Hello and welcome to my LEGENDARY table for Outpost III: Putting on the Ritz. We will be playing the soon-to-be recently-released stand-alone adventure, A Night at Bloodthorne Manor. Come on in and introduce yourself, player!

Also, let's chat openly about what you'll be using to make your deck - class decks, add-on decks (i.e. ultimate decks), and the newly-released adventurer's packs are all valid options.

What's in YOUR deck?

This is the starting line!

And there YOU are.

Hallo! Welcome to my Heroic Level table of City of Shrouds and Sails, the 1st Adventure within the Season of Rotting Ruins!

Gameday VIII runs from August 26 to November 3.

Please read below for some information on how I run my tables. By getting everyone on the same page, we can make the game run a lot more smoothly :)

Some ground expectations:
1. Try to post at least once a day in order to keep things moving. If you are going to be unavailable for an extended period of time, please ensure that your deck handler is linked and available for other players, and provide instructions so that other players can bot your turn. I recommend putting the link in your alias Profile, in the Class line. Wrap it in the url tags so it turns into a link -- see "How to format your text" below the reply box for details on how to do that if you aren't sure
2. Do not wait around for my scenario update posts, just base your turn around the most recent update plus what other players have done since then. I'll get a scenario update out once per day unless there is nothing to update. I'll have other (non-update) posts interspersed throughout the day as needs require.
3. There are no take-backs or retcons, with exception of invalid plays/turns. Use resources wisely, and keep in mind the other perks you get in Organised Play such as accessory re-rolls and hero points.

Things that make gameplay smoother:
1. If a location is shuffled, you can continue to examine or explore cards in it by rolling a die to see which card you examine/explore. No need to wait on me to post an update first with the shuffled deck.
2. When encountering a card, be very explicit in what card you are encountering. This helps other players at the same location know where you left off so they don't accidentally encounter the same cards that you just got through and have to re-do their turn.
3. Use your Notes section to describe any cards or powers that can be used to assist other players on their turns and that you are willing to use. If you post that certain cards are available for use, have the card text available somewhere for other players to reference.
4. When something impacts another player (a power that affects all characters at your location, or you're playing one of their cards), bold that thing so that it stands out.

Things that make deck upgrades smoother:
1. Write a list of your 2-5 most desired deck upgrades, in order, and roll 1d1000 for each of them. If you have any conditions on the upgrade, such as "I'll take this only if nobody else wants it or if my planned card X is better than anyone else's planned card" make a note of those as well.
2. That will let us look through those lists and see how we can get everyone their #1 preferred upgrade without lots of times lost in back-and-forth. If people are fighting over an upgrade, the d1000 roll is used to determine who gets it (highest roll wins).
3. You are free to disregard this and discuss upgrades normally; but try to keep discussions to 2 days at most so that we can move on to the next scenario in time.

Hallo! If you're one of my players, please introduce yourself in character here.

Hello! I'm your BR Dinketry! Welcome to Korvosa!

Or rather, welcome to my PACS (oooh shiny and new!) table for the Cards Against Gnomanity DOS event of Curse of the Crimson Throne!

*sound the trumpet fanfare*

I'm familiarising myself with all things Harrowed and Cinderish; please check out the new Core rules (as linked in the Campaign Info tab) if you need to do so, as we will be using the new PACS rules for this scenario.

This is the out-of-character thread, so give it some thought and post an intro here. I'd suggest answering the following questions:

  • What's your name?
  • What character are you playing?
  • What's your experience with play by post (PbP)?
  • What's your experience with PACS (Pathfinder Adventure Card Society)?
  • What's your experience with the adventure card game (organised play notwithstanding)?
  • Where are you, geographically? When do you usually post?

As this event is part of a convention, we will be somewhat time-limited, so I must ask that you check the thread daily and post promptly. In order to keep things smoothly running, I'm going to suggest that we all use Discord. Click on this link to get to our Discord channel!

Here's the Discussion thread for our Season of the Plundered Tombs. This will no doubt be filled with sand by the time we're done here.

    Grand Lodge

Oh, hello there! Are you looking for some ACG goodness? Well, you've come to the right place. We are looking for a few hearty souls to join us for Season 3 of the ACG., but there is one rule that you must follow in order to submit a character for consideration to my table. I will be a bit authoritarian with adherence to my lone rule.

