![]() I specified the trait name but did not give ideas of what to give said trait as a bonus....Thoughts possibly...
Healing spells receive a +1 to their caster level would be the other off the top of my head. But if the GM has a better idea I'm more then willing to run with their thoughts cause so far I'm just going with it as a flavor trait that gives no bonus. ![]()

With the war going on, legend spread up from battlefield to battlefield. Soldiers returning home to spend one last night with their family, only for their bodies to have been found on the battlefield dead for days longer then the last sighting of the person. Healers showing up and helping to tend to the wounded only to be found out they have died the day before on the battlefield. More and more of these stories keep cropping up throughout the war and though the war finished, still the legend grows to provide comfort and closure to the families or lovers of those who had gone missing in battle. Jynn is the changeling behind the legend. Growing up at the bedside of a sick mother, he spent most of his early life at the healer's clinic. He saw what the world had to offer and the grim reality of what could happen in life...but he also saw the miracles that could happen and what just one more day with someone could do for other people. His curiosity pulled at him and began impersonating people's relatives often in the clinic. Sometimes it was to ease the heart of the patient but most of the time it was so he could learn. Learn the ways of a healer first hand. He stole books to help him learn more and when his mother had passed and his reason for staying had left with her, he began to roam. The war had it's victims and he did what he could to help them, be it to pretend to be a soldier coming home to his family for one last night or slipping into the camp and healing others while impersonating a Military Healer. He was not infallible, he got caught once or twice in his life but with a bit of magic and with the kindness he had shown he always managed to make an escape before he could be imprisoned for his 'con'. Appearance:
Jynn tends to rarely stay as his own personal self. He varies from day to day and situation to situation, not shying away from being elderly, youthful, female, male, other...whatever it took to do what he could to ease the pain of others. That said, his true form he has shown to only a few. He had seen the way it unnerved people and it was hard to relax around others unless he was disguised. The few times he is, his skin is much like most of his race pale almost to the point of translucent and very lacking in features. His hair a long main of platinum, though he is only average in height and build. His typical disguise is of one of his childhood friends from his youth. Young, well fit. Black hair, a little on the shaggy side with a beard to match. Fair complexion and rather tall, just a little over six feet tall. Though when he goes to purchase anything or to perform at a tavern he prefers the lithe features of a dainty fiery redheaded young lady with a modest figure and a soft voice that beckons to all. When he is traveling he is typically wearing the attire of one of the poor soldiers that he had impersonated over the years, counting on the kindness of strangers to not look to closely out of respect and bandits to not target him out of fear of not being an easy mark. Personality:
He is extremely empathetic but at the same time very naive. He can't have a good time if someone else around him is upset or in their sorrows. He will do almost anything to help another person but balks at the idea fighting. He does most everything he can to avoid fighting and will very rarely engage in combat unless he knows it's unavoidable and even then he's unlikely to act quickly. Because of his empathetic nature, he tends to avoid interacting with anyone if there is a funeral around or if there is a solemn holiday. But he is the first in line, and possible the second, and maybe the last in line to jump on any holiday that comes with a festival or celebration. NPCs:
Male Halfling Dathamir: One of the first to catch him in the act. He is a military physician that noticed his deception but instead of ousting him or running him off, he taught him military code and conduct so that he could better personify in the future. Jynn sends him letters from time to time and even goes to visit his outpost now that the war is over though he does his best not to let him know it's actually him in disguise for the first few days. Female Human Angelica: He once spend an evening disguised as her lover who had gone off to war and been killed in one of the earlier battles. He never got caught but you could say in a manner it was love at first sight. The picture he had found on the man was of a rather attractive woman and her personality could only expand upon