W00T! I've been waiting for this to pop up - pre-ordered! And then poverty for a while, though it's a good deal for so many maps. Hopefully the maps will stand up for individual use as well as with the Emerald Spire book itself.
Once again I really wish I'd been back playing tabletop games in time to learn of the Kickstarter... but I hadn't discovered either Pathfinder or Kickstarter by that point.
What are the dimensions of the flipmats? Just curious how large the actual dungeon levels are in terms of total feet/squares, and not sure if there is a "standard" size for Paizo flipmats.
The standard size for Pathfinder Flip-Mats is 24 by 30 inches.
Oooooh ... I think I want these. (And the superdungeon HC module too of course). :)
I just want to be clear here... at 24x30 we're talking about each level of dungeon being no more than 120ft x 150ft. Or do these mats only cover a portion of each level? This is kind of a big chunk of change and there's a value-difference between "all the maps you need" and "highlighted ares of the dungeon".

I like this idea a lot, as it reminds me of the old boxed sets with huge map posters.
One of the things I like about megadungeons is the mapping and exploration aspect for PCs. Are the maps arranged in such a way that it's easy to the part of the dungeon the PCs are exploring without having to reveal the whole thing?
I just wish there wasn’t a limitation put on the dungeon levels to ‘fit on a flip mat’. I know it’s been discussed the expenses are more than you would like to create nice vinyl rolled maps, but what about something similar to the D&D tile sets? You could put out a set for one or two floors (depending on the size of the floor), but you wouldn’t need to limit a floor on a predetermined sized mat.
Something to think about at least (if you haven’t already).

super stoked about this one I love maps and dungeon crawls and dungeon crawl map expecially ones I don't have to draw.
it would be cool to have two flip mats the work side by side too. maybe another special project. like the kick starter for rise of the Runelords the movie. Are just had another great idea you guys should make a movie for at least write one and have someone else make it.

Unlike books, maps attract tax. Please look at getting a Paizo.com distribution network for Europe to be able to reduce costs in shipment?

Paizo has distributors in Europe, I think in UK it's Esdevium. You should be able to buy Paizo stuff through all major online gaming stores and perhaps also some brick and mortar ones. Also, amazon.co.uk and BookDepository (which is UK based) both carry Paizo products.
I think this one is a paizo.com exclusive, so online is likely to be the only option in this, specific case.
Paizo have been loathe to "outsource" their web store in the way you're suggesting, Deevor. As i understand it there were some serious issues back in the dragon/dungeon days with that kind of system and they got pretty badly burnt. Granted that was a while ago and the company is in a different place - maybe their position has shifted from "never again" to "maybe one day".

This is a Paizo exclusive, so I'm not expecting it to be available through the other channels, otherwise I'd be straight to BookDepository, though that's just my personal preference. But the channels you provided are indeed available to obtain most of the normal products.

Thanks for the tip. It might be helpful to put it in the product description, but I suppose that could be painful if an item's status ever changed.

That doesn't seem particularly out of line for 16 .pdf flip-maps, considering most of the .pdf flip-maps are $10 each.

Technically it is 16 pdf maps that represent the 16 levels as found on the 8 printed sheets. ;-)

I was initially reluctant to pick the PDF version of these maps up since they're priced significantly higher than the module itself (which includes the map images) but I figured I'd bite the bullet. After extracting them and uploading them to Roll20, I have to say the multipack PDF is easily worth the money. The maps look absolutely gorgeous in full resolution!
Can't wait to let my players experience the TPK module! :D
2.) How do other GMs deal with the "fog of war"? (I was thinking of maybe black construction paper covering undiscovered rooms)A block of post-it notes will work pretty good and allow you to reveal and then put back on as they players go.
What's worked really well for us - if you want a simplistic solution - is two sheets of paper, technically the 'x' and the 'y' axis, slid back and forth as needed. Its not perfect but its very easy, very quick and gets the job done.
I too would be interested to know if the maps reveal the locations of secret doors and whatnot.

How do flip-mats usually deal with things like secret doors/hallways/rooms?
I mean, I figure the normal flip-mats can probably get away with it by not having them at all, since they're often things like outdoors wilderness type things.
But dungeons have quite a bit of features that are initially hidden from the players. How do these flip-mats deal with them? Is it the same strategy? Do we have a 16 level superdungeon without hidden rooms?
This isn't exactly the same issue as fog of war, because with that, you're just hiding areas the players haven't been to at all. But what if you want to hide a "S" marker on a segment of wall that the players have seen. Do you just put a post-it note in that single square of wall? And isn't that a dead giveaway?
The flip-mats are identical to the maps laid out in the Emerald Spire PDF/hardcover (which in turn are similar to the maps you'll find in adventure paths) except they don't have the "GM markers" on them - ie no room annotations, S for secret doors, outlines for traps and so on.
You'll probably want to use Post-its or sheets of paper to hide areas they haven't explored yet since it's otherwise hard "not" to metagame at least a little, but it's not an insurmountable task.
If you're thinking about the PDF version, the maps are the same maps that you can find on the first page of each dungeon level description in Emerald Spire (though again without GM markers), but at significantly higher resolution and image quality.
Have any of you who have bought the pdf version tried to print them out yourselves? How is the quality? I tried to print my scans from the superdungeon book (for personal use), but even with photoshop skills, the results were lackluster. I might as well draw on an empty map folio myself.
My local shop cannot order the pysical copy for me, and I think the shipping+taxes for the item would be too much for me (estimated 125USD).

I am leaning on buying the flipmat from this site, but the whole group will chip in this time. I wonder if this item has to be taxed in Norway or not. An addtional 20 usd is not a lot.
