Lady Shrike looks out at the sources of fire. The fewer snipers that are allowed to freely take potshots, the better.

"Snipers! Don't give them space!" she shouts before kicking her jetpack into overdrive and shooting across the pavement like a bullet!

Lady Shrike grunts and groans against the weight of the rubble. She does her best to squeeze free of the crushing rocks. Or, should she already be free, she'll attempt to help another ally instead!

She pivots on a heel and begins moving down the alley at a brisk pace, slowing herself enough to allow her allies to keep pace.

"Enemies! Lady Shrike is quick to respond, her wings flapping hard to bring the armored paladin into the air above the ground. She then angles her wings to dive towards the nearest foe to bring down her whirring fangblade.

As the drop pod descends, Sister Chaplain Lanius Shrike retrieves a censer from her belt. She holds it in front of her, motioning across the strapped-in crew. It's smoke is odorless, and likely crafted to not cause issue in pressurized compartments.

"O Spirit of Golarion, bless these warriors as they go forth to do your good work. Bless us with bravery and valor in the face of these villains. Guide our blades and our reticles so that we may strike true in your name. Deliver unto us the weak and sick and the innocent so way may deliver them from evil."

Her prayer intensifies as the drop pod's landing is imminent. "May we strike the earth like your armored fist to deliver justice!"

The chaplain is the first to step out, blade and pistol in hand. "As expected, they were ready. I've no doubt their visions foretold of their inevitable defeat. Come, let us bring their prophecy to life!"

My apologies. I did a little audit of my character and it turns out I've still got to complete one more scenario before I can hit level 11. So my signup should be as 10. Hope that doesn't mess with the encounter calculations!

Lady Lanius smiles and she brings her gauntlet covered fist into her palm. "My old mercenary unit used to favor hot drops into combat zones. Shrike Squad was renowned for their rapid insertions and deadly assaults. It feels like a lifetime ago when they were giving me basic grav training."

The normally stern woman's face lights up with excitement. "We won't let you down, Fitch. We'll cut through the enemy like the sword of the Goddess herself and get those people out of there."

"But remember what it was like to fly... without even engines?" she reminisces.

"It's fun, isn't it?" says the hawkish looking woman as she steps into the room. And hawkish in many literal ways: from her slightly angular face and pointed nose and chin, to the pair of avian wings folded in behind her back. Beyond that, the woman is wearing heavy armor colored in red and white and gold trim. Her protective shell is festooned with a small church's worth of iconography, all dedicated to Iomedae.

"Greetings. I am Sister Chaplain Lanius Shrike, paladin in service of the goddess Iomedae. You may simply call me Lady Shrike, if you prefer."

She happily takes an autograph from Azara. "Thank you. A sister in battle from my old mercenary unit would likely appreciate this. She's from Castrovel."

Hey hey! I'd be happy to bring my Sister Whomst Battles into this next game! I'll need a little bit to level her up thanks to her most recent chronicle, but it shouldn't take too long.

Lady Shrike assists Officer Swizzers with the prisoners, but makes sure to enjoy the ceremony as well. She allows herself the indulgence of a photo with the trophy, which she immedietly sends to someone on her contacts list, mumbling something about "Yellowback's going to love this."

On the ride back, she focuses on her prayers, with her blade laid out over a small surface as an improvised shrine to Iomedae. She gives thanks for their victory, thanks for guidance in the rescue, and vows to continue to fight in Her name.

Lanius' prayers seem to have a little more umph put into them as she wills the ship to move faster by the power of faith alone!

"Glory to the soul who does not abide injustice.

With her allies working hard on the ship, Lanius takes a knee and offers a prayer to her goddess for a righteous victory!

Lanius nods at the surrendering pirate. She approaches, cautiously, and retrieves the dropped weapon. "Good. You will not be harmed, as long as you comply."

One more foe left. Lanius presses the attack!

The officer's move is bold. Lanius stays close, already armed with her sword and pistol. She can only assume these pirates will be willing to fight to the bitter end over their ill-begotten gains.

Lanius nods. "I'll do what I can to minimize unnecessary casualties. Just be sure to stay behind me."

Shrike will stand as close to the front as possible. Considering her quick charges and 3 dimensional movement, she doesn't need to be on the first row if it's already taken.

Lady Shrike deactivates her blade and looks towards Soughan and Tayyara. "Anything you'd like to warn us about before we proceed?"

"Not so fast!"

The aspiring paladin's wings flap hard as she launches herself towards the enemy on muscle power alone. Taking the chance to position herself, she stands between the two guards and draws her thirsty fangblade.

Lady Shrike narrows her eyes. Criminals who lack in bravado tend to compensate with disloyalty to their own kid. "Are you sure this captain isn't just heavily modified, or perhaps a planetouched?"

Would Profession (Mercenary) make for a suitable substitute?

Prof (Merc) just in case...: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Lady Shrike sighs. "Unbelievable."

While she defers to the officer in this matter, the aspiring paladin remains on standby with a hand resting over the hilt of her blade.

Reassured that Rogers has control of their vessel, Lady Shrike leaps over the edge and fires up the jet pack. "Get as close as you can! I'm going to check for wounded!"

The soldier crosses the distance over the turbulent whirlpool in hopes that she can make sure a line can attach on that side. And if need be, she can try to ferry individual survivors herself.

Lady Shrike gives a firm nod and smiles. "I'm glad we're in agreement. I didn't want to have to jump ship to help them."

At the conclusion of the battle, Lady Shrike will take a knee, deactivating her fangblade and bowing her head over its upturned handle.

"Spirit of Golarion, My goddess Iomedae, thank you for our this victory. May you guide us to the end of this race, may my blade cut down any who seek to harm my friends."

With an nod, she stands and wipes her lip with the back of her hand. "My breath has turned to dust. Is there a trained physician among us?"

For Lady Shrike, the sight of her breath coming out as dust should be of greater concern, but at this moment the foe in front of her is a far more immediate problem!

She remains in place, striking at her foe.

"Wake up! Rise! Beasts are attacking the ship!"

Lady Shrike shouts as she takes to the skies, jet pack flaring. She draws her fangbade and it revs to life in her hand. She makes an expert pivot in the air, twisting as she shoots blade-first towards her enemy like a holy missile!

The combat grid seems to be in view mode only. By the end of her turn, Lanius should be nudged up against any northern border of the beast that's ramming the ship.

Lanius agrees to the shifts, hoping to give the team some solid distance for her first turn at the wheel. You never know what's in store for the future.

"This takes me back. The old squad had to manage a road trip through a hostile wilderness. We all took turns driving the APC. Back then I didn't know how to drive so well... and the bouncing in the seats made me sick." She laughs. "Good times. I bet Yellowback still has that stain on her old armor."

Lady Shrike does what she can with the rigging, going so far as to hanging on and using her own wings to help steer the thing if she has to.

Lady Shrike will try saying a prayer for guidance as she focuses on the more mystical aspects of the navigation.

"Iomedae, o Spirit of Golarion, guide our vessel in this most noble contest of skill..."

Lady Shrike gestures forward with a grand gesture. "Let's go! Forward! The only two places are First and Last, and if it looks like we're coming in Last I'll start losing crew to save on weight!"

There's a playful tone to what she says, but that sharp look in her eagle eyes carries more intent than her smile.

Lady Shrike calls upon her rote memorization of maneuvering techniques to try and help position the sails.

I was assuming Lady Shrike's piloting was our lead check, and the rest of us were aiding. If that was meant to be an aid check, then Rogers can be pilot at +17 instead of perception.

Oh no, I saw someone with the ace pilot background and assumed it would be rude take that from them.
