Two players looking for GM to run Pathfinder Kingmaker. Looking to try and do a lower player count game in order to help contend with some of the turnover issues this AP seems to have due to IC/OOC issues between players. The two players have been playing together and chatting with each other for several years and both have seen many campaigns end prematurely separately due to these problems. (It's understandable, it's a political game so things get brought to an argument pretty quickly pretty often about morals and the like.)

Weird idea we have thought about seeing if GM would be interested in, is doing two nomadic heroes taking on the summons for fame and glory... One interested in finding land to challenge himself and prove his mettle, given the terrible conditions of the Shoanti lands in Cinderlands and carve out a new swath of land for his people. The other's motivation of striking out to purge the Stolen lands of the evil that has claimed it, bandits, and all.

The campaign having two PCs would require some reworking, we are aware, perhaps by adding in extra NPCs the group can hire (That they'll control during combat to ease the burden on the GM) and the like.

Sczarni

This is mostly theorizing. So hopefully this isn't an issue and could be interesting to see what people would do in this situation.

I'm playing at the virtual table with some friends and we are playing Jade Regeant. We just left Wolf's Ear and are having a bit of a time as we were attacked by Ogres one night and then Werewolves the next night. (I think, we might be cursed.)

This game is slightly homebrewed but not too drastically (I don't think this matters but we will see.) The party is Level three and we are waiting to finish the fight next week but in the first half of the fight the werwolves get to Sandru and he gets bit twice.

My character, a barbarian in the middle of raging turns his back on the potentially slain NPC and proceeds to kill the Werewolf. Sandru, proceeds to wolf out while I am murdering the werewolf that bit him. (Its a full moon, so even if he shouldn't have transformed today...this is the narrative and I find it interesting.)

So Were-Dru starts mauling my barbarian and I have to give him two really nice hits with the greataxe and put him down. I am now pretty damn certain Sandru is dead. Another NPC is likely to die (Some random we picked up to drive an extra wagon.) As he also is in the throws of changing....

How would you handle continuing the story? [I have llayed through the AP once before but itd been years. However, I know Sandru isn't super important.) I cant see things going well with Sandru's crew....but i can see Ameiko and Shalelu still pressing on with the PCs...did we kill the caravan mini game? Would you make one of the PCs the new Caravan leader and just push forwards after refilling NPCs at the next city?

I am absolutely horrid at crafting costs.

Can someone help me out and figure out the cost of a Wonderous Item (Hand slot), that 2/day allows the wearer to cast recharge innate magic.

Discussion that will be used for leveling only.

Hello and welcome to my Recruitment. Some may have seen me here and there as I've been active on the boards for about five years now. I have had a lot of fun GMing for my Way of the Wicked group and learned a lot from it. However, I am not I feel ready for the big leagues (making my own true campaign.) That said, one game I have always wanted to play beside WotW has been Kingmaker, another very popular game here on the boards.

But you guys didn't come here to hear any of that, so here are the details for recruitment.

This is for Book 1 for now, but provided the interest is still strong, you guys don't think I suck at this, and we are all still having fun....it'll continue!

Posting Requirements: Twice per week (M-Th), Once for the weekend. I will be fairly strict on this, but so long as you give me notice of some kind, I will not hold it against you provided you can resume within a reasonable time. I will GM your character if needed during such time.

Classes: All are welcome save Paladin, all Occult Classes, and Vigilante (Honestly, I think they would excel at this particular AP but...I'm not that well versed in them so I'm gonna exclude them Sorry) No 3PP, I won't be swayed on this.
Health: In my mind, you are part of the some unknown divine will to become King and Queen (or King and Concubine, or Queen and Concubine). Since, I will be running only two players, those players will have full health.

Races: All Core, Featured, and Uncommon. (Save Android, Drow
Noble, Kasatha, Lashunta, Svirfneblin, and Triaxian.) No 3PP, and Aasimars will have an appropriate -2 stat added to them.

Alignment: I'm leaning more towards G and N but I will not limit, if I find a good pairing for an Evil King and Queen, then I am open to it, but it will have to be exceptional.

