He carries himself with no uncertainty at all, anymore, and a large degree of conviction. He doesn't have a hint of sarcasm in his voice, and quite possibly a bit of gratitude, filtered through some odd process in his head. "don't get me wrong. This isn't making up. Nor is it admission of some sort of guilt. It's simply something I feel obliged to do in return for what your actions resulted in." She gingerly took the crystal, examining it carefully. "I don't know a lot about catalysts," she said. "How does it work? Is it supposed to unlock abilities, or make it easier to use them, like the full moon does?" He seemed weird, even for Igni, and she wasn't sure it was a good idea to take the crystal at all, but he also seemed really proud of it. Like not appreciating it would be on the same level as puppy kicking. But she was still wary of him. He was totally unpredictable. Sometimes he would go through crazy risks to help and other times he was totally emotionless, and for the same person too. She didn't trust his mood swings. "It shouldn't really be hard to use. Just foucs your waterbending through it. You may want to set it in something so you don't have to hold it."
igni holds up his metal covered hand, showing a red crystalline structure in the back of it, about half the size of the back of his hand. Lines of fire run down his sleeves, lining ki paths down his arm to his gem, before he turns up his hand and produces a small flame. "like that."
it's a 2*masterwork catalyst, giving a +4 to waterbending checks when used.

And when she felt lonely she tended to drift back into her old habits from her tower days of sleeping only in short bursts at odd times. It wasn't good for her to be by herself. She knew that. But so far she hadn't been given a replacement roommate.
She got a tray and put a lot of food on it. She needed so much energy to power her abilities. She stumbled a little bit under the wait and bumped into a pair of boys talking at one of the tables. She started to apologize when she saw who it was. Igni saw a look of fear and revulsion on the girl's face for just a moment before she literally fell through the floor, leaving her breakfast tray behind to spray food and drink all over Igni and Lucas.
igni blinks a few times, then looks down at the floor.
"Uh. Bye."

ingi breathes out cinder, as fire flickers in the edges of his vision. It doesn't seem to go away no matter where he turns.
"A mild cost to setting my soul alight, I suppose..."
he mutters, heading over to sit on his bed and remove a book. He stares at the title a while.
"This... Seems like a waste of time. But, they said I should try and understand other people."
igni opens the book and turns into his bird form, starting to read the book on waterbending, turning pages with his talons.

male firebird firebender 10// caliver 3/bard 3/battle herold 4
igni quietly walks into his room, and locks the door.
"Finally."
igni exhales sharply.
"Let's see..."
igni flips open the pages to his book "on the composition of the soul"- a book written eons ago, yet still managing to be one of the easiest ways to explain the makeup of a soul to somone... If it's also more or less wrong. But for Igni's purposes, it's enough.
"To syohon off a part of your core essence, use... Hmm. Well, I can't cast any of that, but... My soul is made largely of fire. So... I think I can..."
igni carefully repeats the arcane instructions, substituting his skill at bending where needed, until he draws out a small, glowing blue orb from his chest. He breathes heavily, for a while. Eventually regaining his composure, he closes the book. He knows what to do from here.
"It's so dull. So weak. This... This is what wasted potential looks like."
he cups his hands beneath the floating orb.
"When I'm done with it..."
igni lights a fire inbetween his hands. It grows hotter, and hotter, until the whole room is surging with heat, and enough is creeping out the bottom of his door that the hallway near his has raised almost 30 degrees. The orb starts to blacken.
"There will be nothing but ash."
the fragment of igni's soul crumbles apart, nothing but dust on the floor.
"I'm done trying to lead. I'm done trying to be what they wanted. From now on, I'm dedicated to my arts, and not "arts" that have been put on me by the council."
igni pauses, before shouting at the empty room.
"you got that!? I'm going to be the paragon you asked for, but not the one you wanted!"
