Reign Of Winter Slides

Last entry from the old game

Smarting after taking some wounds the small creature takes to the air with a derogatory hiss and flies off dodging through the snow laden boughs of trees and away into the snowy landscape. A small high pitched voice is carried on the wind as it moves, "Until we meet a..g..a..i..n......" You strain your eyes as you try to follow it's path into the ever darkening forest, as the afternoon fades into twilight and soon the blackness of night will envelope the heroes of Heldren.

Creature withdraws....

HI,

Got into a bit of a pickle with sessions #11 and #12 for event #445990.

It looked like it didn't take the first time I added the session (#11) so I reentered the stuff and got event #12. So I tried to delete session #11 and ended up creating a ghost session with no GM or date for the event.

On another note, my character 704, which was creted at PaizoConUk as part of the Starfinder Special that was run there, was always supposed to be First Seeker(Jadnura) guild, as opposed to the Fisrt Mandate, which I gave as I thought it was the place holder for First Seeker (J). If you are tidying up my mess, can you also make that character have all reported games as First Seeker J, I've corrected where I was GM.

Many Thanks Paul (aka Deevor)

I'm not sure if I've made the changes correctly on the order to use the new details, so please can you check it uses the details for the account ending XXXX. The new details should be used for all future payments, until further notice.

Thanks

Other than the spell Detect Afflictions there seems no other way to identify a disease or poison?

Is this correct?

Hi,

Just wondered if there was any reason why this order does not include Starfinder Adventure Path: Temple of the Twelve (Dead Suns 2 of 6), which is in my sidecart?

Many Thanks

A couple of things, I put in for a Starfinder Adventure Path Subscription, hoping to start with book 2 in the Dead Suns AP, but it doesn't look like that's what's happened. I can see book 3, but not book 2 which I thought I was going to get with the subscription.

I also get the Pathfinder APs on subscription, and was wondering is there a way to get both the Starfinder AP and Pathfinder AP shipped together. I'm in the UK it will cut down a lot of postage?

Many Thanks

Normal 20pt buy with normal wealth for 2nd level.
Only Paizo Pathfinder publication, only common races.

Please follow rules for character creation from the original recruitment thread, in the Giantslayer Campaign

Hope to close recruitment Saturday 14th Jan midnight Pacific Time.

Sovereign Court

Unfortunately the Skald Ulfen character in our Giantslayer AP game has had to retire due to changes in RL.

I would like to find a replacement in the next few days. The players are all liking the RP, so that is an important aspect, if you like that then hopefully you'd fit right in. I'm hoping to having posting once a day minimum, but let the game know if you have an extended break. We have just finished the investigation/exploration section of the first book, and have just had a funeral, if you've been in this AP before.

Player's Guide found here

Need a 2nd level character, use 1000gp wealth.

Original Character Creation:

Any Paizo Material* **
15 Point Buy
HP Max at 1st half hit die +1 after, and for all Animal Companion and Eidolons hit die.
*Summoners must use the Unchained Summoner Spell list, and the Pounce evolution becomes a 2 point evolution that requires the Summoner to be 5th level to select; Or you may play an Unchained Summoner as written.
I believe the Summoner needed a power down, but dislike the limitation on freedom of choice with the eidolon, which is my favourite thing about the class.
**The Synthecist Summoner archetype is not allowed.
Races Core Only, Half Orcs should note that they can expect to be treated with prejudice - Trunau is specifically listed as being racially intolerant towards half orcs, although there are a number of quite prominent half orcs in town. Not to discourage half orcs, just to warn what they can expect. If you choose to be from Trunau the town's racial break down is 620 humans, 50 halflings, 40 half orcs, 20 dwarves, 15 half elves, 10 gnomes, and 25 other.
2 traits, one of which must be a Campaign Trait from the Giantslayer Player's Guide, and you may take a 3rd if you select a drawback - expect the GM to ensure your drawback will not be constantly sidestepped though.
Starting Gold take best of Class Average or 150gp.
Background Skills are in use, please ensure you are using them for flavour purposes rather than to make your character stronger.
You may craft up to 3 items, prior to the game staring, to do so you must be trained in the craft skill, or have the Scribe Scroll feat.
If I have forgotten to include anything, please let me know and I will rectify accordingly, please put questions in OOC format :)

Current game

Please include anything that will help introduce you into the game quickly, or pm me so we can discuss how you can be integrated.