Deity: There are many gods that are available, choose somewhere within your alignment. This game need not be a theocracy but know that there is some divine something that has made this possible and may show itself sometime (if we ever get there.) I would prefer that both players follow the same god(s) so there may be room to readjust after the two players/characters are chosen. I wouldn't suggest basing your entire character around the church/god because of this.

Stats: 4d6 drop the lowest, roll one extra set. (This is my favorite, I believe in luck) I reserve the right to roll an extra set on your behalf if I feel you are underpowered by too much. No stat above 20 starting. Also, if you do not roll a negative, I will be forcing your lowest stat to an 8 that cannot be improved by racial. You are not gods yourself, therefore you must be flawed. Also, do not delegitimize this flaw. If you put it in Cha as an example, you may not choose a trait like Student of Philosophy. So no Versatile Performance to override that roll as well.
Skills: Background Skills and one Free skill per level. As well as one Free Feat that can be any, and One Free Feat that must be non combat. (Please Paizo only feats as with all else, no 3PP)

Traits: Three traits, one of which must be a Campaign trait.

Now then, one final caveat. Gestalt!

Please state what your freebies are in your crunch for all your choices including what your Background skills are and which one is your free skill.

I am gonna start you guys at level three. We will be starting from the very beginning of the game but I want you to be able to create a story that sets you apart, gives you that look and feeling of being extraordinarily lucky or saved by a divine hand.

Please don't min/max. We're all here to have fun, beating the AP to death via math isn't that fun and may force me to make things more difficult which in turn may not hurt your character but could be bad for other players cause I won't pull punches.

I will be setting up a Discord server for this game. I will be asking that all players post first to paizo, then copy and paste to Discord for the gameplay thread.

I feel this allows everyone to know when everyone has posted and it will let me know when to post next. It also allows me to make as many OOC threads as needed to help keep topics neat and tidy and easy to follow.
Throughout the campaign, people will flock to you, offer themselves to your service, be saved by you, etc. All of them will be essentially Cohorts for purposes of what their level and such will be. Each player will get to choose an NPC to take along as they crusade. The rest will be helping manage your kingdom.

This will be a roleplay heavy campaign, please do not play the silent brooding type, the loner, ect.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Also, your first post must include your dice rolls. (This includes Dots or expressions of interest.) PLEASE, do this one.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

With much sadness, I must once again open the recruitment thread for my campaign. I still have three strong players interested in continuing the game. I am looking to replace one player whom IRL has unfortunately consumed them.

That said, this is a pretty dedicated game (though we've slowed down a little understandably do to the time of year.) I am looking for a player that can typically do a 1/day and 1/weekend posting rate. This game uses Discord to help keep the flow of information and conversation between GM and players as open as possible.

That all said, to those who wish to apply...here is the link to the original recruitment thread. We are needing a 3rd level character at this point and your character should be a known criminal. I will be conferring with my players on final decision of who to accept.

If you have applied before, please apply with a set of rolls for your character (If you are looking to re-apply with the character you submitted before.)

The recruitment thread is here Original Recruitment Thread

Feel free to read over the gameplay thread to see how the group has ran up till now ^_^. Recruitment will hopefully last about 2 weeks, I will try to check in for any questions as often as possible.

So, I unfortunately had to have another player leave to some differences of play style. It sucks but that is life.

That said, I have another recruitment open already and now I feel I need to make a new recruitment to cover both openings.

Original recruitment

These are the character creation details.

I will be moving all my recruitment to this one from my former recruitment page.

The group is needing a FIghter type most likely and the fifth position is kinda open.

There will be no need for the buffer/healer platform despite there being an absence.

In case you don't wanna click the link:

Posting Requirements: Once per day Monday thru Friday, Once for Saturday or Sunday.

Health: Tadah, my Job as the GM is to attempt to murder you. While I read this is a deadly campaign, I'm gonna leave this a bit up to you. Max first level, Choose from the beginning; Roll the Hit Dice (Reroll on a one) or take half plus one.

