Beltzer moves up and gets ready to make another cloud. He'll wait until everyone has fired over him to hit whichever targets they need to and then he'll produce an obscuring mist to protect everyone else from the bombs while the frontliners get ready to corner the alchemist.

Summary Round 5

"What was that? Are more coming?" says Lys as she hears the hurumph. "Wulfrum is on fire again!" she shouts to the front liners as she fires a bolt at the remaining wolf. The bolt jabs at the wolf's side as Lys reaches to grab her next magazine.
Red wolf takes 4+26=30 damage

Wulfrum walks into the fog cloud, the bombs he was getting hit with was taking its toll on him and he was bloody and burned. He doused himself again with water to put out the fire before he readied himself to charge out of the fog and try to kill that snide little bomber.

Arlan advances toward the bomber, spitting a red glob on the ground as he ascends toward his foe's position. "Throw another one of them vials, see what happens.”

Nerak reloads and fires as he steps closer towards his enemies.
Red wolf takes 6+30=36 damage

Varin (bot) steps up and coves the poor wolf’s head in.
MWK Large Earthbreaker: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
damage to wolf: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) + 6 = 23
Red wolf takes 23+36=59 damage and is very dead.

Beltzer moves up and gets ready to make another cloud. He'll wait until everyone has fired over him to hit whichever targets they need to and then he'll produce an obscuring mist to protect everyone else from the bombs while the frontliners get ready to corner the alchemist.

When Arlan moves up, his sunrod illuminates your bomber. He is a 6-1/2 feet tall and gangly half-orc, weighing only 200 pounds. The dark blond locks on his head suggest Ulfen descent. An intricate tattoo covers his face in thousands of hair-fine lines of ink and carefully incised scars. He wears studded leather armor and is armed with a sheathed falchion and a slung light crossbow. Many alchemical bombs are strapped to his weapon's belt. He smiles and throws a bomb at Varin, who is able to avoid catching on fire. The explosion catches Arlan in the blast. Then, he expeditiously retreats.
alchemical bomb 3 on Varin: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Concealment: 1 misses: 1d5 ⇒ 2
fire damage to Varin: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 6) + 3 = 15
Varin Reflex DC 15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Arlan Reflex DC 15: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Arlan takes 5 fire damage

Any square with bones in it on the map is difficult terrain, i.e. no 5-ft stepping. For Humans, the area between Arlan’s yellow and green aura are dim light. For those with low-light, the area beyond the green aura is dim light. Dim light = 20% concealment (low always misses).

If he is moving that fast I doubt we'd be able to catch him. I'd advise waiting and repositioning till he comes back into range. Use the clouds as cover they last a good while. Beltzer says going full dense in the cloud.

Since he has what I assume is expeditious retreat running and we didn't see any sparkly runes while the wolves were growling I assume he pre buffed so he's got that for probably 3min at least. 70ft move speed. We ain't catching him without bombs going into our face. Hopefully he comes back to throw another one then we pounce on him.

"I suppose you know the layout of the area's we have not cleared or explored and that they are safe correct. Nothing waiting to ambush a group of bowmen and spellcasters."

He says dryly, it seems he did not have the instinct to chase an enemy with only one known escape route pass armed allies. Even if another exit existed, they could not catch him. Whatever reason the alchemist had for being here had not changed, otherwise it would not have remained here to fight a group that vastly outnumbered him. He had proven he was smart enough to retreat and restrain himself from attacking outright earlier. Rushing after such an enemy would be costly and bloody if they continued to show cunning other bloodlust.

We don't know what is between us and him, like other monsters or traps. The area is unexplored, so sending off a group made up of ranged alone would be unwise, should another giant skeleton for example appear the marshmallow brigade would get pummeled. May want a more balanced group set up, we have two spellcasters and multiple frontliners after all.

Well I'm out of combat spells for the moment and the two here last for quite a while, likely longer than the enemy's retreat spell. The only exit to the place is likely the one we came through with the rest of the city guard there so I doubt the enemy would leave that way. Brief Summary Round 8

Beltzer makes it up to the far corner of the cavern where he first saw the alchemist. He finds the walls and floor disturbed. It appears the bomber was unsuccessfully looking for something.

The two wizards wait for the heavily armored dwarf to take the lead before following.
Wulfrum, you need a straight line to run x3

The two front-liners hustle after the bomber into another large cavern with large webs covering the walls, which seem to be moving. Scurrying around the cavern floor are four dog-sized avians looking much like six-legged storks. Their feathers are unkempt and greasy, and their beaks are razor-sharp. They appear to have been aggitated by the expeditiously fleet bomber who is no where to be seen.

The two wizards hustle to follow the running Wulfrum, who get ambushed again by the bomber. Another explosion hits the dwarf square and starts him on fire again. Nerak cannot avoid getting singed by the explosion. None of them know where the bomb came from.
The bomber is beyond your 60-ft darkvision. He is using Nerak's light to target the heaviest armored. Remember the area to your PCs right is higher ground above the skeleton hill giants.
bomb 4 on Wulfrum: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 2 = 18
fire damage to Wulfrum: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 5) + 3 = 14
catch on fire Wulfrum Reflex DC 15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
avoid splash fire Nerak Reflex DC 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Wulfrum is on fire, and Nerak takes 5 fire damage

Slightly burnt and in a foul mood, he was going to make that orc piss regret his actions.

"Go forth Lorn, expose that scum."

Lorn flies forward high to extend the light over the source.

Unless he took massive range penalties the light should fall on him. Will make another post for Nerak's actions after that. Painted a dot for Lorn sense I don't have a token for him.

Couldn't find your dot. I put a bird token on the map for you. Light is 30-ft, right?

Think so. Funny I see the dot I made from this morning just fine, move the bird on top of it none the less. ;)

Lorn does not fly over and reveal the bomber. Unfortunately, that leaves Nerak completely in the dark.

I put two auras on Lorn. Yellow for normal vision, and green for the extent of dim light for Nerak

Oh come now, you didn't think Nerak is going to let him go that easy.

Casting a minor spell, four globes of light appear in the only other direction the bomber could enter the cavern from.

I used purple dots this time, hopefully they show up.

Arlan brings his knee up into the creature's body, trying to drive it away with force and fury.

Nerak's Dancing Lights reveal the half-orc bomber behind some hill giant bones at the top the ramp into the tomb. He smiles.

Lys takes a step back. "I think we'll have a strong word with that bomber after we're done with those!", pressing the trigger twice at a wounded one.

Attack, Rapid Fire: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 2 = 18
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Attack, Rapid Fire: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

The first one grazes the stork lightly, but as she pulls the trigger a second time, a loud crunching sound is heard. Shit., she says, opening the crossbow in half, and beginning to talk, seemingly to her crossbow. "Come on, you hellspawn! I know I've been giving you crap all night, but that's what friends do! Don't give up on me! I'll get you that mammoth fat oil next time we're in town. With the rosy scent!", as she pulls out the broken bolt, reloading the crossbow with a clack. "There we go. See! We work together!"

Basically, targeting the closest wounded one. And no, crossbows don't jam on a 1, but it seemed fitting.

I think both Arlan and Varin start grappled. Arlan can flurry and still hit with the grapple penalties. Varin cannot attack with a two-handed weapon while grappled. His d20 roll won't hit with a gauntlet or escape vs. CMD. Cheers.
