I wanted to reach out to everyone to explain my absence and my pulling out of the game. It is not personal with any of the players or the GM, I really appreciate the chance to try but two factors have made it a less than ideal experience.

1) 2E just doesn't hit the spot I enjoy from 1E. I love the world and the stories, but I just don't seem to "love" the system.

2) Everyone in the group is great but the pace of this game is too much for me. It's great for those that can keep up and enjoy it, and I wouldn't ask you to change a thing. I just need to accept that my style doesn't seem to fit well.

As I said, I appreciate the chance and I thank you all for understanding. Enjoy, and maybe I will see some of you on another game some time.

I am fine with the rule of two as well. Personally I have always felt that the one doing the scouting ahead (or whoever serves as the vanguard) decides which direction to go. They have the best insight on it, so I will follow them regardless.

Been a busy few days for me, though not related to GenCon.

Seishine slings his pack over his shoulder as he comes down the steps.

"Headed, huh?" he ponders. "Well to fight of course! That is the purpose of the tournament, is it not?"

He approaches Cirri as she wears the necklace. "So how many feathers do we currently have?

Gladiator Lore (earn income) DC 28: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31 Second 4 hexes = 20 gold

Gladiator Lore (earn income) DC 28: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32 Third 4 hexes = 20 gold

Gladiator Lore (earn income) DC 28: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21 Fourth 4 hexes = 32 silver

A couple of issues with the original but nothing that meant much of a difference, so going to stick with the results above.

Daily Prep Details:
  • Infused Reagents 6 of 17 remaining
  • Greater Acid Flask x9
  • Greater Alchemist's Fire x6
  • Greater Bottled Lightning x3
  • Greater Frost Vial x6
  • Moderate Elixir of Health x6
  • 4th level spell Fly
  • 3rd level spell dispel magic
  • 2nd level spells dispel magic, false life x2
  • 1st level spells anticipate peril, floating disc
  • Cantrips detect magic, light
  • Cast - False Life and Longstrider (wand) prior to setting off for the day
  • These details should be reflected in the character sheet as well.
  • Rarity details:
Only thing I see as uncommon is the Ring of Wizardry, which I did not realize when I selected it originally. Other than that, for now I am going to forgo any others and will consider this for the future.

@ Doublegold, Farol, and Jeremy Packer - I really liked your submissions in the Edgewatch game I am now running, but felt strongly about either taking all three of you or none of you, at this time, to keep this game together most coherently. That said, if I may take liberties here, I will keep you each in mind in the event that game needs reinforcements, and will PM you to gauge your interest at such a time.

Completely understandable. Fresh faces are always a good thing, and one of the great things about the forums is all the various people there are on here.

With that said, welcome back. Hope it was a relaxing time. I've had a heck of a weekend with work, so it will likely be tomorrow before I fully catch up but I will try and post much more tomorrow morning.

    Using Craft to Earn Income.

    Craft (DC 30): 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (1) + 26 = 27 1 HEX
    Critical failure. YOU'RE FIRED!

Not sure if you will allow another check. I will roll anyways, and if no further rolls are allowed just ignore them.

    Craft (DC 30): 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (15) + 26 = 41 15 HEXES x 15 gold per day = 225 gold
    Critical failure to critical success.

I have updated Seishine to 12th level. Only think not updated is the results of the downtime.

@Farol - Thanks. Good to meet you as well. I look forward to playing with you. As for a character, a warpriest can be a great addition. With at least two of us having skill in medicine, plus my elixirs, I think you could focus a little more on melee then a pure healer.

@GM - Enjoy the trip. I also will be away a bit but will definitely have access this time (travel for work, so internet is a must). I will work on leveling tonight and tomorrow and post things later.

I will assume earning income with craft would work as normal. Roll once and multiply by the 16 "days"? I will post a roll as well. Thanks.

Seishine rubs the warmth back into his hands from the freezing chemicals as things begin to calm down. "Thank you the encouragement Ingdani." Seishine bows respectfully.

Turning to his new companions, he offers them help. "I am fine Miss Cirri. Perhaps I can help if other needs things. I have various healing chemicals, in addition to the more harmful ones. If I run out of chemical healing, I also have some skill in medicine. Please let me know what is needed."

Sorry for my absence guys. Thank you for the assistance as well.

No, I can't afford splash damage, sorry.

    Fair enough Max.

