That's a Wrap!
154 games were reported, split almost evenly between GM Choice and First Come First Served recruitment. 60+ GMs ran the games and hundreds of players joined them. What a great turnout!

Once the last few games get reported, we will be mailing out randomly drawn prize vouchers, so make your offerings to the gods of chance, and may fortune be on your side.

We want to hear your feedback, so please fill out this feedback form. Let us know what you liked, and how we can improve in the future. This form is anonymous, but if you want us to get back to you, please let us know how (paizo forum message, discord DM, or email).

General Seating now open!

General seating is now open for all players. While there is no limit to the number of games you can sign up for, we do ask that everyone do their best not to overcommit. We also would ask that you not sign up for tons of games at the very beginning, to give everyone the chance to find a seat at a table. Sign up for a few, then wait a day or two to give others the chance.

Remember that the 1 game per character rule still applies to Play By Forum/Play by Discord games, so no signing up to play in multiple games with the same character.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (for GMs)

How do I sign up to GM?
Go to our GM Registration form. Fill out the form and choose which scenario you would like to GM. Please fill out the form for each separate scenario you wish to run.

How many games can I sign up to GM?
You may only GM one table of one special. You may sign up to GM as many other games as you choose, though we ask that you consider what you can reasonably handle while still providing a great experience for your players and completing all games within the given timeframe. Remember, life happens to the best of us, so please do not commit to maximum capacity.

If this will be your first time GMing PbP or you are still learning the ropes, we strongly recommend that you only do one game at a time. It’s more work than it looks.

What if I want to sign up to GM a Special?
If you wish to GM one of the Specials above please fill out this form. Deadline for submission is Jan 22, 2024.

    Specials GM Registration Form

In addition, we require that all those who GM a special have some prior experience with GMing Play-by-Post! GMing PBP is fun, but specials are a time-pressured environment inappropriate for learning the techniques of a new format! Instead, GM something else with us, and then apply for the next set of specials we offer.

What do you mean by scenario support?
Paizo will gift you the scenario that you wish to run — if you sign up by our deadline. Not included: APs, Adventures in hardback books (e,g.: Dark Archives, King Maker Companions, Emerald Spire, or Thornkeep.

If you need scenario support, you must register your game by February 05, 2024.

What if I want to add a game as a GM after the February 05, 2024 Scenario Support Deadline?
That’s fine, you just need to provide your own copy of the adventure.

May I add a game after March 04, 2024, the official start of PBP Outpost VII?
Yes, you may add a game after the official start of Outpost.Though you must still register your game through the GM Registration for tracking purposes as well as finish the game by the end of Outpost. The Outpost team reserves the right to rule that it is too late to begin a game for convention credit.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (for Players)

How do I sign up to play?
Once we begin to get some submitted games we will create the spreadsheet with all of the games for General Player sign-up on February 12, 2024. This spreadsheet will be posted shortly.

What are the different PBP Lodges?

    PbP Lodges

Will there be boons for Players and GMs?
We expect to be able to offer boons for PFS1, plus increased AcP for PFS2 and SFS.

Can I participate if I am new to Play-by-Post?
Certainly! Just let your GMs and Players know. They’ll be glad to help. We also have plenty of resources available to help you prepare, reach out within the appropriate lodge so we know what you need.

When will you open the seats for signup?
We will open up early signup for GMs on February 05, 2024. This is a courtesy for our GMs. GMs. Please limit yourself to 1 table of your choice and 1 Special until February 12.

General player signup will open February 12, 2024. Please only sign up for the number of games you can handle. It’s better to enjoy one or two games than to get overwhelmed. Also, please remember other people are excited to play. Even if you are a player who can handle multiple tables, please be considerate and sign up for only a few to begin and allow others time to sign up before you add more.

Wah! Why do you have so few tables of the Special? I won’t get a seat!
Don’t panic! We will be starting with only so many tables each Special. We’re doing this so that we can better respond to demand, and so that we don’t overschedule tables.

  • If the table of the tier you want is full, please add yourself to the waitlist of the special you want. Being on the waitlist is the best way to get a seat in the special. List the character you prefer to play — if we can’t fill a table at your tier, we’ll give you the option of coming in with another character.
  • We’ll fill new tables from the player waitlist.

What kind of scenarios fit the theme?
With a theme of The Allies We Made Along the Way, we are focusing on scenarios that include allies, friends and collaborators the Society meets and befriends in their adventures.

As we'll have Dr. Mono bring in his new character once you're all back at Etran's Folly, I'd like to take the opportunity for thanking him for such a great and stupendous character. I loved and worried seeing him tank and I'm also happy to see him help mold Valor into Simon.

The blood ooze's next attack was going to be Blood Siphon a Basic DC 21 Fort save that would have made you all take...

    Blood Siphon Slashing: 3d8 ⇒ (2, 3, 8) = 13

Plus it's regular attack. So I'm glad you got out of there.

I'd also like to mention that if you wish to change characters/retire them with the coming of Dr. Mono's new char, this would now be the time.

As Blake hoped, the Sculptor is dead, but we'll get to that in character. For now, it's time to level up to level 3, a bittersweet event.

Yay! My first GM Hero Point. I'm going to use it to revive Hallod during his phase 2 transformation!

