There's been a lot of sickness going around the area here. Both I and GM have been pretty out of it for a good minute with the flu and the like. Hopefully should both be back on our feet soon.

Daiki spent the long time on the way to, and waiting for, the harrow thinking deeply about his question. He knew the Kami of home had some ability to read into the future, though he had never before met a human that could do the same. What blessings such a person must possess. When it was his turn, finally, Daiki took a deep breath and went in.

Harrowing Question:

Alone with Madame Vshanti, Daiki bowed deeply. "Greetings, madam. As you may be aware, long and far has been my path to lead me here, standing in front of you. Life as I once knew it has been torn from me, and I am left with a great many questions. But one troubles me most - bears down on my mind, and all my actions. What am I to do, to move on with honor - honor not just for me, but for that of my fallen brother in arms, and my master, on who's account alone I have survived to be here?"

I imagine wisdom is probably the most fitting attribute for this.

I'm not super into much in the loot list to be honest. Perhaps the cold iron dagger, and the potion of jump, but other than that I don't need much at all.

Like our GM said, genuinely just hope for the best for you and your family. It takes precedence over games for sure. We'll be here if/whenever you're ready to return to the fray!

"There are many other sources of power in this world, in addition and separate from the divine, with their own ability to reach and heal people. I have seen just that first hand." Daiki took a second, and thought of the holy symbols he carried with him. Of what they meant.

"Of course, that is not to say the power of the gods is anything to be dismissed. There is something to be said of the existence of a separate plane dwelling existence taking interest enough in our lives to provide aid."

Looking through the items found, Daiki was amazed that such items would be with goblins. Some seemed particularly expensive. He supposed that there would have to be some level of sponsorship behind these goblins that would account for it.

"As for what we do next - it would perhaps be a good idea to search for something about the people in town. Although, I must admit, I am quite interested in attending that play later this evening, should we have the opportunity."

M CG Human (Tian-Min) Ninja | HP: 3/9 | AC: 16, T: 13, FF: 14) | CMB: +0, CMD: 14 | F: +2, R: +6, W: -1 | Init: +6 | Perc: +3, SM: +3 | Speed 30ft |Active conditions: none

Once again, Daiki was at a debt to magic for its capability, and Verona for her use of it. "Thank you, Verona. I will do my best not to trip into anymore goblin swords, or at least, not as badly."

Standing up and stretching out his once again like-new limb, he scanned the beach as well, looking for anything that others may have missed.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

The final goblin put down, Daiki breathed a sigh of relief - a sigh that was punctuated by the pain that shot through his injuries sustained in the fight. Fighting through the pain, he retrieved some rope from his pack and went up to the unconscious goblin and their mount, proceeding to tie them up. With a loud thump, he then sat on the sand of the beach to try to rest. "If...someone could...help me out...a little...it would be...much appreciated...otherwise...I'm just going to be...a moment." The words came out in slow, punctuated breaths, as Daiki inspected his injuries.

CMB +0 to tie up the goblin and mount, I have rope in my pack, so I'll take 20 for a grand total of 20.

The magical abilities of the party seemed to be quite effective at dealing with the goblins. It made Daiki almost want to delve into that world himself certainly full of useful tricks. Almost.

For now, he would content himself to focusing on the task literally in front of him.

Whoops, totally forgot about that. Thanks for being on top of things.

Daiki winced as the goblin blade hits him. For such small creatures, they were still dangerous with sharp things in their hands. Carefully stepping into a better position away from the goblin on his flank, he struck out twice.

Lost in his own thoughts about the whole situation, Daiki found himself following along the rest of the party on the way to the junk beach before he realized it. As much as he had been rather looking forward to that play that was happening, this situation endangering Sandpoint was much more serious. After all, no city meant no people meant no play. In these situations, information was the most important thing - and a gathering at junk beach seemed like a great place to start.

Daiki's thoughts were affirmed when immediately upon arriving they were attacked by the group of goblins. I should have scouted ahead...damn it. Too late now. Drawing his wakizashi's, Daiki looked at the formation of goblins, deciding it was not the moment to charge in unprepared, especially with those long reaching slicers. Instead, he stepped up to Kano and prepared to react to the actions of the goblins. "Steady, Kano. I have got your back. You are no mountain to be felled this day."

Daiki smiles at Filona as they exit. "The mover of mountains is indeed correct. You did a wonderful job in there. I am quite impressed."

"As for what we do next - I rather agree with Kano. Thistletop seems to be the end goal here. Perhaps in finding the Sandpoint natives, or other clues at this Junk Beach, we may obtain more valuable information about what else is going on, before rushing into a hideout. At which point, I could attempt to do some reconnaissance - I have some skill in infiltration, after all."

