GM, I think you've led us on a fine adventure for well over three years now. I am grateful for all that you've given us.

Fellow adventurers, I wish you all nothing but the best. It is sad to be ending this game, but I think we've had fun, and I'm happy to be taking that with me.

I will exit alongside the GM from this campaign. I wish y'all the best in your future endeavours.

I was thinking that the ink would prevent the eels from continuing to be able to attack Deric. Apologies, but I definitely don't feel any shame.

Apologies for the delay.

Sally, Solly, and Sully all attack their respective eels with a bite and two tentacles each. In addition, the each secrete a 5 foot radius of black ink into the water, obscuring themselves completely!

Any successful tentacle gives me a free grab attack. I’ll roll a number of them and put them in a spoiler tag, GM. Use them as they are needed in the order that I rolled them.

"AHHH!" Squint shouts as he sees the warrior savaged by numerous eels. "Summoning coming!"

Summon Monster III: 1d3 ⇒ 3 YES! Welcome Sally, Solly, and Sully Squid to the party!

Three celestial squids appear in the water near the inert form of Deric.

GM, do they get full actions on my initiative? I've made three squid icons and inserted them on the map.

I'm awaiting an initiative indication for Squint's turn.

Squint can summon aquatic creatures, but I need to dismiss Ulyi first. Aquatic creatures coming next round.

"What?" Squint calls out from where he's trying to pilot the boat. "Oh! Eels? Yeah!" His non-specific comments seem to be a reply to Paeral's request.

"Sorry, Ulyi. AWAY!"

The eidolon winks out of existence.

"Two ticks!" Squint says, still pulling at the steering pole of the boat.

Profession Sailor: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Standard action to dismiss Ulyi. Move action to Pilot the boat.

Apologies. I could’ve sworn that I posted, but it didn’t show.

Squint uses his time as a sailor to try to bring the boats closer together, piloting the non-Barkot vessel.

Profession Sailor check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

”Hold on, Barkot!”

Will Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 (That's a 27 if it's a fear effect.)

Squint groans.

"Uh-oh...."

He points out what he can see of the runes.

"Those are conjuration runes....I'm not sure what they do. Be on guard."

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Squint casts detect magic, hoping these walls don't emanate radiant dweomers like within the Crow. He clambers up on top of Ulyi inside the boat, trying to peer at the remains of the poor unfortunate souls.

In pain, in need.

Squint and Ulyi head back towards the boats.

"This place is just odd. Like, a relic out of time." The halfling looks about helplessly. "I can't help but think that we're being toyed with, even if that combat with the giant went our way."

Squirt does a cursory search as well.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

"I would be angry at that if it wasn't so witty, you jerk." Squint ruffles the feathers on top of Ulyi's head.

"Who cares about a big chair? It's not magic or anything --- THAT REALLY REEKS. I don't care about those gems in the least; we should leave them."

"Thank you, Kylee! Again! You're a legend." Squint looks very pleased.

Squint avoids the chests, but expresses interest in the platinum plaque.

"That'll be worth some coin, and we wouldn't have to barf to get it," the halfling remarks. "Barkot, do you recognise any of these names?" The summoner considers the names, attempting to piece through his knowledge of the outer planes for any sparks of recognition.

Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Squint takes a vicious slice, then almost immediately gets healed by Kylee.

"Many thanks!" calls out the front-line summoner. "For Chaldira!"

Loose one hand from the lance. Cast a spell defensively.

Casting Defensively (19): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 SUCCESS!

The halfling ducks behind Ulyi's head to hide his sly summoning, and a mass of diminutive spiders blossoms from Squint's free hand.

Squint has cast whip of spiders.

"Ulyi! Press our advantage!"

As Barkot swings, Squint urges Ulyi to charge.

"For House Nirodin!"

Charge. Using a point of adaptable luck here (+3).

Melee Charge, Silver Weapon: 1d20 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 3 = 272d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3) + 4 = 12

Squint casts a spell and hastens Ulyi a bit closer to the pit.

"Steady, everyone!" Squint calls out.

Casting guidance on himself. Moved Ulyi on the map.

Is there a reason that our crack shot is not taking a crack shot?

And no, cover is not a valid reason.

And the rest of us should be buffing, if at all possible.

"Paeral, you should take a shot," Squint calls out. "That giant will not avoid attacking us once the pit de-materialises."

Seriously, Paeral should take a shot.

In the meantime, Squint buffs Ulyi with a spell.

Casting celestial companion on Ulyi.

Squint sets his lance for a charge and has Ulyi trot up to an appropriate spot.

”Stay out of my charging lane! If you want, I can end the pit spell now, or someone can start shooting a giant fish in a barrel!”

Readied charge.

"Someone please clear out the remaining lizards so that I might charge at the giant should it find its way out of my pit!"

Ulyi needs a clear lane, please.

Squint lashes out with his lance.

"Back!"

I feel very bad for the tusked giant servitor to Sorshen who fell down a pit before getting a chance to crush us.

Wait a sec. No, I don’t!

Linguistics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

"Yeah, I don't like that. Ulyi, our time is now."

Squint begins casting a spell as Ulyi moves them both into the room, avoiding the lizard.