her outer beauty. When the war was starting to see it's end, he found himself in her town again and again and balked up the courage to show her the real him once she had shown interest in him in disguise. He's never told her that he was the person who came to give her one last night with her beloved and it still eats him up inside but there are so few that changelings feel they can every truly trust and she was that for him. This is what I've got so far. I didn't see if there was a Pathfinder converted version of the Changeling race based out of Eberron. (Hope so at least so the morphability is a lot better then Pathfinder's version of Changelings) Edit: Current build is based off Pathfinder, I have now seen the possible Pathfinder Conversion for the Eberron fluff. I'm always confused when I see anything that gives just a flat +2 bonus to one that isn't a human/half human. Basically the difference ends up on my character build of having an 8 wis or a 9 wis stats wise. And loss of 1 freebie natural armor. So really the Eberron is better ^^. Feedback is appreciated on this character idea. (This one is a fair bit of a twisted character in a manner as he is doing the things he does for the greater good...but it's also very wrong) ![]()
![]() Hmmm....I do enjoy a good spoon....and I have that wonderful new book that can make weapons (Weapon Master's Handbook. It's really lovely, I've tested about 14 of the current weapons and they all fit so the weapons don't end up broken and you can make some pretty cool things that fit your character to a T) so I might just make a bard who wields his harp as a shortbow, or a bard who actually beats people up with his banjo....if that's allowed? ![]()
![]() Gothca, let me know on that I was assuming there might be a bit more variance on the whole enemy scale other then primarily Humanoid. Hmm Hmm. Hmmmmmmm... I don't recall to my knowledge any Barbarian tribes being known to eat the heart of their enemy kind of thing in Eberron but then again I don't recall really any of the various realms/editions every really delving into that manner at all perhaps just not choosing to go into detail on account of how some people may feel about the aspect and or just trying to get GMs as much creative license as possible. If it is not do-able I can of course come up with another. It was just an idea that I had to kick around that is uncommon and would provide for a very different roleplay challenge. Edit: PS...I would try to limit it's usage and flavor it as a type of tribal tradition/religious experience akin to the Iroquois, Nootka, or the Anasazi Tribes...I would say the Aztecs but few warriors ate hearts, they were mostly sacrificed to the Sun God. ![]()
![]() I really enjoyed the flavor of Eberron a while back and would be quite happy to reread some of the material and the like to get back into the swing of things. That said forgive me if this was all made abundantly clear elsewhere and I'm just blind and didn't see such things answered...Shifters are they based on This site or are they using the primer from paizo Blood of the Moon? I wouldn't mind making one of them that is a Razorclaw if it's the first with Child of the Pits alternative Trait. Or perhaps a Were-croc if it's from the Blood of the Moon primer. I have an idea for a Flesh-Eater Barbarian that I think would be fun. A Shifter child that had been captured in his youth alive from his tribe and used by the bad guys of the Last War as entertainment forcing him to fight against all manner of beast for their entertainment. He would have been conscripted when the good guys of the Last War destroyed the encampment and went on to become a War Hero in his own right trying to 'earn' his freedom as it were. Does this sound interesting? While he wouldn't be a cannible per say, he knows what it's like to starve and would have had to eat said flesh at the hands of the evil forces before for their sick pleasure/amusement and has learned that even in such a twisted place he can learn from and harness power. The archetype comes from the Occult Adventures and can be found here Flesh Eater if you'd like to take a peak. It's a character I've toyed with the idea of playing many a time but the campaigns I've thrown him in all seem to peter out before he is made true. Original thought was that of a Nagaji (This was of course before this particular archetype was around) ![]()
![]() Ugh, my brain is right killing me at the moment and I'm hitting writers block pretty heavy. I'll probably just go ahead and recycle this alias and try to come up with a good backstory. Looking at doing a regular Tiefling Ranger (Trapper, Wild Hunter). I'll try to write up the whole profile tomorrow. Main points are... 14 Str, 17 Dex, 14 Con, 14 Int, 14 Wis, 5 Cha. So I won't be much of a talker, but I'll be able to help out a bit with traps later levels and taking the group as my animal companion instead of an actual companion. (Got some terrible hella looking scars and such O.o) ![]()