Team, I will be traveling this weekend. I should have access at our hotel but will be limited to my phone for access, so not use how much posting I can do. If you are waiting on me, someone may feel free to bot Seishine. Or if preferred, he can go on delay.

I added some guidelines to the bottom of his profile, but honestly I have never had to do that so not sure I provided the details you would want. I can see about adjusting it tomorrow morning before I leave. I will be returning Monday night. Enjoy the weekend, and for anyone in the US, enjoy the holiday.

    (RETIRED)

Seishine shakes his hands out, trying to return some warmth to them. "These things are mighty tough. What kind of mad men figured these made good guardians?" He pulls out two empty vials and begins quickly filling them with some chemicals from his pouches. "Cold seems to be working, so I guess we will keep that up."

    Greater Frost Vial (1st Attack): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (3) + 21 = 24 Cold Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4) = 15 plus 8 splash damage and -10 foot status penalty to Speeds
    Greater Frost Vial (1st Attack): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18 Cold Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3) = 11 plus 8 splash damage and -10 foot status penalty to Speeds

Ugh, well at least splash damage hits on a miss.

♦ Quick Alchemy (see spoiler) to create two Greater Frost Vials
♦ Throw Bomb (attack) at Black Statue (splash only effects target)
♦ Throw Bomb (attack) at Black Statue (splash only effects target)

    Quick Alchemy:
You swiftly mix up a short-lived alchemical item to use at a moment's notice. You create a single alchemical item of your advanced alchemy level or lower that's in your formula book without having to spend the normal monetary cost in alchemical reagents or needing to attempt a Crafting check. This item has the infused trait, but it remains potent only until the start of your next turn.

    (RETIRED)

Question for Max. Are you ok being caught in the splash of a frost bomb? It should only be 8 damage per attack, and I was looking to do two shots.

Seishine slides to the side and draws two more vials out. He shouts to his new companions ”Sorry for the icy shell friends.” Then he tosses the chilled vials at the prone statue.

    Greater Frost Vial (1st attack): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (8) + 22 = 30 Cold Damage: 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3, 6) + 1 = 14 plus 8 splash and -10 foot status penalty to Speeds
    Greater Frost Vial (2nd attack): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18 Cold Damage: 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2, 5) + 1 = 11 plus 8 splash and -10 foot status penalty to Speeds

Looks like one hit and one miss, though hopefully not a critical fail is he is considered flat-footed.

Actions if Max agrees to splash damage:

    Elf Step
Quick Bomber with Directional Bombs against Black Statue
Quick Bomber with Directional Bombs against Black Statue
Splash damage applies to both Max and White Statue

Actions if Max disagrees to splash damage:

    Elf Step
Quick Bomber against Black Statue, but only applying splash to target
Quick Bomber against Black Statue, but only applying splash to target

There's a saying about assumptions, right? Sorry about that.

My attack was targeting the white statue.

    Fortitude Save vs DC 29: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39

Seishine nimbly darts away from statue that gave him a wallop. ”Wow!” he exclaims as draws another vial from his pouch. ”Watch out for those punches. They aren’t playing around.” He then tosses the vial at the statue in the hope that it might fall.

    Greater Frost Vial: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (12) + 22 = 34 Cold Damage: 3d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 6) + 1 = 13 plus 8 splash and -10 foot status penalty to Speeds

Looks like 21 damage, assuming inspire courage applies to bomb damage. Plus a Critical on the save I believe.

    Elf Step x2
    Quick Bomber with Directional Bombs

    Also, updated HP and consumables.

    (RETIRED)

Seishine back peddles as the statue begins to move. ”Well that’s unexpected.” he says with a smile as he reaches into the pouch on his belt. Let’s see if it likes a bit of frost.

    Greater Frost Vial (1st ranged attack)l: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40 Cold Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5) = 11 plus 8 splash and -10 foot status penalty to Speeds
    Greater Frost Vial (2nd ranged attack)l: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26 Cold Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4) = 13 plus 8 splash and -10 foot status penalty to Speeds

Seishine throws two vials at the statue, causing them to explode in a cone of icy shards. The first is a direct hit, coating the area in ice, but the second only lands nearby adding slightly to the effect. What a nice shot!

I think that first one is a critical, so it seems my luck is turning around. 30 damage from the first one and 8 from the second.
Elf Step 10 ft to the East
Quick Bomber with Directional Bombs against White Statue
Quick Bomber with Directional Bombs against White Statue

    (RETIRED)

What the heck? I posted Initiative right after you asked for it but it didn't take. I even added myself to the map. Sorry, got caught with work today so didn't get to check until now.