Races: All Core, Featured, and Uncommon. (Save Android, Drow
Noble, Kasatha, Lashunta, Svirfneblin, and Triaxian.) No 3PP, and Aasimars will have an appropriate -2 stat added to them.

Alignment: LE, NE, CE (There is one caveat here. You must be willing to work with a group, it's the point of the campaign. Any player that puts an ultimatum down to try and get their way will be asked to leave. You guys are supposed to be a team, I'm supposed to cause chaos.)

Deity: You all if you do worship, must worship Asmodeus. Those with Domain powers will be granted access to most all Domains. (Your evil, you should be allowed unrestricted power.)

Stats: 4d6 drop the lowest, roll one extra set. (This is my favorite, I believe in luck) I reserve the right to roll an extra set on your behalf if I feel you are underpowered by too much. No stat above 20 starting.

Skills: Background Skills and one Free skill per level. As well as one Free Feat that can be any, and One Free Feat that must be non combat. (Please Paizo only feats as with all else, no 3PP)

Traits: Three traits, one of which must be your Crime.

Now then, one final caveat. Everyone will get either a free VMC or a Free Archetype for your class. (You don't lose whatever it requires you to lose.) Please tell me which one you select.

Please state what your freebies are in your crunch for all your choices including what your Background skills are and which one is your free skill.

I'm looking for a reasonable background. You are level one unfortunately so you yourself probably didn't kill twenty orcs but perhaps your ship did and you stood out in some way.

Finally, while you are evil and you're looking to be above the cut..Please don't min/max. We're all here to have fun, beating the AP to death via math isn't that fun and may force me to make things more difficult which in turn may not hurt your character but could be bad for other players cause I won't pull punches.

Once again, I ask that people understand that I am a newer GM but a long time Pathfinder player, so while I understand optimizing I am not allowing Min/Maxed cheese monsters!

One caveat, no grapple monsters, it can ruin all the fun of having a BBG show up when suddenly they're grappled for all eternity till the party can form a kicking circle and kick em to death.

Gold will be 500g for character creation.

All applications from the current recruitment for my fifth player are still valid. See This recruitment page for their submissions.

Name says it all. Love the game concept, love the political intrigue and deadliness of the game all together, hell even love the more "adult" tone to it. Everything is in the Grey area and the winners write the history...

Hopefully someone out there hears my plea and wants to GM a player generated house of asshats!

Greeting and salutation. I started up my game not that long ago and had myself a right fine mix of Villains.

But like all games, player attrition happens and all my Tieflings up and died.

So, I did some thinking and decided that the party needs another member.

Our current party is as follows:
Drack the Nagaji Fighter
Ella the Changeling Bloodrager
Ileosa the Human Inquisitor
Senara the Human Summoner

So as you can see there is a couple of positions that can be filled. But, I have a plan for the one of them to help things along in the long of it.

So, given that the group will not need the role of a Buffer/Healer...We are in need of a 5th to complete the party.

Original Recruitment

You will be level 2 upon joining them but pretty much everything else is the same.

Alright so me and a friend of mine Timeskeeper have attempted this two or three times before. Unfortunately life happens and we lost players and Storytellers each time.

This is a great system, it's dangerous, it's got plenty of lore but still gives the GM an amazing amount of flexibility, and it gives the players a lot of freedom with their individual pursuits.

We would like to establish a house using the House building system built into the Core book.

It's a lot of fun, it helps give all the players something to unite them while still allowing for individuality and personal gain...and it's more fun than each player constantly conspiring against each other. (I mean there may still be some conspiring against each other, it's still Game of Thrones.)

Any takers?

Hopefully I'm doing this all right, should have everything up and dottable soon.

Guilty. You are a lawbreaker – the worst of the worst. Too dangerous to live amongst the good people of Talin-garde, they dragged you in chains before a magistrate and condemned you. They sent you to the worst prison in the land and there they forever marked you. They held you down and branded you with a runic F. You are forsaken.

