A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 3rd- through 6th-level characters.

Heed the call for heroes!

After assisting the people of Port Valen and protecting the town from rampaging trolls, the Society earned the approval of the settlement's leaders to establish a new Pathfinder lodge in the former feasting hall of the legendary warrior Sveinn Blood-Eagle. After enduring several months of dangerous ocean voyages to supply the new lodge and assist the town, venture-captains Bjersig Torrsen and Calisro Bennary requested permission for the Society to connect their new lodge in Port Valen to the Maze of the Open Road. By using the mystical extraplanar hedge maze, the venture-captains hope to strengthen the Society's presence in Arcadia. Rather than establish such a connection on their own, the venture-captains consulted Port Valen's leaders to determine the most responsible means of opening the portal. Their careful research brought them to a fey guardian in the Forest of Trials. The guardian readily agreed to the Society's proposal, on one condition. To keep the portal opened, the Society must regularly send heroes to perform heroic deeds in and around the Forest of Trials!

In this repeatable scenario, the PCs visit Port Valen and perform a series of deeds to earn the approval of the forest guardian. The scenario includes variable elements to ensure continued enjoyment for those who wish to play or run the adventure multiple times.

    I don't like your story...

    1/5

If you play this, you'll figure it out

Fun if not a little bit mechanical

    4/5

A good scenario that combines many different scenes and elements in a way that doesn't always mesh well. Somewhat to be expected for a repeatable but I would still recommend.

One of the combats left us particularly bloodied but also had an interesting enemy and allowed us to make good use of the map.

    nothing to be excited about

    2/5

I ran this scenario once and it left me unimpressed.
There is no story line, it is not a scenario built around an intriguing story and some interesting characters, it feels like a string of random skills checks and combat encounters. The setting is a poor pretext for holding all this together. Change the setting to any other you want and it will still work like a charm.
Probably to be expected from a repeatable. But not exciting.

Truly Repeatable with Great Advice for the GM

    5/5

This repeatable has a great degree of variety and I anticipate running it many times.

I truly appreciated the prompts for the GM regarding how to choose tasks, which are grounded in NPC motivation and designed to maximize player enjoyment. Still provided a challenge, too.

Didn't run short for us (almost 4 full hours at high tier / 29 ChP).

    Definitely on the short side

    4/5

Apparently this is a sequel to 2-04 and takes place in the same region. While flavorful, it's quite short unfortunately.
We were finished in roughly 2.5hrs, with no rushing at all.

The scenario itself is a good mix of skill checks and combat, with a few RP opportunities as well. The skills seem to favor intelligent types, but our strong and silent types had a few chances to shine as well.

Overall, it's a nice little repeatable and I'm sure it will take its place next to Lions for those who favor quick runs.

Absolutely giddy to see that scenario get a follow-up, and to finally get eyes on the Forest of Trials! I don’t play Society, but I’m grabbing this day one.

Do we know Wasko’s work from anywhere else?

He's written several scenarios for us, including 1-06 Lost on the Spirit Road and 2-20 Breaking the Storm: Bastion in Embers.

This sounds like a cool concept for a Repeatable, and every 3-6 repeatable sounds great. And even more so when from the author of 2-20 - looking forward to this one :)

Pounced on this once midnight hit, and I'm not disappointed; this seems like an absolute blast to play and run, and the repeatable elements are great. I'm /very/ keen on seeing where some of these story seeds go, and hope we can see more of this cast in the future; Imara is my fav.

Call me a Vǫlva (witch) and toss me to the mysterious music eminating from the forest. I'll be there with bells on.

    I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's almost kind of my entire character concept fitted for a scenario.

I played it with my Fey Ancestry [Ulfen] Human Rune Witch, and I finally emulated the kind of calculated behaviour her father achieved in 1e (my Oracle of Whimsy). It took only 6 levels to achieve Maximal Mischief.

The Lantern King Grandda would be proud.

    FYI for all GM's.

On chronicles sheet diplomat's badge has a higher price than its usual 125 gp.

Late to the thread, so happy belated B-day to Keftiu. I am closer to 100 than I am to your age so you shouldn't need to worry about being taken away just yet. I will be running this mod in a con in a couple of months so I thought I would check out the comments. Take care and roll well my friends.
