The cyclopes don't stand a chance. They are handily cut down by the captain and first mate before they are even fully awake. Before you can go further, a noise from the door draws your attention. Standing there is a member of your crew. "Captain," she reports breathlessly, "I bring word from the ship. We were sighted by a passing vessel, and they turned to attack us, but I rallied the crew and repelled the attackers, sir." This is the intro for our new/old player. It was a good way to introduce her and give Chumtooth an excuse to promote her to an officer.

Judah quietly creeps up the stairs to the southeast. Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31 At the top, he finds a space that would give cover from attacks from below. In the center of the room is a pile of large, pointed stones. The room is otherwise empty. The northeast gatehouse proves similarly empty except for the stones, but as he creeps up the stairs to the southwest, he finds a massive troll standing behind a telescope that is focused on the manor house to the north. So engrossed is he in his watchfulness that he does not notice Judah. There are no rocks piled here, but the troll wears a bandolier of mummified hands, and several needles pierce his flesh. Perception: 1d20 + 13 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 13 - 5 = 14

Not yet. We're having it next weekend, but thank you all the same! Well wishes are appreciated. Looking forward to it with a bit of trepidation. In addition to Mark, our Media Guest of Honor is Drew Breedlove, Author Guest of Honor is Wesley Chu, and Artist Guest of Honor is Vernon Smith (who illustrates the Lower Decks comics)!

Good luck to you, Fortune, and I was very sorry to hear about the loss of your pet, Hellion. Truly, they are a part of our families, and they take a piece of us with them when they go.

Lapyd, who was one of our members early on, has requested to rejoin under a different character. I do not have an issue with this, and they have said that they will build something to support the party. If no one has any objections, I will go ahead and tell them to build a character.

The cyclopes are indeed still flat-footed. Chumtooth and Faengrim both slay a giant apiece before the massive humanoids have time to react. Waiting for Riori, Rogar, and Dantes.
Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles
Almost as one, the group reacts to the alarm, slashing, hurling, and casting. Rogar's bomb goes off first, leaving the cyclops blinded and hurt. Riori casts prayer as Chumtooth hurls his harpoon, spearing the nearest cyclops and killing it almost instantly. Faengrim finishes the other with a series of fast blows. Everyone is up. You have one more round before they can retaliate. STATUS

Just to let everyone know, I am two weeks out from the convention I help manage (my wife is the director, and I run the gaming room), and things are getting down the wire. If things get slow, please be assured that I am still here and the game will continue.

Sorry to be unclear. Everyone is up! You have two full rounds before the others are roused enough to react.

Pressing forward, the group pushes on. Having explored as far as the courtyard permits to the north, the party turns its attention to the west and a large building, supported by three broad columns (G14). Two sets of double doors are closed, but present little barrier to your group. Beyond the double doors of this wide portico lies a huge chamber, only weakly illuminated by giant lamps suspended overhead. Very large sleeping pallets cover most of the floor space, and two more sets of double doors lead north and south. Four cyclopes are asleep on the pallets, but your attention is drawn by the two that are awake and watching the door! They move to attack, while calling out an alarm to wake their fellows! INITIATIVE

I'm here, just distracted. The convention that my wife directs (and I manage the game room) is coming up the first weekend in March, and it's taking up a lot of my time right now, but I will try to check in at least once a week.

So, what next? Four spiral staircases are going up, or an inviting set of double doors that lead out to a bridge...
Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles
Dantes gives careful consideration to the architecture. "This is Azlant work, not Ghol-Gan," he notes. The building proves to be empty, so the group moves on. The party tries the double doors (leading to G20), finding them locked, and no noise can be heard beyond, so they move to the next building (G11). They find the double doors unlocked and a great room beyond, filled with debris and damaged furniture, all sized for giants. As they look around, Chumtooth notices something glinting on the floor. It is a gold coin, but not like any you have ever seen. Dantes considers the coin for a moment. "A coin from the Jistikan Empire, if I'm not mistaken. A nice find, captain, it would be worth something to a collector." Dantes Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33

I am alright, just swamped. We have a local convention coming up in March, and my wife is the Director, and I am the Gaming Director. Since she is blind, I am her secretary, handling emails and coordinating with guests, vendors, etc. Until March 9, my time will be limited, but I will do my best to stay on target here.

Switching targets to the trollhound, Dylan and his girlfriend bring the second trollhound down, though it is already starting to regenerate. With both of the other trolls trapped or buried, it will be simple enough to take out the remaining opponents and put them to the torch with the fire elemental, so... Combat Over! You stand amid the ruins of the battle, the smell of burning trollflesh thick in the air. The goblins have fled to who knows where, and you are, for the moment, alone.
Maps: Car. Crown || Skull & Shackles
A search of the building offers little of interest except the garden. This is probably where the cyclopes grow their food. Moving on, the party crosses to building G13. The architecture of this building is markedly different from that of others in the valley—it appears to have been built for human-sized occupants.

"Two of you are down. Surrender and you'll be given a place in the crew. Keep fighting and die today," Faengrim snarls. The giants merely roar in response. The ranger takes a 5-foot step to close with the nearest giant, and his greatsword bites deeply into its flesh, bringing it to the ground, dead. Riori's attack wounds the remaining giant, and Dantes adds to its misery, but it is the captain who brings it down. The last cyclops hits the floor, and all is quiet again. Comabt over! A search of the bodies reveals that they had little beyond their armor and weapons. Moving on, you proceed through the north door and move to G12. A large brass door provides access to this ruined hall, though an additional hole gapes in the northeast wall. Inside, much of the roof has long since collapsed, and a garden of vegetation has taken root. STATUS

Dylan attacks his foe, but his attack is less effective than he had hoped, and only succeeds in scratching the beast. Troll number 2 awakens, but finds itself still trapped by the Gate. Judah turns his elemental loose on the trolls, moving so as to evade possible attacks and get into position to help Lorant, who continues to bleed. The trollhound tries to gnaw Dylan, but succeeds only in grabbing a mouthful of clothing. Troll number 3 lashes out at Dylan and the phantom (bite for the phantom, claws for Dylan). Both prove too well-protected for the troll to manage a hit. With a wicked crackling laugh, the elemental attacks Troll 1, but misses.
