable |
Corrected link (US Amazon at least):
Pathfinder Chronicles
Here's the UK:
Pathfinder Chronicles
or search Amazon for "Pathfinder Chronicles".

Dude, thanks, I tried to follow the last link and failed.
I was then overcome by a wave of laziness which prevented me from searching it myself. My state was exacerbated by the certainty that whatever I was going to be tantalized by was not coming out for another 6-7 months, and that when I read it I would slip into a schizophrenic funk: joy in knowing that my favorite authors are cranking out great campaign materials and sadness in knowing I HAVE TO FRICKIN' WAIT FOREVER!
Well, Thank you for indulging my laziness. Damn you for making me look at it.

We have just announced Pathfinder Chronicles, a new line of support material for Pathfinder. This supplementary material is designed to complement Pathfinder and illuminate the campaign setting, but none of these products are required for play. As such, these supplements will not automatically be included in ongoing Pathfinder subscriptions; they must be ordered separately.
The first four Pathfinder Chronicles supplements are:
- Pathfinder Chronicles: Rise of the Runelords Map Folio (January), a collection of maps detailing key locations in Rise of the Runelords
- Pathfinder ChroniclesGazetteer (January), a 64-page book containing information about all of the major kingdoms and cities of the world, including Absalom, Cheliax, Varisia, and more, with a poster map of the world
- Pathfinder Chronicles: Guide to Korvosa (February), a guide to the city featured in the Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path
- Pathfinder Chronicles: Classic Monsters Revisited (March), a book detailing ten classic monsters and how they've been modified to fit into the world of Pathfinder
Note that the covers for all of these products are placeholders; the final covers will be substantially different.

Pathfinder Chronicles: Classic Monsters Revisited (March), a book detailing ten classic monsters and how they've been modified to fit into the world of Pathfinder
The big question: Which ten monsters?

Hmm. Now I'm torn. I can preorder here or at Amazon. Since they aren't part of my subscription, a Paizo order is full price plus shipping, vs. free shipping and a 30% discount at Amazon.
Ordering all 4 as a single shipment is $73.87 from Paizo after shipping; $46.88 from Amazon. The difference gets worse if I don't want to wait until March for all 4.

That information is, I suspect, still months away from being revealed.

Here are the ones we've committed to so far: orcs, ogres, goblins, hobgoblins, kobolds, trolls, and bugbears. Were I a betting man I'd say gnolls will almost certainly make the cut.
No dragons, undead, or fey this time around. If the book is successful, we'll return with "themed" follow-up volumes. "Humanoid" might be considered the theme of this one, except that we're throwing in a couple giants just for the hell of it.

It's nice to have a gamer wife who doesn't mind me buying up all the supplements. :)
It's nice having an unemployed wife whose mantra is "you're the one making the money, spend it however you want." :D
(On the flip side of this, I must respect that she stays at home with a 1-year-old all day and, when she wants to go out to a movie, shopping, etc. I make all effort to see to it that the activity can be completed.)

As the married father of a 21-month-old, Fate, I must say you're a wise man. :-)

Wow!
Map Folio, Gazetteer, Guide to Korvosa, Classic Monsters Revisited, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Adventure Gear 2, Critical Fumble Cards ... the list of goodness just goes on and on.
I was realistic enough not to swear off WotC products after Dragon and Dungeon got canceled, but looking at Paizo's up-coming product list versus the kind of stuff coming out of Wizards ... Paizo will be getting a lot more of my $ than Wizards. I might get a few more Eberron books to complete my collection and pick up a few of the Compendiums, but jeez, how many monster manuals and complete this or thats do I need? I look at Paizo's stuff and get excited; I look at WotC and go, "Eh."
After cursing y'all for taking my money, I gotta' say, thanks for being the most exciting publisher in the industry these days.

And by "months" away, of course, I meant "minutes."
And I'm still gunning for getting harpies in the book too...

Did you have 24 hour diaper duty while your wife was reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

Excellent idea! This sort of support for a product is just what it needs to really make it come alive.

Well... we might not have put all our cards on the table just yet. We have some meetings coming up.
At the very least, you should be able to combine these with your Pathfinder subscription shipments to save some money... and there may—I say may—be other reasons why subscribers might want to order from us. Stay tuned.

Might that reason have something to do with pdf copies...

Yeah, I'd sign in a heartbeat.
Now, where to find the spare change necessary to get these when they arrive...

Good enough for me. Paizo has always been more than fair in the past. I'll hold off on any orders until we get closer to that point.
Thanks!

include me in the PDF/print bundle bunch too.
Gods, I've not been this psyched about a campaign setting since, well at least since Faerun came out.

It is just as well that Bullywugs are unavailable, they are not designed particularly well. Their ability score bonuses/penalties make them largely worthless for anything but combat classes (+6 con, -3 int, wis and cha... if I remember correctly). On top of this, Monsters of Faerun states that as many as 10% of all Bullywugs have at least one level of cleric, but they have a large penalty to wisdom?!
Paizo should take the opportunity to "fix" problematic critters... And while you are working over the frogmen, tear apart and put the Ogre Mage back together (probably the worst CR 8 design of all time)...

yeah my wife did the same. Thank goodness she finished the book in under a day.
I'm lucky that way.