Hi I received the order today and thanks to the postal service the package has not arrived in pristine condition for my collection.

The Kintargo Contract AP 101 has a damaged spine, which I'm a bit unhappy about. Is there anything you can do, like replace the AP. Any help you can give me, would be very gratefully received, especially as I have managed to create a complete collection of APs.

Many Thanks,

Hi,

I am pretty sure that I was a Campaign Subscriber when Distant Worlds was published, as I have a print copy in storage. I say this because I wouldn't have bought a copy outside a subscription as it doesn't interest me that much. But I was about to use it to read up about a game I'm about to play in (maybe, on the boards), an to my surprise its not in my downloads, which I think it should be.

I'm willing to be wrong, if I hadn't started my subscription then, in which case I apologise in advance, it just seems strange to me.

Many Thanks,
Paul

You have changed your custom declaration from Books to Merchandise.
I am now having to pay import duties of over £10 (£8.00 is charged by the postal service to collect the taxes) on the books and things being imported. This makes the items far too expensive to buy.

Please can you change the labelling back to Books, as I will be unable to continue to order the subscription items from you into the UK. I really do not want to do this as I will basically stop buying Paizo Pathfinder products altogether if that happens. I'm not organised enough to do it when this come out.

I must say that I am very disappointed with the new factions and for the characters I have, with the exception of my Osirian and Sczarni faction members, I don't see them making the 'natural' transition. The new factions just do not meet with the way each of the characters view the world.

So my witch, whose history is bound up with Cheliax and fighting demons, just doesn't have anything in common with Dark Archives and her motivation for joining the society even seems to have been taken away too. If anything she will probably end up as Grand Lodge by default, because nothing really fits with her story of being rescued by Chelaxian fighters.

Both my Andoran faction characters had much more reason for liking freedom and saving people from slavery, but very much the opposite of the first sentence of Liberty's Edge. In fact would probably fight against such notions, as they are not revolutionaries or wanting to push their views on other peoples.

Quote:

Liberty’s Edge faction members seek to spark revolution

in decadent old empires and to civilize and educate the
ignorant peoples of lost and unknown lands.

Both the characters will probably end up in the Silver Crusade which is probably closer to their viewpoints, though I can't say I'm happy about that.

So my Sczarni character fits right into The Exchange, because what criminal organisation doesn't have a lawful front. Not so sure about my upstanding and lawful Quadiran joining an organisation with such a large criminal section. I kind of read the faction as being incorporated into the Sczarni, rather than the other way round. I don't see legitimate trading organisations taking in a large criminal element and expecting things to turn out right, without loosing many of their trading partners.

My Osirian characters have no qualms about moving into the Scarab Sages faction, seems a close match to the Osirian faction.

OK, so I haven't been through the transition scenario, but I doubt that really allays my misgivings. So all in all, I can't say I'm particularly impressed with the new factions.

We are a group of 4 players, who's GM has lost the desire to continue, but we the players are really keen to continue. We have been playing at a steady pace, but not fast and would like another GM to take us through.

We are:
A Wizard, a Bard/Sorcerer, a Cleric, a Paladin

We have just been up the clock tower, which started:

Quote:

You make your way through the decrepit streets of Underbridge until you reach the clock tower.

Hidden beneath the grimy, blackened goliath that is the Irespan, leans a decrepit and sagging clock tower, a dying structure of weathered stone, wood, and rusted metal supports that teeters to an unlikely height of over 180 feet. High above, near the tower's roof and barely 5 feet from the Irespan's stony belly, a tangle of scaffolding sits near a section of the structure that has fallen away. The tower's clock face is frozen in time, defiantly proclaiming it to be 3 o'clock, while above, a stone statue of an angel, her wings crumbling, leans precariously, almost as if she were preparing a final leap from her decaying perch.

and we just defeated a snake woman ....

