![]() Several people mention the Player's Guide, but when I click on "Learn More" for this AP I just get the page on buying the three volumes and the three Foundry modules, but not the normal landing page for an AP with the Player's Guide. Why is this AP's site different from all the others? I did finally find the PFS Sanctioning document download on the volume 1 description. Edit: Found it finally on the Player's Guide blog post, but it should be on the AP site. ![]()

Not just a few side jobs, they need to stress test the tech to make a major profit. I'll probably be eventually cherry-picking bits and pieces from all four ideas, and more. This is a good expansion on #4. "So, can living creatures survive there for long periods of time? What about foodstuffs, do they go bad? Explosives? Cargo needing extreme temperatures, like medicines? Liquids? If I put a giant fish tank in there, will I have to worry about sloshing? What do you even know about null space? Come back when you have an independently verified engineering analysis." The Ragi wrote: Eline's computer probably doesn't even have the goods: "contains schematics for the Oliphaunt, a map of the facility, and a history of the project, including the information from the training vid in area C3". I think they would need to hack the server room (impossible) or the computers on the factory floor: "a secure data module protected by a firewall (Computers DC 25 to hack) contains schematics for the Oliphaunt’s hybrid null-space cargo holds". They did try to hack the servers and failed miserably, of course, on what they thought was a very good roll, but left before triggering the trap a second time when I told them they could feel it building up a higher level of power. (I told them later what would have happened, lol!) After that they never tried to access the computers in the manufacturing space. It makes sense that detailed construction schematics would be completely isolated and offline to minimize the chance of corporate theft. All Eline has to do is run the manufacturing program again and install another null space module in a different ship. "What do you mean, the most useful thing we got was the company training video?" In the asteroid one of them made the Sense Motive check, then they got paranoid and wouldn't enter, leading to one large running battle mostly outside rather than two separate engagements. I think I'll give the drow, especially Dreminda, some generous credsticks. Seems like something they should have had, anyway. ![]()

![]() I have a great group of all first time roleplayers in their first game of any kind. They say they're enjoying the game even as some of them struggle with learning the mechanics, but I have a different issue I'm about to run into. We just finished Book 1 and during the Orbital Plate heist my players made sure to hack into Eline's computer and download all the technical data for the null-space cargo hold. When we start Book 2 in a few weeks I anticipate they're going to want to do what Sinjin said he was going to do with them: sell the technology to AbadarCorp or another customer for the promised amount of riches "beyond your wildest dreams." I imagine that the tech really would be worth a lot of credits! I'm trying to brainstorm ways to head off this massive plot hole that isn't even hinted at in passing as Book 2 starts. 1. Because they didn't make an effort to disguise themselves and they had to travel to the Orbital Plate as shareholders, security cameras caught the heist and now they're wanted fugitives with a large bounty on their heads. No reputable corporation like AbadarCorp would want to be associated with purchasing stolen tech. Tarika will have to urge them to change the name and designation of the Oliphaunt before they arrive on Absalom Station, otherwise it'll be confiscated and they'll be arrested. 2. Even if they want to find a less reputable buyer, I can rule that the data is encrypted and only Eline knows the encryption key, making the info useless until decrypted. However, getting to Eline and getting the encryption key from her is a bit outside of Book 2's plotline. 3. They're still not sure that Sinjin is behind everything and were musing aloud that maybe Deminda was acting on her own when she attacked them inside the asteroid. I can see the players wanting to contact Sinjin and try to complete the deal, and he's a good enough liar to find out what their thoughts on this are and to go along with the idea until he can double-cross them again. Ideas? I hate to keep going back to Tarika as their inside source of all useful plot railroad information. 4. I'm also thinking that most buyers will be unwilling to buy such fanciful far-fetched technology without proof of practical application and stability. Lots of folks have probably promised similar tech breakthroughs in the past and I'm going to have potential buyers unwilling to shell out the big credits up front until after the players have pulled off a few transport jobs without the ship imploding. However, this just kicks the can down the road, it doesn't really solve the problem because after the side jobs they'll just circle back to wanting to sell the tech again. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to work around the issue? I'm also in agreement with everyone's analysis of the economics of the early parts of the AP. Luckily my players are all new so they don't realize just how poor their characters are compared to where they should be. ![]()

I'll have to do more research to see if that's what I want to play. I also really LOVE the investigator class, and it wouldn't take much to persuade me to build one of those instead. Dan ![]()

I'm not really seeing any healing other than some wands or much ranged ability, but we're good on melee, stealth, and spellcasting. So, oradin healer, alchemist, or archer? ![]()

