Ya, after reading threads for an hour, I would really like a FAQ ruling on this.

Actually while crudely put I think he has a point. They keep making errata mistakes. Not asking for feedback. So why not have 3pp do it right.

/facepalm

Clearly my sarcasm font is broken.

That's a ridiculous idea Sebastian.

Question,

For the devout healer maximize healing ability, does it require the plus three level like the feat does? If so, I don't see when I would ever use it. My 10th level cleric/healer can cast a 4th level cure critical for 4d8 +15 which is much better than the maximized cure light...especially with the paragon healer ability making the ccw being a minimum of 31 ho healed.

Thanks for the help!

I really wish we could get an official FAQ on this. Our group is debating the issue right now...

Just curious if anybody knows the best way to get the maps from the adventure paths into roll20. I have the pdf's and the interactive maps. If I cut from the PDF's, the room numbers and the secret doors are on the map. I don't seem to be able to cut from the interactive maps. Thanks for any help anybody can offer and sorry if this is the wrong forum.

Game Space Beta Tester

If testing is going on now, perhaps I missed an invite? I was at paizocon 2012. Also, our plan was to use it with a projector as we all sit around the same table. Hopefully this will work.

Later in the AP there is another anagram puzzle. Did you create an alternate for that anagram as well?

I am ok with the anagram puzzles, but this box is too good to not use!

Thank you!

For the pandora box, it states the trap is triggered regardless of the method used to open it. But, the trap also only requires a dc 15 perception. Isnt this trap always going to be spotted and disabled? Or is it that it is spotted, yet not disabled by most because of the high DD of 25?

Thanks for any help.

Game Space Beta Tester

Greatly looking forward to the beta! I really like your model of free play, with a pay system for maps and tokens. Cant wait to hear more.

Well, PC is dead. No raise dead possible. Greater Shadows are a b$*#& that way.

Ditto.

I think if you really think about it, and look at your questions, and your
'only one failed save - honest, we're being hard done by' approach, you
kinda know the answer to your question...

I have a question of my own - when you 'make' that one save - do you
complain that 'honestly, this is not fair on the DM & the world he's
trying to create for us'...

You misunderstand. We can only fail a stability check on a ROLL of a one. I love the campaign and dont mean to sound like I am complaining. I am fine with the character dying as well. I am merely pointing out the discrepancy between a near auto success if a NPC is randomly rolled and a near auto-failure if a PC is rolled.

Dale McCoy Jr wrote:
The pc is 10th level so the assassin should be 11th level. Then it should be a one on one combat between the two. I'd establish what everyone else is doing at that moment so that way the character can run for help. The assassination attempt may come down to how well the pc can attract other party help. Happened in my campaign. The wizard was targetted, he teleported out. The assassin was killed because the fighter was alerted and helped.

Thank you for the quick answer!! By the way, your product is amazing!!!

My group is playing Kingmaker and using the Book of the River Nations expanded rules. Sebastian is excited to kill one of our characters and I need your help!

One of the kingdom events is Assassination Attempt. It is worded as follows. One of your leaders (determined randomly) is the target of an assassination attempt. If the target is a PC, play out the attempt, using an assassin of a CR equal to the targeted PC’s level + 1. If the target is an NPC, make a Stability check to negate the attempt. If the leader is assassinated, the nation gains 1d6 Unrest points and immediately suffers vacancy penalties until the role is filled during a subsequent Improvement phase.

We randomly rolled and got a PC. (10th level) We succeed on 95% of stability rolls (only fail on one), yet having a PC rolled by these rules means that we have a near 100% chance for failure given that it would be a CR 11 character.

Do you think this implies one on one combat? Do you think it should be equivalent level +1 like CR 7 instead? (A single 10th level character is ECL 6.

Or, does Sebastian just get to kill one of our PC's? (Which he is known for and is currently salivating and licking his lips so feverishly that his keyboard at work has shorted out due to the drooling.)

Andrew,

Where can I get paid to donate plasma?

Thanks,

Multiple pheresis sessions. An hour or two hooked up to a machine that filters out the plasma and returns the red blood cells to you.

AFAIK, they don't pay for it around here. The idea skeeves me out a bit, but I guess they've got good tests for keeping dangerous stuff out of the blood supply these days.

Thats why I asked WHERE they do it. When I give plasma they dont give me any money in San Diego. So, I am wondering where they do.

Blood banks pay, why are not all of the poor tapped daily?

Because it would kill them.

Is that a problem for you?

But they can donate weekly with no ill effect, so if they must "do or starve" if offered money why do they not all donate and end the blood shortage?

Weekly? What?! In the Uk, you're not allowed to give blood for four MONTHS after your last donation. You can't give weekly. This igores, of course, any concerns about problems caused by the apparent widespread drug use of 'the poor'you keep moaning about.

Besides that, do you have any idea how much of a facist prick you sound like? "I'm paying for you, boy, so I own you." Why don't you go the whole hog and reintroduce slavery for welfare claimants. It will be pretty much the same thing as what you're proposing and at least tou'll be being honest about it. Seriously, when Monty Burns looks at the plan and says "Steady on, this goes a bit far." you've got a serious problem.

Pay attention, i have said nor implied any such thing. I suggested making birth control free and even offering cash incentive to be sterile. Someone claim that offering cash forces them to do it so i asked why they don't all sell blood if they must do anything for money as the poster suggested. Not once did i suggest forcing anyone anything.

But you are right on one thing they DO owe this nation and the tax payers.

