Let's say first Monday in May.

For this scenario, it might be interesting if you have some idea what your character did during the whole Scoured Stars fiasco and rescue mission.

Are you a raw recruit drawn by the Starfinder's resurgence after the rescue?

Are you a slightly older recruit who signed on when the Society would hire any warm body to fill the ranks after most of the Agents were trapped in the Scoured Stars. And did you participate in the rescue or were you assigned elsewhere?

Are you a veteran Starfinder? Were you trapped, rescued, or assigned elsewhere?

How does that inform your view of the rescuees and Starfinder upper ranks?

And I've changed my mind. Let's play this at 3rd level.

And it could have been worse, Azil. Failing two of the team checks to cross to the tunnel on the moon's surface would have left the team fatigued. Anyone who failed the swim would have become exhausted.

Yeah. When I played, my soldier failed the swim check and was utter trash afterwards only good for a damage sponge. Still had a good time.

You're sitting at level 8, but in the story arc, the scenario level range dips down to 3-6 for a couple adventures. Instead of me trying to scale them up, someone suggested running a second party that got tagged with he name protegees through those scenarios. Survivor's Salvation relates some of the fallout from theScoured Stars rescue mission and makes a nice intro for them.

Let's start the protoge's at level 2 for Survivor's. We can advance to 4, then 6 for the two story arc scenarios.

If I remember we were going to roll with the protégées plan. If we jump into Survivor's Salvation, that will give me a little time to double check chronology for the other scenarios.

Description
This ensemble includes a wet suit, fins for your feet, a transparent mask, a snorkel, and an integrated tank of compressed air. As long as you are not encumbered, while wearing scuba gear, you can move at your full land speed through water and similar fluids with a successful Athletics check to swim. In addition, the air tank allows you to breathe for up to 1 hour while submerged. Scuba gear does not provide any other environmental protections. It takes 4 rounds to don or remove scuba gear. You can’t wear scuba gear while wearing any type of armor.

Description
Although this scuba gear offers little protection against attacks, it does provide 24 hours of breathable air; this capacity must be used in 1-hour increments but can be recharged in the same way as armor environmental protections. In addition, while wearing scuba gear, you gain a swim speed of 20 feet, and you don’t need to attempt Fortitude checks to avoid being sickened due to being in deep water (underwater at depths between 100 and 999 feet). You can’t wear scuba gear while also wearing armor.
Unlike armor, scuba gear isn’t designed for the rigors of combat. Whenever you take damage while wearing scuba gear, you must succeed at a Reflex saving throw (DC equal to the damage dealt) or else the scuba gear’s oxygen system suffers catastrophic failure, gaining the broken condition and losing all ability to provide breathable air in 1d6 minutes unless repaired. If you fail this saving throw while the scuba gear already has the broken condition, it loses its ability to provide breathable air in 1d6 rounds unless repaired.

I was flashing back to The First Mandate social scene. It was a similar setup and rules. I might be misremembering, but I remember the PCs could try to influence the NPCs multiple times.

I've got an envoy who would also eat this up. He seems to often end up on missions with little diplomatic engagement.

I totally sympathize on the fighter-skill issue. At least they're not DnD 3E fighters with only 2 skill points to spend in a highly splintered skill space.

Also, in case it read wrong, I was not complaining about character selection with the 'up our game' comment. I was just observing that we've got 4 rounds left to score four successes on each of these NPCs, and not much of a head start when I wrote the post. QImok's and Momo's successes helped a bunch. I think we now need 12 successes over the four rounds.

Scorecard:
WHO - Successes - Skills
Camily - 2 - daredevil flying, Computers, Physical Science, aliens/planets, terraforming
Kenaxa - 1 - physical stuff? (sense motive informaiton coming)
Tioran - 0 - elven culture and history (sense motive might be good idea)
Vekkhad - 1 - Profession or culture

Ears is solid on computers, engineering and sciences. Weak profession.

Weapon Special Property and Critical Hit DCs
Source Starfinder Core Rulebook pg. 181
Some weapons that explode or cause critical hit effects (see page 182) allow the target to attempt a saving throw. The DC of such a saving throw is typically equal to 10 + half the weapon’s item level + one of your ability modifiers. Unless stated otherwise, the ability modifier corresponds to the ability score you’d normally use to make an attack with that weapon (Dexterity for a ranged weapon, and Strength for a melee or thrown weapon). Any penalty you would normally take to your weapon attack roll also applies to this DC, including penalties from the weapon’s range increment.

Plasma Blast: You condense your body’s qi into a beam of superheated plasma, allowing you to make a special ranged unarmed strike that targets KAC, requires one hand, is not archaic, has a range increment of 30 feet, deals lethal electricity and fire damage, and has the stunned critical hit effect. For the duration of this ability, you gain a special version of the Weapon Specialization feat that adds 1-1/2 times your level to the damage of this unarmed strike (rather than adding your level).

You drop everything you are holding, you can’t take actions, and you are flat-footed.

Weapon Special Property and Critical Hit DCs states "Some weapons ... allow ... a saving throw. " After an hour of searching and reading and pondering and changing my mind, nothing in the plasma blast text, nor stunned entries, makes me think a save is allowed.

Kind of sucks for me because that was Flag's next big trick. It just won't have the same effect when he trots it out next round.

After this is over remind me to tell you about my side of the fight.

I knew a guy who removed his distributor wires for the same reason. And another who had rigged a valve on his gas line. His truck would run for only a minute or two unless you stepped on a button hidden under the floor mat.

Awesome! No audience parade at our show. The Shalin Liu isn't really built for it. Although I love the hall and acoustics are great. That is indeed a large window backing the stage. The cove is lovely when the drapes are open.

BG_ that's going to keep Zephyr in the blast radius and subject to 25 damage. Please make a DC 20 Ref save for half. Your current post will stand, but you'll need to gain at least another 10' of altitude to fire on Flags without him having cover from the platform.

Cellion, both those are things I'm likely to forget from time to time. Please keep me honest if you think I did.

Locket smashes the head of the lead jinsul, arcs the orb around to catch the one trying to slide by on his left, then slings the orb into that one again as it reaches out for Faelyn. Both collapse at his feet.

Zephyr punches a laser beam into Flag's thorax. Its screeches click up a notch. His second beam clips the edge of the platform instead the jinsul leader.

Faelyn finds his intended victim dead at his feet. Instead he taunts and attacks the one behind Locket.

Harlan alters reality for the last jinsul engaged in melee and the one by the spire.

The door to Harlan's right slides open and two more jinsul appear.
