A Pathfinder Bounty designed for 3rd-level characters.

The heads of missing villagers from a small Irriseni village have started appearing on the edge of the Hoarwood Forest. Desperately needing to access the trees to survive Irrisen’s eternal winter, the people of the village seek adventurers to find the source of the murders and excise it from their land. Exactly who or what is responsible for the grim murders remains unknown, and it’s up to the PCs to track the murders back to their source and then venture into the Hoarwood to confront the threat.

Its a Deadly adventure :) and that is a good thing

    5/5

I love the setting for this adventure. The setup is GRIM indeed!!

The NPC's are a bit odd to roleplay for me but that is ok.

I love the buildup on the trail to fighting the monster which is deadly and if the PLAYERS don't play their cards right or fight strategically they make all go down.

If they do and your playing for society remember that they dont actually die in adventure mode nor do they have to spend ACP for death in adventure mode. All bounties are adventure mode. In fact IF YOU DO TPK the party this is a great moment to teach them the different things they can do instead of just swinging a sword 3 times in a row.

I disagree with the last reviewer saying that Magic Missile (CRB) AKA Force Barrage (PC1) is the answer to higher AC. There are many other unblockable things like splash damage from bombs and other spells that will do at least 1/2 damage on a successful save.

In addition you can reduce the AC of a monster by flanking, tripping, grabbing, restraining, Frightening, attacking from being hidden, etc.

This has to do more with a lack of strategy and not understanding the game. Its not 5e and it doesn't try to be.

MAKE MORE DEADLY BOUNTIES LIKE THIS ONE!!!!

    The fun of "challenge"

    1/5

This is one of my biggest problems with this game system. DMing 101, you wanna raise the "challenge", increase the health, NOT the AC. Shouldn't come down to several magic missiles to defeat one creature.

I hate to be a kill joy, but I've got to point out that the Winter Forest Map is likely one of the hardest physical flip mats to find in the wild at the moment. I went to the tenth page of Google, and couldn't find a single physical copy to be had.

Thank goodness the Paizo community outreach on Reddit indicated that it would be added to the "Classics" line-up in early 2023, along with the "Noble Estate" which is available at triple the cover price on Amazon the last I checked.

I just find it frustrating, because every Winter Scenario utilizes this map so there are now four Organized Play scenarios that use this one map.

The Starfinder "Ice World" map could be used as a substitute, though it may take some tinkering.

Look, I don't want to be "that guy" again, but we really need better proofreading for those things. There is no such thing as 'Bluff' in Pathfinder 2e. C'mon, this is not a first 2e product you release, yet those errors are ever present.

If you want new people to use those small quests, you need to be more clear, as they will easily get confused.

Preparing to run this at GenCon. I'm trying to figure out the BBEG tactics. The first full paragraph on page 7 tries to describe them, but there is missing text.

I believe there is missing text here::

What does he use? What does he follow up with? What is the trap he springs?