A hole appears in the floor around the large creature at the end of the room.

Create pit. It has a fairly large range (~160ft). 30 feet in depth. A DC 15 Reflex save to avoid it, but the giant is flat-footed as hasn't gone yet in combat. *tee hee*

"That giant mentioned something about Sorshen," Squint says off-handedly. He then readies his lance.

Apologies. I’ll get to this ASAP.

Squint fidgets uncomfortably atop Ulyi.

"I JUST summoned him!" Squint whines a bit in answer to Barkot's question. "Do you think he won't fit?"

Does Ulyi fit on one of the boats, GM?

”I think I’m going to summon Ulyi now,” Squint squeaks, and does so, with all haste.

"I think you'll find that the word is 'prostrate,'" Squint stiffly corrects as he slides off his eidolon.

"This is mildly kinky," Squint squeaks, blushing red.

As Paëral disappears, Squint gasps. "Well. I guess that worked. Uh.....Ulyi....would you----"

”Oh,” Squint blinks, a goofy smile crossing over his face, ”the secret stairwell. That’s my choice - most definitely. I’m an adventurer, after all!”

”Wow!” Squint claps aloud as the secret door opens. ”Great work, everyone!”

He peers at the stairwell with uncertainty.

”So why is it hidden?”

I am completely lost.

Paeral is checking out a series of rooms, one of which is covered in frost.

Kylee is talking about a sauna room with a grey flame.

I don't know where we are on a map, or where either of the two above characters are.

Could we get a GM post to catch us up, please?

”Eh?” Squint grunts in response to Kylee. ”Oh, yes. I mean, no, good morning, yes.” He seems confused.

"Yeah, nah," Squint replies in a helplessly unhelpful fashion. "No can do, chum."

Squint produces a wand from his pack and activates it as he touches Ulyi. He frowns when the wand goes *poof* in his hand and dissolves into a pile of ash on the ground.

"That's the last of that wand," Squint announces.

Cast mage armor on Ulyi. I think it was a CL 3rd item, so that gives Ulyi 3hrs of the spell.

Squint gets up, a bit quieter than usual. He appears to have slept poorly. He summons Ulyi to his side immediately upon waking - something he doesn't normally do unless absolutely needed. He then spends a good deal of time re-packing Ulyi's saddle bags.

Squint relaxes visibly as Jasper leaves.

"You've got to be able to rely on your crew members in a storm," he quotes to no one in particular.

I walk the line between player and character a bit fine sometimes. In my defence, I am from Philly, much like Joe O’Brien from the Glass Cannon Podcast.

True regarding the healing, but Squint was unconscious, so wasn't exactly sure who had healed him. I am as a player, but Squint's indignant rage is a bit white-hot right now.

Kudos to you, GM, for playing Jasper so well!

So manoeuvring that boat wasn't an encounter, GM? I have a problem with considering anything that isn't combat as a non encounter.....

Also, Jasper is simply exasperating. "Let's give the PCs an NPC ally who does nothing but predict death and decay, and when it comes to encounters, there's a 75% chance that he does nothing helpful, but he'll use up your healing at an inordinate rate and be COMPLETELY USELESS."

If I were a NEUTRAL-aligned character, I would gut him and piss on his corpse.

Just my rainbow-hued two cents as a player. Not Squint.

"I have no further spells of note to offer for the day," Squint points out, "but I can dismiss Ulyi and re-summon him after climbing up that shaft and getting outside to rest. Anything that allows us to rid ourselves of dead, doomsaying-weight is my vote."

You don't need to look at Squint to see him staring at Jasper with those last words.

There is plenty that Squint is confused about, GM. I know and you know that Ulyi isn’t healed upon return to their home plane (unless they are killed, in which case they return the next day when summoned with half their HP). Squint is confused.

The halfling and Ulyi ignore the fracas surrounding Jasper, trying to concentrate on keeping watch.

Squint looks at Paeral with open contempt.

"He HEALED Ulyi's wounds? HE WHAT?! That lame-brained excuse for worm food attacked my eidolon. Ulyi defended himself and knocked him out WHILE we were still battling those demons and you were locked in a room with that flying incubus. I dismissed my Ulyi back to his own plane of existence where he was healed."

Squint fixes Jasper with a hateful stare.

"He is useless. Do you hear me, you sad wretch? YOU, Jasper, are USELESS."

Squint hoists himself up onto Ulyi.

"There had better be other people between us and Jasper from here on. I will not be responsible for what happens if he swings at us again. We will take first watch shift."

Squint urges Ulyi towards the front of the cavern in order to take a watchful position.

Squint stands by the recently-summoned Ulyi, a grim look on his face as he stares down Jasper.

He does not move ANYWHERE.

”He goes. Now. Or we do.”

Not moving forward until we a) deal with Jasper and b) rest.

"You left the Nag back with Maroux, I think..."

I think.

Squint looks uncomfortable.

"There's also the matter of Ulyi. I'm feeling a bit sheepish in summoning him back to my side, given how he took down Jasper - even though Jasper attacked him. Regardless, I'm pretty ineffective in a fight without my grumpy buddy."

Before progressing further, Squint will re-summon Ulyi unless there are other protests.
