If you didn't send it to the art director, Sean Glenn, then you probably won't hear a response on it. Make sure you send all art to Sean. We editors don't make those decisions (well sometimes Erik might, but I don't know that for sure).

Makes sense. Thank you, I will do that right away.

I should try writing sometime, I have a few ideas that might be interesting. Only thing, if I did write I would spend more time reading over rulebooks (not like I don't) just making sure I got details and rules right instead of actually writing.

No problem. Good luck! :)

Heh. Ever the problem for writers of game material. I know I fall into that trap from time to time as well. ;)

I constantly find myself referencing the SRD or flipping through game books as I produce articles. When I started this writing thing a bit over a year ago, I thought I had a really good grasp of the rules. I'm amazed, though, at the little details in the game I keep finding as I dig around.

I've never seen guidelines for art submissions, does Paizo accept unsolicited submissions of art? What address do I send a gallery link to? Can someone point me to the hidden art submission guidelines. Please and thank you.

Sean Glenn takes care of everything art-related. You'll want to shoot him an email.

so (he says, 6 weeks later), what about the ones sent on or after Oct 21st? :)

We printed them all out and made photocopies for each of us. Then we took them home and used them as pillows in the hope of learning what the printouts said through osmosis. Then we all forgot to bring them into the office the next day. Then our SOs independently decided to throw out the printouts. Then the mole men rose up en masse and stole the three garbage trucks carrying our printouts (okay, the two garbage trucks and the one recycling truck where mine ended up).

So... long (and implausible) story short: the mole men have them and are holding them for ransom. Only if everyone purchases enough gaming products through the Paizo store can we hope to raise the money necessary to free the printouts!!!

Gamer solidarity!!!

{The preceding was completely made up. Names were changed to protect the innocent. This is only a test. Do not pass Go. Why are you still reading this?}

...

The truth is less strange and involves holidays and schedules and the needs of essentially putting out two magazines in a month. We'll probably have our submissions meeting in the coming weeks.

Hey.. this is not true.. I recycle as well, its the law.

In all seriousness, we are going to start looking at proposals again very soon. Life is starting to resemble something similar to a state the might be mistaken for normal.

Woot! I'm an over-powered feat. ^_^

I guess that means it's time to nerf Mike. anybody have ideas? :P

I've heard that if vegetarians touch meat they lose all their powers until they're the subject of an atone spell.

If that's the case, Amber, then how do male vegetarians go to the bathroom?

....oh, they probably always have a mop handy!!!!

(Sorry, Amber--I failed my Will save) Apologies in advance!

I don't think an atone is going to be enough in your case, F2K. Only a miracle can save you now.

GGG

Hey, I'm not a vegetarian....just a fanatic about handwashing!!

Contributor

I love you guys.

Don't let your boyfriend see you type that.

GGG

Oh, and I should say something about the thread topic too. "Grumble , gripe, submissions process! Humph!"

Okay, the way the joke is supposed to go is that Medesha writes back and says something about having a husband and then I get to write back and say "Well, if I were in your situation I wouldn't let him know either...."

But now I won't.

Sorry I ruined your setup, Triple G. :P

It's okay. It's okay. I'll just go and be funny over in the good Black Hole thread. ;)

Good to hear. :)

Just a quick question. Is not getting a response for queries prior to November worth me resubmitting?

Additionally, I've had a few Class Acts, Bazaar of the Bizarre's accepted, written up, sent in, etc. How long, usually, will I have to wait until a follow-up response for these?

Contributor

Class Acts and Bazaars are Mikes. I have some stuff with him that's several weeks outstanding now. Generally, Mike is good about getting back, so I'm assuming the past few weeks are an abnormal situation.

Thanks. :)

I'm actually running about three weeks behind now. So if you send me an email expect to wait for approximately three weeks before receiving a reply from me.

*sad*

Alright Mike, I've sent you an email. Any chance I can get an answer on the backdated queries? Should I just resubmit?

three weeks... youch.

::mischievously determines to add to Mike's backlog by flooding him with proposals::

Contributor

Three weeks, eh? You might actually be getting close to a query I sent recently. :D

I'm still shy a few query responses from August and Novemeber. Does Dragon operate in the same manner as Dungeon in regards to how queries are handled (ie, there is usually a typical time for turnaround with Dungeon, where-as I've had some really quick and really slow replies from Dragon).

Thanks

it seems to be about 3-4 months? different departments might get faster responses though.

August sounds like a bit too long of a backlog. I think our last aborted submissions meeting went back only as far as October. You might want to email Jason and find out what happened.

If you sent something to me in August and haven't heard back by now it never got to me. Resend it.

BOZ wrote:

That sounds about right, which is also about the time most publications allow for turnaround.

Class Acts and Bazaar of the Bizarre used to move much more quickly, but I fell behind working on the Dragon Compendium and have not caught up since. So instead of one to two days to hear back from me now you have to wait as long as a month. Ah how the mighty have fallen.

:(

Contributor

I think the first thing of mine you haven't responded to yet is from Jan 30th. So I guess you're not late yet. Good to know. ;)

Like sands in the hourglass .... these are the days of our lives ....

Any word on when the next submissions meeting might occur?

probably when the next submissions meeting is held. :D

Just one question: is it Dragon (or Dungeon) policy to send a reply to queries, even if they've been rejected?
Because I sent two queries (in one e-mail) three months ago and didn't recieve a reply, and I resent it one month later yet still have hear nothing.

Contributor

Dragon does (to the best of my knowledge) reply to everything, whether it's being green-lit or rejected.

We try to reply to every query sent to us, be it rejected or accepted. Our next approval meeting should happen soon. It got delayed by issue concerns (as usual) but we have some free time coming up and hopefully will be able to take a crack at them. Your queries, in particular, are in this batch.

Is it too late to submit a query for consideration for the coming meeting?

I submitted a few since December - is there a chance any of them made the cut - at least for consideration?

Huzzah!

just wondering if the free time was enough time to maybe unplug the black hole. ;)

Not quite yet I am afraid. We got locked into working on the anniversary issue. Now that has finally cleared we are working on the next issue. Once that is under control, we hope to have time to go through submissions again. Sorry about the delay everybody.. we will get to these soon.
