aced on the first 8 roll so added a 3rd. probably a wound or 2 on Herc since he was already shaken by a 12. Not moving exactly so just a normal strike again, at least till we get a few more shooters tangled up.

Rashomon is up

DaRules say you can spend a Bennie to become un-Shaken at any time, even if it's not your Turn. I should have had Herc roll as soon as he became Shaken, didn't think ahead.... Doing so now, not that it's going to help, you've inflicted 2 Wounds.

Hellion thrusts her blade all the way thru Herc's torso, killing him.

Two of the gang members drop their weapons, turn tail, and run. What do those of you who haven't acted yet do about them?

P.S. - Hellion, thanks for the "aced on the first 8 roll so added a 3rd" note, your rolls had me confused for a minute.

Hearing Hellion’s call to arms, Vee Six nearly knocks Fortune over rushing into battle. Quickly surveying the battlefield, he sees Hellion already fighting the leader. He would liked that opportunity, but he knows well enough to not get into the middle of a duel. Instead he chooses the next largest thug and with a glare of menace, runs right towards him, staff powering up. Instead of hitting him with it, Six knows they want to keep a few of them alive, so he leaps up and plants a foot directly into the man’s chest.

Oh drat, since they started shooting, I figured y'all would be hitting to kill (ALL - please see my comment HERE).

My personal Notice is like d4, I just didn't see Hellion saying she was doing non-lethal damage.
Ret-con time...

The flat of Hellion's blade hits Herc upside the head, and he drops to the ground.

None of the other gangers run away, at least from that.

However, Rashomon's bullet spray does spook them, and (from the rolls above) two of them run away.

VeeSix moves towards one of the remaining gangers, and punches him in the abdomen, and with an audible "whoosh" as the wind is knocked out of him, the guy goes down.

Everyone's acted this Round, but it's near the end of my on-the-computer time today, so I'll post what the remaining gangers do tomorrow, and roll a new initiative for the next Round.

Just curious if Fortune's spell to stun the leader worked? It won't change anything, but I'd like to know. Also, Fortune has 5 bennies at the start of this round, having used one for her spell.

Fortune laughs at how fast the leader hit the ground. Then as two of the gang flee, she says in her best Monty Python voice, "They've buggered off. They've scarpered." Then she continues, singing, "When danger reared it's ugly head, they bravely turned their tails and fled."

Hellion smiles smugly as Hercules goes down, "Poor shame, you're better equipped but no better in a fight." She then readies to pounce on the fleeing gangers, "Always more fun when they run!"

Then like a dart she's gone in a flash next to the furthest fleeing goon with a smile that really doesn't look right on a supposed 'hero'.

During her leap she flips her weapon around to bring the pommel of her up towards the gut of the ganger hoping to knock the fight out of him.

The last ganger, who's running away, doesn't even see Hellion coming, and drops when she lands on him.

The "3d8" notation confused me at first, but when I saw your note the last time, and that one of the first two was an 8, I figured it out. Making a separate roll is clearer, but I'm ok with your method. Maybe you could add an "(Ace)" or "+Ace" notation in the "[dice=" header just to remind me?
Huh - I never thought about it, but yeah, if you roll a 2d8 and the first one Aces, then *technically* the second d8 should be the re-roll. But I'm ok with everyone rolling a 2d8 (or whatever), and if either one of them Aces, either making it a 3d8 or making a separate d8 roll. That's the way I've been doing it myself for years.

Angel's ganger attacks her again :

Fighting: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

And hits, doing

Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (6) + (5) + (3) = 14

Which doesn't do any damage.

Focus: 1d10 ⇒ 3
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Spell Details:
Spending a Benny (now has 4) to cast super sorcery spell.
Power Entangle (3 PP) + Strong (2 PP) for total of 5 PP.
Resist Roll Athletics, target 5.
Effect If the attacker wins, the victim is Entangled. If the attacker wins with a raise, the victim is Bound. The bonds are Hardness 8 12, and a Bound or Entangled victim may attempt to break free (at -2) as usual on his next turn. The extra hardness and -2 penalty are from the Strong modifier.
Rules for breaking free Escaping a web, net, or the entangle power is a Strength −2 roll or Athletics roll (victim’s choice) minus
any penalties noted for the entanglement. The strong modifier adds -2 penalty to these rolls. This is an action. With success,
an Entangled hero is free of one particular entanglement or grappler. A Bound character improves to Entangled with a success; with
a raise, he’s free.