Pick a single character to play. The ACG world is your oyster and you have access to many different decks, each with at least one unique character to play. Here's where you place your bet: you must choose one ACG character to play. Please remind me which class or add-on deck that your character is from when you submit them. As your tomb guide, I will put together a party for the ages. We have three possible seats available to claim at this table - a few seats have already been spoken for. I'm specifically providing no information on what characters the others will be playing.

And that's really it. Good luck with your choice and thanks for reading in advance!

Hello and welcome to my table!

    Nakondis Maps | Pesh Fields

You are down on your luck. You may be broke, you may be stuck in a rut, you may be recently dumped - whatever your specific situation, the story of your demise is one to be told over the inebriation-inducing beverage of your choice, but not just yet. What is more, you are also stuck on Absalom Station. While Absalom Station may or may not be your home, your impoverished state does not bode well for your career ambitions or your likelihood of spiritual regeneration.

You have sought out work as a means to escape Absalom Station. Capitalism is alive and well in all sectors of the Pact Worlds, largely buoyed by those just like you. It did not take you too long to find gainful employment, but just like any thing that seems too good to be true, there were invisible strings attached: in this case, a contract.

AbadarCorp, the largest corporation in the Pact Worlds, has recently uncovered records detailing a staging outpost that it abandoned centuries ago in Near Space. The outpost was one of many sponsored by AbadarCorp during the post-Drift colonisation rush three centuries ago. The organisation deemed the outpost as a low-priority endeavour mainly due to its abandonment and relative lack of impact on the organisation’s modern enterprises, but now they would like to employ a team to travel to the site (named Colony-753), secure it, and retrieve or salvage any data or equipment found there. You were hired (or sub-contracted) for just this job.

AbadarCorp has authorised your team the use of a Kevolari Venture explorer ship complete with a Drift engine in order to complete your contracted mission. Your contract further obligates you to complete at least two further missions for AbadarCorp as a means of mitigating the potential costs of hiring an unproven crew and leasing their corporate starship for your use.

With this job, you will at least be able to get away from the embarrassment of your present state on Absalom Station, and hey - an exploration such as this might be quite interesting, or it could be quite boring. Nevertheless, one day you will return - that is, if you decide that you want to do so. In the mean time, the stars are the limit.

Hey y'all. Go ahead and check in here when you're ready!

    Grand Lodge

Are you a drunk Shimoda? Statistics show that 1 in 5 are, so if you're not, then one of your crewmates is likely to be!

This recruitment is for a Starfinder adventure (more about that later) for those who want to break a few glass-topped tables and know how we like our Hoosnocks. You don't have to be down with the Warm Honeyed Bosom and you don't have to tell us what side of the fence you fall on Raz vs Plaveem - hell, you could even be in the pocket of Big Rod for all I care but you absolutely must know what the *&%^% I'm talking about in order to submit an expression of interest.

This recruitment will be unlike most others in that I don't know what we're playing yet - I just want to get my Dustbuster Club assembled and then we can decide if we are playing Against the Aeon Throne (3 chapter AP), Dead Suns (6 chapter AP), or a series of SFS scenarios. We'll have our own McLaughlin Group to decide how we roll.

Interested? It'll cost you no scarves to send me an email to we.be.dunedinpfs@gmail.com, but you'll need to prove you know what we're on about: tell me the name of the person who wrote the OG theme song that Ben and Adam gloriously appropriated as the subject line to your email. Once I get five people on my Mount Armus, we'll take the Winnebago out for a spin! Or perhaps the Previa.

    Cheers!

    Welcome to Osirion, Deck Masters!

cartmanbeck (Aric), Elinnea (Erasmus), David C (Lazzero), and Jen D (????): I'm so very excited that you've allowed me to run a box for you. We're going to have a great time.

I'm stealing audaciously from those who've gone before me. The following checklist comes from Yewstance. Please consider the following in the lead-up to our game (starting on July 9th - or July 10th if you're in New Zealand like me!)

