shaman hexes

Rules Questions

is it possible for a shaman to take a hex from another hex list?

Sure, they can select one Witch Hex.

Witch Hex: The shaman selects any one hex normally available through the witch's hex class feature. She treats her shaman level as her witch level when determining the powers and abilities of the hex. She uses her Wisdom modifier in place of her Intelligence modifier for the hex. The shaman cannot select a major hex, a grand hex, or a witch hex that has the same name as a shaman hex.

Selecting a Witch Hex is, in fact, an option (ONCE).

If you ask this because it looks like the Shaman Hex list is a bit limited, bear in mind that the Shaman Spirits all offer access to additional, unique Hexes, so don't forget to look them up.

no i mean picking a shaman hex from a different list like say i'm a mammoth shaman but want a hex from the wind shaman or life shaman list would it be possible to get one?

Look at the Wandering Hex class feature.

Yes, it is called "Wandering Hex", it is a class feature they get at 6th level.

thank you

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish, but you might want to take a peek at the Unsworn Shaman archetype.

The Flexible Hex Feat might give you further options.

Also there is the Spirit Talker Feat. (Sadly it was changed to only work for one hour instead of 24.)

ill try and remember those for later, another question i just thought of is there any way to increase a shamans spirit level to gain early access to the spirits abilities like how sorcerers have robes of eldritch heritage

edit also how do you calculate its hp

Is...that a joke?

A Shaman's Spirit isn't a companion in a Familiar/Eidolon/Mount/etc sense, it's an abstract entity - although most Shamans DO get Familiars, which function mostly the same as Witch/Wizard Familiars, except that they gain a bit of additional power dependent on the Shaman's choice of Spirit.

The Spirit is the higher power from which Shamans gain their magic, and the Shaman's Familiar is the Spirit's liason in the mortal realm.

some of my post got cut out so it looks weird but

i thought their spirit was their familiar, and i know its half my hp but the spirit i'm looking at also is an animal companion and animal companions get actual hit die so i'm wondering if its 1/2 owner hp +((hit die+con)*level) or if its just half hp

Spirit Animal is the name given to Shaman's familiar. The Shaman's Spirit is a class feature like an Oracle's Mystery; it determines bonus spells you have access to and gives you access to hexes not available to every shaman.

Shamans do not normally get access to animal companions through their class features. The only exception I can think of is a special ability of the Mammoth Spirit which lets you turn your Spirit Animal into a megafauna for a limited time.

The only way I know to increase your spirit abilities in any way is the Amulet of Spirits, linked below - this doesn't give you early access to new abilities, exactly, but you count as two levels higher for those you already have. Also, it only applies to certain spirits (and Mysteries!).

nature gets the ability which turns it into a familiar and animal companion
