"Oh No! Not much of a climber myself... but even if there isn't a way in up there, perhaps we could see in before we enter".

He then looks around at the others.

"Is anyone here good at climbing"?

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

Mangrove scratches his wooden chin area...

"Has anyone checked the roof for access"?

NOTE: I'm getting an unwelcome visit from Milton probably tomorrow, so if I don't post you'll know why.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Perception (Sense Motive).

Mangrove is so intent on making notes that he misses any potential social cues.

Mangrove stays quiet for the moment taking in the dynamics of the situation. He says nothing, butpulls forth a small notebook and makes a few notes before returning to his socializing.

AFK until Friday. Feel free to DMPC.

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

Mangrove will compose a short poem about the deeds of the hunt taking care to expose how the brave Young Foxglove prevailed in leading this group, despite taking a severe wound defending his companions.

He will then go to one of his normal groves and practice reciting the new ode till he has it down pat.

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

Technically it's to all "Attack" rolls. Force Barrage doesn't have the Attack Trait, but the Manipulate trait...so probably not.

◆ CAST: Courageous Anthem
◆◆ CAST: Telekinetic Projectile
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 Throw a dead limb

Mangrove continues to extort his companions with inspiring stories and poems.

BTW Lucien since the crossbow has the load action you just technically by RAW took 6 actions… Draw crossbow, load, fire, load, fire, stride.

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

"That sounds grand. Perhaps I can compose a ballad about the adventures of the great hunt... and I never turn down an invitation to visit new and as yet unknown trees and shrubs".

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

Mangrove will also try to gather information.

Sorry about the delay. Thought I'd have more time to post. Back to normal tomorrow... so feel free to DMPC to keep things from stalling.

Can't remember. This is normally a secret check do you want us to roll on our own? This kind of negates the possibility of a critical failure and wrong information.

"Look here. See where these patches have been removed from this robe. I believe this might be a now used up robe of bones. You could remove these patches and throw them to the ground causing a skeleton to step forth".

Your body produces a nearly endless supply of hard seedpods. You gain a seedpod ranged unarmed attack with a range increment of 30 feet that deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage. On a critical hit, a seedpod bursts, issuing forth a tangle of vegetation that imposes a –10-foot circumstance penalty on the target’s Speed until the start of your next turn. Seedpods do not add critical specialization effects.

Mangrove finds a spot that sells more of his gifted elixer, and perhaps overindulges a bit. He goes back to one of his normal rooting spots and tries to sleep it off... unless someone comes for him.

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

The bark around Mangroves tree-face reddens a bit, but his smile is genuine as he accepts the gift. "Why thank you. I only did what was right... it's my town too you know. May your benches grow heavy with blossoms and peace be with you".

Can Mangrove identify the liquid?

BTW Mangrove could use some of his bark reattached and the sap flow stopped while you're handing out medicine checks. :-) Trees heal too...

"What is happening here! Are Goblins trying to take over this city"?

Mangrove spots an old cat skeleton against the wall and sends it barreling towards the goblin in front of him.

NOTE: I'm colorblind so naming the color of the goblin doesn't help me much. :-) Perhaps you could click and label or just adjust as needed.

If we stay in encounter mode he'll make a seek action before the end of the round, followed by any movement needed to take him towards the action.

Seven is quite a lot... but PbP usually has attrition, so I'm okay to start with it for a while. Not sure I'm comfortable running that many when it's my turn... but willing to give it a shot.

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

Mangrove starts first at the thunderstone. I hate thunder... and more specifically lightning. Great Uncle Burburry got struck by lightning and burnt to a crisp. He then hears the goblin song and watches as the brutal slaying of the poor innocent dog causes his leaves to rise.

"I'm guessing they are no friends of yours climber Snag".

◆ Raise Shield
◆◆ Telekinetic Projectile.

He then whips up some nearby stones and broken bricks and slings them at the closest Goblin.

"We'll have none of that now".

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Telekinetic Projectile
2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 Rocks, and bricks and such.

Well that's an auspicious campaign beginning

A bit of sap appears in the corner of Mangrove's eyes as the butterflies are released.

"It is so beautiful. They are free".

"But of course you have young Snag. We just move on a different schedule than flesh and blood individuals. Do trees and plants not grow from seedlings to mature plants. Does the wind not cause leaves and branches to sway in its embrace. Does the Autum not cause many of our leaves to wither and fall, then grow back anew each spring. Even when you climbed my branches a while back did my branches not shake and bend as you made your way up".

He then takes a quick dance step or two.

"I just happen to be one of the lucky few who has attained a semblance of awakening and am able to experience life as I choose instead of waiting for it to happen to me".

Mangrove is. The little goblin has probably tried to climb his branches a few times in the past

Since Mangrove doesn't have a stomach to growl, he'll choose the tavern with the best wooded area near it. Which looks like either the Hagfish or the White Deer.

"Well I've already embarrassed myself with my lack of strength in the rope pulling stunt, but since I don't blush nobody knows. Might as well try my hand at this. I understand leverage more than brute strength".

1d20 ⇒ 17 STR Check

Then grins at Mira as his effort matches hers.

Ha! See Muscles aren't everything".

He then flexes his spindly arm branches in a false show of bravado.

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

Mangrove studies the new arrival and takes a slender branch/hand/arm and rubs where a chin would be on a humanoid.

"I guess you can choose to look at life two ways. One is that nobody gets out alive so why keep living... or you only live once so grasp everything you can while you're alive".

A big grin then spreads across his woody visiage.

"I simply choose the latter as I can't change anything about the former".

Male, plant Root Leshy; HP 20/20, AC 16/18, MV 25, Hero Points 1/3 Warrior Muse Bard: Perception +6, Fort +5, Ref +5, Will +6, Lowlight Vision

Mangrove happily adds the ribbon to his good luck tokens.

I believe the Root Leshy Heritage would apply here.

Spoiler:

Root Leshy Heritage: Your body is made from hardy roots that attach you firmly to the ground. You gain 10 Hit Points from your ancestry instead of 8. You can go without sunlight for 2 weeks before you begin to starve. You gain a +2-circumstance bonus to your Fortitude or Reflex DC against attempts to Reposition, Shove, or Trip you. This bonus also applies to saving throws against spells or effects that attempt to move you or knock you prone.

But though his roots sink deep, the limberness of his branches hurt him in this endeavor.

Working on ideas for a backstory for Mangrove.

* He was awakened about 50 years ago in an area near Sandpoint (TBD).
* He protected his druid creator Mylindar for many years till she died of old age.
* He got board standing in the woods, so made his way to Sandpoint.
* He's been here about 4 years now and is something of a novelty the townsfolk tolerate.