  • 1. Choose your character: If you haven't picked a character yet and you're not sure who to play, post here and the rest of us can help you out! If you want to discuss a possible change of character to the team, you can also do so here.
  • 2. PFS ID: You'll need to have a Pathfinder Society Player ID and Character ID. You'll be able to find (or generate) your Player ID on this page. Once you have a Player ID, click the "Register a New Card Game Character" button on the same page to create a character ID. Once you're finished, you'll end with a number something like this: 123456-1001. I'll need that number from you in order to fill out your Chronicle Sheets and report our game sessions.
  • 3. Verify Deck Ownership: Make sure you verify your class deck ownership as instructed here. If you have any accessories that give in-game perks (promo cards, t-shirts, character mats, etc) that you would like to use, please have those verified as well.
  • 4. Slack - I'm going to use Slack to handle questions that need immediate (or near-immediate) answers. Slack is a free app that can be used on your computer or handheld device. If everyone is on board with this, then I'll email you a link that you can use to join the Slack channel for our game (Of course, we can use the Discussions thread if a question or comment does not need immediate feedback.)
  • 5. Organized Play rules: If you're not familiar with the Organized Play rules, please read through the Guide. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Additionally, if you have any questions about standard rules (such as how a particular character power works), feel free to ask about that as well. The Mummy's Mask ACG guide is useful as well.
  • 6. Starting Deck: The next step is building your deck! The rules for building your starting deck are in the Organized Play Guide, but basically for new Tier 1 characters, all cards in your deck must come from your class deck (and/or any one Ultimate deck box) and be B-deck cards with the Basic trait.
  • 7. Deck Tracker: In order to track your deck, you are free to use any method you like. I strongly recommend using a copy of this Google spreadsheet (click "File", and then "Make a Copy"). Basic instructions for the spreadsheet are here. I would also suggest using Column O in the "Don't Look" tab for the card text for your cards, so you don't need to keep the physical cards handy. If you need any help setting things up, just let me know and I will definitely give you a hand.
Feel free to modify your Deck Handler if you feel it makes it more usable or helpful, or use someone else's modified Deck Handlers. I can also give a go at writing in specific functionality you might want to implement, if it's reasonably simple.
  • 8. Turn order: To start with, it's usually easy to order turns based on timezone and when you are most likely going to be able to post a turn. Please let me know what time zone you are in, and what time(s) of day you're most likely to be active. If you have a specific request for your turn order, post it here.

    ADVENTURE 1: Chasing Yellow Sails

Still recovering from the fierce battle for Absalom, the Pathfinder Society was appalled to hear reports that a former ally—onetime faction leader Pasha Muhlia al-Jakri—helped coordinate the betrayal and subsequent two-pronged attack that had threatened the city. Though citizens, soldiers, and Pathfinders alike rose up to thwart the foul plot, the assassin al-Jakri managed a narrow escape. Not only is the Pathfinder Society embarrassed to have trusted a betrayer for so many years, but it is horrified that she used Society connections to nearly bring Absalom to its knees. Uncertain whether she may possess other secrets or allies, the Pathfinder Society desperately needs to track down and capture al-Jakri before she can hatch any other sinister plots. You have been set the task of bringing her to justice.

After some preliminary investigation, it becomes clear that most of al-Jakri’s lieutenants perished in the battle. There is one who was seen escaping, however: a Keleshite man named Satyar Siddique. He was last seen boarding a ship that was then intercepted by a large galley bearing the infamous yellow sails of an Okeno slaving ship. Siddique is now undoubtedly being ferried to Stonespine Island off the coast of Katapesh to be auctioned off at Okeno’s notorious Fleshfairs markets where slaves of all races and nationalities are sold like chattel. If the Society wants any chance of stopping anything al-Jakri may be setting in motion, you must track down Siddique and convince him to share what he knows. Every moment you delay brings him a greater risk of being traded, tortured, or killed by slavers who are unaware how valuable he is.

Venture-Captain Roderus of the Winding Road Lodge, one of the Pathfinder Society’s local headquarters in Katapesh, has done all he can to equip you for your mission and warn you of the cruel gnolls that are seen as villains elsewhere yet are welcome in Okeno. You’ll cross to Stonespine Island on a merchant ship, and from there you must keep a low profile to avoid unwanted attention. Into the Yellow City of Okeno you must go, with hopes you will not fall to a slaver’s noose.