And here in the US you can make $200 a month for blood donations in my area. And the poor here are mostly simple dope heads. Pot isn't a big issue with donating and surprise, if they want the money, they CAN go without.

And the current system might as well slave the workers to pay for the welfare/criminal class.

Where in the US can I get $200 for my blood?

Hi obsession is actually Dominion. If you want to hurt his cold, frozen heart, tell him how awful it is. (Or, if you want to have a forever friend, tell him you want to play it with him tonight.)

Sadly, that box is not filled with See's candy. It is filled with Sebastian's obsession...any guesses?

Thanks!

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. It just seems that the create reliquary feat in Ultimate Magic is pretty useless since most of the time you need a divine focus you also need a material component.

So, somatic is pretty clear. You need a hand free.

But, what about material and focus components?

Can a wizard with a wand in his hand, cast a spell that has somatic and material components?

Can a cleric with a heavy shield cast a spell with somatic and divine focus component?

Can a cleric with a heavy shield and a sword cast a spell that just has a divine focus component?

While you're at it, you should multi-class into every PC class. That way, we can have fun grinding the game to a halt every time we need to figure out all the little rules subsystems for each class and how they interact with each other.

Also, I'm going to burn down your house next time I come over.

You are full of good ideas!! Its important that we undersand the rules and what better way than to practice all of them each round. You are so smart. Its probably why they gave you that internet law degree so quickly.

Oh, and please make sure to do a thorough job of the burning so that I can rebuild from the ground up with the insurance money.

I don't mean to be a party pooper or maybe we're just joking, but isn't this the kind of thing that goes against what the society stands for?

I mean yeah there are some really annoying players out there but killing a player's character just because they're annoying is kinda shaky logic. And if it's their first Con I wouldn't suggest it. I know the first local Con I went to for PFS the first event I played in had a TPK due to a poor DM choice.

It's too late. I've sworn a blood oath against my players and must take all possible steps to destroy their characters. If I don't follow through with it, I will be...I dunno, killed by Voldemort or something. I forget what happens. Maybe I just wander the afterlife until my son kills them. Or something.

The point is, that vengeance upon my enemies is justified!

Thanks everybody!

Can a ranger use a wand that is a second level ranger spell if he can currently only cast first level spells? What if he doesn't have a high enough wisdom to cast second level spells?

I've read under use magic device where it says it normally needs to be on their spell list, but my DM thinks they need to be able to currently cast it as well and I'm looking for clarification.

Thanks!

Our party tends to do this because our GM tends to turn any escaped foe into an NPC who inevitably returns to strike us when we're weakest; ie, the lone orc we let escape that was previously guarding the dungeon entrance is always waiting with 40 of his friends outside right after we're all tired and haggard from cutting down the BBEG. When that becomes the formula, it becomes our policy to take no prisoners (which would be kinda meta if new chars to our party weren't soon on board after revenge ambush #47).

THIS

Is what Sebastian loves to do and a major reason why we let nothing run away!!!

As we talk to people about joining our kingdom, specifically people to fill a role, I think we would recruit a priest first. I think all 4 of us (Thad, Delia, Gavin, Bonfo) should be making sense motive rolls as we interview each candidate. Below are Delia and Gavin's roles for the priest.

Delia Sense Motive 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

Gavin Sense Motive 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

NOT A WOLF

Wait, I'm confused. You are rewarding people for reading spoilers that they shouldn't?

ya it needs the brackets.

I have the brackets in I think...

Its hard to do brackets on my phone, but you need the word dice in brackets before, and /dice in brackets after.

so, 14 on knowledge local

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 on knowledge nature

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Finally, that was way easier on the computer.

As a player in Sebastians group for the last 12 years, I definitely agree with his statement on the issue. I play in 3 groups, and I got ALL of my groups to switch to 4E. After playing for over a year, all of my groups found 4E lacking and we all switched to Pathfinder. All of the DMs, however, all state that 4E helped them streamline their DMing and they use many tehcniques gained from 4E.

However, one still has to remember that the Heal skill can help the players a lot. If your party cleric has been maxing out her heal skill (and you might need a new cleric if she isn't!); then she can sub her heal skill check for your daily poison save. Not to mention that Lesser Restoration is a 2nd level spell and can keep up with the damage in most cases.

I'm running Savage Tide with one of my groups (3.5), and 4 of the 6 members got infected with Savage Fever in The Bullywug Gambit. Let me tell you, those players were nervous. The cleric had to keep lesser restoration in all her non-domain 2nd level slots, and she still couldn't keep up with the ability score damage. A DM can really only enjoy the effects of stat damaging effects (poison, disease, shadows, wraiths, et al) for maybe the first 4-5 levels of character advancement. After that, high cleric heal checks and spells make stat damage an annoyance at best.

The heal skill doesn't replace the save anymore. It adds a +4 to the saving throw.

I agree with Mr. Shiny. Go with a Droid.

GOW was great. Left4dead is very fun as well for coop.

I woke up this morning, watched the video, and went on my merry way. I chueckled at the kobolds, but wasn't affected by it other than that. I definitely find more offensive content on the tv and I still watch that.

In my mind, an active perception check should never be called for. The DM utilizes the passive perception and passive insight behind the screen to determine if anything is noticed. The active check is only used when the player says I want to search that area for traps or I want to check out that pile of rocks. The passive check would have already been used for traps or the rocks but perhaps the DC wasn't beaten passively. That's when an active check would come in at the request of the players.
