Hey, all. I'm surprised no one has mentioned anything about the mixing of iconics on the cover of #144. Just in case you all missed it, the monk from STAP and the paladin or fighter (?) and red garbed rogue or ranger (?) from AoW are heading down to Golismorga together through the Temple of the Ancient Ones from The Lightless Depths.
OK. Discuss.

My (seriously warped) theories on this:
1) It's a metaphor for the cooperation of the Jade Ravens and your PCs in STAP? (Yeah, right!)
2) Both teams are enrolled in the Adventurers' Guild 'Class Exchange and Diversification' program?
3) They're really dopplegangers - both original iconic teams have been kidnapped and replaced. Who can save them before this unholy blending of teams goes any further...?

Well the paladin and the red-garbed rogue regularly made it into the AoW iconic party, although they were originally part of the other iconic party, along with the wolf headed girl and the bald sorcerer, no one complained too much about that (or did they....)?
And on the cover of the Dungeon with Kings of the Rift in it, you've got the bald headed sorcerer mixing it up with the AoW iconics against some fire giants (its a bit hard to spot, but im pretty sure its him).

First of all... I love that people noticed this!
As for why it happened... the general idea is that ALL of our iconics go on these adventures. For the actual art for the adventures themselves, we generally limit ourselves to a group of four who remain constant throughout all 12 parts, but when we do covers, anything goes. The cover's more than an image from one adventure; it's the magazine's face. By keeping all 11 of our iconics on semi-regular rotation through these covers, we keep them as part of Dungeon's face.

I haven't received my issue in the mail yet and the Paizo web site isn't displaying the cover for issue 144 yet. That's my excuse for not noticing. Also: the iconics need names.

Agreed. Character sheets would be awesome too. The equipment for the Wizard on the cover of 143 has been bugging me since I got it. I got the Capote of Dragonfly Wings, the punching dagger, and I think the staff of Fire, but there's a rod of some sort. . .
