I like to keep my expectations light and breezy. Post when you can and let us all know if you're not going to be able to post for longer than 24hrs in advance so I can fire up my bot. Be considerate of your fellow gamers and don't be a jerk. Keep off-topic talk in the Discussion thread, please. We're here to fire up natty 20s!
Please post the following things as part of your first post:
1.) character name and class/level
2.) your Pathfinder Society ID number including the suffix for the character that you're playing
3.) your starting XP and reputation
If there's a faction that you want to identify as, then let's do that as part of the gameplay (or a private message to me). There are no downtime activities associated with boons, so no need for downtime rolls.
I choose to use the Paizo boards for player chat in-game for one-offs like this, but I'm happy to listen to alternatives.
Most importantly, let's escape the drudgery of the real world for a bit!

Fill out Slide #2 on this when you get a chance!
Please fill out slide #2 on the above Google Slide when you can. Cheers!

GM D, did you delete your first post in the Gameplay thread?
Damn. So I did. I think that broke it.
Oh well. We will find a new Gameplay thread.

![]() |

Posts on Paizo boards are cemented in internet history once they turn one hour old. Also, you shouldn't ever delete the first post in a gameplay thread or it breaks the game. I should've remembered that one.
This is our new Gameplay thread. If you've read this far and you're a part of my game, please click on the link and indicate that you've made it into the new Gameplay thread.
Thanks, and sorry for the technical glitch to start the game!

![]() |

Sorry! I never noticed new posts and the old gameplay link was broken or something.
1. Drazzel, sorcerer 1
2. 17148-2006
3. 0 xp/ 0 rep.
Having a little difficulty posting in the slides. I can't get the lettering to show up how you guys did it.

![]() |

It is. Check my link below for the new Gameplay thread and post there when you can, Drazzel.

![]() |

It appears that I've got all of our players in the correct Gameplay thread, so I'm going to disconnect this thread from the erroneous (and broken) threads.
If you're reading this and you belong to my game, click on the large Gameplay thread in my post above this one. I won't be checking this thread further, and I'll be deactivating this particular thread.

In theory, in PF1 Knowledge checks to identify monsters and Perception checks to spot traps are secret rolls, but in practice players frequently roll their own in PbP. At least, I've seen it that way often enough in the past eight years or so to consider it a default unless otherwise stated.
In the PF2e CRB, there's an entire section dedicated to secret checks. Some actions, feats, etc... even have the secret trait. So, it's a big thing in PFS 2e now.

![]() |

Sure, but the same thing is true (albeit with less formality) for those sorts of checks in PF1, and if we were playing around a table I would expect the GM to roll them. PbP, IME, relaxes that in the interests of keeping play moving and giving the players the illusion of agency--which can be important for maintaining engagement. Granted, PF1 doesn't have the critical failure thing, and I suppose the designers didn't want to take the chance of having players metagame when they roll a 1.

Secret checks in PF2e are, as Drazzel correctly pointed out, a very big
and new thing. All Recall Knowledge checks, Perception (including Sense Motive which is under Perception now), Stealth, some Society and most Deception checks are all Secret. I use the following website to reference stuff quickly:
https://pf2.easytool.es/index.php
I'll let you know when a check is Secret. When it is, I'll do the roll for you; I might ask you for your modifier if it's not easy to find (i.e. I'm on my phone and I'm trying to save myself multiple clicks).
Thanks!

Hey, maybe I should have spoken up earlier, but I always forget this. I'm a 1-gylph Gm. Do bounties even have hero points? I don't think I can give out a hero point?

![]() |

Yes, Hepcut, you all have Hero Points.
As I mentioned in this post, you each have 1 Hero Point to spend. There are feats (Promotional) that allow you to give out Hero Points, or via your GM Glyphs. Each player may receive no more than one extra Hero Point from these giveaways.
So there! There’s one extra Hero Point out there for the table for anyone to claim, and each person has their normal Hero Point.

Sorry! Long day at work and it's dinner time here in Denver. Can I roll my own reflex?

![]() |

I usually can't post until about 8-11 pm CST but I'm fine with you rolling my save if it moves things along.
Also I feel that I should point out that surprise rounds are not a thing in 2e.

![]() |

Ahh. I understand now. I'm also fine with being botted to move things along.

Well blow me down. That’s my mistake - I apologise. No surprise round. Hmm. Let’s see. I’ll back some things up, but as you can see, they did get an initiative jump on y’all.
Ok, map reset. Everyone who hasn’t acted yet (Erathiel, Kurvok, and Hepcut) may take actions in a munted Round 1.
Thanks for pointing that out, Jun-Mei!

Sorry. So, do I have to redo my character profile or will it go back to how it was on its own? Hopefully soon.
Edit: I fixed it on my own. Luckily I had his profile saved on my note pad.

In my case, it never went back. I posted about it on the Website Feedback forum, but as of a couple of days ago nothing had been done.
I went through all of my characters and copied their profiles into Word documents after that.

So I made a post before work today and I guess I just previewed and forgot to submit post since it didn't actually show up. I can read posts at work but generally cannot actually make a post unless it's super short. When I noticed that my post didn't actually go up I made a very quick post to make sure the game moved on properly. Sorry if that post and the next sounded too curt.

![]() |

No worries, Jun-Mei. Missing posts happen.
I think I was confused by Hepcut’s post - I had assumed that she had illegally attacked the creature that clearly was ten feet above her. On second look, I think she attacked the one on the ground. My apologies.

![]() |

I was originally misunderstanding which one was 10 feet up, and so I had put my token next to the wrong one, but by the time I had actually hit Submit Post, I moved my token into its current position.

Can we use actions to wipe the grit from our eyes? If so, how many?

You can always try; it would be one action to attempt it and recognise if it was successful.

![]() |

I've read it a couple times and thought about it, and have no idea. I don't want to open spoilers here or on gameplay page. Let's discuss it without spoilers. I would like to know the reasoning for guesses.

A legend that goes untold,
A scale that weighs no gold,
The blue of fishless seas,
I offer a rose and relief.
Beyond belief, I shrink realities.
For "blue" of fishless seas I think of the blue sky.
A "rose" is a red sun in the sky?
Hmm.
(I'm doing some long hauling through the Colorado rocky mountains today. Snowy weather here, too. Interesting to think about while driving my truck.)

![]() |

A legend that goes untold, <- no clue.
A scale that weighs no gold, <- a map has a scale.
The blue of fishless seas, <- a map's seas are fishless.
I offer a rose and relief. <- rose of the winds, relief because you can guide yourself with it.
Beyond belief, I shrink realities. <- worlds are vast, a map is a shrunken representation of reality.

![]() |

Ahh! A map has a legend! It describes what the symbols mean. And a compass rose on a map is the N, S, E, W thing.
Holy cow! Very good!
And here I am looking at maps all day to get me through the Rocky Mountains. Lol.
