Xanxan Gimblewabe was one of four brothers, each named Xanxan Gimblewabe. If they'd been anyone but gnomes, folks would have found that confusing. They had a grand ole time being rascals and trouble makers for a bit. Still, each driven by their own needs, the brothers soon left their home and found new ones.

So it was THIS Xanxan took up the life of a tailor in the town of Hereldan. While a newcomer there by gnomish standards, he was soon considered a citizen by shorter lived races after the first decade or so. His services were good enough to attract notice from the few travelers that came by.

One such woman came in, demanding only the best, and she also insisted that she was a waist size much smaller than she really was. While Xanxan tried to be polite, his efforts to show her more suitable fits offended her greatly, and her true nature was revealed.

The woman was a witch, a magic user who gained her power through a dark pact. And she attempted a hex upon Xanxan that should have ruined him for life if not taken his life. Perhaps it was his innocent heart, but more likely dumb luck, that he managed to avoid the curse and slay the witch in question. Unknown to him, he's been somewhat protected from witchcraft ever since.

Xanxan has made many friends in town, having designed wedding gowns for young brides, scarves for sweet old ladies, and fine cloaks for young men who wanted to be dashing for their important birthdays as they left family to make their own way. While as mercurial as any gnome, he does look out for said friends, indeed, some of the local authorities think he's actually robbed from folks who 'messed' with them, but they've never been able to prove it. Money does pop up for the poor families in town at the oddest times though.