Depending on what we find about the people involved in town and so on, this may change, but I think it would be fun to try to disguise/bluff the way into Thistletop. Classic "I'm a guard and these are my prisoners" case. But maybe that's something to address later."

Daiki watched the conversation between Filona and the others apprehensively. He understood the implications, and he had seen the necessity of those actions in his time as a ward. But truth be told, he had never been quite comfortable with it, and he was glad that it wasn't coming to that. He was handy with his his swords, but he had no desire to use them for torture.

"If tricks and wordplay are what's needed, then I can certainly be of some assistance. I've had to do my fair share of...bluffing, in my time. And I can't imagine this goblin is the most intelligent."

Daiki nods in acknowledgement towards the gnome. "That would be a good idea. It's just strange to me - the goblins we fought didn't seem particularly clever. Clearly, there is a lot yet to learn."

Daiki stepped warily away from the robe which Filona so identified as necromantic. He would leave that to the magic users. Instead, he studied the sarcophagi, just as uncomfortable as Perri seemed to be. "Would goblins have something like this magical robe? There's a lot here that doesn't make sense. If this man's bones are stolen, then there would be a reason. Perhaps the Father knows more?"

Stowing his surprisingly effective swords away, Daiki nodded at Kano's words. "This resting place has been disturbed by profane undeath, and it would be best to do our task of returning it as swift as possible."

Leaving the analysis of the robes and sarcophagi to those more skilled at such things, Daiki spent some time piling together the bones of the skeletons and generally tidying up the area as best he could. The dead and their resting places deserved respect as much as the living.

Watching the walking pile of bones somehow manage to avoid the attacks of the entire party, Daiki more and more praised his luck in being able to take one down almost immediately. If both had stayed up with this level of resistance, it could have been a lot worse. Still, this was rather irritating. "Once more, again. Everything can be cut eventually!" With that, he slashed again.

Watching the rest of the party have a difficult time dealing with the second skeleton, Daiki was flabbergasted at how he managed to seemingly destroy the first one in a single blow. Surely a battle axe or hammer would have done just as much. Or maybe his training was finally paying off. Stepping a bit to get behind the second skeleton, Daiki tested his ideas by swinging again at the abomination of bones.

"I hope that you are right about that, sheriff." Daiki says before joining the rest closer to the entrance. He wasn't sure what Verona needed to do her magic, so he made sure to give ample space. He scanned the ground in front of the tomb, trying to see any helpful sign of what was going on. "I wonder what goblins would even want with a crypt. Daiki nodded towards Verona. "This is about more than individual hesitations it seems, so yes, I will come. Although, I wouldn't mind some holy water, if there does happen to be some lying around. Makes for a good distraction as I stab and slash them back to death. "

Turning to Perri, Daiki gives a sly smile. "Although, you and that big wall make an even better one, if all goes well." Daiki thumbed his sword hilts in nervous anticipation. Hopefully it did go well, and they would not need to be in there too long.

"We may not be breaking, but we are still entering. But I suppose," Daiki says, sighing in resignation. "Better us than those goblins." He was slightly comforted by the hesitation from others in the group, but both the Sheriff and Verona made valid points. He "I don't know how well my swords will do against spirits, but I will do what I am able. Is there anything for us non-magically trained folks you might recommend, Sonas, Sheriff?"

Walking to find the Sheriff, Daiki was unsure how to feel about the cheers and attention the group garnered from the people of Sandpoint. He had been used to working mostly secretly in Minkai, so receiving public adoration, no matter how small, made him feel uneasy. He waved and offered small greetings as others in the party did, for it seemed rude not to, but he was glad to have his mask on regardless.

Hearing the Sheriff's request did little to assuage his uneasiness. "Breaking into the house of the dead is not right. Who, or what, is buried there, if I may ask?"

M CG Human (Tian-Min) Ninja | HP: 3/9 | AC: 16, T: 13, FF: 14) | CMB: +0, CMD: 14 | F: +2, R: +6, W: -1 | Init: +6 | Perc: +3, SM: +3 | Speed 30ft |Active conditions: none

Laying in his bed after the disbanding of the group, Daiki thought on the events of the day. The arrival of the goblins had been wholly unexpected, as was his own rapid response. Truth be told, he had no real sense of obligation to the town. However, the thought of letting such a place fall victim to flames and chaos - a place that Lord Kiguchi had called home - was unthinkable. He wanted to learn more about it, and the people. Perhaps he would be able to call this place his new home as well. It didn't hurt that taking care of the invading goblins had been the first time he felt like he had a real purpose since he left Minkai. Being able to do some good in this town honored the memory of his companions, and that was good enough for now.

