On 'The Moods of Stuinvolk': does his attitude reset to unfriendly each day, before they make the daily diplomacy check? That seems to be the implication.
Also, the scenario seems to suggest that each phase permits one influence check (with Aid Another allowed), and that a successful influence check simply earns 1 Empathy Point. However, the appendix says: Appendix 2: Influence System wrote: Each PC who successfully succeeds at a check to influence Stuinvolk Hundrakson during a social encounter improves his mood by one step (hostile to unfriendly, unfriendly to indifferent, indifferent to friendly, and friendly to helpful) while each failed attempt worsens his mood by one step. At the end of any social encounter during which Stuinvolk’s attitude is at least friendly, the party gains 1 Empathy Point This seems odd, as if the diplomacy check at the start of the day is particularly successful/unsuccessful, the single permitted influence check would almost certainly be pointless. Am I misunderstanding something here?
Sorry to bring a long-dormant thread out of hibernation, but was this ever resolved - either clarification on using a season 8 EN boon in season 9, or the release of a season 9 version?
I'm really looking forward to UK Games Expo! The latest edition of the Solstice Scar should be great fun for all.

I haven't seen it announced anywhere, but I noticed that The Story So Far has been brought up to date for the new season - thanks Paizo!
I haven't seen a formal announcement, but I happened to notice that this download has recently been updated for the new season.
GamerDJ wrote: I've been looking for this answer for a while, I see it here on the Forum and have recently heard it from others... But where can I find it written?
I'm just curious to know where this information is.
On page 7 of the season 8 Guide, the section on replaying an adventure in order to meet the minimum legal table size contains the following note:
Quote: This is the only exception to not having two copies of the same Chronicle sheet assigned to one character. (Previous Guides may have had more obvious statements, but this is the best I can find in the current one.)
That's correct. And spoiler tags are generally redundant in the GM forum.
You receive the boons, 2 prestige, and access to purchase items off the chronicle sheet. It's to give a reward to players who have played all three parts, but who don't want to fast-track their PC through the levels.
So, it's (a).
The season 8 Guide says:
Quote: a Core PC can play at a Standard Campaign event, but the PC irrevocably becomes part of to the Standard Campaign, can no longer participate in Core Campaign events, and can now select any character options permitted in the Standard campaign. That reads the way I've always understood it: it's the act of playing a standard mode game that triggers the transition. Until you hear the mission briefing of that standard campaign scenario, it's still a core campaign PC (and limited by the choices available in that campaign). If you're already 2nd level when you play your first standard mode scenario, you will not be able to rebuild using non-core options.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'delete not used tables of credits' but to close an event for reporting, go to the GM/Event Coordinator tab, click 'Edit' next to the event, click the top 'Edit' button (next to 'Description'), then tick 'Reporting is completed for this event' and click 'Save Changes'.
Lau Bannenberg wrote: However, what is really the question in this case: how much damage output does the party have? The issue is that you enter the counter-intuitive situation where doing more damage is worse for the party.
Knock the dragon down to 60 hp in round 1, take your punishment, then knock it down to negative hp in round 2: success.
Knock the dragon down to 35 hp in round 1, dragon flees: failure.
A L11 party may well have some contingency plans for trapping/finding/catching a fleeing foe, but a L7 party is a lot less likely to have such options.
Lau Bannenberg wrote: Secondary success requires killing the dragon (as per secondary success conditions document).
Does that answer your question? I suppose the question is if 'killing' really means KILLING, or just defeating. A creature that withdraws when still on 30+ hp, and can effectively do so with no hope of a 7th-level party pursuing (400 ft. flying double move into total darkness) seems like a bit of a cheap shot, that's all.
As far as I know you can only ever get 5 chronicles from a normal scenario (excluding evergreens etc.):
- Play in standard PFS
- GM in standard PFS
- Play in core mode
- GM in core mode
- GM star/survey boon/free RPG day boon replay (to replicate any one of the four above)
There are a number of things on the chronicle sheet for this scenario that depend on 'killing' the dragon.
If the party defeats the dragon (i.e. takes it to low hp, causing it to withdraw 400 ft. per round into the darkness, never to return) is that enough to earn any/all of the rewards, or is the dragon's death essential?
Please can I cancel my subscription to the Pathfinder Campaign Setting line (before the Ironfang Invasion Poster Map Folio order goes through)?
First of all, I wanted to say thanks for the additional functionality of being able to list scenarios by date on the public PFS event page. I used to manually do it via the description, but this looks much better.
The main issue I have seen is that the listed games disappear too soon, i.e. at the start of the day.
If I go into the edit screen for my event (at 10:45 local time, 09:45 UTC), I see:
Quote: Today evening
#3-06: Song of the Sea Witch (RPG)
#52: The City of Strangers—Part II: The Twofold Demise (RPG)
Mon, Jun 26, 2017 evening
#4: The Frozen Fingers of Midnight (RPG)
#8-21—Champion's Chalice, Part 2: Agents of the Eye (RPG)
but on the event page itself, I see:
Quote: Mon, Jun 26, 2017 evening
#4: The Frozen Fingers of Midnight (RPG)
#8-21—Champion's Chalice, Part 2: Agents of the Eye (RPG)
Please can scheduled sessions stay visible until the end of the relevant day?

