Hmmm. Good question. Let's make initiative rolls separate from the initiative order. If Gate takes it, it can act first.

Judah fires at the newcomer, inflicting light damage. Lorant's strikes against the newly awakened troll follow this. The first one misses, but the other connects, and the troll goes limp again. The trollhound in the pit bays and scrambles at the sides of the pit but is unable to escape. The other trollhound, however, bursts from around the corner, charging at Dylan! It misses, but the other troll also steps up behind it and swings at Dylan (Reach 10). This attack also misses. Troll 1, now free of the pit, concentrates on Lorant. The dhampir is hit three times and goes down! Dylan is up! STATUS

Riori tries her starknife again, but this time the blade goes wide. Chumtooth hurls his harpoon, striking #2 square in the chest. The weapon does not stick, but it has done its work. Gargoyle 2 plunges to the ground dead. With a growl, Faengrim turns his attentions on the remaining gargoyle. It turns to flee. Dantes and Rogar are up, and Faengrim may take an AoO! STATUS

Sorry. It's been a busy two weeks. My wife's birthday was yesterday, and we had a big party this past weekend. Add to that things that needed doing around the house before that, and it adds up to time lost. Rogar's bolt strikes home, but the gargoyle plucks the bolt from its forehead and glares at the dwarf. Dantes casts mirror image and instantly, four dwarves stand in a group, each mimicking the actions of the others. Faengrim cuts deeply into the body of Gargoyle 5, causing it to plummet from the sky and hit the ground, dead. Without pausing, he moves to the next nearest opponent, number 2. Gargoyle 6 targets Rogar in retaliation for the dwarf's attack on its person, but the arrows fail to get past the dwarf's defenses. I'm going to be on short notice until Monday. I have a con this weekend (CONTRAflow in New Orleans) and I'm prepping for it now. So if I am holding things up, please go ahead and bot me, and I'll be back in action next week, though I will try to check in as often as possible. If you are in the area or attending, I'm running three Savage Worlds scenarios: a science-fiction romp titled Moon at the Edge of Oblivion, a weird west session called Night of the Grizz, and a sneak peek at the upcoming Deadlands: Dark Ages called Sins of the Father.

I've been packratting since 1983. Some of my stuff dates back to 1974 (my "white box" edition). During the 2nd edition, I collected everything, and during the heady days of the d20 boom, I was a freelance reviewer and received a lot of review copies for free. And that's just the D&D/d20 stuff. Add in my Savage Worlds collection, things I have kickstartered, my other RPGS, and having just about every module TSR ever produced, and you run short of shelf space very quickly. Though, to be fair, my GURPS books take up quite a bit of room, as well.

Good idea. I'll keep you moving until something interesting happens. Moving to the next room (the one to the northwest). Two doors enter this vaulted chamber, one to the north and another to the southwest. Frescoes of cyclopes are etched in the polished walls to the southeast where a natural stone tunnel leads deeper into the mountain. Proceeding north, you pass into an open-air rotunda capped by a small dome that overlooks the valley and ruined streets here, connecting to a short rectangular hall where exits lead north, south, and east. A collection of clay tablets, each marked with strange runes, lies neatly stacked in the northeast corner of the hall. Dantes takes a cursory look at the tablets, which are written in the pictographic language of the cyclopes. They seem to be reports of some sort, but he estimates that it would take several hours to go through them in their entirety. An investigation of the room to the north reveals nothing of interest, so you backtrack to the rotunda and proceed up the staircase to the north. The staircase goes up 25 feet to a terrace, which offers a commanding view of the ruined streets and buildings below. Several statues gaze outward from its wall. To the northeast and southeast, a giant cavern opens into the mountainside where two tunnels lie choked with rubble. The statues depict ugly humanoids with bows aimed outward into the valley. Suddenly, they begin to move! One of them targets Faengrim with its bow, loosing two arrows in rapid succession at the mate! Its aim is particularly sharp (Deadly Aim), but the first mate is quicker and avoids both arrows! Rogar, Dantes, and Faemgrim are up! The gargoyles are currently about 15 feet above the floor.