    During this Adventure:
  • The scourge die is 1d4+1.
  • When creating the blessings deck, replace 1 blessing with the support card Liberty’s Edge Favor (proxy with Defensive Stance).
  • If the result of your first check to defeat of your turn exceeds the difficulty by 7 or more, shuffle a monster from the box into your location deck.
  • Adventure Reward:
Each player unlocks the ability to play Crowe from the Wrath of the Righteous Character Add-On Deck using the Magus Class Deck.

Please tell me a few things:

    Your name (for the Chronicle)
    Character Name
    PFS Number & Character Number
    Faction
    Track (Normal vs. Slow)
Dayjob Roll or Faction Card goal efforts

If you need the Season 9 Faction Cards, it's a free download HERE.

Also, be sure that you're square on this being a Standard game (NOT CORE).

Your APL (average party level) is 1.5, so you're squarely in the lower tier for this game.

I'll use the avatar associated with your character name for maps unless you tell me otherwise.

Cool? We'll start when all six of you have checked in.

You've been roused from your idle pursuits by the Society to make your way to Oppara, capital city of Taldor at the behest of Muesello, the clandestine Venture-Captain of the City of Empire. Your instructions have led you to the docks in Oppara, and (to some of you) a familiar mundane-appearing bait and tackle shop. Surprise twist!!!

    Grand Lodge

Hello everyone! I've been inspired by some of our forward-thinking GMs who are running Scarab Sage sessions in preparation for the appearance of the Concordance Faction later this year. I like prepping for what's to come, so I'm going to let you warm your bones with some Taldan political steam in preparation for the War for the Crown AP (expected in February).

This will be an intrigue-heavy, roleplaying-intensive scenario. Your axe-potato Kellid barbarian who speaks not a word of Taldane will likely find this adventure doesn't whet their blade. You're also going to be working in an urban environment, so your grippli druid with the axe beak mount and the deinoychus animal companion is going to be similarly-stymied. Choose your submitted character wisely. This scenario has Sovereign Court faction implications, but please don't limit yourself based purely on that.

How am I going to Recruit? I'm going to let you wow me with your one-line submission. If you've got more than one interested character, then give me more than one submission. Consider me to have a short-attention span; I'm not going to read more than 2-3 lines of your post (meant with love and --- oh, look! A bird!)

Is this Core or Standard? It could be either, depending on what people feel like.

Is this subtler 1-2 or subtler 4-5? Yes. See above.

What do I want in PbP gamers? I want the same that every PbP GMs want: absolute deification. Barring that, I want consistent and polite posters (1x/day at the least) who let me know when I need to GM-Bot them (ahead of time) and who portray their fleshed-out character with humour and soul (and humour).

When is the deadline for submission? The deadline for submission will be when I feel that I've got 5-6 suitable gamers, but I could be goaded into starting up the game as early as January 5th if people are piranha-esque in snapping up the spots.

I'm completely new to this. Can I join? I'm relatively new to all this as well! Well, parts of me are. I mean, parts of this. YES! Don't let my sarcasm scare you away; my doors are wide open to any and all. If you need assistance with PbP (play-by-post) PFS (Pathfinder Society) posting, might I suggest GM Tyrannius' sage words?

    Anything else? Nope! Good luck!

    Soundtrack for the opening scene

"Clearance for shuttle Okimoro confirmed. Proceed along flight pattern to dock 94."

Idar the Houseless sat in the jump-seat, watching through the window as the asymmetrical, six-pointed star moved out of far-focus into more specific structural features. The central core of the space station - known as the Eye - remained at the centre of focus, the forcefield dome highlighting skyscrapers and green trees set against the blackness of space. The shuttle moved smoothly towards the Arms, metallic rays housing dozens of different docks and bays ranging in size and function. In between the Arms and the Eye sat concentric rings of further metallic-grey structures known as the Ring. Only five miles in diameter, the structure of Absalom Station was well-known throughout the known galaxy, but still majestic to behold.

Idar shifted in the seat as the shuttle hewed close to the entry port of its docking bay, the artificial gravity pulling in ways that space hadn't during the flight. With a sideways peer out the window, the unique architectural feature of Absalom Station known as the Spike became more clearly viewed. The tapering pillar dropped down from the station’s central disk, its surface a thrum of blinking lights clustered densely near the tip.

