Male Human Fighter 1
Marius throws his old long sword into the mix of things to sell. "This axe more than makes up for my old blade." Adding the coins to his purse, he rests easy that night in a warm bed and readies his belongings in the morning.
Spoiler: Just so my math is right. The sale price is 1/2 the cost(15gp). Divide that by 4 and you get 1.875. That works out to 1 gp 8 sp 7 cp and a remainder of 2 cp.

Kwin Avassar wrote: I understand your excitement about this find, truly I do. However, perhaps you should wait a day or so before making your ask. Perhaps some time to ponder will may you reconsider your choice of question. Not that I think the question is a poor one; quite the contrary. But I see little reason to rush. Marius nods at Kwin, "I agree with Kwin. Better to wait and use such a treasure when we know what to ask. Shall we try the hidden door?"

Marius looks surprised at the wolf's departure. "Hugh? I guess I should have showered? It's bad when even the wolves don't want to eat you." Turning to his companions, "I can take point; however, I don't think I could spot a trap to save my life. Since that is actually what it could mean, I would appreciate it if someone with such skills could walk next to me." Seeing Gideon's little spell, Marius brightens, "Do you think that you could put something like that on my shield?"

Having failed to hit with his last attack, Marius drops into a defensive posture. Ducking under the wolf's bite, Marius comes up next to the beast and swings for its throat.

Marius nods along with the whole conversation. "I'm in. Sounds like a great way to fund my new smithy! Can I get a bottle of whiskey for the road? Thanks so much!" After placing the bottle in his pack and wrapping it protectively, he adds "Shall we be on our way or wait till dawn?"

He stands a while surveying the interior while carelessly cracking his knuckles. Noticing a group of liked-dressed individuals, purposely strides across, settling down next to a cropped haired, bearded man. He catches the eye of the halfling bartender, "Today's special and some water,". Nodding at the new comer, "Hail to thee! How'd you get so big and strong drinking such things?" Marius smiles to let him know it was just a tease. Turning to the group at the table, he stands up and walks over with a refilled ale. Sitting down, "A pleasant greeting to you other road weary folk and to you professor. Names Marius. Blacksmith by profession. What brings all of you to this little corner of the world?"

A road dirty man with a thick black beard walks in the tavern. He pulls down his traveler's cloak and shakes his chopped hair. The look of his clothes seem to imply that he once groomed himself daily but that ship has sailed. The only items that are cared for are the weapons and armor on this man. He wares a dagger and sword on his belt with a bow and a hammer on his back. A set of polished scale mail and a buckler peak out from under his cloak. Seeing the dwarf, Marius walks up to the dwarf and orders an ale. "Hail to you friend dwarf! Marius deBlack Forge is my name. May the ale sing you softly to sleep ... but not before another round!" Taking a seat next to the good dwarf, Marius notes the three other odd companions. Tipping his mug in their direction, Marius adds, "And hail to thee! What are ya drinking?"
I'll throw my hat into the ring on this. A nice LG Human meat-shield, err fighter. Since this is primarily hack-and-slash, I haven't put together too great of a back story. Background: Marius was once a blacksmith in the army. After a few orders that didn't sit well with him, Marius decide to resign and move on with his life. He has heard of a little dungeon with great riches. Riches enough to get his smithy up and running. Perhaps he may even do some good along the way. The Fates will tell. |