If you would be interest in being our GM, then you would be most welcome.

The Game

Anyone who would like to join the game as a player can apply here too, but acceptance will depend upon the GM and other players.

Reign Of Winter Slides

It's been quiet around the Pathfinder Lodge in Absalom for a couple of days, Pathfinders are getting restless, thank the heavens and Gozreh that the sun has been warming the city perched up on high in the bluest of blue skies. It is about lunchtime when a note is passed placed on your dormitory beds.

Please come to my instruction room at 5 bells tonight, I have a mission of some import. Take the time this day to ready yourselves and buy all the equipment you will need to complete this society task. You have most of the day to achieve that. I will fill you in on the details of your simple task when you arrive.

Yours faithfully, Venture-Captain Adril Hestram.

Please make sure your character sheets contain all the equipment you own, before the meeting with Venture-Captain Adril Hestram.

Gulls call to one another and glide through the rigging of your ship as you make port in Magnimar, jewel of western Varisia. To the left, the massive Irespan, the "Giant's Bridge" stretches out over the ocean before ending abruptly. In the distance to the right lie the dark Mushfens. In the early afternoon sun, they look innocent enough, but you might recall that they are too dangerous to bear regular traffic.

With your bags and equipment in stow, you don't look much different from the average visitor to the City of Monuments, but as soon as you step off the deck, you are greeted by a footman. "Arriving as a guest of the Heidmarchs, I presume?" He offers you the opportunity to put your bags in the back of the coach, and holds the door for you as you get in. Within moments, your heading to the upper city, the noble and monied sections of the city.

Looking out the window, you can see how Magnimar got its name -- modern statuary compete with ancient Thassilonian obelisks for your eye. Within a span of twenty minutes, your coach passes through iron gates into an estate. Another man, well into his middle years, impeccably dressed in a formal fashion, greets you as you step out into the open air. "Good afternoon, and welcome to Heidmarch Manor. I imagine you'll want to freshen up and straighten your gear before meeting with the Captains. We have you staying in Eurythnia house, the two-story brick building to your right. Please settle in, and please, do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions."

The order you post is the order you arrive. Eurythnia house has three large common rooms on the second floor, and social and dining areas on the first floor.

Pathfinder Lugizar Trantos recently returned from the Mwangi Expanse with haunted eyes and a pack full of strange idols. Absalom's famed Blakros Museum purchased his pieces and Lugizar vanished. The strange monkey idols he pulled from the misty jungles of Mwangi carry with them a fell curse, and now their power has laid claim to the museum. Can the Pathfinder Society uncover the source of the curse in time, or will the Blackros Museum be forever lost to the mists of Mwangi?

A group of Pathfinders is gathering and are awaiting a few recruits to join them. Playing Tier 1-2

The following Pathfinders are waiting to be joined by 2 more before they embark upon the quest in front of them. They expect to be getting underway Tuesday 21st May, with or without additional pathfinders.

They are;
Era Scarecrow - Sorcerer 1
Rom the Unchained - Barbarian 1
Bloody Blind Pete - Oracle 1
Grimage - Bard 1

If you want to join them, please apply here.

The Nevis Lodge has openings for several members of the Pathfinder Society, to join a couple of Society members as they start on a new assignment. Crar, the half-elf druid (2nd level) and Bedmyr Thunderbeard, the dwarven gunslinger (2nd level), are awaiting companions to join them in their adventures.

Severing Ties: Season 4-07
The Pathfinder Society has discovered a new Aspis Consortium base in the pirate city of Riddleport and sends a small team of agents to infiltrate the rival cell disguised as newly hired mercenaries from Magnimar. After proving their value to the Aspis Consortium by carrying out a number of tasks throughout the City of Cyphers, the Pathfinders can learn the location of one of the consortium's local allies and ensure that the support the Aspis Consortium is counting on from their friends won't come.

To apply you will need a PFS legal character, preferably 2nd level. The Nevis Lodge was set up to house a bunch of players residing around the British Isles, so any locals would be especially welcome as we have met up once or twice at PaizoConUK before now. However don't be afraid to enter the Lodge and apply if you aren't in the UK.