The shuttle touched down with a soft clunk. Idar glanced up at the other four shuttle passengers, noting a lashunta with a curiously-familiar face collecting her positions from the bulkhead as she checked her personal comm-link. The shuttle intercom crackled to life once more, the android pilot of the shuttlecraft speaking to the passengers as the landing gear deployed.

"Okimoro mooring successful. Standard AS gravity in place. Please disembark to the forward of the shuttlecraft. Welcome to Absalom Station. May the Beacon guide your days and ways."

    *************************************************************************** ************

August Vydoc strode through docking bay 93 en route to the subsequent bay. A riot of people crowded the disembarkment area - vesk, human, lashunta, android, nuar - and August catalogued each as he moved past, intent on the sign indicating the entrance to loading dock 94 up ahead. His implanted comm device registered that the estimated time of arrival on the current path was to be two minutes late at the present velocity of ambulation. August's stride grew slightly quicker.

    *************************************************************************** ************

Jaxom Sandstrom stood in the service lift as it descended to docking bay 94, his kit outfitted, his heart thumping faster than normal in his chest. The dwarf had called for him! The thought repeated in his head as he fastidiously adjusted his straps. There had been no news regarding his request for off-world work for so long, and now this official Starfinder electro-document arrived - pre-emptively opened by his nosy mother - with the prior agreed-upon call for his action. The lift slowed as a dull ding rang out, indicating Jaxom's arrival at dock 94. The lift doors glided opened.

    Jaxom, a Perception check, please.

    *************************************************************************** ************

Telion of Castrovel sat rear-facing on the Astro-Seg, gliding effortlessly through the loading docks towards his target location. The muscular lashunta relaxed as he reviewed the cryptic message from the dwarf Kreel in his mind. "Let me make things right." What could that mean? Telion passively watched the varied races slide by as the vehicle moved through the taxi lane, Loading Bay 94 looming into view. A large shuttlecraft was in the process of de-pressuring its hatch - perhaps these were the prospective Starfinders that Kreel spoke about? Telion looked around for a dwarf, not exactly remembering Kreel's face, but trusting that a dwarf would stand out from the others on the dock.

Telion, please make a Perception check for me.

    *************************************************************************** *************

"i'm outside your shuttlecraft on the opposite side of the loading bay. so soon; we can finally meet!"

Diamaante glanced with a flat expression at her personal comm, the instant message fading from the screen. The dwarf hopefully wouldn't be too much of a problem - perhaps he would understand that she was using him for a specific purpose. Hopefully he wouldn't need to be 'handled'. The lashunta kept her eyes on her possessions as she readied for shuttle exit, avoiding looking at the other passengers on board. "The first rule of celebrity is not to be spotted; Avoid direct glances." - Bunny's cardinal rules floated through the damaya's mind as she sauntered out of the popped shuttle hatch in front of the gathered passengers, her scarf-wrap over her head for further obfuscation.

Diamaante, a Perception check from you as well, please.

    Space.

    The NEXT frontier.

These are the voyages of the starship Sunrise Maiden.

That is, they WILL be once I get these dang power converters installed properly.

For now, I have three questions for you lucky lot:

  • 1.) What's your relationship with a dwarf named Duravor Kreel? Be as detailed as you want to be.
  • 2.) What role would you likely play in your ship's crew? What would be your secondary role?
  • 3.) What's your favourite colour?

The answers you choose will tell me all I need to know. Expect a private message in the next day or so. In the meantime, get me your SFS ID numbers (*ahem* August, Telion, Idar *ahem*) and your character sheet - or a PDF of your character sheet - to:

    "Are you receiving?"

This week at GenCon, the Starfinder Voyage sets off on its maiden journey! Hundreds, if not thousands of gamers, will crack open their shiny! books, strap on their flight vests, and toggle their laser side-arms to "be stunned". You may or may not have had a chance to test out the waters of space, but this Adventure Path will surely fill that Gap.

    "Turn your thrusters on."

When a brutal gang war breaks out on a docking bay in Absalom Station, the player characters are recruited by the Starfinder Society to investigate the unexpected bloodshed. Delving into the station’s seedy Spike neighborhoods, the heroes confront the gangs and discover that both were paid to start the riot and that the true conflict is between two rival mining companies battling over a new arrival in orbit around the station: a mysteriously deserted ship and the strange asteroid it recovered from the Drift. To head off further violence, the heroes are asked to investigate the ship and discover what happened to its crew, as well as the nature of the asteroid it tows. But what the players find there will set in motion events that could threaten the entirety of the Pact Worlds and change the face of the galaxy forever...