![]() Hmm...so If I am seeing right....we have a buffer/spell slinger?, and two front liners yes? I'm not fully digging being a healer (Done a lot of it at table) but if you don't want to Ace, I can come up with something for that role...otherwise I think I'm looking at a ranger to bring in some ranged support to the group...lest you think there might be a better slotting spot that isn't filled. ![]()
![]() I'm not part of an established group but would be quite thrilled to join a homebrew campaign if possible. I've been a fan of some of the pbp but would enjoy seeing what playing alongside an established group would be like in it. I'm a part of several at table groups so I know how to work well with others. ![]()
![]() Forgive me, it's taken me a bit longer with the holiday and all that rot to put my character all together and get it posted. So here is my submission, hopefully it is at least interesting. Stat Block:

Aezaran was born due to a contract that his grandfather had had with a demon. Tis unfortunately the way of things that tends to happen with his kinds creation. His grandfather had wanted power and fame and he had gotten it, bringing the family up to the rank of nobility within his lifetime. His son was the one that paid the price, as the deal with the Succubus was to take his son as her slave upon his manhood. Of course, with every contract with a demon there was a few unmentioned consequences of the contract. One was Aezaran being brought into the world to be raised. His grandfather of course was not amused, hardly interested in being a parent to such spawn he gave him to the maid to raise as if he was her own. The maid did a great job, but Aezaran was more of a handful than the typical pit born. His teeth came in quickly, long and sharp giving the boy a a very demonic and frightening look and gave the poor woman a slew of injuries over the years. His skin was black as night, covered in thick scales to absorbed the heat well and his tail was almost as dexterous as his hands making for more limbs to pay attention to then most were used to. He grew up being an outcast as was typical for almost all of his kind. He was constantly being abused and segregated by others throughout his childhood, all forty years of it. It was a hard life, one that caused him to grow up to be a rather good liar. He was always hiding the truth of what was happening to him, not out of fear that others might jump at the chance to join in but out of spite. He held in his anger towards the others, waiting for the day he could exact some kind of vengeance upon them or their family. As he grew into manhood, his rage encompassed him and he used that rage to fuel his ability to destroy those who got in his way. But he had a dream, despite his terrible childhood he actually loved his country. Most would consider it a land of oppression and abuse of the system, but he saw how well the country prospered and how vengeance could be found upon those that broke the law quite well, even if you had to work the system a little to make it happen. It was these reasons why he had begun work to try and become one of the illustrious Hellknights that protect the country and met out the vengeance upon those that so desperately deserved it. Personality:
Quick to anger, and eager to met out vengeance when needed he is a man of action but also knows that sometimes a bit of subterfuge is needed to get the job done. He is the kind of person that if you are on his good side, he will do almost anything to protect you. But get on his bad side or on the wrong side of the Cheliax laws then he will do whatever it takes to bring you in...try to resist and he won't hesitate to take you down instead. He enjoys a good ale and a warm bed when it can be had but knows how to rough it when needed, music is his preferred way to relax alongside a warm body and a nice tankard of ale.
Appearance:
He is a beast of a man, weighing in over two hundred and twenty five pounds. His scales are thick as leather and black as coal. He stands over most people, a little over six feet tall. His hair is stark white, coming to rest about halfway down his shoulder blades. His face kept clean, a rather hard feat given the scales but he managed with a bit of alcohol and a spark. His eyes were odd colored one of them an icy blue, the other making the fire in his heart. He wore dark brown leathers to complement his own color, over it he wore a thick blackened leather coat to help hide his tail from prying eyes. He preferred to stay unarmed, it tended to keep others less uneasy around him. A good way to get the drop on his opponents once he flew into a rage and his nails grew into brutal talons useful for ripping through the armor and flesh of others.