To clarify, Sinan is unconscious, but not dying. The fist was rolled as a non-lethal attack. Gracie and Gamble are prone from the alpha male's Knockdown, but neither are unconscious nor dying.

Pepper saw the alpha fall and heals Sinan.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm more than fine if you waited one hour. Depends on how your companions feel. However, I will keep things moving on Monday, as it's been two or three days in real life for you guys to heal up.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Given the amount of time you've spent here, which is about 40 minutes, if I'm not mistaken, it's feasible for Pepper to have gone back out and gotten more berries. I mean, the dogs are not hostile to her and she did feed them after all. The round-trip would be about 30 minutes long. I know it feels longer as we've been here in the caves for several days in real time, but in reality you've been here for no more than 20 minutes.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

What Eric wrote is good enough for me. Simon can heal others, plus Treat Wounds is an action, not an activity, so even Fatigued's own wording would allow it either way.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm laughing so hard at how unfair your dice are. I can't believe it survived the whole round. I mean, the odds. Oh well, time for it to attack.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Oh, duh. I forgot he's a rogue with mad reflex skills. Let me fix that. Thanks.

(Simon, feeling incredibly guilty of swapping his status with his friend, swaps it back)

Pepper, while not having the secret and ancient druid weapon of scrap paper and coins, shrugs off most of the crackling electricity, given her experience using it herself, perhaps. She feels a slight tingling as the lightning traverses her lithe frame, with most of the electricity difussed and grounded. (-2 hp)

    GM Screen:
    Uncoil: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
    Uncoil Fang Dmg: 1d8 + 2 + 1d4 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (2) = 8
    Basic Reflex Blue: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
    Basic Reflex Red: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
    Basic Reflex Yellow: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Meanwhile, Valor gets ready to attack, as Sinan moves forth in front of everyone and unleashes searing fire from his hands! The large one (blue) ducks under the water, but the other two are too slow to react! (yellow and red) Flames burst out of the Dawnflower's servant and burn through their scales, the creatures hissing in pain while their rattles generate bright blue sparks in anger. (-5 hp each)

Sadly, Sinan's victory is short lived. Focused and blinded by his own fire, he doesn't see how the large blue snake uncoils, stretching its tout muscles as electricity cackling fangs bite into his leg! The pain of fangs ripping into his muscles nearly blocking out the electricity that courses through his body. (-6 hp piercing and -2 hp electricity) The rattle of the creature dulls momentarily, but begins humming almost immediately, as the smell of ozone permeates the stale air of the cavern.

Gamble, whose perhaps stentorious voice rises above the crackling and hissing, reminds you of your own experiences and inspires you just as the ulfen brings down his staff on the closest (yellow) snake, which still rattled by the flames of the Qadiran, doesn't see the staff come down straight to its head! (-6 hp)

    |----|----|----|----|

Initiative Order - The bold may act!
Round 1 - Active Conditions: Inspire Courage - 3 rounds left

    Kunsheng |
    Pepper (-2 hp)
    Blue Snake (-2hp)|
    Deerslicer
Simon | Fatigued | +2 item bonus to Fort saves vs. poison, 6 hours
    Sinan (-8 hp)|
    Gamble
    Red Snake (-6hp)
    Yellow Snake (-12hp)

(Technically yes, as Pepper has already refocused twice, so it does give you time)

Some of you head through the back, while probably others stay in the front. The ones going through the back moving as stealthily as they can, but to those in the front its obvious that some are being very conspicuous about it. Reaching the back of the house, Deerslicer, I imagine, shows you the boarded-over window. With the information provided by the goblin, you can all see it for what it is, a fake; the boards are nailed onto a hinged shutter. Deerslicer would further inform you that it's latched from the inside. Further examination reveals that there does not appear to be a keyhole of any sort, but its construction is rough. (DC 16 Thievery check (trained) or Forced Open with DC 18 Athletics check)

    GM Screen:

    Pepper Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Officer Elrekah has heard a lot of outlandish lies in her line of work and she's pretty sure the halfling is not saying the whole truth.

"See to your friends. I'm going to see to the doctor."

About 40 minutes later, "Doctor" Kline comes to. While he originally denies any accusation of any wrongdoing one glance of Orla and Hammick entering the room has him singing a different tune.

"Don't hurt me! My name is Nefaram Subeli. I-I'm a clerk at the permit office. I... I wanted the treasures, all right? I'm just tired. Why can't I have riches, too?"

As Subeli's confession continues, the guards are relieved, but officer Elrekah still insists on returning to Sothis. When the evening comes, the ten of you make your way back to civilization, another four day trip through the desert that you'd rather forget. A runner is brought to the Sandswept Halls and when Venture-Captain hears about the imposter, he is worried as well.

For now, though, you have earned a rest in the gardens of the Sandswept Halls... at least until your next adventure!

Doctor Kline, turns to Orla mid-flight, giving her a look as if she were mad...

...and the good doctor falls to the ground, crashing into some pottery and slamming his face on the ground with a sickening CRUNCH! His eyes widening in terror at how his own body betrayed him. The open door lying far away, yet so close.

(Well played. Hero Point. Kline will use his first action to Drop Prone on his turn)
