The generic post to share before attempting to recovery post:

So, I got the flu. Not really over it, yet, but past the worst of it.

I went to get tested to verify it was flu, and the care providers went down the "better safe than sorry hole" a might to far, in my opinion.

Standard questions, designed to check for other, deeper concerns/problems, right? "Do you have any tightness in your chest?" "I've been coughing for about three days at this point, yes, I have a tightness in my chest!" So, they stopped everything about verifying the flu in order to check for a heart attack. Thing is, my fever had just started to break, and I was not only DRENCHED in sweat, but I was still actively sweating that hard. They couldn't get a good EKG read because the contact stickers wouldn't. Stick, I mean.

They called an ambulance and transferred me to an ER, to make sure I wasn't having a heart attack. The ER team was focused on EXACTLY one thing, for obvious reasons. First thing they did different? They took that super medical tape and taped the sensors down. EKG told them almost immediately that there was no heart attack going on. I was still in that ER for nearly 15 hours . . ..

IV fluids. Roughly 2.4 liters of fluid pushed into my system. Breathing treatment. Seems when I arrived in the ER, my O2 saturation was around 82. They started to admit me in order to watch my O2 saturation levels, but after I sat in their ER for that long without any further dips, they accepted it might not still be required and discharged me instead of continuing to wait for a room. Having an asthmatic wife means we have a nebulizer at home, and that helped sell the release, too. Still spending more time asleep than awake, for now.

Missed a couple of Santa gigs the family had lined up. Went to a photoshoot with a family yesterday. I was there for about 10 minutes, just needing to sit and smile, but I stumbled into the house when I got home, completely exhausted. I'm supposed to go get caught in a neighbor's house tonight. Very worried about going. Just as worried about denying their kids.

Sorry to hear about that Perri. Flu has been hitting hard in my area as well, I caught a nasty stomach flu at the end of the 25th. Now when I'm getting better, the rest of the family is getting sick and I'm taking care of them.

My posting will take up again when everything is settling down again here at home hospital.

Looks like hustonj's most recent post was on the 14th (a couple of aliases, at least) and Perri's last post was on the 2nd. I've got them in another game and they haven't been particularly active lately either, though judging by the post they made her on Dec 24th things might be busy at home.

Experience 1,405/2,000 | Level 1 | #001: Burnt Offerings | Part 2: Local Heroes | Day 2 (Sunday, 23 Rova 4707)

Another important note to be shared: we will be moving to the medium experience track for the campaign. I know that most of you won't really care either way, but the AP was written originally written for D&D 3.5 and the conversion to Pathfinder, to account for that, using the fast xp track. I mapped out the experience for the whole AP (that took a minute) and realized the the final gauntlet of encounters where you would be would be, in a word, impossible. I'll be changing my tagline accordingly.

Thanks for making this a fun game thus far, by the way. This is my eighth time running Burnt Offerings and I never seem to tire of it. I'm glad that we're getting back on track after a decidedly slow holiday season (which is mostly my fault).

Hey all, I think we're gonna have Perri chill with his family for the time being (after this combat, of course). His player has been absent from the forums for the past few weeks in some games and about a month in others. I don't think I will go through re-recruitment or anything as of yet, just in case he shows back up.

This will drop your APL back down to 1, so I will be using encounters as-written for the time being. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and genuinely no shade at Perri, but please let me know if you have an extended leave of absence. I know life can really get in the way of silly forum games but I just want to make sure I'm not excluding someone from a segment when they're only a few days from returning.

I agree. I like playing with the original party. Also, Perri deserves time to get better, he got a serious scare late last year. It would be cool of us to wait.

Hey.

First, I owe everyone apologies for vanishing without a word. I've come back to try to apologize for doing so, and to let you know that I have no idea when I'll be able to meaningfully return.

That's as far s anyone needs to read. If you're curious, you are free to keep going, though.

Why did I vanish? My wife had started an evaluation of her knees, scheduled to run for about 2 months. First appointment was on a Monday. Late that same Thursday we were told the evaluation was over and they were going to schedule her for a full knee replacement in her worse leg. We found out that next Monday that surgery was that Thursday, a week after we were told she would be having surgery.

I took some sick leave to help her through the surgery and earliest recovery stages. I've been working half days, taking sick leave for the rest, for the past couple of weeks, trying to keep her from doing too much with the live-in grand kids and doing her exercises, with only partial luck.

She's doing her exercises while I type, and the grand kids are down for their naps. Today is going to be the last day I PLAN to do the half-day thing. Thing is, even having been home so much more than normal, I've been going non-stop. We were two weeks past her surgery before I even got into the office where my computer sits, and we're over three weeks past it now and I've had to steal the time to let people know what's going on.

I don't know how long it will be before I can reasonably expect the leisure time to properly contribute to these games again. I am sorry for vanishing, but I have to focus on my wife's actual needs before I play.

Game specific:

I was really having fun with Perri, too. I honestly expected (as a player) to dislike Verona, but those interactions have been fun, too.

Good discussion to have while we wait.

I have no particular request. I even have bad Dex, so the alchemical items won't do much for me. And bad str, so I'm not a good mule either.

If we're going for efficiency, we casters and ranged should grab these alchemical items for battlefield control. Like, Vernoa grabs smokestick, I get tanglefoot bag, Sonas something else, etc.

I'm not super into much in the loot list to be honest. Perhaps the cold iron dagger, and the potion of jump, but other than that I don't need much at all.

Agreed, with all of whats been said, especially holding on to the cold iron dagger just in case lol. But I’m cool with selling whatever other people don’t want.

I'd take the flaming arrows and the normal ones possibly, other than that I'm quite okay with others taking the rest or we sell it. though keeping the alchemist's fire for the possibility of swarms would be good to have.

I still think tindertwig and tanglefoot can be very useful at times. Especially at low levels. I say we sell the unwanted weapons and use the alchemical. I don't know when we get to Thistletop, but I'm willing to bet we'll need every help we can get.

Well, for me and my family it's been easier. We've prepared and have isolated ourselves from the world in the vacations home in the mountains with spare food.

For the general populace, on the other hand, things are not so well. There aren't enough tests to confirm the amount of disease and our clown of a president has no clue about how serious this is. The virus has already gotten to the less fortunate parts of Rio and São Paulo where the demographic density is high. Predictions indicate that April is going to be the peak of the virus. An European study has estimated that only 11% of the total cases have been officially reported.

Anyway, stay healthy everyone.

GM and I are in the same boat as you, Kano, with Michigan. I'm rather concerned because my family has been showing some of the symptoms but I'm unsure whether it's just the flu or allergies instead, as they haven't been able to be tested yet.

It seems that there's a rather high level of unpreparedness in a lot of places, and the startlingly high amount of people who aren't taking this seriously may just cause this all to go on longer than it should, unfortunately.

I do hope everyone and your families stay safe and healthy.

Hopefully everyone and your loved ones can stay safe. Here in the Netherlands, we're trying to weather the peak of the outbreak, but still it feels overwhelming. I'm lucky I am still in good health, but I worry about others close to me as well.

I've still got my job to travel to and public transport feels like taking risks, but I got no choice. I work in a reasonably vital sector so our job has to continue so as to make this as comfortable and easy as possible for other people around us.

Again, watch yourselves and others and I hope you all stay safe and healthy.