Tie ins: There are some pretty easy tie ins for others if they like. As a Tiefling, friends are few and far between and would be held in high regard. If someone were to overlook his older age and experience and of course his heritage to help him out or defend him should a crowd start to turn violent, then he would feel indebted to them and be happy to help them out, especially in the name of Cheliax. Noble ties, someone knows his grandfather. And even worse, someone may have figured out how he came to be. While he may not be ashamed of his heritage or his name, he knows how bad it would be for his family that remains in good standing if the information came out. He would be fine with working for another to keep this secret, so long as he was treated with respect and paid fairly. So long as he felt he was breaking no laws, he would be more then happy to do whatever they asked. Forgive me for only giving two tie ends at the moment, but I want to make sure the application gets in before the deadline (I hope I did at least). If you feel you have an idea of how to tie in, I would be more then happy to work with another player to make it fit. ![]()
![]() Leaning on a bit of a the idea of a Demon spawn Blood Conduit Bloodrager (Abyssal for the bloodline of course). Probably gonna lean between LN, N, or NE. I could technically be LE but I don't see it. The idea being that he is an aspiring Hellknight, a patriot through and through as he sees the way Cheliax works and believes it right. He takes what the people dish out at him and uses the anger and the hate towards them as a conduit to defend and strengthen himself for the better of the country. Whenever he needs that burst of strength he taps into the memories of those who had looked down on him, spit on him, beat him...and uses those to pacify the enemies of his country till they see that he is worthy of respect. ![]()
Male Kyton-Spawn Tiefling Fighter/Rogue
![]() He stepped back out of the fog double timing it, "Come on boys, those young'uns are fleet of foot and I intend to beat em there." he said knowing that everyone else will easily out pace him if he does run. Running so 60ft of movement unless not allowed for some reason. I assume everyone but Mohs would easily keep up just double moving. ![]()
![]() Background:
With a long life comes a lot of patience and boredom. Jhaartael Waelvor was not like most Elves, while most spent their lives devoted to the study of well pretty much anything you might find on a dusty shelf of a human library, he chose to study stories and people. Now there are of course some Elves who specialize history of the local lands or the like but he didn't choose to study people long dead per say, though the occasional tale or the like of some person's heroics does peak his interest. No he studied the way people acted, the way they could portray themselves to sway others without resulting to violence. He took up story-telling, comedy, and even dance. He enjoyed it so much he even took to the human lands to study at their theaters and found a kindred spirit in a Goddess by the name of Shelyn. The more he learned the more he wanted to learn, languages were a thing that most elves gained a knack for and even he found them interesting. It was during a dance performance that sparked the interests of nobles around Restov. The fluidity of his movement sparked a member of the Aldori swordlords to take interest in him. He spoke to the man over a period of time and found the idea intriguing, bending swordplay and dance together into a rather deadly and lovely display of swordsmanship. He knew that he couldn't perfect the art just by simply taking sword in hand and twirling about, no if he were to learn it proper he would need to step into the fray and get combat experience. Though he would admit that he will forever prefer to stay back and take care of things from a distance. Still, he relished the idea of giving it a go should someone get close enough. He looked in on things to see if there might be a way to sign up for the militia or something of the like and found that a charter was in place to take back the Stolen Lands. He took up a bit of food, his new sword and a bow and took to riding the next caravan down to Oleg's for the chance of meeting up with the charter's leader and hopefully finding himself a spot on the team. Curiosity, an eagerness for something new, and the lifelong desire to learn something new sent him on his way into the dangers that were ever present. But perhaps first a nap. He had spent perhaps too long in a cushy and relaxing lifestyle, one that had changed his sleeping habits for the worst. Elves were known for not being able to be put to sleep easy and for needing very little of it. Perhaps it was all the day dreaming that he did that soon turned those quiet meditations and the like to actual deep sleeping and dreaming the long night through. He just couldn't shake himself awake without getting a good ten to twelve hours some days.
