I have a concept (no stats rolled or anything). Will this fit and/or race approval?

Concept
Invandi Abalast, descendent of two long lines of sylph blood, is a Stormsoul (Lighting Sylph) and child of Qadira.
His mother, a follower of Nethys primed his mind and fed him stories of fantasy and interest, and her personal quest was to understand the secrets and history of the Azlanti. His father helped to keep him grounded, having him perform civic duty and learning the rules of becoming master of his house.

In his young adulthood, he was of course conscripted the Qadiran army, where he served his two years finding adventure behind a shield and spear. It sparked a little rebellion, with him not wanting to bear the responsibility of managing the homestead and seek excitement. Then he heard of the Bountiful Venture Company. What better way to find adventure than to send back word of his findings to his mother who would no doubt swoon at whatever findings he could elaborate.

Writing a note of his plan to adventure and return with history uncovered and made, he left home to find excitement in a new land.

Personality: Excitement in expanding details into fantasy history, eager, teamwork, protective.
Quirks: Compulsively writing/drawing, there's generally a place to store chalk in the back of his shield which he uses as a quick-note for rambling ideas until he gets a chance review them, organize them and write them in an actual journal.

Race: Stormsoul Sylph
Class: Shield Champion Brawler. (I might take a single level of another class if it seems to fit well).

Continuing Golarion's line of super-heroes.... ;)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Hi all, I'm Darren. The other one Zay mentioned.

I also happen to know Zach and I've pinged him on the Discords to see if he has a preference on his PC options.

From what I can tell a helper in the frontline, as well as something to provide healing that is more than cures would be helpful?

I'll try and get a character concept and sheet together tonight and see how it's received?

Just a general themes I've got bouncing around in my head is a Separatist Cleric of Calistria or if I end up going the frontliner helper, I still have a desire to play a shield-champion brawler beyond level 2. :)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Wheeee!

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I also would not be disappointed for a June jump into action.

Hello again!

A chance to get in on the ground floor this time... with a fleshed out PC idea? Wheee....

Now to come up with an interesting PC idea...

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I might have to set to DM for #4-19 and #6-11, as I've played both of those in core.

I'm going back and forth between some sort of martial, or a cleric (we should probably have two of those if one of them might be running at some point).

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Sounds fun. Would need to map out a "playlist" well... and figure out dealing with player characters untimely demises.

Intrigued.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

This semester sucks and can't end soon enough.

I am sorry, time got away from me, lost to the void of endless projects. And I have, indeed, been losing what hair I have left.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Working on posting now, just got my PC's profile up and links to relevant documents in his headlines.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Hello!

I'm more apt to play Azzik Lore Oracle 1, Archivist Bard, Mystic Theurge 6 if people are okay with a non-combatant supporty guy.

Otherwise, I have an Air Kineticist.. but there's also a local con coming up soon I'd like to play him in.

Hi!

I signed up for the fifth player slot. I don't have a 7 or 8 at the moment, if that's a problem just let me know.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Howdy!

"My eyes hurt"

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

That's teamwork.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I'm sort of in the middle as well. I like having a framework and one or two things to work with, and then just seeing where it goes.

I had a PC develop a phobia of trees and semi-sentient/aware flora after he climbed out of a tree and it's treehouse fell over him. Random, completely unexpected, fun. It became a good quirk for character drive for when his planned stuff is irrelevant or in the way. ;)

I'm bad with voices, but tend to try to do ones for monsters. Not so much for my PCs because it makes me feel awkward. In the If I talk with a terrible asian accent I hope someone doesn't get offended (he says as a half asian person) kind of way.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

*sits on the couch while our DM pulls out a clipboard and asks questions.*

I'm good, it's been a hectic two weeks. I thought today was going to be slow at work but... that didn't happen.

I actually have most of the mechanics for E worked out, come up with a framework background and did the questionnaire. (Which I'll post soon.)