We plan to start in the next couple of weeks.

Hi,

Just wondered if you could find out where this order has got to.
It's a big order and contains the special anniversary edition of RotRL,
so I'm really interested in knowing where it is. I do understand that it
may very well be held up a bit in the Xmas postal chaos.

It looks like it got shipped 12 Dec.

Cheers,

What is the PFS position on the Surge ability of the Oceans Domain with regard to the range of the ability. The description in the APG isn't very clear, but from rules questions forums it seems most GMs are allowing a range of 30ft. Certainly this seems much more sensible than making it a melee range ability. So is there any guidance for this when played in PFS games?

Questioned elsewhere making it ranged 30ft.

Another question again consensus is 30ft range.

Hi,

Thank you very much for this order, I received on the 5th Feb.
It contained the Holiday Card with an offer which expired before the order arrived. Any chance I can get the discount in February. I know the orders went out late and being a subscriber in the UK, it took some time to arrive. I'm thinking maybe the Campaign Guide Dragon Empires..hmm!

Many Thanks for your consideration.

This campaign is using the Pre-Gen characters from the Legendary Games publication, Pre-Gen Gothic Characters (PFRPG), see the games campaign thread.

One of the players decided not to start, so we are looking for a replacement. The character is for Ereviss Cierdel, CG male elf bard (detective). I will send details of the character to any who are interested in joining the game. The story has only just started, so you will be able to introduce the character into the game without missing anything substantial. I'm looking for someone who can post in the game thread daily and will take the pre-gen and add more depth to the character through writing. The party will consist of all 8 pre-gen characters, once Ereviss arrives.

As its a pre-gen character, if you think it'll be fun and you're committed to play through this AP, then you will be able to start pretty much immediately.

Reign Of Winter Slides

It was another gray day, a chill bite in the air, as you pull your clothes tighter. Another day closer to say your parting farewells to Professor Lorrimor, a few more hours and you will be there, The Restlands, north of Ravengo to bury your friend. The invitation, when it arrived, shocked you more than you cared to realize, but now with sadness in your heart you continue through the drab monochrome day towards your destination. On the horizon, the sky and the forest meet and merge into a one washed out dark gray. In the monotony of the travel your mind takes you back to the times you had with the professor, happier days. Until this, his death and the nagging questions, the uncertainty. "Why me? Called here to be present at his last will and testament. And his death, so sudden? And his daughter, almost imploring me to attend. Why did the professor choose to retire here, he did nothing without reason?". Yet there are no answers to be found as you trudge forward. The trees by the paths, drip with the mists and moisture, the leaves and their branches seem to have their color washed out of them, pale imitations of the trees of summer. Your head bows, onwards once more.

It is mid afternoon when you arrive at the gates to the graveyard, called the Restlands, for all the souls who should never return to this world, but travel onwards to rest forever. Only a few are buried in this place, only those of special significance, with money and prestige, for everyone else there is Pharesma's pyre. The professor was one such man, learned and revered in the University of Lepidstadt, though retired and finally to be buried in this unsophisticated town, Ravengo.

As you peer through the haze of drizzle, you see the silhouette of a horse and cart, with a large oblong box on the back, surrounded by several people that have arrived already. As you get nearer, a young woman dressed in dark conservative attire with eyes puffed and red, from tears already shed, looks at you. She extends her hand and with a voice stuttering from grief and sobs continues, "Kendra Lorrimor, Petros' daughter." She peers into your face, not quite understanding really why you are here and what strange circumstances you would have known her father. "I am glad some of my father's trusted friends could be here, to see him on his way. You are welcome to the house, once we have ..." she sobs into a handkerchief before a large elderly man in wealthy clothes, puts his chubby short arm around Kendra's shoulders, or as much as he can, "There, there my girl. You keep a stiff upper lip, it'll see you through the worst of it." He barely acknowledges you, although his eyes cannot disguise an enmity, as if blaming you for the re-occurrence of Kendra's tears. He turns to those gathered around, and with a loud distinct voice with a military directness, says, "We shall have to move on soon. Would any be pallbearers for Petros' last journey?" As he asks you look to the coffin, a finely made coffin to take the professors body into the soil. The slim form of Kendra moves towards the open tall rusted gates of the Restlands, the gravel of the path letting a muffled crunching sound as she moves ahead a few yards, stopping and waiting for the coffin to begin it's procession to her father's resting place.