Personality: He is a driven individual, insanely curious, and a bit flamboyant. He prefers to be the life of the party, the center of the spotlight but knows have to share the stage. When he is not eating, sharing stories, engaged in some kind of performance, or traveling he is found sleeping or relaxing as best he can. ![]()

![]() Gold: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) = 13 Alittle above average for a bloodrager but fine enough. I do have a question. I generally don't do heavily optimized characters, will that count against me in selection process? I am currently thinking of making a Human Bloody Knuckled Rowdy Bloodrager: Str 16, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 12, Wis 8, Cha 16....looking at trying to slate down between Destined and Aberrant for the bloodline. Destined of course works really well with the setting...though Aberrant gives you free reach. ![]()

Background: Reejan was like most any kid, a bit of a scamp and a skirter of rules. His curiosity about everything got him in plenty of trouble. He grew up in a privileged life as a child but it only lasted as long as his parents were alive. His parents had make a deal with the Plane of Air to grant them their wish. Their lives were cut short if they were provided with a child, however as many Jinn do they tend to give their petitioners what the want but with a twist. Reejan was not a normal human and his father...was not his true father. It caused a bit of resentment but all the same the couple got what they wanted and tried to enjoy a happy life with what little time they had left. At the age of twenty Reejan was taught enough to take care of himself, an amateur bowman at best and a semi decent cook. With no family willing to take him in even with his last name of Orlovsky he was put out in the streets as the town reclaimed his home. What he was taught saved his life, he could catch and kill what he needed to eat and forage the rest when he couldn't. He spent the next twenty some odd years that way, occasionally nicking from the village that cast him out for books to read and the occasional bread here and there. He had finally at least grown enough to be considered an adult, but perhaps it was the air about him that caused people to feel that more so then his own stature. He had spent so long caring for himself that he grew out of his antics and began to appreciate the laws that nature itself provided. He realized that the town he had lived in was no longer his home and that he would always hold a grudge so it was that moved on from the woods surrounding that town and instead moved to the borders of the Stolen Lands where he began to try and carve himself out a new life. Reejan knew one thing he had was time, time was his ally thanks to his heritage and he knew how to keep a low profile from his family. He mostly lived out of a tent and had made acquaintances with the locals making himself known a bit in Restov. He met a gentleman who worked at the apothecary and worked out a deal with him. He would help provide the herbs and various materials needed for the craft and in exchange Reejan was given a place to live and a way to begin again. It was good to be on good terms with a town then to be considered some poor soul living on the outskirts as an outcast. But soon much like all else was concerned, time eventually forced him to have to move on. After having spent so many years helping the Alchemist with his craft and learning how to be a part of society again, the poor old man passed away softly into the night in his sleep. Reejan collected his things from the store and gave his blessings and shared in the sorrow with the old man's family. He was taken in by the church for a time, they appreciated his fondness of the natural world and taught him the ways of Erastil. He found a kindred spirit in a manner in the god and his ways, when the offer the swordlord's presented came up he eagerly took it. He would be proud to be a part of the foundation of a society, bringing validation to his linage and also to show the world that you can co-exist with nature without destroying entirely in the process. Personality: Reejan would be best described as a free spirit but one filled with kindness and a hatred to see someone suffering. He was careful person, always doing his best not to take more from nature and those he helped then they could afford, though he was by no means a pushover. He stayed out of most of the political business, not one to speak his mind but one who preferred to carefully watch and offer others all the facts as bare as can be. Better to let others decide and offer his advice as best he could with as much information on the subject as possible. Appearance: Reejan is a spirtely young man, lithe and defined. His work keeping his lean, though his own heritage helped a bit with that. Typically he wore longer attire, covering most of his skin, choosing to hide his heritage as much as possible. The swirling blue marks on his face, he laughed off and did his best to explain they were a gift from a wandering Varisian that he had helped out as thanks for his services. His hair was a stark comparison to his almost opaque white skin, looking like oil that had been simply dumped on his head and grew down to a little below the bottom of his shoulder blades. Drive: Reejan is a simple man, wanting to carve out a place for himself and live up to the family name that he was burdened with. Once that is done, make a family for himself and continue the work by protecting the realm he helped create and if necessary protecting the world around the realm from his realm itself. Long term character idea: Is going to be like most Rangers, a bowman first and foremost. Eventually he will help support the group through the use of an Animal Companion for flanking help and to provide a bit of extra damage. Why should the swordlords trust you with this important job?
