A Question for Legendary Games: Mythic Occultism?

Product Discussion

As far as I Know, Paizo don't have any product nor project for making mythic options for the occultist classes. Have Legendary any of the sort?

I don't know of any Legendary did (I'll let them answer that) - but the Four Horsemen presents the Transcendentalist by Rouge Genius is around. Just bought it myself yesterday - I thought it very well done.

For the ACG classes neither. The Mythic Hero's Handbook had something for them, but not enough. We hope in you, Legendary Games.

Funny you should ask...

Our next Mythic Magic book is approaching release, probably for early March, and that is, of course, Mythic Magic: Occult Spells! It has been in process for a while, but various contributors' writing schedules have conspired to push it back from when we had originally hoped to release it (which would have been around Halloween last year). Hey, things happen!

We have also laid out the relaunch of our weekly Mythic Minis, which will likewise be starting back up next month, with the following (I haven't applied numbers to each, as the order may change depending on which ones get done first):

Mythic Minis: Mesmerist Feats
Mythic Minis: Kineticist and Occultist Feats
Mythic Minis: Medium, Psychic, and Spiritualist Feats
Mythic Minis: Feats of Psychic Magic
Mythic Minis: Occult Feats I
Mythic Minis: Occult Feats II

We also have plans to create mythic class features for the occult classes, which we might release as part of the Mythic Minis line or as a single larger product. That's a bit farther down the road so we'll have to wait and see how it shakes out.

TL;DR - YES, we are doing mythic occult, and it's COMING VERY SOON!

I know you had mentioned Mythic Magic - that will be sweet. The others look good too.

I love that we have a couple companies supporting mythic so well.

Your plans near future being spells, feats and some mythic class features. Transcendentalist is an occult mythic path. Great stuff.

You're welcome. Reviewed too.

No Path though? Doesn't that make the mythic kineticist/mesmerist/occultist/psychic/spiritualist feats useless?

Not at all. Mythic feats simply overlap the feats that already exist, so if you had the Chakra Adept feat, you could take the Chakra Adept (Mythic) feat with one of the mythic feat slots you gain at every odd-numbered mythic tier.

Likewise, you could use the Mythic Spell Lore feat to select mythic versions of occult spells just as you would select arcane or divine spells.

We haven't yet created a path that is purely devoted to psychic magic or to occult themes, although they can fit well with some of the existing standard paths. Also, the Path of the Genius offers some interesting options that mesh well thematically with a lot of stuff in the occult book (and the upcoming Horror Adventures book, for that matter), and the Overmaind path in the Mythic Hero's Handbook, while designed to work with Dreamscarred Press' psionics system, could be adapted to work with Pathfinder psychic magic without too much trouble.

A path for the occult is on our list of possible products to do, as I think it would be a nice addendum for this new area of the rules, but it will come after the products we've noted above, which can be

Eh, I just find it abit weird you've have to homebrew and modify the paths just to get basically any use since archmage basically only affects arcane magic, heirophant only affects divine magic, and overmind has things that use power points and psicrystals.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I think most people essentially want "Archmage, but Psychic" for a mythic path... so I genuinely think it would be easier to just made some psychic-specific path abilities for the existing paths, rather than making something entirely new. XD

Thank you again for the review! I think Tim Hitchcock's occult mythic path definitely fits a needed niche, but it sounds like the upcoming Legendary Games products are going to compliment it really well.

IIRC Mythic Advanced Class Guide class features, feats, and spells were originally going to be a stretch goal of Mythic Mania. That stretch goal was swapped out for something else within a few hours of it being posted, with the stated reason being that Jason/Neil didn't want to commit to working with a then-unreleased rulebook that no one had seen. Now, I'd be completely on-board with new supplements for mythic class features for all the new classes, including the unchained classes and the vigilante when it comes out. Most of the ACG class features are already mythic-ized (since they are duplicates of features of older classes), but there are still a few there that could use some mythic-ization, along with the occult adventures classes.

And if everything in the ACG, PFU, OA, UIntrigue and Horror Adventures ultimately gets a mythic treatment, then we could have enough for a second round of Mythic Mania Kickstarter hardcovers!

Oh, I agree that it's not ideal, and there really SHOULD be a psychic/occultic path available. Sometimes it's just a matter of what order people are ready and able to do various things, and the next Path we had on the docket was the Reluctant Hero, which is now available! I think it's very likely we'll get a psychic path in the pipeline once we get the feats and spells knocked out.

I just got the biggest piece of the turnover for Mythic Magic: Occult Spells in from Amanda. We should have the rest of the spells done this week and it'll be off to layout soon!