![]() You must have a physical race boon chronicle, and per other similar RSP boons like Xenophobia it must be an UNUSED race boon. This applies even if you received a race boon in the past, used it to start a character, and at some later time that race became always available. Your second question is unclear per the verbiage. I would think you could apply additional unused race boons to a character with the Xenophile boon chronicle, but some additional clarification would be helpful. ![]()

I've normally seen the OR as allowing only one roll - "Pick your best" - in order to keep things moving, but the discussion of a well-educated character who has invested ranks in many different skills has swayed me to seriously considering Wei Ji's proposal to reward them for that. For example, pick your best but your knowledge in other related areas helps you correlate the information more thoroughly. Knowledge History could be augmented with a +2 per applicable skill if you've also studied geography and nobility, and those are relevant to the skill check. Effectively, you're giving yourself Aid Another bonuses. This could apply to the "Knowledge Local or Diplomacy (gather information)" rolls. My character likes talking to people, but his preexisting knowledge of local matters can be used to fill in the gaps of what people tell him, mechanically with a +2. ![]()
![]() Some of the Season 0 scenarios have been retired and are not legal to run; they are clearly marked as such on their product pages. Everything from Season 1 on is still fully legal. For Season 0-4, separate faction missions were used for earning prestige points, but when those were discontinued the Secondary Success Conditions document was published in order to detail the primary and secondary success conditions for earning prestige points. The scenarios still have the faction missions in the PDFs, and you can hand them out for flavor if you want, but use the Secondary Success Conditions document for awarding prestige points. ![]()

![]() It's not just good form to wait until after the release date to start running Season 8 scenarios, it's mandatory. If we VOs abuse this first-time-ever advance release of scenarios before GenCon so that GMs can prep, then it probably won't happen again. :( Multi-table specials CANNOT be run as single tables. Each one starting with Year of the Shadow Lodge in Season 2, has its table requirements spelled out either in the description of the scenario or on the first page or two of text in the pdf. ![]()
![]() One thing to specifically note when getting a character raised in the middle of a scenario, regardless of location or cost. Only one permanent negative level can be removed by Restoration per week, so unless you have eight days the character will have to finish with at least one negative level in effect. I had accidentally overlooked this caveat for a long time until it was pointed out a few years ago in a "Things you may not know in Pathfinder..." thread. ![]()

Not exactly true. If one of the skills that comes with the Headband of Intellect is Linguistics, then you get the predetermined languages that are supposed to be pre-programmed into it with that skill. Assuming that your character has it custom made for him, he can determine those languages, it doesn't have to be random. You still get to learn another language for every +2 your INT goes up, so long as it isn't a temporary bonus, regardless of whether or not Linguistics is one of the skills tied to the Headband. If you have already invested max ranks into Linguistics and then get (or upgrade) a Headband to have the Linguistics skill ranks max out, I don't believe you get to then learn ANOTHER nine (in this example) languages learned! You're better served by tying skills to the Headband that you have few if any ranks invested in, to get the biggest benefit. ![]()

![]() As long as you have the physical chronicle sheet, you're OK. The game doesn't have to be reported online, although there are some advantages if it is, such as should you ever lose your character's chronicle sheets at some point in the future and you need to rebuild your record. I just checked U-Con's reporting site and The Fox is correct, VC William Jones (Xathanos) was the coordinator for the convention. He can get you added to the event reporting. ![]()

It was nice knowing you. Correction needed. Per the discussion, since your example calls it out as Season 3 then the party has the option of playing down to the 7-8 sub-tier because none of the characters are in the 10-11 sub-tier. This is an example of the fringe case in a Season 0-3 scenario. Now, if this party was playing a Season 4+ scenario, they would be forced to play up to sub-tier 10-11, but with the 4-man adjustment. That said, I would be in favor of extending the "fringe case solution" to all seasons. In Seasons 4+, that means the example 6-character party would have the option of playing down at full difficulty or playing up at the 4 man difficulty. ![]()
![]() I find the difficulty and length of a BBEG fight, especially a solo battle, swings wildly based on a single die roll - initiative. If the BBEG gets a poor initiative, they may never get to go, period. I'm not sure how to fix that, unless NPCs and monsters are allowed to Take 10 on initiative, or maybe set a special BBEG rule that the GM rolls, but anything below a 10 gets automatically bumped up to a 10? ![]()

Since no one addressed this particular corner case on page 1: In my games, if a character is in the negatives and his turn comes up, he rolls his stabilization check and then I put him in delay, albeit an involuntary one. Then when he gets healed, I let him know that he can come out of delay whenever he wants. Usually they want to go right away to avoid the "I never got to go" situation described above, although on occasion they are sitting at only a few hp and prefer to Bluff that they're still unconscious until the tactical situation becomes a little safer to act. Same goes for the enemies, of course! I don't consider this to be a PFS rule, just a Pathfinder RPG rule.