Do you have a criminal background? Is there anything we should know now that might cause later in your political future if it were to get out to the public? No, no criminal background. Though it may be said that if there are Xenophobes out there that find out his heritage then perhaps there might be trouble in that manner. Or even his own village may come back to haunt him for his childish behavior when he was indeed a child.
Long story short: Scout/Wilderness Guide and your hand dandy Arrow for hire. ![]()
![]() I believe I have done a decent job, so I shall throw this into the mix. I didn't do much to give a backstory for the animal companion but I decided to go with the idea of befriending it as a fellow captive as he had too much time on his hands sitting there waiting for rescue or death. Forgive me, I did not give much of a party role. A bit of healing, a bit of knowledge, and scouting. ![]()
![]() Made a tiny error when making character. Cha needs to be set at 10 instead of 14 and the corresponding skills drop by two points. Mildly screwed up and thought it was 20 point instead of 16 But tis fine, I only opted that up originally to give a bit more to Handle animal and Diplo...but a person striving hard to be nice and coming off ruff sometimes is completely ok and in the character. ![]()
![]() Right right, I get you but once you get to like 9th level who wants to deal with the Kobold uprising when you have peons to take care of it is more the kind of thing I mean. It especially would be quite an insulting idea for the Monarchy and Heroes to go do something their private army could take of. I never see any adventure truly make use of the 50 some odd peons below you with decent representation. ![]()
![]() Hmm...I too enjoyed some of the Garrison type stuff....what do you mean exactly by Garrison missions. Are you referring to sending out minions of the Realm that we create to fulfill stuff for the kingdom? Bwahaha...we do think alike but in different ways, I chose the light for pack and the Heavy for my mount. (Mostly cause if I end up in battle on it, I'd love it to be harder to hit.) ![]()
![]() Gotta think ahead definitely when you are taking Strength as your foil. (To be fair, it wasn't a hard choice for me when I rarely have a character with Strength about 12) But I will admit that I did a small bit of this campaign once before (Literally about 1/2 the first book) so I will do my best to limit my personal knowledge (it's honestly probably all gone, bout two years ago was when I got the chance to) and the one thing I remember is the inordinate amount of fricking travel. But with that comes plenty of down time too ![]()
![]() Just as a preliminary toss into the barrel. I present the fluff to go with the crunch from early. Let me know if I have anything you would wish me to improve or go into further detail of. I hope it is at least a good read and a good concept. Background: Background: Reejan was like most any kid, a bit of a scamp and a skirter of rules. He would help provide the herbs and various materials needed for the craft and in exchange Reejan was to learn the craft itself. It was good to be on good terms with a town then to be considered some poor soul living on the outskirts as an outcast. He learned at his master's side for many years, soon being allowed to even live in the back store room instead of out in the woods. Over the years, time took it's toll once again on poor Reejan and his best friend and mentor in life passed. He stepped up and became the town's Alchemist trying to do some good by offering his services to those who asked for them even if they couldn't afford it sometimes by paying for it with his own profits. Something that was kept just a bit above that which he was needed to keep the building afloat. But when the tensions between Rostland and Issia came to a head and the Rosland's offered up the idea of charters to explore and tame the Stolen Lands he saw what he thought was his calling. With his knowledge of the natural world as a hunter and even as a denizen of it, he thought he would be one of the best people to carve out such a place without harming the world around them at the same time. Long term character idea: Infuse is of course a must as the first discovery so that he can help offer others help through a small avenue of buff spells and the occasional healing spell. Using the Summons to help offer others relief/flanking partners. At the point of gaining the animal companion, he will be looking for something that some point will become his faithful mount as well as his defender in battle. ![]()
![]() You know I gotta say, started making the character and went "Holy hell that's a lot of skill points." at 13 (including background), then I slotted them all in and I was feeling right about it and then realized I didn't have Diplomacy....Tried to find stuff to remove and couldn't so I had to go with the extra skill point per level. Just...saddening that I managed to have an issue of....nope need more skill points at that high fricking number. |