Please introduce yourselves to one another and you may be pallbearers if you so desire.

Hi,

I ordered 'The Tome of Horrors Complete', as a PDF, but didn't realize there were 2 versions of the book, one for Pathfinder and the other for Swords and Wizardly. I unfortunately ordered the OE version and not the Pathfinder version. Is it possible to to change the PDF to the correct Pathfinder version of the book. The current version is absolutely no use to me at all. I will delete the zip files and the PDFs from my possession, because I can't use them. I hope you are able to do this, otherwise I've spent my money on something I can't use. I must say it wasn't very clear when I ordered it that the game system wasn't Pathfinder.

Many Thanks

A player who is creating a rogue/monk will not accept that a rogue cannot sneak attack by using flanking. I have pointed out the wording, that I see as important on this...

It would be really good to have this resolved on the FAQ of the Core Rulebook, I looked but didn't see it.

Rogue Ability
Sneak Attack: If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage.

The rogue's attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every two rogue levels thereafter. Should the rogue score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this extra damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet.

With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (like a sap, whip, or an unarmed strike), a rogue can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, not even with the usual –4 penalty.

The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment.

Flanking
When making a melee attack, you get a +2 flanking bonus if your opponent is threatened by another enemy character or creature on its opposite border or opposite corner.

When in doubt about whether two characters flank an opponent in the middle, trace an imaginary line between the two attackers' centers. If the line passes through opposite borders of the opponent's space (including corners of those borders), then the opponent is flanked.

Exception: If a flanker takes up more than 1 square, it gets the flanking bonus if any square it occupies counts for flanking.

Only a creature or character that threatens the defender can help an attacker get a flanking bonus.

Creatures with a reach of 0 feet can't flank an opponent.

Normal interpretation
Probably 80%+ interpret that the phrase When making a melee attack, you get +2 flanking bonus means that you must be in melee to be flanking the opponent and therefore a thief within 30ft cannot do sneak attack damage through flanking.

Another interpretation
Flanking doesn't seem to explicitly exclude ranged flanking attacks, it states you don't get the flanking attack bonus, so sneak attack damage is taken by the target. OK, it is firing into melee and the melee fighter does not get the flanking bonus either, but it is open to this interpretation.

My player's interpretation.
The rogue's special abilities to do ranged sneak attacks, implies that any ranged sneak attack within 30ft where the opponent is in a line of flanking or denied dex, supercedes the combat rules, to make the rogue special and different from fighters etc.

So what did the game writers mean when they wrote the rules, which is the interpretation we should all have been using?

I play in games that interpret the rules as per the first option and I'm fine with that, but would really like a definitive interpretation, preferably put in the FAQs. It would save me and the player going at it hammer and tongs and getting a certain amount of resentment for doing it this way. The player is a DM for over 30yrs, from D&D V1.0 through to V3.5, so is quite resolute about his interpretations.

Furrbiddian Expansion

The game is just in its infancy (game thread about 100 posts), and the original engineer that was recruited has resigned his position by virtue of wandering away into the hinterlands. The expedition is in need of a replacement engineer to make his way to Balthelras from the Explorers Guild to join the assembled party. The party has thus far been investigating in Balthelras regarding their forthcoming expedition into the northern lands (and waiting to recruit a new player). The expedition hope to have the replacement in place and ready to go by Monday and the expedition can go ahead as planned.

Engineer applicants required by midnight Friday PDT. Applicants should make their applications on the game discussion thread so that the existing team can vet the applications. Applications made on this thread are not guaranteed to be looked at by the team, so are less likely to be accepted. So once again applications should be made on the discussion thread here In game I am Surveen Walsh, the our GM is Shanosuke.

Below you can find the original recruitment thread post, which lets you know what the game is about and how you might like to build your engineer.