I GMed this last night, and I crossed out the items on the chronicle that weren't found. If I was playing, I'd view a GM crossing out missed items as a mark of diligence, rather than him being mean.
My organised play event is set up with a scheduled 'day' every Monday, and if I go into the event editing page, that's exactly what I see:
Quote: Day # 89 Mon, May 1, 2017 afternoon evening
Day # 90 Mon, May 8, 2017 evening
Day # 91 Mon, May 15, 2017 evening
Day # 92 Mon, May 22, 2017 evening
Day # 93 Mon, May 29, 2017 afternoon evening
Day # 94 Mon, Jun 5, 2017 evening
However, if I look at the publicly viewable event page, the dates are wrong:
Quote: When Sun, Apr 30, 2017 afternoon, evening
Sun, May 7, 2017 evening
Sun, May 14, 2017 evening
Sun, May 21, 2017 evening
Sun, May 28, 2017 afternoon, evening
Sun, Jun 4, 2017 evening
My event is set up with timezone 'Etc/GMT' so I'm not sure why this error should come up; can you help? I don't want people turning up on a Sunday by mistake!
Google Chrome, viewed at 10:30 GMT (11:30 local time, UK) on 25 April 2017.
The Guide says 'Each character may freely rebuild anytime before playing an adventure at level 2 or higher.' A pregen (whether it's a goblin, Aspis Consortium agent, or standard pregen) is not your character, so doesn't affect you qualifying for a rebuild. You can continue to consider your options until the the start of the next session where you play your own character.
I leave the chronicle number blank until it's actually applied to the PC.
Pirate Hat wrote: I am about to run house of harmonious wisdom and I have never ran a scenario like this before. On the chronicle sheet it looks like the players get one xp for each of the quest they complete. Does that mean that if they do all 5 of them the get 5 xp? No, the rewards aren't cumulative; you just read across from the number of quests completed to see the relevant rewards. The maximum you can get is 1 XP & 2 prestige, as normal.
Terminalmancer wrote: All right, finished running it! My collected observations: Great summary!

