I finally figured it out with vandemonium's poem! :)
ok, i have the list of the colors, and i still have no idea whatsoever.

Glad it helped someone! The only other clue I can think of to help those still struggling (I do feel for ya, I was there with you until late yesterday) is this. Since Mike S. was involved with D&D this question heralds back to the 80's red box that got me hooked on gaming. What was the name of the company that released that edition of D&D?
That with the poem should spell it out for ya ;o)
Mods - if this is too, too much of a clue feel free to snip :o) I'm not trying to give too much away, but I know how frustrated I was getting...

And if you don't mind, I am throwing in the cards. So if someone has solved it, feel free to send me a walkthrough of how it was solved.
Thanks.

I sent you something. It spells it out clearly but falls short giving it away completely.

Heya, I have been away for a few days and am just getting back into this. First, I left thinking the answer may be a sequence of 7 digits, but reading through it seems like everyone is saying it is a sequence of 7 letters. Is this correct, is the answer a sequence of letters?
Also, people have been saying the location of the big T marks a specific stone. But, to me it looks like the big T is over that slender stone lying on its side, like an alter, in the middle of the circle. This makes no sense to me. Is it supposed to mark the center top stone farthest away from us? Or, is the stone my mouse is over when the big T appears the marked stone?
I am going to try this:
- number each stone starting with the top stone (some numbers will have to be inferred by counting in from the sides and knowing there are 26 stones - 2x the number between the horizontal lines.
- mark each number with the color that appears when you mouse over it
- put them in ROYGBIV order
- replace each number with the corresponding letter of the alphabet.
Now the trick here is to know where the 1st stone is!!!
Am I on the right track??

Well, that didn't work out as I expected. Depending upon which stone is Blue and which is Indigo I got:
fspilbj or fspiblj
If I write ROYGBIV and then put the corresponding number or count next to each colors letter with big T marking stone 1, then I get:
erohkai
Which is also a bust.. ah... Ok, that is my attention span.
Goodnight.

I have solved it but i must say that you people that have created this puzzle are EVIL. I look back now at the posts about people solving it and the clues that they give you. Now i see where they all fit in. I congratualate all those that solved it before me and those that will solve it after me. To those that have yet to solve it, i wont give anything away, i say Good Luck

dang! figuring out where to start took me quite a while despite all the clues. i guess i was distracted by the big t-shaped beacon in the sky. not a good place to start at all! i was also snared by the siren-song of numbers for quite a while. for anyone still working, you can avoid numbers all together if you like, and if you insist on using them, by all means, don't start with 1! for best results, follow the beacon to its source. from t here, it's a race against the clock to the beginning. best of luck.

I'll say this:
The position where the "T" shows up isn't important.
Infer from that what you will. :P
Oh man, I've been working at this for a long time and I just got it. It is definitely one of those things that make you want to curse yourself for not figuring it out earlier. I was REALLY, REALLY overthinking... Thanks, the last 2 hints helped me FINALLY figure it out.
Good luck to everyone else who was as stumped as I was.

I actually just got it myself. I asked the staff not to tell me how to solve the puzzle, and I was just as puzzled as most of you were. Thanks to some of the clues various posters on this messageboard gave. They helped. Once you got it, it actually seems pretty easy. Realizing that it wasn't numbers really helped.
Good luck to everyone else! Can't wait to see what Mike cooks up next.

Can you solve the mystery?
Woo hoo! I had to rush home from work just to keep working on this. I finally got it!!
It was jail house rock's post that set me straight to it in one try.
I have to admit though, that Vic's comment that it did not matter which language you spoke caused me to move from alphabets to numbers and that was keeping me out. But, now I understand what he meant when he added not(Elvish or Klingon). Vic it would have been better if you had said not Japanese or Chinese. I am just gripping now, because it took me so long to get to the answer - it is all your fault!! :)

It's more misleading than that. It works in English, German, or French but not Esperanto, Romanian or Spanish. Whether or not it works in a given language is very up in the air.

Well glad I could help, because I still don't see what the big T is all about.
Maybe I could try all the sevel letter combinations of the alphabet. Yay, that should not take too long!!
Now I feel all spiteful.
You're right. You don't see what the big T is all about. Once you figure THAT out, I think you're home free.