Fortune strolls over as the others are tying people with zip ties and removing weapons and other stuff. Once the leader is tied, she sits crosslegged next to him and says, "Imma gonna to a little light reading."

She sorts through her Tarot deck and draws out the queen of swords, which she uses as a focus aid. She sets her phone to make a voice recording and then once in the guy's mind, she dictates relevant findings so she has a good record of what she learns. Then she rests a hand on his temple and concentrates, attempting a deep dive mind read. This is using her own powers, not super sorcery. It takes 10 minutes.

Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 6

When the target is unconscious, success acts as a raise and a raise generally gleans everything the psychic wants to know. Fortune wants to know any secret hiding places, bank accounts, and any other valuable items possessed (and where they are kept), as well as what is known about the source of the shipment of weapons and any V'Sori contacts.

Boy, you don't ask for much, do you? ;)

I'm not going to go into the gritty details, but Fortune finds everything she wants.

The source of the shipment was an import-export business in China. The gang doesn't directly deal with V'Sori, but with their human representatives here on Star City.

What does everyone want to do with that information?

"We should let the boss know we're done here. He can decide how to get the police involved. I'm not sure we should let ourselves be identified as supers directly to the police. Hopefully, getting the leader arrested will put the fear of the big dogs in the rest of the gang and they'll vamoose or get real jobs and leave the locals alone."

If the police force is competent, then we can just pass the information about the connection to the V'Sori on to the either a tip line or our employer to take further action. Doesn't seem to require a team of supers to shut down that particular bit of human scum.

As for the remainder of the gang, after their leader and several other members are arrested, hopefully they'll either settle down and behave or move elsewhere, making the neighborhood safer. In which case, it seems out job is done and we are ready for a new assignment.

Any caches of weapons and/or contraband can likewise be collected by us or the locations passed on to the police via our boss or a tip line.

She wonders about the situation for a bit more looking to Rashomon, "Could you disassemble one of their blasters in a pinch to not be a danger? We could leave one disassembled and maybe a note to tell the cops the rest are going to a safer place for disposal." Hellion gives a shrug not knowing if that's being too thorough or not, she wasn't very good in her teamleadership 'classes' back at the Facility.

Don't wanna get too hung up on it, but they should have something tieing then to the crime while we take the majority to get it to Meros. Good to move forward otherwise myself

Meros replies "You can leave them with their gear. I have an arrangement with the police, they'll send any high-tech stuff to one of my facilities, where it will be broken down into parts and used to make useful, non-harmful high-tech equipment, which everyone so badly needs."

He walked. He walked several blocks, which was something he became more and more used to after the attack. Fly somewhere, land out of sight, put on a trench coat, act like you were normal. It sucked. When his parents trained him, they never conceived of this. That ended. Ended quite some time ago.

Quite some time ago for someone who just turned 20; maybe for much older people it seemed like a shorter time. Not for Sentry. For Sentry, it felt like he had lived without his parents a whole lifetime. Warden & Zephyr symbolized iconic heroism, not simply for the pursuit of justice, but also for the pursuit of legacy, for having had a son; for actually having created a succession that the whole world kept its eye on at one point. Until the V’s vaporized them.

So he walked. He landed several blocks from where Meros told him to meet the heroes. There hadn’t seemed to be a lot of activity when he scouted from the sky, and when he focused, he didn’t seem to hear anything either; all of which could mean the team was on the assignment they’d been given. It would probably be just as well to case the place, see if it had a doorbell, or if maybe he was supposed to knock on a window or something.

What he found looked like an old school intercom, functioned like a comm panel, and blended in so well only someone like himself would have found it: ”Hey, uh, my name is Sentry. I’m here about the fish. The dolphins. They fly by night … “ Hopefully that did the trick. His instructions didn’t say to act or sound like a total gooner, so deviating from the vintage vid format seemed okay. Taking a deep breath and intoning “the password I was given is …” would be way over the top and way too Downton Abbey. No sense having everyone think he was lame right at the get go.

