Xanxan moves along with Sheelah and Beck then, "Should we use the excuse of being some sort of entertainers then?"
Xanxan contemplates stealing the four gold back. I suppose they might get upset if I slipped up.
Xanxan hangs back for a moment, delighted at the sight of freshwater Merrow not because they're nice, they're not but because its a new sight for him.
"Nice shot, Helgash...whew, and just in time." When the situation is explained, he bows to the woman, "I am sorry for your sorrows."
Xanxan glances around but to little avail
Xanxan feels his wounds heal, "My thanks, Helgash." He stabs at the twig creature, trying to position himself so the good oracle/paladin is indeed still nearby, "Interesting to fight a foe who's proper sized at least."
Xanxan looks about for the voice as well
"Amazing..." Xanxan gazes at the cloak in awe, "There must have been some magic in this fine fur piece you've found, for when I sewed it to a cloak, it began to change around."
Xan, when we gots the time yea ken use the pelt ta make a right fine and fancy cloak, eh?" beck says as he moves to butcher the animal Xanxan nods vigorously, "Sure thing." ..........
Xanxan sees the fellow he's been shooting drop to one knee, but still won't die. I think it's time to start poisoning my bolt tips. He fires once more at the fellow
Xanxan rolls his eyes as his foe insists on surviving, backs up a bit more, and fires again
Xanxan blinks as the shot he gave was solid, but not lethal, Ambushes aren't nearly as effective as the bards would have one believe. I may have made a mistake here. Then he himself is wounded. Definitely made a mistake. Zagging back and just a bit closer to his friends, Xanxan fires another shot at the one he wounded earlier. If he can find some cover, so much the better.
Xanxan will fire from his hiding spot hoping to catch one of the hunters in the back of the neck once one is close enough to take full advantage of a sneak attack of his own.
Blast, I really should study the upper crust some more. Trained falcons usually mean wealth but that doesn't help. Are they allies or foes? Likely the latter from what I gathered. Curse my short legs, I can't be sure I'd get back to the others... Xanxan tries to slip back to position himself into a hiding spot where he can at least help his friends out once a fight starts. If he sees them in the distance on the way, so much the better
"Oh, I don't see them..." the gnome sighs in disappointment. but at Venja's comment, he smiles, and says, "Oh, I can try. Point the way." And with that, he sneaks towards the goal.
"I'm just glad you're okay, Venja," The gnome said to her gently. He also nodded at the suggestion of double watches and spent part of his watch salvaging the fur of his fallen foe.
The gnome eats heatedly despite his small size, as if stocking up for a very long winter.
Xanxan will try to flank a wolf on Venja and stab stab stab....
Xanxan slept heavily during the night, but when he awoke he seemed a bit more of his old self, though he was still quiet during the trip. " I think," he says, looking at the summer area, "That it's wonderful."
"Cursing in public is rude," The gnome says unhelpfully, not that he means to be unhelpful, it's just well he doesn't think of how he could be, if he could at all....
"I heard tales of a cursed bit of clothing that turned a man into a woman once, not that being a woman is a curse, but the fellow who put it on wasn't happy and he called it cursed so...oh wait, obviously that's not the curse either of you is under."
"Well, I can understand caution."
The gnome cries to see the reunion, and then cries to hear of a good meal, and then cries when he realizes there's a lot to cry about. Finally he wipes his face, "Pardon, I seem to be especially sentimental right now. Good to see you reunited."
"You had that stuff all over you?" He asks the man, "Not the wife, the plants. Did it make you want to punch the next person swearing orange was the new black? Well, maybe not that, but making you speak before you thought, making you want to not care about consequences? "
"That's kind of you, Duardlara... you're quite quiet yourself. We should have a quiet off. Scare folks... wait, I don't feel so good, or I do feel good, but also rash, or maybe glib... I think that plant did something to me."
"Husband?" The glob hits Xanxan, "Ugh, how revolting."
The gnome winces as he feels it trying to crawl INTO him, and he retreats (full move back to the others) cursing bitterly in gnomish Gnomish: "What, is everyone else possessing an UNinteresting brain that I'm always the ones to get these blighted things directed at me?"[/B]
Xanxan isn't sure what to make of this, and moves both to make room for Duardlara and get a bit of distance even as he fires.
"A longbow?"He whispers in confusion following the elf's lead. Maybe she knows more about this.
Xanxan sneaks closer to back up their newest member if need be, a crossbow ready.
Having been nearly tricked more than once, Xanxan makes his own judgment on the woman's sincerity.
Xanxan eats lean, in both senses of the word, and while he doesn't speak of how others need him to eat light, he certainly seems to fulfill that requirement.
"is there some magic to UNspoil the food?" The gnome inquires
"Well, we gnomes are distantly related to the First World beings... not that means he'll treat me any nicer. Any idea how big this thing might be? I could try to knit him a sweater."
"Ale? Eech," Xanxan shudders,"... at least give me the courtesy of a fine vintage wine." It's not that the gnome doesn't drink ale, but still, if he must be devoured, he has standards.
"it certainly FELT like someone stepped on my eyeball... oh my. I no longer feel any guilt for putting feathers on hats." The gnome says, "And thank you folks for helping restore my sight. A world without color...horrid."
But that doesn't mean he's not chipping in when it comes to looking about.
Seeing that ducking isn't helping much, Xanxan can't do much but swing wildly at the birds on him, even as he hopes to keep his eyes intact.
"They are not gently tapping!" Xanxan gags
Xanxan tries to tuck and roll out of the flock on him...
Xanxan had hesitated for the same reason Frostborn had, but the thread is out of the weave as some say, so he fires at one of the birds.
"Ah, to blend in in a land where everyone is a winter. Let's see... I think I might be the hard one to fit in given my excellent if unique around here stature..."
Xanxan will work hard on the clothes to 'fit in', but he doesn't stop there. It would appear he understands a bit about dye not just applied to clothing but hair, and can smudge complexions if need be.
She bows to the tailor gnome. "Master Xanxan. We will have to discuss your wares, I can see. I like the cut of your jacket - is it one of yours?" "Oh yes indeed, though with all the travel and fighting, I fear the poor thing will soon be on its last legs, figuratively speaking. Had I the material, I could make you one much like it." "You certainly an unusual bunch - this is going to be fun!" At that, Xanxan looks to the others, "I think I like her. She's chipper!"
As he's introduced, he bows, "A pleasure to meet you, Lady Frostborn. Any family of Variel is a potential customer of mine." The gnome smiles. To Venja he says, "We seem to have gotten the worst of the threats gone here, and this will certainly be more comfortable than a camp site, so I'm for it, but I'm quite amiable either way. And yes, if the oath is pulling you that hard, then freeing the hut is a must."
"Certainly, let's go," He nods to Venja
"She's lovely, really, definitely a winter...which seems to fit the theme lately. Odd, we lose one elf, and gain another... but we don't know if this one is even more competent than our friend. IF she is, then would this be a case of 'elf improvement'?" the gnome smirks, trying to keep it light
"Give your wife a hello for me, Variel. She's always been one of my nicest customers," Xanxan smiles.
"Give me the right material, and making veils will be no trouble. Actually, the drapes might do...should I get my sewing kit?" While he chatters, Xanxan looks over each chest carefully. Then puts a piece of cloth over his face, and continues the job Beck wants him to do
Should he find a trap, he motions the others back, and goes to work trying to dismantle them.
