The troll does need to move to attack (which is why it only got one attack instead of three). However, you are correct that the pit requires a Reflex save, which I forgot, and for that, I apologize. I also forgot that Gate has Reach and CB (bad GM, bad!). Troll Reflex save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 So the troll makes its Reflex save, but Gate should have an AoO. Go ahead and take that, and I will rewrite the move. I have added numbers to the trolls, so that might help in keeping things straight. Even if you moved to your maximum extent, the troll could still reach you (it has a move of 30, and 10-foot reach). Does that make more sense? I want to be fair, especially under the circumstances.

I am making my bi-annual trek to Disney World starting November 29 and going through December 8. If I am in your game, please bot me as needed. If you are in my game, sit tight, and we'll pick up on my return. I should be able to post pretty regularly right up until leaving, however.

I'm going to be on short notice until Monday. I have a con this weekend (CONTRAflow in New Orleans) and I'm prepping for it now. So if I am holding things up, please go ahead and bot me, and I'll be back in action next week, though I will try to check in as often as possible. If you are in the area or attending, I'm running three Savage Worlds scenarios: a science-fiction romp titled Moon at the Edge of Oblivion, a weird west session called Night of the Grizz, and a sneak peek at the upcoming Deadlands: Dark Ages called Sins of the Father.

Apologies, all. My depression has flared up, and I got behind. I will try to update tomorrow.

Sorry, time got away from me, and I didn't realize how long it had been since I posted. I've been working on cleaning out the storage room to transform it into an office, and it contains about five years' worth of boxes (not to mention all my RPG stuff). Troll 1 finally climbs free of the pit and stands up (invoking attacks of opportunity from everyone, if desired). Troll 2 continues to be munched by the Gate, and the trollhound cowers within the pit. Dylan is up! STATUS

Greetings, all. The group has come into need of a cleric to keep them hale and hearty during their adventures. If anyone is interested, the character need not necessarily be a cleric but should have healing spells. I'll give it until after the weekend for applications. Let's say Monday at noon, Central time. The character should be 10th level and keep in mind that this is a pirate adventure. Any alignment except CE is fair game (because I believe that, played properly, CE does not fit in with a group). Use 25-point buy for stats. You will be a crewman who has been promoted to an officer's position.

Thanks for being so understanding, folks. And thank you, Rigel, for the words of encouragement. Just so you guys know, it was never about ensuring the Kennedy assassination happened. I did run an adventure like that one time where the characters had to make the decision whether to let him live or ensure that he was assassinated and it was not very well received. Rather, the little boy that you saw playing with the truck was the son of J. D. Tippit, the patrolman murdered by Oswald later that day. Inspired by his father's memory, his son would grow up to be a major figure in American politics. It was their plan to abduct the boy and remove him from the timeline, which would cause chaos further down the line. By the way, as may be obvious, I have never been to Dallas. I was relying strictly on what little information about the city that was given in reports of the incident.

I want to apologize to all of you. I have been negligent and not all of it has a reasonable explanation. My life has become a little more hectic lately and my depression has kept me away from making posts recently, but those are excuses and you folks deserve better. As much as I have enjoyed playing with you, I must call this one. I have lost momentum (through no fault of yours) and have quite forgotten where I was headed with it. I was stalling in hopes of regaining interest, but it just isn't there. I'm sorry to have let you all down and I hope that it will not color your opinion of me unfavorably. I'll leave this up for a few days and then shut the game down. Again, I am very sorry. I appreciate the time and effort that you all put into the game and I am sorry for not reciprocating. I wish you all good gaming on the boards.

For that, I am sorry."

Outside the alley, people are hurrying by on their way to wherever taking no notice of the glowing portal that swiftly fades behind you. Kythea looks the same to all of you and she swiftly assures you, "My illusory appearance is psionic in nature. I can control who sees it, but it has no effect on machines. I'll need to avoid cameras." She picks up a nearby discarded newspaper, the Dallas Morning News, November 20, 1963.

I can't find any rules that state that a 1 is a failure, so we can assume that you can succeed automatically in this case. Even if I did dictate a 1 as a failure, the worst that could happen is you make no progress, not a fall. So you're good so long as you aren't trying something tricky like an accelerated climb or catching a falling companion. Even if you wanted to double your climb speed (adds +5 to the DC), the worst thing that could happen is you fail to make progress on that turn.

The aftermath is soon cleaned up (as much as it can be) and the remainder of the convention goes without a hitch. Apparently, in one of her books, Gemstone had written about Frost, Cheshire, and Ivy and they each took exception to what had been said about them and wanted revenge. As soon as word of this gets out, Gemstone is besieged with fans vying to get their books signed. The heroes are also hounded by autograph seekers and those wanting selfies with them. The next few days are mercifully quiet, a welcome change from the chaos of the convention. But quiet is boring, and so you are almost grateful when a call comes in. It seems that a young woman is in the middle of downtown, asking for help, and she is requesting you by name! On arrival, you find an attractive redhead woman about 25 years of age looking very upset and talking to the local police. She seems relieved when she sees you approaching and calls out to you. "Over here! I must speak with you!"
