PST = Pacific Standard Time
Which is like just after 9pm Sunday right now PST. Which makes it -8 hours GMT

Thank god I don't have to use my brain to calculate when the PDF will be up, I got you people to help me.....and the Internet. The timezone calculator is nice ;-)

You just bet so used to your glasses, sometimes it is hard to remember you're even wearing them... That's the line I'm sticking with anyway.

The converse of that is when you forget to put your glasses on, then have a horrible few moments wondering why everything is blurry before you remember them.

I hear that! :D

This is why it pays to read the posts before posting. I almost freaked out when I saw "unavailable"! There is no way that Paizo sold all available copies between Saturday and Sunday!
I feel better now although I will keep checking the website from work all day. No whippersnappers are going to keep me form my bonus bestiary!

Then, of course, the facepalm hits your glasses, knocking them to the floor so that a lens cracks.

I have very strong lens :-) they've knocked across the room before without a scratch.

Its cool to see Alip, Annis Hag and Dragonne in this book since they wont be in the Beastiary....
But also a bit dissapointing that they arent going to be in the Bestiary.
Will definitly be ordering tonight once its available.
(Now to go off topic kinda)
Its also very reasuring to read your posts. My LGS clearanced the 3.5 material immediatly upon 4th edition release. They dont carry any 3rd edition books from any company and refuse to carry Pathfinder. its been labeled a waste to order stuff "no one will buy other than crazy Jay and his players". The store owner or the guy in charge of ordering the stuff thinks its silly that anyone would want to play 3rd edition now that 4th is here.
They wont even order it upon my request. Im labeled the crazy guy who still plays 3rd edition and am laughed at when I say I will play Pathfinder when its released. I get that amused "are you serious?" look when I mention Pathfinder. And according to them no one else but me asks or requests it ever.
And with book stores only carrying 4th edition I start to wonder if theres any Pathfinder love outside the people on the Paizo boards.

Well "Crazy Jay," here in Utah we do things differently. The LGS here is carrying both 4E and Paizo stuff, as is Barnes and Noble. The FLGS that we used to have had planned on going exclusively Pathfinder, until some problems with some of the partners caused it to have to shut down. There is no love for 4E in southern Utah.

seekerofshadowlight |

well I don't have a LGS's I do have a books a million somewhat close. They used to only have 3 shlves of 3.5 stuff. since 4e came out they have 1/2 a shelf of 4e stuff and the rest is other games like shadowrun, gurps and WoD. however they have started getting pathfinder stuff in, a small amount but it is selling unlike I have been told the 4e stuff which is the same stuff they had from day one. I thought they had been selling 4e well as they used to have near 100 phb's however I was told it was in the back and they where trying to see if someone else could take it.

One of the runners of Gen X here is very excited about Pathfinder - even has a "D21" sign up to get people to ask about it.

Someway it is the same reaction i often get when i say i am playing D&D, whatever the edition.
Nowadays, many youngsters seem to think it is cool to spit on old D&D and mock D&D players, as if they were cavemen."D&D. So easy a caveman could play".
Well, we'll see if they are still playing their ubercool game in 30 years...

Your store owner sounds like a person who doesn't like to make money, which makes me sad.
There is all kinds of Pathfinder love outside the boards. Field reports have the Bonus Bestiary running out at record speeds, and buzz on the game in general is phenomenal.
I'm not sure what you're referring to insofar as book stores are concerned. Borders is going out of business and barely ordering anything from anyone, but B&N stocks the Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting and assorted Pathfinder Chronicles products like Classic Monsters Revisited and Gods & Magic. They are going in heavy on the RPG itself and I suspect it will be available in a wider number of B&N stores as well.
Meanwhile, places like Ingram and Baker & Taylor, who service independent bookstores, have placed substantial orders. So I am not at all worried about the game's success in bookstores.
I suppose I could shorten that sentence as follows: I am not at all worried about the game's success.
Game Store owners who choose not to stock Pathfinder are very likely leaving money on the table and encouraging a sizable cohort of their customer base to shop elsewhere.

When I visited my LGS (for the first time in 6 months or so) recently, I noticed that there was an offer for any three 4e books for £50. I don't know if that's good value or any indication of anything, but the owner told me at Gencon UK last year that he'd be pushing Pathfinder once this Summer rolls along.

![]() |

Sadly my LGS (would say friendly if it was, and the owner is my roommate!) did not participate in Free RPG Day. I have tried numerous times to get him to order Paizo products, and spread word about it but he refuses to do so despite me running two Pathfinder games (Legacy of Fire and Rise of the Runelords) at his shop. He believes 3.5 to be dead and WotC can do no wrong with 4e. Despite him not having sold a 4e book in over 4 months. It makes me sad that people have asked me to use Paizo or Amazon to get Pathfinder products for them because he wont be bothered with it.

And yet Borders is actually healthier than it was a while ago (they renegotiated their loan at a lower interest rate, which was a blessing). They are going out of the CD and DVD business to some extent -- the model for payment is obviously less agreeable to them than the book trade version -- but my local Borders is actually restocking, say, Dark Heresy stuff (and has the newest DH releases, I believe). However, I'm not sure if they're going to survive, at least not without shutting a lot of stores.
Regarding Barnes and Noble, I've seen a Campaign Guide at least in just about every B&N I've looked in.

Ask him if he thought is was silly too, to still drink regular Coke when New Coke became available.

I bloody love Pathfinder so much so that I am selling all my 3rd and 3.5 material to a local gaming store bit by bit.Or giving some of it away as I expect to be moving soon aswell. For those of us fans in the UK the best place I have found for pathfinder is the Orcsnest shop in London fantastic online and quick delivery too.

Check it out.

Jason, show this post to the store owner - perhaps the publishers words can make him rethink his stance...

The 2 bookstores near me are Borders (which has nothing Pathfinder) and Barnes & Noble which does carry the campaign settign only (I guess they just like hardcovers).
So yeah there is at least the campaign setting..but those 2 copies of the setting have been gathering dust since they came out so that was another reason I was concerned.
Glad to see I just live in a crappy area to be a Pathfinder fan and its not nationwide. :)

(I guess they just like hardcovers).
There is more truth to this than you might think. More importantly, big box bookstores shelve almost everything "spine out" (as opposed to "front-facing or full-facing"), which means that tiny books with no spines (like our Pathfinder Companions and Modules, and even arguably like the Chronicles and Adventure Path volumes) tend to get lost in the shelf. Consequently, they don't order heavily on these types of products.
This is probably the main reason why Wizards of the Coast shifted to an almost entirely hardcover-based production schedule about mid-way through 3rd edition.

Does it mean we can say that Paizo has no spine ? :D

That is indeed an interesting fact.
