New Pathfinder Adventure Path releases!

Show your evil side by jumping into the Wrath of Thrune, the second book in the Hell's Vengeance Adventure Path release!

The knightly order known as the Glorious Reclamation continues its crusade against diabolic Cheliax, conquering the town of Kantaria, where the goddess Iomedae once ruled as a mortal. The villainous adventurers, now official agents of House Thrune, must retake the town, depriving the knights of a valuable holy site. Can the evil characters earn greater infamy and prestige by dealing the Glorious Reclamation a serious defeat in their most substantial territorial gain so far, or will the knights' rebellion continue unchecked across Cheliax?

This volume of Pathfinder Adventure Path continues the Hell's Vengeance Adventure Path and includes:

  • "Wrath of Thrune," a Pathfinder adventure for 4th-level characters, by Thurston Hillman.
  • A gazetteer of Kantaria, the first Chelish town conquered by the Glorious Reclamation and sacred site to the faith of Iomedae, by Thurston Hillman.
  • A look at the history and inner workings of Cheliax's most powerful noble family, the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune, by Linda Zayas-Palmer.
  • Devious whispers and dire threats in the Pathfinder's Journal, by Josh Vogt.
  • A bestiary of dangerous and exciting new monsters, by Thurston Hillman, Jason Keeley, and Kalervo Oikarinen.

Does this AP actually use 'infamy', in its game term context?

No. Both "infamy" and "prestige" are descriptive terms in this context, not game rules.

It's hard to go wrong when you're quoting Brick Top...

Unless you're as greedy as a pig :P

I look forward to this.

The first installment of Hell's Vengeance was a little awkward, in my opinion. From the assumption that the PCs are a bunch of apolitical street thugs (whereas they may have chosen to be a vanguard of hardcore Thrune loyalists and Asmodean fanatics), to having the AP begin unceremoniously with a tannery raid (as opposed to Way of the Wicked's prison break or Hell's Rebels public protest), and a few other issues.

But now that the PCs are in Thrune's service, have established themselves as villains, and are going on the offensive against the Glorious Reclamation's holdings, the party will most likely get a chance to truly shine as villains. I would compare it to the taking of Balentyne in Way of the Wicked.

I just hope this AP doesn't go Way of the Wicked and have a final instalment where the PCs are supposed to lose and the whole thing turns out to be Unca Wes' fireside speech on morality.

But I think we can trut Paizo for that not to be the case.

I don't get the dislike for book one, villains gotta start somewhere, and NO ONE starts on the top floor, you gotta earn that kind of respect. After all, Thrune IS the mob an upstanding organization.

Eh, it's a flavor disconnect. Nobody seems to mind the idea of doing scutwork to prove themselves, but characters basing themselves upon being prideful bastions of Thrunite Law aren't really going to be all that het up about the opening scenario as presented.

But, you're not a part of Thrune, yet, just a sycophantic wanna be.

I dunno, The Hellfire Compact has been growing on me, and I do like the beginning, and probably wouldn't change it, if only to see how the others see it. :-)

Also, our group is leaning more towards chaotic and neutral evil, rather then lawful, so that might color my perception. :-)

And now I have to think up a character for this AP based on Brick Top, seems like he'd fit right in.

I actually really like the first book (part 2 especially), but the Tannery heist is just strange.

The player's guide lists Noble in the traits, it's a little weird, even in a backwater, for a noble to be committing b&e. Even for "tax evasion" enforcement. And the build up for path made many feel like starting out with ties to Thrune or the church of Asmodeus would be good ideas, and really the ap assumes your local thugs. It's not a bad assumption, and it's something I've tried to encourage my players towards or otherwise have interest in Cimri's raid. It just doesn't vibe with what a lot of us assumed going into the path.