The Setting::

Several thousand miles west of the inner sea region is the dark continent of Furrbiddian. It had been discovered by merchants and explorers several years ago. Many civilizations existed on the southern region but none in the northern region. The locals say that the northern expanse is cursed. Many explorers who have ventured forth and few return, they speak of the horrors of the north.
At the present, the kingdom of Balthelras is a neutral kingdom between to warring nations and is bordering the Northern expanse of Furbiddian. Balthelras has begun to over populate and needs to expand its territory. The only problem is that it is sandwiched on all fronts by other nation. The only direction it can expand is north, into the cursed lands. Many of the locals of Balthelras fear the cursed north. Foreign merchants told the king of Balthelras about the Explorer’s Guild.

The Explorer’s Guild::

The Explorer’s Guild is a prestigious group based in the inner sea region just outside of Valsarian. The Explorer’s Guild functions like a mercenary’s guild only they are not hired for battle. They are hired to aid in expeditions or even to be expeditions. They help other areas grow and expand by acting as forward scouts. They allow do monster hunting and other wilderness exploration. They act as prospectors and the like.

Your Story::

You are members of the Explorer’s Guild. A new job has been sent out to all members across Golorion. And it states the following:
Dear Members of the Explorer’s Guild
We have been contacted by the kingdom of Balthelras and King Hermond the 3rd from the new continent of Furrbiddian. The good king is looking to expand and we have been called upon to aid in this expansion as we prospect into northern Furbiddian to find suitable territory for the kingdom to start a new settlement. This is an opportunity for you all as you will also aid in colonizing this territory as the first foreigners to settle in Furrbiddian. You will be living there for the extension of the settling. The king will grant you citizenship as nobles should you choose to stay in the kingdom. This is an opportunity to start a rich life in a new land. We are looking for the following applicants:
Leader:
We are looking for a strong, charismatic individual to head this expedition into these lands. The leader must be brave and able to rally the rest of the team, keep them on track, and make critical decisions when the time comes.
Scholar/Surveyor
This is a knowledgeable individual who will be able to survey the land and provide the group with useful information on anything they encounter. The Scholar will be expected to keep the leader informed of the environment and other mechanics that come up. They will also act as translators for any locals, as such they are expected to be well versed in a large variety of languages.
Survivalist
A survivalist is the individual who acts as the team scouts. They will have knowledge about the wildlife and stealth skills to aid in moving covertly around living obstacles and observing them. Also they will aid in finding food sources.
Engineer/Technician
This individual will be mechanically sound and capable of tinkering. He should also be capable of crafting and disabling devices. He should also be capable of some medicine work. This individual would be responsible for any repairs or development planning that would be needed.

Two Guards

This is important. You must write a backstory that fits into your chosen role within the expedition. Your backstory should be easily adjustable to fit with your second choice role.

The Reason
You should also put forth your application with reasons why you are the best pick for the engineer.

This campaign will span 3 generations in game. This story will take several in game years to complete. This will be in the form of frequent time jumps. You will eventually be playing your descendants or new heroes depending on what will happens. Your actions will affect the world of the future generations. So make sure when you’re playing, that you make your choices wisely. This will also be a local campaign. Not too much long distance travel and you will have a home base.

We started with a group of 5 players, but due to various circumstances, 3 of the players have decided to depart from the game.

Megan our GM is a good GM and posts daily, so players are asked to do the same to keep the game rolling along. Both Megan and the remaining players are committed to keeping the game going and hope any player who joins will be too.

Currently we have an elven necromancer and a half-elf rogue, 1st level characters built with 20 points and 2 traits, yours should use the same. We hope to attract 2-3 more players, who can provide us with a good background as to why and what they are doing in Ravengro, or late for the funeral with an association with Professor Lorrimor.

We shall leave the thread open for submissions until midnight Monday 4th July, when we shall decide which players to invite, based upon their character and background stories. Please submit your character backgrounds on this thread, (with or without a full character sheet).

See the discussion thread and the game thread for background.

