I recommended no dragon deities because there's just not a lot of support for Apsu in 2nd edition, and there was no room to do and no time to do so in order to get this out. Furthermore, there's not really a big role for Apsu at all in the adventure; it just worked out that, thematically, the content we were covering felt better to not get distracted by a big "war in heaven" type thing, and by keeping Apsu out of the scene and as an impartial observer, the focus of the situation is more on the PCs to save the day. And beyond that, non-dragon worshipers of Apsu should be very rare, and I didn't want to imply otherwise by putting that information into the very first 2nd edition player's guide... remember that we're likely getting a LOT of new eyes on the game with the new edition launch, and every thing I could do to keep the Player's Guide light and fast on its feet was a choice I had to make.
Feel free to allow worship of Apsu in your game if you're comfortable with that. We'll have more info on Apsu later on, but for the short term you'll need to make that info up yourself or adapt from 1st edition, and potentially adjust the adventures to make it more of a theme to have Apsu elements in there.

I wish there weren't spoilers for the AP in the Adventurer's Guide. I don't think they were necessary. (Talking about the 'castle' details on p. 9 under "Downtime in Breachill").
I'll have to strike some things from this Guide and personally send it to players, I think.
Love the premise overall, just makes me cringe to see it given away to players before the AP even starts.

We try to engineer the "spoilers" to be previews. In this case, broadcasting from the start that there'll be a chance for players to repair and live in a castle IS important, since it not only tells the players that there'll be some downtime and that investments in skills like Crafting will perhaps be helpful, but also because it should help build excitement for players to know that this element is coming.
Of course, feel free to adjust as you feel is best for your game, but in my experience, giving the players at least SOME exciting hints and teases is better for the game than it is worse. Knowing that there's castle building in this AP in particular is NOT a major spoiler to the plot.

This is one of the design choices I adore as a player.
I like thinking about the "big picture" and integrating it into my character design. Not just mechanically, but as I build up a personality and backstory, I try to come up with something that will be interesting to me to play, and will fit actively into the story. Knowing in broad strokes what sorts of tasks I'll be involved with is really useful.
I believe there's a difference between secrets and story details. Knowing that behind The Cult Of Obvious Red Herrings there's actually Lord YourbestfriendNPC... that's a secret, and shouldn't be in a player's guide. But knowing that an adventure calls for our party to infiltrate and take over a guild of Robin-Hood-esque thieves... that's a really useful story detail.
So thanks for the way you do things. Obviously not every DM is comfortable with this, but personally I don't want a year or two campaign where I have no idea its path or destination.

I am also unable to download this one and i have tried everything I think of including using different browsers, refreshing the page, clicking the trouble downloading link, connecting to a different internet, logging in and out, etc.
No matter what I try all that I can download is an empty ZIP file (with file size 0 bytes) on my desktop computer and a failed download on my phone.
Any ideas?

Did the same, different PCs, different browsers. Clicking in Digital Content doesn't generate a PDF to download

I recall the exact opposite type of criticism for Second Darkness, where the players start in a particular location with local ties, but move on from that location about a third of the way into the path. People who didn't know this up front, and designed characters with closer ties to the starting location were disappointed when they didn't stay.
Personally, I think the way they handle these details in the Player Guides now is pretty darned good, both from a GM and player perspective. Who wants to play an undead hunter in an AP with no undead? Or a Cultist in an AP focused on hunting down the evil cult?

English isn't my first language, but that does read strange:
Age of Ashes Player's Guide wrote:...the PCs will negotiate deadly dungeons, interact with colorful NPCs in stressful social encounters, ...Other than that: Love the "Befriend a local" Downtime activity
As mentioned, it's an unusual but valid use. I would however like to see an adventure where the PCs negotiate with a giant mimic that takes the form of a dungeon.

I successfully downloaded the Player's Guide last night, but I wonder if that is because my first attempt was after whatever problem had already been fixed. Somebody who tried earlier might have to worry not only about web browser cache, but also potentially web proxy (that they might not even have control over) in between their browser and paizo.com (which means you would have to wait for this to clear its own cache or go somewhere else to download, assuming that somewhere else didn't have the same problem).

I tried everything the other night. I clicked the "Trouble downloading this file?" button, I Refreshed Downloads, I logged out of my Paizo account and back in, I cleared my cache, I tried another browser, I restarted my computer, I uninstalled Chrome and installed it again. Kept getting the bad file.
Finally, I downloaded the Player's Guide through my husband's account on his computer and put it on a flash drive to transfer it to mine so I could read it.
Next morning, I was able to download the file on my own acccount just fine. *shrug*

This book seems helpful and organized well. I was very confused when reading it because there wasn't an introduction to what this book was used for. Why am I reading it and why do I care about what's in it? These questions are answered on the product page here, but that's an external source. While I realize that inclusion of "Player's Guide" in the title may be enough to be understood by seasoned players, maybe that's more meta knowledge that isn't understood by everyone. That information would be really great to be included in the product itself. Again, this book was an enjoyable read and seems to be helpful.