Waking early in the morning as was his usual, Daiki spent a good deal of time stretching out before heading down for breakfast. Today he wore a shorter version of his tanuki mask, allowing space for eating. Although it was hard to see, his eyes grew as wide as his stomach with delight upon seeing the food choice. "It's like I never left home." he said delightfully, savoring the miso soup. There hadn't been any decent cooks on the journey here, and he wasn't going to let go of the chance any sooner than he had to. Only after finishing the food and thanking Ameiko did he notice the sheriff talking to members of the group. "Good morning, I hope you all slept well." he said as he approached. "Did the sheriff say anything specific about the job? I wonder what it could be." Responding to Kano's later arrival he remarked "I do not see a reason that we cannot see both the sheriff and the fortune teller this day. Efficiency is always a good practice. Out of curiosity, are there many giants in the area? And what is the source of your hatred towards them? I do not know much about them, especially here."

M CG Human (Tian-Min) Ninja | HP: 3/9 | AC: 16, T: 13, FF: 14) | CMB: +0, CMD: 14 | F: +2, R: +6, W: -1 | Init: +6 | Perc: +3, SM: +3 | Speed 30ft |Active conditions: none

In the pursuit of efficiency and interaction, I'm going to fast-forward to Daiki being at the The Rusty Dragon, but I'll continue the Sabyl conversation as it goes.

Arriving at the inn after the visit with Sabyl, Daiki found the rest of the goblin hunting group at a table, enjoying a host of delicious looking food and drink. He realized he was rather hungry himself, especially after the long day, and ordered a couple of the dishes he had tried before. Just as then, he elected to stay away from the more eccentric sounding dishes; after the events of the day, goblin brain cookies did not sound particularly appetizing.

When the food arrived, Daiki took his mask off and set it beside the plate on the table, giving the party their first real look at his face. As he ate, he listened to the conversation the table was having as it turned to the topic of the play. "You know," he said in an opening, putting his food down for a second. "I once had the opportunity to attend the show of a master storyteller. My colleague at the time insisted that I had to attend, and eventually I gave in. Honestly, I was not expecting much from the event. It was just one man, after all. Yet this storyteller played the part of multiple characters, by himself, and all while sitting down! The story itself was rather entertaining - a comedy, although I don't remember much except the laughter of the audience. I do seem to recall however that there was a point where a tree was growing out of a man's head! I walked out of that theater a new fan of plays, although it is as of yet still the only one I've been to. It would be interesting to attend one more traditional of the area."

At the mention of Harrowing, Daiki again put his food down. "Ah, a fortune teller! That is quite the offer. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see what they have to say. Although, I wonder, do they speak of mysteries of the past as well as the future?" he asked the last part almost too nonchalantly, as if trying to hide his true level of interest.

Daiki nodded solemnly, hearing the history of the Kaijitsu family. "Losing your family is not easy. It can make people do things you would not dream of. We can only hope Tsuto, and Ameiko for that matter, are taking care of themselves. What happened to Lonjiku?" After Sabyl's response, he took a moment to reflect on his own journey here to Sandpoint. Perhaps this was a good place for him to start finding his own way again. "Well, I think I would enjoy training with you while I am here, if you would have me. One should always strive to improve themselves in some way. And honestly, the training and companionship would be welcome, having just arrived in town."

Daiki accepted the offer, sitting on the mat with hands on knees. "My name is Yamatori Daiki." he said, giving her a small bow from his seated position. "Your words are kind, and I appreciate them. Though I don't think it is any great thing to do what one thinks is right. But really, I just didn't want everything to burn down before I got a chance to see it." he said, amusement touching his voice at the last part. He paused for a moment then, taking in the view of the chamber. He had seen similar such dojos and training areas, but none as fancy as to have polished, colorful stones around. Its tended state, along with the expertise with which Sabyl executed her practice forms, showed that she truly cared deeply about her pursuit. Daiki had much respect for that. "As for why I'm here, it's because you proffered that invitation to me at the festival. I was in the area, and figured I would check up to make sure nothing had happened. Clearly, my worry was misplaced." he said, gesturing towards Sabyl sweat-less form. "But I am also interested in hearing more about you and your home here. Are there many here like you, also seeking perfection in their lives?"