You won’t be at Branderscar Prison for long. Branderscar is only a holding pen. In three days – justice comes. In three days – everything ends. What a pity. If only there was a way out of this stinking rat-hole. If only there was a way to escape. If only…

No. No one has ever escaped from Branderscar Prison. This is where your story ends.

Hello and welcome to my first ever Recruitment. Some may have seen me here and there as I've been active on the boards for about three years now. With all this in mind, I felt it was time to stop hiding from the idea and give back to the community that has helped me keep my sanity.

But you guys didn't come here to hear any of that, so here are the details for recruitment.

This is for Book 1 for now, but provided the interest is still strong, you guys don't think I suck at this, and we are all still having fun....it'll continue!

Kinda exactly what the title says. I'm thinking about starting to GM on the boards, I figure the best way to do this would of course run an AP. I think PbP is a great way to get my feet wet so to speak as a GM. PbP go a fair bit slower which gives me plenty of time to read and react, I have a LOT of free time as I am unfortunately a medically retired veteran and while I play in a lot of games I still have a lot of free time.

Anyone got any advice? I'm happy to have suggestions of APs to run, general advice, or really anything anyone has to offer or say.

As the title suggests, I really want to play Kingmaker. I've gotten into two games and both died mostly due to players falling out.

I'd love to play in a Kingmaker game with a GM who is interested in doing a 1/day post requirement during the week at least from their players...and enforce it. Now, it's one thing if players give GMs a heads up why they can't make it for a short period of time but honestly, it is only 5 minutes out of the day to check a website, read, and write a response.

Not a must: Personally I prefer random rolling for Stats as it does sound the most like what is reality...which is life is unfair and sometimes you just aren't that strong. Otherwise, I prefer 25 but can handle 20 at the lowest (I don't find 15 pt buy to be fun.)

I understand playing optimized but I prefer other players who aren't Munchkins. Good Roleplay is always encouraged and appreciated and for something where you are asking players to post 1/day personally I think a program like Discord is almost a must. Having an alert can really help others know that the game has updated.

I'm perfectly content with a GM doing their own twist on things and producing a unique version of Kingmaker. (I also completely understand using the updated system from Ultimate Campaign to help take away from some of the bad baggage this game slightly suffers for in it's minigame.)

I appreciate anyone who even reads this post, let alone considers running it.

That said, I prefer to leave most of the requirements for players up to the GM who feels the urge to take up this heavy mantel.

Last Note: I do not necessarily wish to be the king, if the dice roll that way, then that's how they roll but I think with this game in particular it's more important to get a group the GM feels would be active enough and willing to commit and then sit down and discuss what we wish from the Campaign before building actual characters and setting up roles. This game is about cohesion of a group, and with the starting setup it uses it would make sense for like minded individuals to have come together and discussed things rather than a bunch of random people signing a piece of paper and winning a lottery.

Sczarni

Alright...I'm pretty sure this has been answered elsewhere but I'm having a really hard time sifting through all the answers and finding what I am looking for in particular.

So I made a Bloodrager for a campaign I'm in in which we got to roll for our stats. That said, got pretty lucky with my rolls. Got to level 9 as a Bloodrager (Bloodrider). Went with the blood rider mostly cause the campaign is evil and we've got a slew of dragons that got brought in by an evil wizard, some of which have been tamed. (GM pretty cool and lenient let me have a Dragonne for my mount so long as I took Boon Companion and Leadership)

So, Catfolk with claws (1d4), gain claws when raging (should they stack? 1d4 becomes 1d6, grows to 1d8 because of level, then grows to 2d4 because of level?) and we leveled up after killing a Kraken. Took my first level in Dragon Disciple.

How does that work, I have an Arcane Heritage magic chest piece (for the +4 to Draconic bloodline). Does my equivalent Bloodline level of 14 go straight in to the DD tree and I get all the powers below the 15 mark? (I assume this because you can't get to 20 lest you include 10 levels of bloodline somehow and the only way you can do that is through Sorc or Bloodrager.) So am I right in that I would gain +4 Str, +2 Con, +2 Int, +3 Nat Armor, Blindsense 60ft, Wings, and another upgrade to my claws?