Page 7: A2 and A3 have almost certainly been misplaced on the map.
I think the problems with directions in this quest are best resolved by having north be to the right of the map page, i.e turn the compass rose 90 degrees clockwise.
Quote: Third quest, Constellation
Also fails to include a number of guards in case the PCs fight them. Yeah, I get that it's not supposed to be a combat encounter, but you just have to know there are groups that will turn it into one.
It says the guards are posted in groups of six.
I had to give up my charter subscription after Strange Aeons due to the £ tanking against the $ (meaning that subscriptions were nearly twice as expensive as they used to be).
The programme was only announced in 13 Feb (14 Feb in my timezone) so rewarding sessions from before that is pushing it…
Blake's Tiger wrote: If you already assigned 3 tier 1/1-2 chronicles to that number and you ran The Confirmation as Tier 1. I believe you must assign it to a new number. If you have not assigned 3 more tier 2/1-3, and you ran The Confirmation as Tier 2, then you could add it to your current number. The subtier that you ran a scenario at has no bearing on whether it is a valid chronicle for a character or not. The rewards for a GM chronicle are based on the character's current subtier, even if that's different from the subtier you GMed at.
dwayne germaine wrote: Do the chronicles assigned to a GM credit blob have to be assigned in the order that they were GMed in? Yes. The only exception would be higher tier chronicles that you're holding to apply once you're in tier.
If your character already has 6 or more XP, then it's not valid to have a chronicle from 'the Confirmation' assigned to it.

Oh man, I remember GMing the first 'Challenge of Champions' adventure back in the 2E era of Dungeon, and the whole group having a great time. I hope this captures the spirit of those adventures.
The 'Create a Character' and 'Create an Event' links on the PFS page both go to the 'My Pathfinder Society' page (different tabs).
Please can I cancel the following subscriptions:
Pathfinder Adventure Path
Pathfinder Player Companion
and also cancel pending order 4248656?
I am very sad to have to cancel my charter subscription (I've been a Dungeon/Pathfinder Adventure Path subscriber for over a decade) but unfortunately with the £ tanking following the Brexit vote, items bought in $ are significantly more expensive than they used to be, and I need to economise :-(

Serpents' Ire needs to go on this list...
There are links to all the seasons of scenarios HERE.
Also linked there is the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide, which contains all the standards for playing in and running sanctioned PFS games (if you're not already aware of them). Obviously, if you just want to use PFS scenarios for an unsanctioned home game, this isn't as important.

The Wounded Wisp can also be 'configured' to include the Aspis Consortium, so might be a good place to start if you're short on low-level scenarios to include. Then follow up with The Consortium Compact.

For those interested, the blurb for 'The Solstice Scar' is on the UK Games Expo site.
Quote: the Decemvirate now knows of a powerful tool lost within the Kullan Dei mountains (something we first hinted at in Pathfinder Society Scenario #8-02: Ward Asunder) I lament the fact that when I played this, my party blew virtually every knowledge check on this mission, and ended up oblivious to most of the backstory...
Is there a boon for completing all three parts with the same PC, as there has been for previous trilogies?
If so, would a player who plays the first two parts with a PC with less than 4XP, but plays the third part with a 4th-level pregen (giving credit to his low level PC) get this boon?
I agree that you have to be realistic and fair about such things, especially if you're GMing a game in a short, noisy con slot and hammering through the boxed text as quickly as possible. The GM should always ensure that key NPC names are clearly spoken, as is the part where the VC gives you the key points of the mission. I also think it's expected that the GM should repeat themself if asked for clarification shortly after (i.e. before the first encounter has started).
Maybe I've been trained by playing Call of Cthulhu campaigns where taking good notes was absolutely essential, but I always write down NPC names and key points about the mission when I'm playing. I don't think that's too unreasonable to expect of others.

It's the Chronicler vanity from the Pathfinder Society Field Guide. 10 prestige to allow you to ask the GM once per session to repeat a fact about the mission or backstory, or an NPC name.

There's some discussion of this HERE (dotted through the rest of that page) and the consensus seems to align with the strict text of the boon: the third part must be the last chronicle earned for the PC to qualify.

I am not aware of any way to upgrade cracked or flawed ioun stones to the normal version.

His post does do a terrific job of detailing Magus combat mechanics and helped me understand them. I just wasn't sure if I could use this to support a rules dispute as it might not be "official". The beauty of his post is that all he does is quote the rules and then apply them to simple examples. There are no leaps of logic or twisting of ambiguous wording to get to something that doesn't feel right.
If a player reads that and doesn't understand or still doesn't feel convinced, I'd ask him to re-read it, as hopefully the message will sink in.
