Hammers and tile = good times

When I was trying to figure out how many hit points that big pig had that that kid shot in Alabammy.

Yeah I am always like that person most have a +23 in something random.

Oh man...

The first three times I read 'kitchen,' I mistook it to be 'kitten.'

You do the math.

Totally geeked out about this - can you imagine the gaming possibilities with this? :D :D :D

On another note, my hubby keeps wanting to take me to Best Buy, walk up to the Geek Squad and ask them techie questions (he's a computer tech by trade). Why would I be there, you may ask?

To Geek-check 'em. ;)

I have a 'Whoa I am Geek' moment every time I show people my tattoo and have to explain to them that the strange writing is elvish. My daughters name is Arwen (the reason the tattoo has elvish on it) and when people always ask 'Where did you come up with that name?' and I have to tell them I got it from Lord of the Rings. You pick a name out of a fantasy book people give you the raised eyebrow look and quickly usher they children away, you pick one out of the bible you get approving nodes and smiles, go figure.

If my dad had his way, I would be Luthien Tinuviel and my ma vetoed that idea. Oh well...

Seriously.

People ask me the same thing, and I always just say, "Oh, it's a name from Literature--I was an English major [shrug and cant head, insert half-smile; change subject]."

Then, of course, there's always the people who can't get it right the first ten times; they keep saying "Erin."

"No, it's 'Arwen.'"

"Ohhh...hi, Erin."

Laying in bed, reading the new edition of the GURPS Basic Set: Campaigns. Not terribly geeky, in and of itself. Except that the hubby was reading the GURPS Basic Set: Characters next to me.

Ahh...Geek love. :P

Isn't it grand! There's nothing like laying on the bed next to your sweetie at night, filling out character sheets with fifty books between you.

What's even funnier is that I told him about that today and it took him a few moments to realize "Hey, that is geeky."

My husband, AngusKing on the boards, rarely posts because he doesn't want to be labeled a geek. He is in denial, cuz wearing T-shirts around town that say "if it aint Dwarven it's crap" or "who died and made you dungeon master" do such a great job of hiding his geekiness ;P

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt! Tell him to his embrace his geekiness, and come to the Paizo boards more often where he can be Free To Be A Geek. :)

I read that thread and immediately thought about if Yak-folk could mate with Bison and what the result would be? Tauric Yak-folk? Bison-folk, a considerably less intelligent humanoid than the Yak-folk? Bah, not even worth really thinking about....

I was going over the blueprints of a new building with a client, and was disheartened to notice that the IT department was ~70 feet from the coffee machine. Except, I didn't think 70', I thought 'Damn, that's more than a double move.'

Where I come from, 70 feet from the coffee is great, cuz you get to chat with more folks along the way.

Lilith I'm totaly with you, but apparently they are going to retail at 10K sterling and only be available to hotels to go in the lobby.

I'm dedicated but I'm not spending ten grand and opennign a hotel to get one of those. I'll wait for the price to come down.

Makes me wish my Overboss still owned his hotel that he had so I could convince him to get one of those things! "Yeah, I just want to set it up and play - er, make sure it's working."

So I was at work, and a client's account number ended in "CR62" and I thought... That's one tough monster.

If dad had had his way I would be named either T-bone or Rufus. I swear he's out to get me.

1. I made good catch with a frizbee, "Whatcha think dad, dexterity Thirteen?"
2. Assigning stats for the order of the stick characters.

Wifey: 'what do you want for your Birthday?'

Me: 'I'll make up a shopping cart at my favorite store, how much can I spend?' Runs to computer, and begins putting together Paizo order of geeky goodies :)

I get a brand new acoustic guitar, and what do I do to celebrate? I learn to play the chocobo theme from Final Fantasy.

Let's see what else...

I bought the Metallica song "Call of Ktulu" from iTunes...because...y'know...KTULU! (Awesome song, though.)

I was on a mission trip to a poor coal-mining town in Virginia, and as I learned more and more about mining and the local area, I was more and more inspired to start my next D&D campaign in a mining village.

Also on that trip, I had forty bucks with me to buy whatever I needed along the way. When I was done, I had seven bucks or so left and I thought, "Yes, I can buy a new set of dice when I get home!"

I would say your last geek moment was immediately reporting this to us after you ordered.

And that would make my last geek moment be taking the time to point this out.

Ack; just had one a couple minutes ago; I know it was cause as soon as I said it I laughed and thought of this board thread.

We were punching in at work and I asked the lady who sits next to me if she had read the new Harry Potter book yet; she said no, but they do have two of them at home; I said not caught up in the craze eh; she said no; I said made your savings throw eh; she looked at me with a glazed over expression not knowing what I was talking about; I went; doh; what a geek. :)

~sighs~ Thanks Lilith! Just what I needed, one more web comic to read! Thanks! ~grrrrrr~

Here's mine. I was, for the last week in an very boring class and I realized that the only people in the room who would even know what a ability check is were my sister and friend(who were taking the class as well). The other people in the class were the "hip" and "with it" teens, so I looked over at my sister and, with a dramatic sigh said "Tsk,tsk, such commoners! Sigh!"

Not my last one, but still my favorite.

We were having a riot on the rec yard (I work in a prison) and the wind and large size of the rec yard was giving us some difficulty in the placement of our chemical agents to help quell the situation.

The riot had moved to the far corner and other officers were still enroute that direction with additional agents. I had a 37mm with a scat round (shoots 5 flaming disks of CS) and was attempting to break up a particularly nasty beating happening in a far corner. I wasn't sure I could get the round where it was needed but gave it a shot.

Bam, fired it off and I was on mark. Of course, then my inner geek took over as I held the 37mm triumphantly above my head declaring:

Crit!

I just watched at the 4e videos on YouTube.

(according the the Surgeon General I just wasted as much of my life as if I had smoked three cigarettes..)

First, can someone tell the dialup user here what the heck was behind that link that Lilith put up about a 'Microsoft Surface'?

Second, geeky moments...

Last plain-geek moment: I continue to refuse to send text messages in anything but plain, pure English. no txt-tlk for me!

Last computer-geek moment: Spending my day off wrapped in a tangle of patch cable with a desktop on one side, a laptop on the other, and a shiny new laptop between, transferring files of vital nature across - like my PDFs of Dungeon and my copy of the Autorealm mapping program.

Last gamer-geek moment: Making mental plans to go out to Red Rock Canyon with a pack of graph paper and the like so I can sketch out a realistic canyon and cliff for my poor, unsuspecting players to get into fights along.

Kassil wrote:

Same with me!

all of my friends tell me it saves alot of time, but with me, I have to spend forever decoding their messages!

anyway, my last geek moment was-walking down an aisle in Wal-Mart, talking all kinds of dnd tactics with my brother, and having people look at us like we were ailiens from outer space. (ha ha, commoners)

Kassil wrote:

It is an advanced touch pad / screen.

The impressive part is that it can handle multiple interactions at the same time.

On of the example videos is a screen full of pictures, and a person is moving two at a time to sift through them.

I think it was brought up because it is about the size of a small coffee table, and would be wonderful for displaying battlemaps.

I commonly comment on people who are tempted to do stupid things and tell them to 'make their Wisdom check'. Always fun to explain that one to people who don't roleplay.