The female voice crackles out of the speaker, "They all got shot down by the penguins, without mercy, I might add."

Then a click is heard at a door which leads to an apparently deserted and gutted shop. A door opens and a teenager girl peeks around the corner and gestures Sentry to follow her. She leads him through a brief maze of halls, saying, "I'm Fortune Brav0. Nice ta have someone closer to my age in the group."

Eventually, they reach an area where several other adults are doing various things. There are two women and two men. "Hey, all!" Fortune calls out. "This is our noob. Name's Sentry." She lets the others introduce themselves. She lays down a plank (i.e. skateboard) and shifts about, staying mostly in the same place but turning this way and that.

She appears to be around 14 or 15, with dark hair, a few tats, and grungy clothes. On her belt is a largish leather pouch that appears to hold something the size of an old-fashioned paperback book. Her only other piece of hardware is a small dagger. She has a wiry frame. She is not what most people imagine when they think of a super. Looks can be deceiving, of course.

Don't read the background spoiler on Fortune's profile. It needs revising. I'm new enough to the group that I'm not familiar with the physical layout of the base, so my description may be inaccurate of how one enters the base.

Don't worry about the base description. There wasn't an intercom on the door until Sentry wrote it in... :)

Angel comes forward to greet the newcomer. "I'm Angel," she says sweetly. Angel stands about 5 foot, 6 inches tall and weighs about 130 lbs. She looks to be about 25 years old, with jet-black hair and blue eyes. She wears street clothing rather than a costume; a Star Wars t-shirt, jeans, and sensible sneakers.

Six looks up at Sentry as he walks. ”Dolphins, penguins.. definitely an Atlantean thing.”, he mutters, more to himself than anyone in particular. He then stands up from admiring another piece of V’Sori hardware from his collection, attempting to see if it will work on his armor. He is almost as tall as he is wide. He is the physical embodiment of health and looks as if he can tear the doors off an armored car. He holds out a hand to Sentry. ”VeeSix, or just Six to most everyone. Welcome to the icehouse, Penguin.”

For the briefest of moments, Setry's eyes flash. He shakes off what looks like confusion, holds out his hand to VeeSix and says, "I'm not sure I even know what a penguin IS; but I was home schooled, so there's a lot I don't know about this world. Pleasure to meet you Mr. Six, Ms Angel."

Rashomon pushes past the newcomer and the group of welcomers with a mobile toolbox, as usual, dressed in mechanic's coveralls, which are in turn, covered with engine grease.

He offers the stranger a quick informal bow by way of a nod of the head, ""I am Rashomon, pleased to make your acquaintance"

Rashomon is a small statured asian man, a hair over five feet tall, and looks closer to 60 than the prime age you'd expect of most heroes.

A red skinned woman in a tank top rolls out from under the van that can be seen just through a door on the other side of the room. "Rashomon you find those parts?"

She notices the new guy and gives a casual wave, "Yo new guy they'll get you all situated feel free to snag one of the free rooms!"

"Show me your super powers and I'll show you mine," Fortune says, with a hint of a smirk.

"I would so totally love to ... but I'd don't know if your base has healthcare, and it would be a shame to damage you when we've only just met."

The young man clearly smiles at his own joke, and looks back over his should to wink at Fortune as he walks a little further into the impressive space.

"To be fair though, I also come with a bunch of "son of" coverage back in the day, so the easy to find stuff is, well, easy to find. "The Son of Warden & Zephyr inherits power of flight!" "A bullet bounces off of The Son of Warden & Zephyr!" "X-Ray Vision!?!? The Son of Warden & Zephyr out-powers his parents!" At one point, it was a little much to be honest. So yeah, you first."

A shadow passes over Fortune's long, thin face. "Least ya knew your parents. My dad was dead time I was born. I inherited my mother's magic deck of cards after she was killed in the V'Sorrys ambush. No headlines for me."

"We had a spare on the shelf, but it was the wrong model for this vehicle. I've taken it to the auto parts depot to exchange it for the correct one. In the meantime, I brought the degreaser and the valve sealant. I should be back with the part shortly; the clerk is in the back of the store fetching it now."

Listening to Sentry and Fortune talk, "Ah, so you are a Legacy being are you? I look forward to hearing more about you."