Daiki nodded along to Verona's description of goblin-pox, trying not to indicate that he was trying quite hard to try to keep up with her accent. The others seemed not have too hard a time understanding her. He wondered how common this accent was in the area, and how long it would take to get used to hearing it. "Ah, that was quite...informative. I'll do my best to remember that, in case I run into the issue. Do you know what the cure is?"

As the group made their final patrol around Sandpoint before retiring to the inn, Daiki remembered the words of the woman that had approached him at the festival. What was her name again? Sabyl...something. He let his mind wander as his feet did, trying to remember. Eventually as they started approaching the House of Blue Stones, he did. Sabyl Sorn her name was, and from her words previously, he imagined that they were followers of Irori. Daiki doubted that they had had much trouble with the goblins, but he wanted to be sure.

"Excuse me a bit, I will meet you all back at the inn." he said to the group as he broke off to check up on Sabyl and anyone else that resided there.

Sorry for the long wait in posting, past couple days have been super busy.

Although Verona could not quite see it due to the mask, Daiki's eyes widened as the wood witch's magic re-knit his injury. She could, however, feel his sharp intake of breath. Daiki was not a stranger to magical healing, especially considering that the Father had healed them all with a powerful burst earlier. But there was a certain level of fascination with the process. No, perhaps fascination was not the right word, for there was a slight apprehension that hadn't really come out before with Father Zantus' healing burst. Still, it was a good and useful resource, and Daiki was not one to pass those up.

"So no goblin pox or anything. That's a relief." Standing up, he tested out the leg. Putting pressure on it, hopping back and forth, and even testing out a few kicks and jumps. It was as good as if nothing had ever happened. Facing Verona, Daiki gave a deep bow. "Your abilities are remarkable. I am glad you came with us, who knows what would have happened to this leg of mine otherwise. Thank you for your aid."

Turning then to Aldern Foxglove, he gave a slight bow of the head in acknowledgement. "I am Yamatori Daiki. It seems you are unhurt, though I am sorry for the loss of your companion. May the kami of your land guide his soul to peace." It was pleasant niceties, although he did not like the way Aldern eyed Verona. Sure, one time in his life he might have done the same. But he had learned a bit about station and role, and it was definitely not proper for someone like this Mr. Foxglove. Before he did or said anything else though, Ameiko came by and gave a tongue lashing herself. Smiling at the fellow Tian-Min he gave her a bow as well. "おもてなしに感謝します。" he said, in his native tongue. Although he was unsure if Ameiko actually spoke fluent Tien, it still felt good to speak it again. "Is there anyone or anywhere else in need of assistance that you know of? If not, I would much like to make my way to the inn. All this fighting has given me quite an appetite."

Daiki said: We appreciate your hospitality, thank you.

Taking the goblin head with a clean stroke, Daiki snapped his blade to relieve it of excess blood and turned around to face the mounted goblin, only to be met head-on with the crude blade of the enemy catching his leg. He stumbled as blood sprayed out, letting out a small grunt of pain. As he caught his breath, Kano the mountain rushed past him at the goblin, swinging her hammer ferociously. Mover of mountains, indeed. This presented a good opportunity to move around behind the enemy to a better a position; so that's what he did, stepping carefully to not put too much pressure on his injury. Circling around the left of the horse, he stabbed at the back of the mounted foe.

My movement assumes Kano went straight east to the mounted goblin.

Daiki bowed his head at Kano's words. "Your words honor me, oh mountainous one. With you at your side, how could these goblins ever stand a chance?"

He turned a wary eye towards the tied up goblin. He didn't really trust it at all, but it didn't look like it was going anywhere. Addressing the rest of the group, he said "North seems like the way to go. Let's clean up and try to salvage the night as best we can for the town."

Once everyone is ready, he will go north, staying near the front of the group.

With that slippery film on the ground, there was no good way of facing the remaining goblin head on. Instead, Daiki made his way around the outside of the cart next to him, trying to maneuver behind the screeching goblin that was making such a racket.

Sighing a breath of relief as the magical energy washed over him and healing his wound, Daiki surveyed the area. The chaos of the goblins here and other places in town had caused an abrupt departure of most of the gathered people, which left all the good food and meticulously planned out lunch all strewn about. It was a shame, really. He had been enjoying the food immensely, and had been hoping for a chance to talk more with Ameiko. It was clear that she, like him, hailed from Minkai, and it felt good to have something familiar in this land. But these goblins had been a major surprise. Where had they even come from? He eyed the others from the square that had participated in the sudden attack. Perhaps they would know more.