My goal is to spend some time soon and flesh out the backstory more, and come up with more playable personality quirks to fall back on.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I'll try and get stuff done this week. I'm out of my mind until after tomorrow. ;)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Glad to see you're back and getting healthier Belondia!

I've been doing tabletop rpgs since '96.... good grief.

I started Pathfinder relatively shortly after it's release, and PFS for a little over two years.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

It is a Monday.

I'm still working on fleshing out a background for E.

So far it's kind of coming across as a combination of Indiana Jones meets Caine (from Kung-Fu) meets Beast (from X-men).

I figure E is going to end up a wandering scholar with a penchant for making education freely available where he can. Capable of defending himself, he is free to pursue knowledge at it's source, even if it means travelling to some dirty forgotten temple. Especially if it means travelling to some dirty forgotten temple.

He's going to be from Korvosa, having recently been kicked out of the Acadamae. He figures he'd investigate the Lost Coast's many ruins, but the goblins in the area keep harassing him. He'll be in Sandpoint looking for help with the Goblins so he can continue his research.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Perhaps we've hit our limit on the math puns. Any more might be kind of mean. Getting back to the point of our convergence as a set of gamers...

A free feat for E means a rapier/tankard wielding rogue/cleric ;)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Your guys' jokes are going off on a tangent. ;)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

No worries on being "that guy". There's no hurry, it seems, and making characters that are fun and jive together will be beneficial in the long run.

I'm thinking I'm probably going to take my rogue on the "Knowledge" side (non-comitted at the moment), since it looks like we're lacking any other int-based classes. A nature/ranged option seems pretty rounded.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

No problems here, should be interesting reading. :)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I put together a divine strategist cleric - scout rogue...

it needs tweaking, but I'll probably stick with it.

FYI: divine strategist loses channel energy :-/

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

"Onelung", while uncommon, isn't unique.

I used to use the alias "Breathless" (for a long time) but it tended towards androgynous... so I stopped using it. I stuck it at the end of Onelung because it made it memorable (to me) and unique.

And there you go. ;)

I don't know what I want to play yet either... but gestalt opens up a lot of options!

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Malarkey!

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

lol... wow.

I have no idea why I posted that in the discussion thread.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Round 10, Initiative 8

Otah continues to hound at the caster.

+1 Cold Iron Horsechopper, full attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 for: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Horsechopper, Iterative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 for: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Oof, dice roller, why no love?
Happy New Year everyone!

Returning Shield states that if one has a high enough BAB for additional attacks, they can be made as part of a shield throw as a ricochet from a previous target.

Throw Shield states at 7th level, one can perform a combat maneuver as if making a melee shield bash attack.

So the questions I have are:
If one has a high enough bab for two attacks and has two separate targets standing 10ft apart (V formation with the attacker) and it is assumed that both targets are hit)...

1.) Can one bull rush both targets with the thrown shield?
2.) In what direction is the second target bull rushed? Are both pushed away from the attacker, or is the second one treating the source of the bull rush from the ricochet?

If 1. doesn't hold, would it if you had Shield Slam and used "normal melee bash attacks" as ranged attacks?

Present!

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I thought we were level 2?

I do believe the formula is (bonus squared * 2000).

So +2015 +impact is +2017. (2017^2)*2000gp = 8,136,578,000 gp.

:)

Edit: Thats expensive!

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

That video was witchcraft ;)

And he is! =)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Excellent.

I'll take a little bit of time to read through what your characters are like. [And from the little I've already done, I can see that you are all quite a cast. =]

This will give me some time to actually flesh out a real person PC... although I had an inkling of a nerdy 'land of misfit toys' dwarf. Pondering shall ensue.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Hello all!

I peeked into your discussion this morning to see that my ears should have started burning. =)

You are right, my presence on PbP has been for the last few months, starting in June. I've been pretty present for all of my games.