    (RETIRED)

DM rainzax, not sure if the ??? in your list of what people have in their hands means you aren't sure what Seishine may be holding or if you understand he has nothing in his hands normally. Either way, Seishine will usually have empty hands so he is better prepared for alchemy things.

    (RETIRED)

Seishine shacks his head, clearing the spores and foggy thoughts from his mind.

    That was, Seishine begins. Odd?

Turning towards the people he was originally trying to save, Seishine smiles. Well, so far this jungle demands you to be on your toes. I was hoping to be more help there, but that creature's, well I guess you would say 'pollen', has most alarming effect.

Is everyone alright? I'm not much of a healer, but I think I have some elixirs that may be of some help.

Question GM, if I'm able to sucessfully counteract a poison on either Selshine or Max, would they able to take their turn to get out of range of the pollen this turn?

Next question... It seems to me Selshine might be able to be out of pollen range, move in to toss a bomb and then run out again? or is better for Max to do some range stuff in the same fashion?

Either way if Max and Selshine are done with the turn it would make more sense for Ryushi to wait for next turn to do the Neutralize Poison and this turn would just try to hit the thing.

Also Ryushi just had the one hero point right?

The issue I think is that unless the spores are moved or we are, before our turn begins, we will have to make another save or be fascinated again. Technically, unless there is something I am missing, we keep having the fascination broken every round as the creature continues to attack our allies but then our turn begins and we become fascinated again.

Unfortunately I am not able to move as a reaction. I am not sure if Max can. Maybe it would work if you readied an action to cast it on our turn so we could take our actions and move out. I could certainly stay out of the range and try to hit it with a bomb or two in this case.

    Will Save vs. DC 33: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20

    (RETIRED)

    Will Save vs. DC 33: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31

Seishine begins clapping along with the movements of the snake creature. He really seems to enjoy the show.

    (RETIRED)

    Will save vs. DC 33: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18

Seishine remains fascinated by the snake and ignores the struggles around him.

    (RETIRED)

Quick question... Does anyone have the ability to actually remove stupefy? If not, then I suspect Seishine's time in this tournament will likely not improve the group's chances.

    (RETIRED)

    Will save vs. DC 33: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

So, not sure what a SECOND crit fail will mean.

    (RETIRED)

    Will Save vs. DC 33: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24

Seishine continues to focus on the snake-like creature.

    (RETIRED)

Will save to start, as opposed to Fort I made last time. But a 1 is a 1, so I figured it wasn't really important.

    Will vs. DC 33: 1d20 + 17 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 17 + 4 = 29 including +4 from Ryushi's Blessing of Defiance.

I am going to try the hero point here. Probably best to participate in my first encounter.

    Will vs. DC 33: 1d20 + 17 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 17 + 4 = 32 including +4 from Ryushi's Blessing of Defiance.

Seishine shacks his head a little trying to clear the fog, but his focus continues to be taken by the snake among the trees.

    (RETIRED)

Well, my plan was to fire bomb the thing but karma seems to have formed another plan! Hopefully your other new friend (welcome Guillas) can pull us out of this mess.

    (RETIRED)

Seishine pauses for the briefest moment, Now what's this? he thinks to himself.

    Fortitude vs. DC 33: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (1) + 21 = 22 Critical failure!

"Keep down! It's going to b..." he shouts as he moves forward but then his eyes begin to lose focus and they glaze over. He stares blankly ahead and begins to slowly approach the snake-like creature.

Welcome to the party I guess!

    (RETIRED)

Hey folks, just wanted to pop on and say thanks. I don't want to distract from the current question from Cirri above too much, so I will post a bit more about myself and some questions a little later.

    (RETIRED)

    Perception for Initiative: 1d20 + 16 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 16 + 2 = 25

Seishine steps into the clear to investigate the shouting but is caught off guard by what he sees before him.

Wasn't exactly sure where I should put the token on the map, so if it should start somewhere else please feel free to move me. And thanks for the opportunity to play the AP.

Seishine Nomichi, presented as a potential combatant in the Ruby Phoenix Tournament.

I still have a bunch of formatting of the character sheet, but I wanted to get the meat done for you to review. I thought an alchemist with wizard dedication would fit in nicely.