Keeping his wakizashi out just in case of another attack, Daiki addressed the group of people now behind him with a slight bow. "I wasn't expecting many other citizens to be prepared for such a sudden attack, but your aid was swift and effective." Nodding distinctly towards the woman with the giant hammer and the gnome he had met earlier in the fair, he added "Thank you for your help."

"My name is Yamatori Daiki. I've just come to Sandpoint recently. While I don't know the town very well yet, I would hate for it to burn down as a result of these reptiles." he said, gesturing towards the carcasses of goblins. "Normally I would go off on my own, but who knows how many of them there are. Perhaps if one of you has a better idea of the prominent areas of town, we can group up and try to prevent any major disasters from occurring."

Daiki blinked in slight surprise as a hammer attached to the arm of a massive woman pulverized the goblin warrior he had just exchanged blows with. Little bits of blood spewed out onto the floor and on to his boots, but Daiki was more captivated by his fellow warrior in this battle. He had never before seen a woman so strong and tall. It was...disconcerting. But there was time to ponder about the strange offerings of this new land later. Seeing that the remaining standing goblin was being taken care of by the a couple other fighters on the field, he instead stepped over to the unconscious goblin. The small, reptilian figure seemed almost kind of endearing, knocked out in sleep and sprawled about on the wagon as it was. From what he had seen though, he was sure it would be far less so if it woke up again. With a slash to the goblin's throat, Daiki gave it the mercy of a swift death.

"By the Kami, what an awful racket these goblins make." Daiki winced as the disturbing, shrill voices resonate in the air. PUlling his wakizashi out from their sheaths on his lower back into reverse grip in either hand, Daiki surveyed the battlefield. Being hidden behind the wagon due to their small stature, he wasn't certain he could get to them without putting himself in a precarious position. It brought him pain to see the innocent dog murdered, but he knew patience was key, especially in dangerous situations. So instead, he crouched low and kept a careful eye on the enemy movements, readying himself for the fight ahead.

Watching the arrows strike true at the target, Daiki smiled to himself. The Kami had been kind to him, and brought him success. Yes it was just a game, but it made him feel better, and for that, he was glad. Bowing again to Savah, he traded the shortbow for the special arrows. "Thank you for your gift. I will make sure to put them to use - who knows, maybe I will find that devil and find out!" Straightening up, Daiki smiled at her, attaching the quiver of arrows to his belt. "May the rest of your day bring you as much fortune as it has me for this event."

Daiki left the range in renewed spirits. He was glad to see the rest of the people enjoying their time at the various stalls, and decided that he probably wouldn't have a performance as great as what had just happened. So instead, Daiki stepped off to the side, trying to find a clear grassy area. Wanting to ride the wave of good feeling, he laid his extraneous gear near him on the ground, and started stretching. Once he was done and warmed up, Daiki started the body weight and acrobatics conditioning routine that he had done many times before. The exercise and focus to his tasks helped him to keep his mind in check, and it probably didn't hurt with getting the latent exhaustion from the last few months of travel out of his bones.

Before too long, Daiki became aware of some people stopping to watch him, likely enticed by the variety of flips and twirls he managed to execute. Smiling to himself, Daiki added some flourishing to the basic routine. It was not standard, but if it brought some joy to those around, it would be worth it.

Shifting through the filings, Daiki was slightly surprised that he didn't find anything. Shrugging the feeling off, he bowed to the couple running the stand. "Thank you for the chance to partake in your activity. I hope the rest of the day brings you fortune and fun."

Continuing his circuit within the festivities, Daiki took in the wide array of people enjoying their lives. There was widespread fun and laughter, and great joy even in the minute defeats of people trying out activities. He watched a woman single-handedly defeat a team of three in a game of strength with rope, and clapped alongside others in the crowd at the marvelous display. He could see why his Lord had loved this town so much. He had never been a part of any real celebration or widespread town festivity growing up in Oda, and had the chance to see something similar only once or twice in his missions. The people living here were lucky to have so much, and Daiki was happy for them. He only wished he could have brought the same to his home.

Trying to put the melancholy out of his thoughts, Daiki walked up to what looked to be a game in the guise of an archery range. "Greetings, smith Bevaniky," he said, pulling the name from the sign next to the stand. "I would like the chance to participate in this contest of yours." After getting the price, Daiki traded his silver for a shortbow and 3 arrows, and assumed his position in front of the target. He hefted the bow in his hand, noting the weight distribution and quality of craftsmanship. He had been trained in the use of shortbows as part of his training under Lord Kiguchi, although it had never been his particular choice of weapon. Curious to test how much he remembered, Daiki took a moment to take a deep breath and center himself, before firing all three arrows.