Please don't judge my writing skill on Korog, without recognizing that speaking in blatantly bad grammar is difficult to write. ;)

I haven't yet read Legacy of Fire posts (but I can). I have heard a couple random stories from Dien, which have sounded entertaining.

My understanding is that you all would like a front-liner of some sort, and that there's some entertaining conversation as to the nature of the party member's size. =)

I haven't fully realized a front-liner concept for a new game yet, but I was thinking of some kind of mobile fighter. Decent, but not high ac [so they can actually hit him and won't choose to ignore] with lunge/spring attack to mitigate full attacks.

Or perhaps a Sword and Board warpriest? I'm open to suggestion, although if you're looking for a speedy entrance I can certainly just make something.

Seeking a Samsaran boon.

PM if interested in trading your samsaran. Thanks!

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

For the purposes of spell levels, caster levels don't stack. You're casting fireball/acidball as a Level 8 wizard. [Unless Markavious is actually level 10?]

Not that removing 1d6+2 is going to mean much in this instance, but it's something you should probably be aware of.

IE: If you're casting your admixture fireball/acidball as an 8th level wizard, you're getting Lvl8 Wizard+Varisian Tatoo+Spell Specialization = 11d6.

If you can find a way to add 2 more CL to your spell, you could get up to 13D6 though. =)

I'd also advise you to be wary of table variation on using your sorcerer's bloodline on spells cast as another caster level. Apparently there's a FAQ for this somewhere. Sweet.

[Trait: Magical Knack for your wizard class would raise your CL by two, but since you're only missing one level of wizard, it only benefits you for one CL]

And the local players cheer!

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

You left the universal PFS calling card.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

No worries. Thanks for the heads up.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I'm a fan of the trophy. =D

I didn't think we would get it after an interesting rule debates we got into with one member of the opposing team on the first game. To their credit, they recognized that the tournament organizer sided with our case (and almost universal precedent) and didn't hold it against us.

Did you get pictures of the Ravenloft setup? That sounded super cool.

I came back with some ideas on how to run Assault on the Wound more efficiently. It'll take a little work, but I think I'll pick up the scenario and start crafting tools to make it flow way better. Once I do that, maybe I'll offer to run it.

The end of our module game was super exciting for me. Playing a level three wizard who had run out of offensive spells, I felt like my battlefield controlling had a super positive effect on the last encounters. I haven't done my writeup yet, but if anyone's interested, I'll share a link to a writeup of how the game went. =)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

It was fun. I missed Saturday due to a 40k tournament at another site, but I caught a game Friday evening, played the module Mask of the Living God on Sunday, and on Monday played Assault on the Wound and The Technic Siege.

Assault on the Wound was... rough. Mass combat is a different beast. I think I figured out how I would run it though. Some of the handouts and information they give could be super condensed and make it less frustrating. Plus we had a lot of strong personalities at the table that were disagreeing on how things should be done. We got through it though, no character deaths.

Moral of the story: Read Mass Combat if you ever DM the scenario.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Back from the con! Let's see if we can't get this party started.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Small world indeed =)

Just a reminder that today is the start of Pacificon!

I'll try and post after game-nights... but it might be a slow weekend.

Hope everyone enjoys their holiday weekend (or their Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays for our friends over the border. =)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Lol. Your in-laws are then practically my neighbors. That's where I'm at.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I'm not so much in the bay area, as I am within driving distance of it.

I live about half an hour east of Sacramento.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

I'll bring Korog, my 2nd level Barbarian sunderer-like guy.

He's not an idiot, but I like to play him simple-minded. :)

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

So far we have a:
3: Brawler/Paladin
1: Bard/Dervish
1: Battle Oracle
?
Should I bring the barbarian then?
I actually have a choice between a 1st level brutal pugilists or a second level sunderer.

Male Human IT Specialist: 8, Gamer: 5

Hello all,

I can bring:
Level 1 Barbarian
Level 1 Druid
Level 2 Cleric