Does anyone else see this as kinda evil? I mean, in order to do it you either have to use like oil of taggit to put the poor thing under to ease any suffering it might have or any non compliance it might offer or you have to convince with speak with animals which I would think would be a hard sell. In a game with alchemists running rampant and what not....isn't there a more....respectful and safe idea towards the animal? I'm wanting this for a ranger character of mine who will be taking a boa constrictor as his animal companion (With the Racer archetype). Now true I could easily choose a different animal companion but it just seems so fun and interesting. Any thoughts?

Sczarni

I say this, I've done a minor bit in Dark Heresy but it kinda petered out rather quickly so I didn't really get very much experience. I have been reading up on the format and I find that it would really help keep my mind from becoming mush and keep my creativity flowing. I have a rather heavy amount of time on my hands so I would be able to post several times a day.

I personally would be interested in playing one of the following campaigns if a GM would be interested and willing to run one of them:

Legacy of Fire
Skull & Shackles
Reign of Winter

I will say that I have actually played Skull and Shackles before, but I feel it would be a lot different with a different GM and a different rallying Captain.

If there are any GMs out there that are willing to give a newbie to PbP a chance and are interested in starting up a game I would be very happy to play.

Sczarni

Ok so, here is a question because frankly I'm confused. My thoughts are to play a catfolk alchemist as my next adventuring character. My normal GM is pretty open to anything, but we are all pretty heavy bout keeping the rules done right.

Catfolk get a lovely alternate ability that I am fond of, Cat's claws. It gives you a 1d4 natural weapon on each hand. Lovely, early game extra damage for survival sake. Stack that with Cat folk Exemplar feat for Sharp Claws, now your lovely claws are 1d6 weapons (not amazing but hey I like it).

Here comes the complicated and tricky part...Feral mutagen. Lovely lovely mutagen if you are making a Ragechemist Melee Monster. (Which is what I'm aiming for with this character). Now then, the mutagen and I quote "Benefit: Whenever the alchemist imbibes a mutagen, he gains two claw attacks and a bite attack. These are primary attacks and are made using the alchemist’s full base attack bonus. The claw attacks deal 1d6 points of damage (1d4 if the alchemist is Small) and the bite attack deals 1d8 points of damage (1d6 if the alchemist is Small). While the mutagen is in effect, the alchemist gains a +2 competence bonus on Intimidate skill checks."

Now then all that lovely information added together equals....What is the rule standing on this, is it suddenly I am a raging beast of flying claws and teeth (IE do I have 4 claw attacks at 1D6 and a bite of 1d8). Or am I just the daggers for nails (since you start claws at 1d4 and go to 1d6, does it go to 1d8 or 1d10?).

If I could get some clarification that would be amazing. It's just a character concept at the moment but I like the idea even if it only ends up being just 3 natural attacks.

Sczarni

This sounds silly, but I wasn't really thinking about it fully when I was going over rebuilding one of my favorite characters I've played that died in a campaign for PFS. I have remade my Poor Bowman Cleric for PFS and played one session with him but the more I look at him the more upset I am about having changed his domains, since only one session has been done am I allowed to make the changes to diety and domains or do I just need to rebuild and start from scratch?

Sczarni

I can't seem to find a game to be able to play online and the group that we have in the Joplin, MO area only seems to play on the last Saturday of the Month. That is unfortunately not enough Pathfinder to sooth the savage beast inside me. All that being said, I am a player who uses Hero Labs (Which from what I have seen really helps prevent me from accidentally using feats and such that aren't allowed). I am hoping that someone might better assist me in finding a game that is accepting players online or in my area. (Even if a group in my area were just doing Pathfinder and not PFS, I would still be interested). If anyone has any information or is in need of a healer type (I generally don't fully focus healing as it can tend to be quite boring that way) I would greatly appreciate it. I apologize ahead of time if I have broken any posting rules or posted in the absolute worst place. ^^