    "We're standing by."

I'm super-excited to launch this AP on the PbP boards. I've been reading my way through the Core Rulebook as well as the first volume of the Dead Suns storyline - Incident at Absalom Station - and I think players are going to have a grand time as they bring themselves up to warp-speed. I have specifications to lay on you:

  • This AP is for 4 player characters. I will recruit 4 PCs.
  • You must have a copy of the Starfinder Core Rulebook, in physical or digital form. You must read it. No other products are necessary.
  • You will be buying Ability Scores. Instructions are clear in the Starfinder Core Rulebook.
  • You will be working with/for the Starfinder Society in this AP. You will not be an evil character.
  • I'm discovering and uncovering this world right alongside you. We will screw it up. We will make mistakes. If this bothers you, I suggest awaiting another ship for your ride into the Cosmos.
  • I am annoyingly regular with my posts. I expect you to be as well - at least once daily. If you don't think you can post at least once daily, then there are other ships.

    "There's no reply."

Still here? Good: we may have a space for your butt in one of these seats. Want to try to impress me with your submission? Use the Starfinder character sheet - a free download here on the Paizo boards. I'm going to leave this recruitment open for any and all submissions that meet my criteria until Thursday August 24th at 12:01, EST Good luck, and may the Force be with you.

    Hello!

I'm brand new to PbP GM-craft, and relatively new to PbP in general, but golly do I think a good entry point would be this awesome new quest series.

We will be playing this Classic style, and I would prefer a low-table to start. I would ask for patience with my less-than-agile ways this first game, and invite any and all to offer suggestions on the technical aspects of this interface as we go.

I'm opening the floodgates here. No Google sign-up doc just yet (I'll figure that out later), so pitch me your character, including your Pathfinder Society #, in this thread.

I'll keep the floodgates open until I get the first 10, and I'll sort 6 of those into a decent party. I'm optimistic about this given the likely popularity of this brand-new quest series.

BTW, this quest series can be run at different adventures, but is ONLY replayable at 1st level. For confirmation of this, It's Straight Outta Compton!

That will be the best joke I have for this entire thread.

    Good luck, all

    Dear One and All,

'What?!' you might say. 'Why is there a post about PaizoCon Oz in 2017?' 'What does the "Oz" stand for?' 'Why do I care about 2017 when I'm just treading water, trying to get through 2016 without any more GoT or Stranger Things episodes to watch?'

Well, my media-addicted friends, I have answers for you.

PaizoCon Oz is the official Paizo convention of the Australasian branch of your Pathfinder brethren. We run games not just in Australia, but in Singapore, Vanuatu, Fiji, and New Zealand. Heck, I even tried to run a game once on the Cook Islands, though I basically wound up running through the Beginner's Box with my wife (she's a sport).

I digress. New Zealand will be the site of PaizoCon Oz 2017, running from October 13-15 in lovely Matamata on the North Island.

'Why should I care?' you may wonder. 'Why did I continue to read this far down?'

Matamata is the home of Hobbiton, my geeky friends. Yes, THAT Hobbiton. The Shire. Bilbo and Frodo's home village. And it is REAL. It is the movie set featured in all six of the Lord of the Rings movies.

And we're going to be gaming there. October 2017. Want more info?

    Here!

This is a Bucket List Gaming Event. Included in the registration is a tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set. The Pathfinder Society Special event on Saturday night, October 14, will be headquartered at the Green Dragon Inn. Your inner fanboy will never forget this one Con to skew them all.

Drop us an email at paizoconoz2017@gmail.com. Glen and I will happily answer any of your emails. We made this event especially family-friendly, so Gamer Widows and Family are doubly invited.

Grab a Great Eagle or a Smaug; hitch a ride on the back of Gollum or Sméagol. Just get yourself to Hobbiton in New Zealand October 13-15 for the gaming event of the Fourth Age.

Has anyone picked up the new Gary Gygax biography that was just released? (Michael Witwer is the author) I've read two reviews - one positive, one negative - and I'm curious about opinions from any of our walking biographical canons out there.
