"Hmph. We could put her in the brig and leave her ship here."

"I'm not really comfortable leaving her to attack non-Pathfinder ships either," Kaz agrees quietly, but doesn't argue with the venture-captain, "Although really, they didn't actually seem all that dangerous."
He remembers that she defeated the venture-captains, and apparently quite quickly and easily. He hopes they didn't overhear that. "Wait... is she weak or are we that strong? I suppose I have been learning more powerful spells...

"Oh no! Oh dear, is Silence sick? Oh my, I'm afraid I don't have a spell for curing illness."

I might swap that for phantasmal killer. I overlooked that difference between them. Fleeing for such a long duration might be very annoying for the GM.

What just happened?
You called her an idiot.
I was trying to keep the unpredictable violent person calm, so I politely agreed with whatever she said!
After she asked if you thought she was an idiot.
But she also said... oh. Oh my. ...well she IS.
Yeah.

"Is that supposed to get us to back off? 'We're going to keep killing until we're stopped'? You are dumb!"

Zak charges forward as Kaz falls back. He slices at the pirate that foolishly came closer, while Kaz attempts to cast a spell on the captain. "Oh, we can be quite frightening," he squeaks adorably.

That's not even a good story. If we had an agreement like that, wouldn't they be the ones breaking it to steal what we would be giving them anyway?

Yes, I know.

"We really don't have a wealth of relics. We might have with more time to figure out how to extract things properly, but we had to rush because... well, pirates were attacking. Do you see us carrying a load of treasure?"

Kaz holds up the wand. "We found this wand. Do you want this wand?"

Kaz directs a hand at Zak, and then closes his fist. Zak vanishes. He then directs his hand at the other end of the hall and raises it up, and the sprite reappears. "Boring!" he huffs.

I'll just use Manifest Eidolon to skip Zak past this one.

PFS guidelines for Summoners say I only make one check for the duo for Victory Point systems and must make two for other things that affect everybody. Not sure which this is. If I must/can also roll for Zak, then...

Zak just moves where he thinks feels right, quickly and gracefully and sometimes gliding briefly through the air.
Acrobatics (Expert): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29

PFS Summoner Guidelines:
Eidolons are not PCs, so they do not count as PCs for effects that scale based on the number of PCs or players.

Eidolons and summoners share a pool of actions. As a result, for Victory Point/success counting systems that allow each PC a limited number of chances to roll, either the summoner or the eidolon can attempt each check. The summoner's player chooses for each attempt which of the two rolls. Any direct consequences of failure apply to whichever creature rolled the check.

This rule does not mean that in general only one of the summoner or eidolon need to roll to deal with adverse situations. If everyone in a room needs to attempt a saving throw against a hazard, both the eidolon and the summoner need to attempt that saving throw. If every PC needs to overcome a particular obstacle in order to continue (such as crossing a chasm), the eidolon and summoner both need to get past the obstacle.

Kaz is glad none of the cats came up to him, but he's still surrounded. This makes it a little difficult to fully concentrate on empowering Zak.

Act Together would still only be two actions there, but the third can be a Strike.

Summoners and Eidolons share actions, so either of them can use any or all of the actions. Act Together is the basic all-purpose Tandem action. Tandem actions are action condensing--they let them both do something using the same action.

Either the Summoner or Eidolon can use Act Together. The one who uses it can then do any activity that uses the same number of actions, and the other one gets an extra action that they can only use for a single-action activity.

They do also share MAP, though. My Summoner avoids attack roll spells.

"It's like the Taleweaver from the story--it might be the same one, telling its own story."

Somewhat regretting his departure from his usual tactic of defensive magic, Kaz does note that the demon distracted by dispelling his affliction was probably at least as effective as the spell would have been anyway.

He focuses on sending power to Zak so he can slice up the imaginary gnoll--and also healing himself, which seems necessary at this point.

Kaz Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 Failure, Kaz takes full damage.
Zak Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 Success. Zak would take half damage, but a Summoner and an Eidolon share an HP pool and only take the greater effect when they're both hit by an AoE that damages or heals.

Kaz isn't quick enough to react to the fire. On the plus side, he's too preoccupied by his own burns to even notice the pull of Zak's injury on his life force.

Can't you do that?

I--I think so, but it won't work.

How--

The demon caught itself in its own blast. Clearly its not concerned with fire. I have another idea.

Zak moves around the cultist attacking Jun-Mei. Out of the range of her spell, but hitting them from behind is worth at least as much. Probably.
Kobold sized, he's too big for his wings to provide a lot of lift. They're still surprisingly strong, though, and sharp enough to cut into his foes. "Water? No, but if they're made of threads I'll cut them down!"

While he's doing that, Kaz steps nervously a little closer to the demon. He holds out a hand and pushes down, trying to keep it magically restrained.

* Tandem Movement. Kaz and Zak both Stride.
* Act together. Kaz casts slow on the demon, Fortitude DC 21. On a success it's Slowed 1 one round, on failure Slowed 1 one minute, or Slowed 2 one minute on a critical failure; no effect on critical success. And Zak Strikes the gnoll from flanking position: Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 for slashing damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 3 = 10.

"A story," says Kaz, "about our own exploits?"

We've been asked that before.

That was specifically about something we'd done as members of the Society, though. For this I think... I'm going back just a little further.

"Not too long ago, in this very city--though well out of sight of this bazaar, there was a wizard. She was by no means an archmage, though the magical powers she possessed were more than enough for her to consider herself great and elite, and for her to think many people were beneath her. She was selfish and cruel (and likely remains so today, for this story is not her last).

"She took no notice of of the waitstaff at the tavern or the singer performing on the stage. She certainly took no notice of the fortune teller. No powerful diviner, he was more of a street performer, doing card readings at the tables for a little coin.

"Ignoring him entirely, her fault was that it never occurred to her that he wasn't necessarily ignoring her.

"On her table was a birdcage. And in that cage, she admitted to her co-conspirators, adventurers of the worst sort, was no bird. Her captive was a fairy, a sprite of the First World. She intended some cruel magical experiment, or an attempt to find a method to steal his innate magical power for her own.
"But the fortune teller did hear.

"That night, with her things left in her room in the inn over the tavern, he snuck into that room and broke open the birdcage. The sprite showed no sign of gratitude as he simply darted out the window--"

Hey!
This is a true story, after all.

"--but that night, the fortune teller dreamt of a lady in green with a beautiful voice. As a reward, or a punishment, or perhaps just because she thought it was funny, she was binding the fates of the fortune teller and the sprite together. They never did work out which of them was being rewarded and which punished."

...

Way too long, you lost her.

Oh.