Sovereign Court

Reign Of Winter Slides

The sun on your back, the blues cloudless skies above and the screech of the seagulls as they wheel around, gives you cause for optimism, as always on a day like today. The notice board down at the docks is almost bare, as though the ships and their masters just want to enjoy the good weather and bathe in its beauty. You do see one notice that catches your eye, written in fresh glistening black ink

Captain Trueheart requires crew who can look after themselves and protect the ship and cargo. Well rewarded on return to Cortyn, round trip to Bloodcove, no questions asked. Come to the The Sleeping Lookout tavern and ask for me, Cap'n Trueheart.

Quite why you are attracted to this particular request for crew, is strange, perhaps Desna calls you. But you feel you must answer, you know you will be accepted and be leaving Cortyn tomorrow. How you know this, well you don't really know, maybe its just the smell of the brine on the air or just because its such a good day. Whatever, its time to chance your luck and leave Cortyn.

This is a place holder, I will post the next starting instalment later.

Reign Of Winter Slides

Ready to start the River of Darkness Pathfinder pbp character creation discussion and then any further discussions during the game, for instance when players or the DM knows they are not around.

I am hoping the players will be able to post at least once a day, any slower and the game seems to struggle to continue. I at least hope to do that, although weekends can be a bit hit and miss. we'll see how we can go.

First thing to do is get those hit points rolled up. I will assume that the 1st level class taken, is the favored class and will attract either the 1HP or 1 Skill point. Please tell me on your sheets when the favoured points are being spent.

A crew is needed to help transport and protect a cargo for Captain Trueheart and his sloop the Green Serpent. The ship is bound for Bloodcove, where they will pick up the cargo. He's let you know that he has enemies in Bloodcove, hence his need for protection for the cargo and himself. He will pay handsomely for a group of seafaring adventurers to supplement his crew. Will you join him?

Captain Trueheart, has need of 4 extra crew.
The crew will be 4th level characters, but Capt. doesn't like Summoners, who need not apply. Applications may be made here until the end of 24th October. Applicants should have details of what they do, what their backgrounds are and why they want to join the crew, their hopes and aspirations. The ship is expected to sail on the 1st November.

This is not a full campaign, just a trek into the wilderness of the Mwangi Expanse.

Ready for the game to restart here....

Reign Of Winter Slides

OK, I'm preempting your decision peps.

Oh, I'm thinking of running a very small game, to see how my DMing goes in PBP. If all goes well, I'll start Legacy of Fire afterwards, but don't hold me to it. So if anyone wants to trust to a DM with 'L'earner plates run through a small adventure to start with, not a campaign, then read on....

The premise I would like to start with is.....you are all from a small market town, probably young friends starting out. Maybe some of your parents are retired adventurers, maybe there are even siblings amongst you. But essentially I would like a relatively good party to set out together on a journey because you want to go adventuring together...(I am open to any background that provides for you want to go adventuring together and know one another beforehand).

...one of you has a letter of introduction to a friend of the family, Waldagy Jorthin, in the small city of Caerin Tun. Here working as a merchant he has offered to oversee the education of one or more of the group to identify and develop their heroic skills, in return for help with running his merchantile business.

...it is possible the adventure might move further on than just the initial Into the Haunted Forest...

So this is a wilderness adventure for 1st level characters, in a 'normal' fantasy world of forests, plains, mountains and stuff, think Western Europe.
I will run the adventure for 4-6 characters, it is NOT a Pathfinder Society run mission.
The deadline for character submission is midnight 14th May, I'm in the UK so midnight Pacific seems a good time for you all to stop.

We will go with the 20pt character build.
Normal Pathfinder races and classes, including the 6 from the Advanced Players Guide(Final Beta).
The game will be played here as I have uploaded my maps already.

I will choose the characters that will...
1) Provide a balanced party
2) Have a good backstory and personality
3) Some idea of how you might want the character to progress
4) The ability scores
5) the 2 traits chosen...(toying with the best backstory getting 1 extra trait?)

I will not expect a character to be fully formed,
in fact I half expect not to look at the character sheet except for those things above. I am probably showing my naivity as a DM here,
but we'll see how it goes.

This is my place to invite players into any games I may run in the future, well its quite imminent.
